LocalIdentity's Path of Building v1.4.152.8 Fork

    Posted: 08 Dec 2019 01:56 PM PST

A new update is out, changes are as follows:

    • Add Support for Greater Spell Echo
    • Rampage now appears as a box on the configs page
    • Show Impale DPS in sidebar for minions
    • Add The Ivory Tower Body armour (3.9 preview)
    • Add Mistwall Buckler Shield (3.9 preview)
    • Add support for Manastorms' lightning damage buff (3.9 preview)
    • Add support for Arborix and its mods
    • Add support for Augyre and its mods
    • Add support for Vulconus and its mods
    • Add support for new Coated Shrapnel mod courtesy of Peter Pölzl
    • Add support for Inquisitors increased damage on consecrated ground Sanctuary node
    • Add support for Golem Commanders increased damage node
    • Add increased area rampage mod support on Sinvicta's Mettle
    • Add proper support for Champions' Master of Metal node (set the number of impales for this to work)
    • Add Carion golem to list of golems that work with Primordial Harmony
    • Add Bane of Legends node attack speed buff
    • Add tooltip to Rage to list its effects
    • Widen manage passives trees drop down box
    • Update Edge of Madness
    • Fix Delve more bleed and poison damage mods to only apply to attacks and give more realistic damage numbers

I made rampage a global mod since I know people use it in a weapon swap, and I can't detect a weapon mod in PoB if it's in your weapon swap.

I also tested the effect of Carrion golem with Primordial Harmony myself. I bought 10 of the jewels and had the golem hit a yellow mob in act 5. I then took screenshots of the health bar of the mob and recorded the number of pixels that the health went down by with each hit. I then summoned a stone golem and tested again on the same mob. From my testing, it was an average of 6 pixels of health for solo carrion and 10 pixels for carrion + stone combo. If someone has data to prove they don't work together please let me know.

Here's my previous post with a lot more info about the fork if you want to know more.

If you want to download my fork, head here: https://github.com/LocalIdentity/PathOfBuilding/wiki/Installing-this-Fork

If you want to suggest a feature to add, head here: https://feathub.com/LocalIdentity/PathOfBuilding

Enjoy messing around with the new uniques and mods!

    PoEgems.com v1.2 — Skill Gem Finder

    Posted: 08 Dec 2019 12:58 PM PST

    Hello everyone.

I posted a week ago about my 1.0 release, and the amount of feedback was really awesome. I released 1.1 some days ago, but a few breakthroughs during the week-end pushed me to release 1.2 ahead of schedule. So here it is!

    https://poegems.com — find that gem!

    New Features

    • "Preferences" modal window (gear icon, top right), with features requested like Live Search
    • "About" modal window, displayed by clicking on question mark button, in the header
    • Sorting results by clicking on column header. Click again for descending order
    • Button to scroll back to the top. Appears only if necessary, at bottom right
    • Buttons to toggle display of each section of filters (saved on further visits)
    • Added OR filters for tags. If you activate Cold, Fire & Lightning this way, you should get all "elemental" gems
    • "Advanced" options (button +, next to Start) with following features:
      • 'Export' button: displays URL to share/save current results
      • 'Random' button: pick 1 gem at random from current results
    • Implemented Open Web Analytics, to gather anonymous data on number of visits. See below for more details

    Improvements

    • Removed wiki column, merged with name column
    • Added tooltip (text on hover) to Colors text to explain what a secondary color is
    • Reworded "Filter by colors" to "Filter by attributes"
    • Removed White from Any attribute filters
    • 'Clear All Filters' button has been moved to top center of the page (refresh icon)
    • 'Clear All Filters' now also resets results, essentially resetting the page
    • Gem data has had numerous improvements, but this was not the focus of these versions
    • And a lot of bug fixes! Thanks for reporting them!

    Open Web Analytics

I'm using Open Web Analytics because it's free, because it's not Google, and because I have full control over it. It uses anonymous cookies with no geolocations or identity info, and IPs are anonymized. I only care about amount of visit, unique visitors, average visit duration, and browser used. Most adblocks seem to also block it (which is a good thing), so you can turn it off if you feel like helping.

You can read more about this topic on the Preferences modal (gear icon, top right), and opt out there if you wish.

    What's next?

Next, I'll focus on improving gem data. Even if this website's strength is not on amount of information but on its representation, I believe some more efforts can be made in that regard. Filters like weapons or threshold jewel all seem very interesting, but require that I improve the way I gather gem data.

For the rest, well, obviously, that's where you guys can help! All feedback encouraged!

Pushing a build to its limits: Essence Drain Contagion

    Posted: 08 Dec 2019 12:12 PM PST

Hello everyone, Im sharing the build I theorycrafted in Legion (made for corrupted 8 mod double beyond Elder Glaciers). Since I played ED Contagion many times before I already knew it felt good in the clearspeed and damage departments, so I approached it methodically, focusing on defensive mechanics and mitigation on paper.

(I wanted to do a paint build showcase of it at first, but it was taking forever setting it up so I wrote it down instead)

    Goal:

Transition the build from league start to end game, without sacrificing damage or speed. Able to do all content, any map tier with any mods. Able to facetank bosses. Realistic/obtainable/self craftable items. Finished passive tree before starting maps (currently level 92 with 2 jewel sockets/level 100 with 6). High effective health, high regeneration and high mitigation against all damage types (Hit/DoT, Physical/Elemental/Chaos).

    Result:

    General mitigation:

    • Damage buffer: 6500 health, 1400 mana (+30% MoM)
    • Essence Drain's "Regenerate 0.5% of Debuff Damage as Life": 0.5% of 330k + 70% (Patient Reaper) while mapping and 0.5% of 800k + 70% buffed. (Patient Reaper, Vaal Blight, Vaal Righteous Fire and Wither from Spreading Rot). Regeneration gets multiplied by the number of enemies affected by ED. 1600 per enemy while mapping and 6800 per enemy fully buffed.
    • Mind over Matter: 30% of damage taken from mana before life (Weave the Arcane and Patient Reaper fix potential mana issues while mapping, Quicksilver flask switched to Enduring mana flask for bosses).
    • Fortify: 20% reduced damage taken from hits
    • Weave the Arcane: 6% reduced damage taken after spending 200 mana
    • Prolonged Pain: 10% reduced damage taken from damage over time
    • Flesh and Stone: nearby enemies are blinded, 11% less damage taken fron non-nearby enemies
    • Attack dodge/Spell dodge: 53/53
    • Major pantheon - Soul of Solaris: 6% additional physical damage reduction while there is only one nearby enemy, 20% chance to take 50% less area damage from hits, 8% reduced elemental damage taken if you haven't been hit recently, take no extra damage from critical strikes if you have taken a critical strike recently, 50% chance to avoid ailments from critical strikes.
    • Minor pantheon - Soul of Tukohama: 2% additional physical damage reduction every second while stationary, up to 8%. 0.5% of life regenerated per second while stationary, up to 2%.

Physical mitigation: 16% of physical damage taken as X, 36% additional physical damage reduction, 44% while stationary.

Elemental mitigation: 50% of elemental damage taken as chaos damage and 25% of elemental damage from hits taken as chaos damage. 80% maximum elemental resistances.

Chaos mitigation: maximum chaos resistance (90%).

    DPS: (Shaper/Guardian level enemy)

    • Mapping dps: ~340k unbuffed (330k ED + 10k Contagion)
    • Instanced boss dps (no vaal skills): ~1.3m (570k ED + 730k Blight @20 stacks)
    • Non instanced boss burst dps (all vaal skills): ~1.9m (800k ED + 1.1m Vaal Blight + Blight @20 stacks)

Amazing post on max resist: "The importance of maximum resistance" (Credit to u/Whitesushii) - With 90% maximum chaos resistance and 80% maximum elemental resistance, the damage before mitigation gets reduced significantly.

I think I reached a good ratio of currency invested to tankiness achieved. It would be interesting to know the effective health of this build, since it can facetank shaper beam and 8 mod guardians. This EHP Calculator (Credit to u/madinsane) is the closest one I've found and could be used as a base to make it up to date. If anyone would like to collaborate on this with me, message me on discord J4N5#7376.

Path of Building codes with everything ticked/set up for:

(mainly so the PoB Preview Bot indexes all three and it doesn't look weird with only like a third of the actual damage.)

TL;DR - Favourite build is ED Contagion, I made it super tanky so I can do all content on it.

What's been the worst league starter you've gone with?

    Posted: 08 Dec 2019 06:51 AM PST

Just as the topic says. What's been the worst start you've had upon league launch.

Whether skills weren't great (lancing steel). The guide or idea was flawed. Gear was harder to come by than initially thought. You wanted to either make a meta and failed, or went off meta/meme. Another reason I haven't listed.

For me I was still a little naive and fully bought into a Death's Oath life based trickster. It wasn't until like act 8 or 9 when I learned the hard way how many jewelers, Chrome's, and chaos resistance I'd need early before I scrapped it for something much simpler.

Curious to hear other people's poor planning.
