    Explosive arrow

    Posted: 03 Dec 2019 12:11 AM PST

So after reading new changes to EA and how it scales. There could be possibility to build it around few ways.

    1) Crit - because scaling flat damage and explosive part could be a thing and just ignore ignite whatsoever.

    2) Scaling pure ignite. Still need some wep damage and upfront to make sure. But in this case you scale burning damage and prolif.

    3) Trying to scale both worlds. And this is one i'm trying to think of. Using EA for single target and clear at same time. I actually think that barrage support is not the best one for this. So will be using two 6links.

    • clear - EA / GMP / mirage archer / inspiration / WED / fire pen
    • ST - EA / WED / inspiration / combustion / burning damage / empower level 4 (using deadly aliments before empower)

    POB - https://pastebin.com/dvZTEPE4

At start will try to go Queen of the forest and for auras grace + herald of ash. Should be enough to clear fast / level fast. For now, have no clue what bow to use. Prolly gonna aim for just 6l imperial bow from cards. Shaper bow with added fire + level to bow gems could be endgame version. If this mod even is a live after they remove some of the shaper/elder mods. Rolling bow with phys / attack speed or just flat fire / attack speed should both work.

Any ideas on passive tree? Or other suggestions?

Ascendancies that can respec to effectively use different variants of Storm Call (self-cast, poet's pen and the class-agnostic vaal Storm Call setup as shown in my previous post)

    Posted: 03 Dec 2019 04:37 AM PST

My goal with this post is to compile a list to evaluate which ascendancies are Tier 1, Tier 2 or Tier 3 for two or more of the listed playstyles.

    Some AoE and defenses are needed for all versions;

Self cast wants cast speed, poet's pen needs insane amounts of attack speed (not sure if dual PP are even possible without the corspe consumption buff from VD necro) and Vaal Storm call wants raw damage and corpse explosions.

Evaluation of classes I have experience with (unsure about poet's pens, since I haven't used them after the nerf):

    Assassin:

no AoE and bad AoE pathing; no life recovery and bad life pathing; Elusive very good defense for mapping and good protection from one-shots, also gives Movement Speed; great damage and best HoI scaling, 20% attack and cast speed; badge of brotherhood for Frenzy and Power Charges

Tier 1 Vaal Storm Call + Herald of Ice; Tier 2 self-cast; Tier 2 (?) PP with frenzy and badge of brotherhood

    Occultist:

worse than Assassin but still good badge of brotherhood synergy (AoE instead of damage, worse Elusive Buffs); curses are always great and Blasphemy plus seems good; great pathing and CI viability; Profane Bloom instead of HoI

compared to Assassin: more reliable bossing defenses (wicked ward), but worse bossing damage and mobility

Tier 1 Vaal Storm Call + Profane Bloom; Tier 2.5 self-cast; Tier 2.5 (?) PP with frenzy and badge of brotherhood

    Elementalist:

Best "Jack of all Trades" with 4 or 5 Golem Buffs (phys damage mitgation, life regen, attack- and castspeed, crit and accuracy, generic damage); great pathing; reduced herald of ice reservation; questionable Golem survivability against new bosses

Tier 2 Vaal Storm Call + Herald of Ice; Tier 2 self-cast; Tier 3 (?) PP

    Inquisitor:

a worse "Jack of all Trades" than Golementalist, the only standout feature is the 200 ES regen for Eldrich battery

    Juggernaut:

good AoE and great defenses but no damage and castspeed from Ascendancy ; good pathing for life and decent for AoE; bad pathing for damage and almost impossible to get the flask effect needed for Vaal Storm Call

    Tier 2 self-cast, Tier 3 (?) PP

    Duelist Asc are sub-standard

    Berseker (poet's pen): ???

    Hierophant (self-cast + MoM): ???

    Reave berzerker build

    Posted: 03 Dec 2019 03:18 AM PST

I think i got a pretty good idea on my passive tree and items but i feel a little lost in regards to skill gems. Last time i played pretty seriously was in the flashback synthesis period and only dabbled here and there since then so i'm not very knowledgeable about the new skills. Seems like coming up with 5 support gems for Reave has become quite a bit more complex since the synth flashback period. But also secondary skills i'm unsure of. Some help would be appreciated, thanks.

EDIT: And what's the deal with taking both soul of steel and acrobatics? 1 gives 30% increased armor and the other gives 50% decreased armor, so how does that calculated and is it worth it to take both or are you supposed to stack armor if going soul of steel?

3.9 Blast Rain Boss Killer (POB Image w/ new Blast Rain)

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 09:59 PM PST

3.9 Blast Rain Boss Killer (POB Image w/ new Blast Rain)

I have programmed the new Blast Rain gem into my version of POB and have attempted to create a Blast Rain Boss Killer. I tossed in Rain of Arrows for clearing. I think the numbers are looking pretty good. The results are in the image. Any feedback welcome!

    Gems:

6L: Blast Rain - Concentrated Effect - Added Fire Damage - Elemental Damage with Attacks - Elemental Focus - Slower Projectiles

2L: Blink Arrow - Faster Attacks - Precision - Blood Rage

4L: Herald of Ice - Assassin's Mark - Curse on Hit - Onslaught

4L: Summon Ice Golem - CWDT - Immortal Call - Increased Duration

6L: Vaal Rain of Arrows - Mirage Archer - Elemental Damage with Attacks - Elemental Focus - Added Cold Damage - Added Lightning Damage

    Hatred in Essence Worm

(Edit 1: I have swapped Added Fire Damage for Inspiration and grabbed the health and damage nodes by duelist rather than the health by Scion.

The damage is now at 1,871,943 and life is up to 165% Thanks deathaxxer!)

(Edit 2: Added Cold Damage has replaced Slower Projectiles and we are now at 1,948,544 Total DPS.)

(3.9) Burning Arrow Starter Build Theory

    Posted: 03 Dec 2019 01:19 AM PST

Xoph's nurture gets a big buff with "gems supported by lvl 20 ignite proliferation".

Burning arrow gets huge rework with debuff stacking (39% OF ignite damage per debuff) + lots of ignite damage (20% more ignite damage than in previous version) +10% bonus fire DoT + 100% fire damage conversion.

Burning Arrow + Barrage support = ez 5x debuff stacks = 195% of total ignite damage in 4 seconds

Now the question is, what could be the skill best paired with it for speed mapping? Blast Rain or Explosive Arrow? Or just another Burning Arrow with Greater Volley and pierce?

Ascendancy: Trickster, Deadeye/Pathfinder (really depends on the upcoming patch notes)

    What do you think, guys?

    Trying to build glacial hammer

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 10:41 AM PST

Hello, I've been trying to make a glacial hammer build for a while, I played blight just a bit recently but decided not to play much because I want to go all-in in the next league.

This is what I was going for https://pastebin.com/rybxMSE3

I tried to be realistic with items so there's room for improvement but I didn't play much during the last two leagues so I'm a bit out of the loop regarding new items, especially those legion jewels.

Is there any item I should remember to strive for? And how would you improve the tree? I feel like it will be a bit squishy with this low health tho.

About mapping with ancestral call clearing speed is pretty good, but without it I fear it will really fall down, I wonder how people get that herald of ice chain reaction without autobomber things.

Scourge Arrow Starter Build Questions - I'm new

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 11:57 PM PST

    Hello all,

I've always read the a scourge arrow pathfinder is a good league starter that will carry me too maps and endgame pretty well. I tried making a character and it was surprisingly weak during the Acts. I was honestly actually disappointed. Obviously I don't doubt the experts so naturally I'm assuming that I did or still am doing something wrong. Please help by answering my questions:

    1. Is Scourge Arrow what I use during leveling or do I use another skill until I'm at a certain level?
    2. Which ASCENDANCY would be best to use for a newbie who doesn't have the ability to acquire a seemingly endless supply of exalts like the rest of the community seems to be able to do? (lol)
    3. Is Scourge Arrow even a viable starter for the seemingly boss heavy league of 3.9?
    4. Do I scale poison or do elemental conversion?

    Thank you very much!!

Can someone explain this build to me?

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 12:48 PM PST

Looking for new ideas for 3.9 on poe.ninja builds, and I came across a level 100 char that I don't quite get.

    https://poe.ninja/challenge/builds/char/danieldirt/DansBlight

Is it possible they just swapped out gear after they finished playing for the season, or am I missing something with their build? HP/ES seems wayyyy to low, among other things.

    3.9 starter boss killer

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 12:21 PM PST

Hi all, looking to see where I can optimize and possibly do different in this build. My goal is to do some boss killing, as I've never made it to Uelder and the metamorph league looks like its going to be boss heavy. I want to dual wield axes and use Cyclone to deliver a heavy multistack bleed. I figured this would be a good survivable build but the PoB damage doesn't seem all that great for bossing down big boys.

Frost Blades Raider Question - Help please

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 11:04 AM PST

Hello all. I've been looking into making a frost blades raider character for next league and I'm looking to practice and optimize one during the last 2 weeks of this league...questions I have are

    1. Will this be a good league starter?
    2. Are claws the best weapons for this build? If so, why is that?
    3. Dual wield or 1-hand and shield?

    Thank you very much!

What are solid league starters for 3.9?

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 07:12 AM PST

I haven't played since melee league so I'm a little out of the loop.

What does everyone think will make a good leagud starter? I'm looking for something that's cheap but can scale decently. Last time in 3.7 I played cyclone and it did exactly that.

Bonus points if it's cool and fun to play. Suggestions? Thanks!

Is Burning Arrow Impale Champion viable?

    Posted: 02 Dec 2019 08:09 AM PST

Would be my first bow build ever, maybe not my league starter cause bows meta, prices up shenanigans. Everyone is planning a chieftain and I'm wondering if a flat phys scaling champion can do a good job with the skill.

Ignite BA is built around the DoT not the initial hit, so here's my 1st problem, nodes with fire dot multi are far from the duelist area. 2nd and last problem imo would be lacking fortify, although every bow build has that problem, if I go the worthy foe 2 pointer and then impale and adrenaline nodes. Using Dread banner with inc duration gives fortify when planted but it's rarely active, and for a really short duration. On the other hand, the adrenaline auto-panic button seems amazing, AND also manually proccing it for bosses (never used adrenaline yet in a build).

Advantages would be not worrying about scaling crit or getting any accuracy, life from Kaoms, molten shell + iron reflexes giving a pretty nice defensive buffer, life on hit with Xophs Nurture...

Not sure if enough defensive layers. How would you build this? Also I dont know almost anything about quivers, never used bows before. Useful uniques? What to craft, useful affixes? Thanks exiles!
