After nearly spending the entire league theorycrafting, adjusting my tree, and crafting GG (or close to GG) items, I've finally 'finished' my Hollow Palm Impale Cyclone Slayer (2,552 DEX, 1,546 STR)!

    Posted: 01 Jun 2020 10:07 PM PDT

TL;DR: Pastebin is here. I hit 44M DPS with 5.1k overleech per second on 7.9k health. 2,552 DEX and 1,546 STR total. Budget is certainly variable, but I dumped as much currency into this build as I could afford (est ~400-500ex).

Hey r/PathOfExileBuilds, just wanted to share the completion of my min/max Hollow Palm - a build that can do it all. I originally started the league with a 1H Cyclone Slayer, but I wanted to try a new mechanic, and Hollow Palm was a relatively easy transition. I also wanted a tanky character since I was tired of dying a bunch to the Delirium mechanic. I had already played a STR stacking necro in Blight league and really enjoyed squeezing as many attributes as possible out of a character. How did I approach this for DEX this time?

    • Abused Split Personality jewels (11 of them) with lengthy tree pathing and 4x Cluster Jewels. I tried my best to utilize life nodes as additional pathing as well as picking up some res and Vaal Pact along the way. Early iterations had less jewel sockets and more ele res from the tree.
    • Used 4x Deep Cuts Cluster Jewels & +2 Hits to Impale Watcher's Eye for as much Impale DPS as possible.
    • Used x3 Drive The Destruction Cluster nodes for a whopping 5.1k overleech per second. One of my earlier build iterations focused harder on leech with x4 DTD and 24% Life Recovery Rate on my belt, hitting >7k leech at one point. However, I decided the additional DPS and flat life were better choices.
    • The Red Nightmare giving some Endurance Charge generation and block chance.
    • Having fun crafting three pieces of gear along the way:
      • Dex Stacking Amulet to replace Astramentis. This one gave a HUGE DPS increase once I finally landed %dmg per 15 dex on it. Really difficult to get enough INT for Infused Channeling without Astramentis - happy I could finish this one.
      • Dex Stacking Chest + Explosions that also adds significant life totals + everything the build needs. I originally had a similar chest without explosions (% Dex + % Life) that I crafted with an Awakener's Orb. Early game I heavily relied on a Wildwrap, which actually gives more DPS than my chest at the cost of a significant amount of life + explosions mod.
      • GG Stygian Vise that I still can't believe I finished. I originally started with a well-rolled Cyclopean Coil and moved to a Stygian after my tree alterations demanded more ele res from my gear.
    • 2 rings that I ended up purchasing and failing to slam on solid prefixes. While the suffixes on both give a ton of ele res, curse on hit, and max dex, the only notable prefix is the Elreon mod giving -8 to Total Mana Cost of Skills (which works with Cyclone). I've found the Elreon ring to be essential to the build - otherwise you need a -mana cost chest or 3 prefix crafts on all your jewelry, which cuts into some stats you'd otherwise love to have.
    • Garukhan's Flight, which gives us a whopping 510 flat life from our massive Dex stat. These haven't changed throughout the process, other than the enchant.
    • Devoto's Devotion with a usable enchant. Otherwise, the build feels a bit sluggish without the additional movement speed.
    • The Dancing Duo as a secondary weapon - I thought this was some cool technology. As long as you kill 15 units without Hollow Palm, you then disable your weapon slots and get free Rampage and some support on the side (you can socket in Blind, Maim, etc and it works with the passive). Really cool!

Overall, I had a ton of fun making this build. It completely tears through all content and cuts through T16 100% Delirium/Simulacrum mobs like butter. The tanky variant allowed me to level from 95 to 99 with few hiccups in between.

    Possible improvements:

    1. Double Pride Watcher's Eye - wayyyy too expensive
    2. Metacrafting better prefixes on my unset ring - % melee damage or % Area of Effect are really the only prefixes I'd want, and they have super low probabilities for not much payoff. Pass.
    3. Better prefixes on Elreon's Ring - Elreon's Rings are a complete nightmare to craft given that you want as much ele res as possible + dex + an immovable prefix you can only get from Div cards. Opted to buy the ring base.

If you have suggestions for the build, or have any questions about Hollow Palm in general, I'd be happy to discuss :)

In 3.10, what should my target DPS be for killing A8 Sirus, assuming I can dodge his mechanics 90-95%? Cyclone build

    Posted: 01 Jun 2020 02:39 PM PDT

So my best build this league was my freeze pulse totem hierophant which says it does 1.6mil total dos in PoB with the right confit. (400k x 4 totems). But this really does not feel like that much when fighting Sirus at a8. I also hate the fact that my totems constantly die in the last phase and I feel like I barely get any dps time.

I used to play cyclone but haven't in several leagues...

I've been doing A LOT of theory crafting in PoB lately and no matter what I make for cyclone (slayer, raider, assassin) it's very difficult to get above 600k or 800k cyclone DPS while also having some layers of defense and a moderate life pool. It seems Slayer is by far the best...? With impale shenanigans it pushes between 1-1.7mil, but obviously is all physical. Is this the consensus?

I am also trying to factor 21 points for a large cluster, 2 mediums, and 2 smalls since it seems efficient for the warcry nodes for free rage, and the life nodes

    Anyone have any thoughts?

Trying to come up with a Tempest Shield Archmage build

    Posted: 02 Jun 2020 04:00 AM PDT

So since Archmage is probably not going to work with duration gems anymore soon I wanted to try to put together something that could hit pretty hard with Tempest Shield while I still can. I've been trying to see what numbers I could get with Inquisitor, and the damage numbers actually ended up getting surprisingly large, but I'm concerned about the survivability because the only way I can make it to max block is with glancing blows and I don't think I'll be able to sustain enough energy shield, at least not without ballooning the build cost.

Anyway, this is the most recent configuration I've got right now: https://pastebin.com/VWEhppB2

I'm going to crash for the night and take another look in the morning, and possibly consider a Scion version, but I'd appreciate any input you guys have.

Need a lot of help with my build please.

    Posted: 02 Jun 2020 03:26 AM PDT

Hey all. I started playing about 2 weeks ago and, yeah, I probably shouldn't have tried to make my own build but it's what makes PoE fun for me. Anyways, here is my custom build. I'm able to do yellow tier 7 to 8 maps, but I am hoping to be able to do at least tier 14 maps.

I want to increase my survivability without losing too much DPS. I'm thinking of changing helmet and/or switching to Juggernaut.

I don't have much currency ~2 exalted orbs. I'm also on the PS4 if that matters.

Thank you all in advance for taking the time to review my noob build :)

    Pastebin: https://pastebin.com/tnZtK3dU

Edit: I forgot to mention that I am using a 2h Sword because I like 2h weapons. If I really must switch to dual wielding, I will consider it but I'm hoping I don't have to.

Would helping oak with his 20% increased physical damage scale with hollow palm?

    Posted: 01 Jun 2020 04:39 PM PDT

Essentially what the title says. I'm doing a hollow palm build in the last little bit of the league and I was wondering if the 20% damage would be worth over the 2 skill points.

Hey guys, im trying a vortex/cold snap build for the first time. Can Cooldown reduction improve the QOL of the vortex?

    Posted: 01 Jun 2020 01:48 PM PDT

Im training my league starter if the next league be a boss build. But sometimes the skill cooldown makes me kinda mad.

Exiles, I seek assistance. This coming 3.11 league, I intend on finally downing elder, particularly Uber elder, I've dabbled in many a build but haven't found myself enthralled enough to stick it out to T16, or I end up getting my dick pushed in and die to some shenanigans and cry myself to sleep😂 where have you found success, I'll admittedly put out that I enjoy tankier builds, chieftain and jugg, with their absurd life regen, glad blocks and necro army , thanks in advance

P.s I'm aware without patch notes, I'm really making a bad bet, but I have faith in your foresight Exiles, lead me to the promised land

    Help with fire BV assassin

    Posted: 01 Jun 2020 08:11 AM PDT

So I'm trying to follow Ruetoo's fire BV assassin, and I feel like I have at least some decent budget gear, but I can't seem to get my dps very high even compared to the budget option shown on his guide. I know I still need to upgrade my helmet, gloves, and rings, but when I put those into my POB the damage still isn't comparable to his guide, Any help is appreciated. https://pastebin.com/Lh9tUWMw

This is my first season and I've been playing a CoC cyclone ice nova assassin, and I'm kind of stuck damage and tankiness wise. And I've been looking for another build to play and my attention got to CI. So I wanted to know what kind of build I could play which is very tanky and have some good DPS ? Thanks for your attention.

    Posted: 01 Jun 2020 07:57 AM PDT

What are the best links for dps single target and clear? In pob it shows that hypothermia deals more damage than dd by quite a bit but I have heard that detonate dead deals more damage on single target, I wondering if this was true and what is the best 6 link setup to run is

    Poisen BV or Cobra Lash

    Posted: 01 Jun 2020 10:35 AM PDT

Hey dudes, i was thinking about what build to try next and was thinking of doing Cobra lash again. I had a fun time playing this in Metamorph league. Then i heard of poison blade vortex and i thought that sounds awesome as well.

So my question, which of these two skills is easier to league start with and which one has an easier time finishing hard content? (Deep delve, T16maps)

    Thanks ma Dudes

In need of: ice shot shadow build.

    Posted: 01 Jun 2020 09:47 AM PDT

I decided I want to try an ice shot build. I love ice, I love arrows. Preferably it would be a shadow build since I'm pretty sure I wanna roll a COC char later next league. But would love to league start with ice shot. Any builds out there!?!?

Fun build to play until the next league release!

    Posted: 01 Jun 2020 10:18 AM PDT

Since its the league end and having played almost all the meta builds(herald stacking, archmage SB, CoC assassin) and super bored of those now, I'm in need of good and fun build suggestions to play for the next couple of weeks.

    ------------------------------------------

Thanks for all the suggestions. Out of all the suggested builds Lacerate seems to be the best suited to my play style so ill be leveling one soon.

Upgrading Gear for CI CoC Cyclone+Ice Nova (Kami's)

    Posted: 01 Jun 2020 09:31 AM PDT

    Hi everyone,

I posted a few days ago asking for advice with CoC Cyclone Ice Nova + Headhunter: https://www.reddit.com/r/PathOfExileBuilds/comments/grm2kp/coc_ice_nova_assassin_with_hh_advice_needed/

Long story short, that thread helped me finally understand I was trying waaay too hard to make Headhunter work. I ended up selling it for a decent price and using those funds to respec to Kami's CI Ice Nova (Guide i'm referencing: https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2733675)

At this point, I have about an 80ex budget and with the league coming to a close it's becoming harder to sell my old stuff as well as to find upgrade pieces. I wanted to reach out to the community with my current gear and see if anyone could recommend the "optimal upgrade path" for me. Thank you in advance for any thoughts or suggestions! :)

My PoB link is at the bottom and here are my current thoughts towards upgrading:

    • 21/23 gems ; potentially switching inspiration for Added Cold or something (I will probably take care of this today. I was just using gems I had lying around)
    • shield 417ES in guide (+11% spell block) vs my 266ES , no block, BUT my shield has 85%~ resists
    • chest 760 es (no resists) vs my 667ES + 45% res (res doesnt seem possible on 725+ES shield, requires two mods related to ES)
      • I upgraded my chest today (both should be found in the PoB). Pretty happy with my purchase (maintained res, +400 ES, more damage, and I don't mind losing ES on kill - mapping is easy with this build. More concerned with bossing)
    • belt in guide has +96 implicit, +49 es, +18 inc es, 32inc from body armor vs my 96+48, 14 inc, 44% res
    • My boots aren't that great, hard to find tailwind + CDR. Even just tailwind boots are rough ; could I drop tailwind and get attack speed somewhere else? Maybe on other gear and avoid the "NOT: Attack Speed" filter?
    • Is Pandemonious necklace really BiS? The blind is great, as is the 24 pen, but it makes cold res awkward ...could a +1 skill necklace be viable for me? Esp this late in league with awkward gearing?
    • How important is aspect of the spider? Wonder if I could drop that and level up my auras more? Or drop Clarity for something more useful? And dropping the spider requirement would mean one less "niche mod" to search for, which would open my filter up a bit...

    PoB link: https://pastebin.com/vxRQqy2Q

EDIT: I just realized I somehow have 7.75 Attack Rate with Tailwind...I am not sure how this happened since I originally calculated all the breakpoint stuff correctly. If I'm not mistaken, I need to be under 7.57. Not sure how this happened, but seems like I can drop Tailwind now and go for high ES/damage boots!

EDIT2: I took nodes near the bottom right, namely Acuity, whereas the tree in the guide does not. Without that node, I would need more dex from gear but would gain sooo much from the nodes in the top left...but would also probably need to keep tailwind. Decisions, decisions...

[Feedback needed] Dreamfeather raider cyclone POB

    Posted: 01 Jun 2020 09:02 AM PDT

Hello everyone, i made a dreamfeather raider with cyclone in pob. It's my first time making a build for myself, and i would like to league start with this in 3.11 (if it is good for the league mechanic that is).

    The pob: https://pastebin.com/uPBUdhQv

I'm looking for feedback on my build, mainly:

    • can the tree be improved? i have >150% inc life on tree, along with acro, phase acro, vaal grace etc, and fortify. i tried not to be too pob-by, i hope it's a realistic build.

    • does it look good enough for leaguestart? apart from qotf i think the other items are pretty cheap

    • are there any shortcomings to a build like this?

    • does it have enough room for major upgrades?

    • i have focussed on making a super fast character, which is why i went with qotf. would farrul's be viable here? (sacrificing speed for some more life and qol)

    • I'm not sure about my 6-link cyclone setup. i chose rage and berserk for the extra move speed, but i get the feeling that it would be clunky building up rage while mapping (1 rage every 0.4 seconds souds slow, no?) should i get impale instead?

    • i did not include cluster jewels since idk how hard/easy it will be to obtain them next league

any critiques or tips in general about build making are very welcome too. thanks for your time. cheers!

Coc Ice Nova Assassin, I am getting oneshot left and right.

    Posted: 01 Jun 2020 07:28 AM PDT

    My POB: https://pastebin.com/vcB79NKQ

I recently made this Coc Assassin and so far it runs pretty smooth, I pushed till tier 16 maps without much problem, apart from some deaths that I thought were just things that I missed and could have dodged.

But resently it seems as if I cannot do anything at that Level without dieing at least once each map.

My biggest problem is bosses like Kitava on Lava Lake or Conquerors like Baran. Especially with the last Baran fight I struggled hard and every hit took me to 20% Health.

So is this normal? Am I just not dodging good enough?

Also I feel as if my boss damage is sometimes very low, any advice there?

This is the guide I followed so far, but I was pretty confused by the Gem setup. They recommend a 4-Link aura setup, a 4-link Vortex setup.

A 4?-link setup with Cast when Damage taken and Immortal Call, Herald of Ice and Precision.

and a 3-Link for Mobility. Where am I supposed to fit all of that?
