Was Einhar Telling Us Details of 4.0?

    Posted: 14 Nov 2019 12:07 PM PST

When he was introduced back in March 2018, Einhar told us of the "End of the World". A few quotes:

We are in the final days of this world, exile. Of that, I am sure.

The end is coming, exile. Of that, I am sure.

...Just not so sure when. Maybe tomorrow? Maybe three years form now. No more than three years from now.

The First Ones showed my people that to win, you must outlast. They left this world long ago to seek other survivors, but they will return.

Many of us have speculated that "no more than three years from now" was talking about 4.0, and it will be 2 years and 9 months if 4.0 if it comes out in December 2020, but what if "End of the World" is actually a description of 4.0? Some possibilities of what it might mean:

"End of the World is a new alternate endgame": After you reach the Epilogue and complete all the story quests, talk to Einhar to start this new endgame. Now that the Beast and most of this world's native gods are dead invaders see Wraeclast as an easy target! All the storyline areas disappear apart from the towns, and you use them as bases to explore new procedurally generated lvl-68+areas around them. Fight Breachlords, Beyond demons, Harbingers, the god the Harbingers were harbinging for, the First Ones themselves, and whatever new threats GGG create, to save the world!

"It's, like, a metaphor for replacing the terrain and tilesets": To keep up with Diablo IV, GGG decided they needed to revamp the whole terrain generation system, including the tilesets, to create a world with larger zones with better and more realistic terrain. Say goodbye to the old world and its old tilesets!

"It's, like, a metaphor for replacing the Act 1-10 story": They've decided the current storyline is a bit dated and they need to replace it. You'll still be an exile from Oriath sent to Wraclast but who you'll meet and what you'll do has changed. Say goodbye to the old Wraeclast and its old story!

"Einhar wasn't talking about 4.0 at all": Preposterous! I have no time for conspiracy theories, this is hard-headed analysis!

    Your ideas?

GGG please give us at least a band-aid fix for the flask piano issue with patch 3.9

    Posted: 14 Nov 2019 10:25 AM PST

I made a thread about this a few months ago, see here.

I can understand that GGG is not satisfied with the flask solution and that letting players map flask buttons to the same key (as in the chinese PoE version) is not a final solution. But we need such a band-aid fix right now. I'm sure a lot of players agree that every league that we have to spam flasks is annoying and can be detrimental to one's health, we do not need a final solution any band-aid fix will do for now.

Just two simple suggestions that can work until the flask system is overhauled whenever you feel like it's ready.

    1. Let players bind multiple flask slots to the same button. Can be done in the chinese PoE client.

    2. Give flasks 10 hidden maximum charges. Once a player has a flask active and this specific flask charge exceeds the total charges + hidden charges his flask duration is increased by 0.1 second (numbers could use tweaking). Flask duration cannot exceed the standard maximum flask duration. What this essentially does it giving you flask duration for gaining flask charges on currently active flasks that are fully charged.

Good luck to GGG with Exilecon, have fun to all attendees and let's hope we get some more flask news this weekend :)

Exilecon meetups so far have reminded me of early POE days

    Posted: 14 Nov 2019 02:15 AM PST

One of the biggest compliments I've ever had towards this game is how incredible the community can be. It's not that it's bad now, it's just bigger and the nature of the internet can sometimes cast a shade across things.

But going to a few of the meetups in New Zealand was pretty awesome.

Granted I'm a bit older, played since closed beta and got to come to Exilecon with my son who had played for a year or so. The people at the meetups and even just events around town, excursions where we've run into other players, from all over the world has been incredible. From the streamers that showed up, that he loved and I tried to recognize, to the huge numbers of the community that showed up to hang and eat and drink was such a cool thing to experience. Really looking forward to the event this weekend after watching how well people in this community treated each other.

POE really does have an incredibly unique player base and I'm so happy to be a part of it as well as my 18 year old getting totally wrapped up into meeting people and everyone being so kind and inviting. You guys really rock!

Got this earlier this year - part of a leg sleeve but based this piece on the Occultist. The Exilecon hype is real and thought I'd share!

    Question before starting PoE

    Posted: 14 Nov 2019 12:42 PM PST

Hello everyone,as the title says i am thinking about giving PoE a shot after a lot of time spent on D2 and D3. Ive been playing D3 since release and i really disliked the auction house at the start, i really hate games that force trading. So ive been wondering, would i be able to reach the endgame in PoE and create a fun and strong build without using trade?

Looking to buy a new laptop - Can someone suggest me a good laptop which will run PoE smoothly?

    Posted: 14 Nov 2019 12:55 PM PST

So I am looking to buy a new laptop for thanksgiving, and by budget is around $3000. I've been having so many performance issues with PoE lately, to the point I stopped playing Blight 3 days in.

Can anyone suggest me a good laptop which will be adequate to run PoE smoothly on the highest settings? I just want to eliminate all the performance issues from my side before the new league begins.

What is the worst case realistic scenario for 3.9/4.0?

    Posted: 14 Nov 2019 04:35 AM PST

GGG said 3.9 has something in it they haven't been able to do or something new to the game. What do you guys think is the worst possible situation that could happen?
