| Started Playing Path of Exile and Realized that POE is actually Myst as an ARPG Posted: 21 Feb 2020 10:44 AM PST I started playing POE in December and have been really enjoying it. I defeated Kitiva and started exploring the endgame, and found out that you collect maps, which transport you to magical worlds, where you kill all the monsters there and the move on to the next. After building up my Awakener level and fighting the conquerors, I came to a realization: Path of Exile is actually Myst. If you remember Myst, from like 1993, you find books (called "ages") which transport you to magical worlds, where you explore and solve puzzles. Atrus, the creator of the ages, has two sons, Sirrus and Achenar. Sirrus and Achenar, rather than peacefully exploring the Atlas, I mean ages, conquer and despoil the worlds, and you, the hero, have to defeat them. So, playing POE, I entered the atlas and found out that I have to defeat the conqueror of the Atlas, Sirus. So POE and Myst are essentially the same game. Books are maps. "Solve all the puzzles" is now "Kill all the monsters". I can only imagine that after defeating Sirus, in the next expansion I will have to defeat Achenar. In future expansions, I will have to save the true creator of the Atlas, Atrus. The Elder will return and turn out to actually be Gehn. The Labyrinth puzzles are only slightly less frustrating than the old Myst puzzles were. I thought you all deserved to know the true background and history of the game we're playing. It would make it so much easier to find certain things, especially if you are just looking for something with your leftover points after buying something for 175 when buying 200 points. I would think it would take minimal effort from GGG as well to create a filter like this. [link] [comments]  | ||

| Posted: 21 Feb 2020 12:51 PM PST I played PoE some amount years ago, before Kitava was a thing, but I'd never killed any of the current endgame bosses. I wasn't sure what to expect from these bosses and so I mostly just focused on building up my character throughout the league in my spare time, planning to complete challenges at the end of the league. I went into all these fights with basically no background knowledge and having no clue what to expect. So today I did them all, back to back! I have to say that Elder, Shaper, and Uber Elder are all insanely well designed fights. Even with the way my OP character made it pretty easy, I've got to say that the mechanics are very well designed, fun and engaging. I can't say the same thing about Sirus, however. I'm hoping they make drastic changes to that fight for the next league. Here is a video of the Uber Elder fight: https://streamable.com/7wnajMy zombies got completed effed, which made me happy I chose to mostly invest in Skellies. Wondering what to do with myself now that I can do all the content pretty easily. Not sure if it's worth it to farm UE. With an all time peak of 127k players for Wolcen and an all time peak of 123k players for path of exile it is fair to say that Wolcen is quite popular. However, these numbers are only from steamcharts.com and therefore doesn't tell the whole story. This raises the question: How many players does PoE really have? With the players that are not using steam to launch their game to the asian versions of the game, is it fair to estimate that PoE has more than 300k active players during the start of a season?
