I hope harvest league was an attempt to try a crafting revamp

    Posted: 14 Jul 2020 04:25 AM PDT

Harvest started out pretty unwelcome by the community. Alot of players were scared or not bothered to interact with it. It looked time consuming and unpolished for a smooth interaction with the mechanic. Only the top % players took advantage of it and saw its potential.

After some patches, GGG really tuned stuff to the better. The casuals are now realizing how exciting it is to craft their gear in a way that isn't as hard outside the harvest crafting methods.

I have not been crafting much in poe. I tend to farm currency and buy what I need. Partly because the learning-curve to get into it is petty steep. But occasionally I try to fossil craft some items that would otherwise cost many exalts.

I play with friends who are relatively new to the endgame as they tend to try every few league without investing enough time to get a grip of it. I encouraged them over and over how easy and exciting it is to craft some gear in harvest but they don't want to learn the garden setup because of the tedius.

They ask about their next upgrades and try to come to a conclusion what they can afford. Meanwhile I sit in the garden telling them I just stored some good crafts for them.

And now finally they got it.. We all three on discord farming like crazy men. Every map is exciting. What seeds will we get? We trade seeds to each other as we all use different builds. It actually made us play together and pay more attention to each other.

I hope the harvest crafting is an attempt to try another take on getting a hold on gear and successively upgrading your gear which is in line with how Chris vision the itemization and acquisition of of items. It also makes sense with why the trade manifesto states why trading shouldn't be so easy and available as some players want. Trading is less important in terms of gearing up which is freaking awesome and healthy for the game because we all know how sitting on the trade website for hours feel.

I may not speak for everyone. But I definitely welcome crafting somewhere close to this model regardless of whether it will be nerfed or tuned in different ways.

I can't stop playing. Never felt that before.

[PSA]. You can ”easily” trigger the champions “Adrenaline” effect by using a 21 arcane cloak linked with Blood magic and a lvl2 empower

    Posted: 14 Jul 2020 09:04 AM PDT

I got frustrated dealing with the aura cooldowns to activate Adrenaline so I started looking for alternatives. I discovered you can trigger it with a lvl 22 arcane cloak linked with BM. There are several benefits of doing it this way.

    1. Not having to wait for aura cooldowns (yay)
    2. You can actually utilize the 25% of life recovery from adrenaline to instantly regain part of your life since your life is not actually reserved from the skill.
    3. You can pair it with an instant enduring cry to activate adrenaline and heal the lost HP in less then a second making it viable DURING a boss fight.

I did not see anyone post this method before so thought I would throw it out there.

Harvest Storage Tanks and Crafting Descriptions

    Posted: 13 Jul 2020 05:01 PM PDT

Later this week, we're planning to deploy Patch 3.11.1c. It contains a few small fixes but most notably, an increase to the capacity of Storage Tanks and some improvements to Harvest Crafting descriptions.

Storage Tanks The current plan is that the base capacity of a storage tank will be increased from 300 units of Lifeforce up to 1,000 units. We also plan to introduce a new type of storage tank with a capacity of up to 5,000 units that you'll be able to purchase for a significant amount of Lifeforce.

If you own one or more of these new larger tanks, a placed tank will have a 'swap' button on it that you can click which will automatically swap the new large tank with the existing tank that you select. Any Lifeforce contained in the smaller tank will be deposited into the newly-purchased larger tank.

    Harvest Descriptions
We've also revised the highlighting of key words on the Harvest crafting panel. It will have colours that make it easier to see at a glance what crafting modifiers are available. For example, the word 'caster' would always be highlighted in pale blue.

We'll preview the full notes prior to the patch's deployment, possibly as soon as our next news post.

Unpopular opinion : Godly tier items should drop from monsters

    Posted: 14 Jul 2020 05:15 AM PDT

I think that it's a shame for an ARPG that the only way to get good items is to craft them using currency and fairly convoluted/complex crafting RNG.

I find more and more each league, two days into the league, picking up items becomes almost worthless. Sure you can make a few chaos here and there for a well rolled item, but you are never going to get rich from a great find.

I know people do enjoy crafting, as it allows people in the know to get rich quickly, but for the average player who is not so much into crafting, the enjoyment is sucked out of the game at least in terms of the picking up loot and identifying it aspect.

I think crafting should be used as a way to enhance already good items that have dropped, rather than just customising loot from a base as it stands right now.

I really hope GGG bring back a focus where the best items can start dropping from monsters rather than being crafted. Even if a new league is introduced that can mix/merge all current crafting options would be pretty exciting to me, so at least there is a chance of getting an amazing item to drop.

What is everyone elses thoughts on the current situation where crafted items are always the best? (by a large amount). There should always be a reason to pick up rares/identify loot in an ARPG in my opinion.

Incursion Temples are still dissapointing 90% of the time.

    Posted: 13 Jul 2020 08:49 PM PDT

Doing Alva missions just feels like a constant hunt for level 3 Corruption or Gem rooms which 90% of the time end in dissapointment, since the rates for these are abyssmal.

All other Rooms are absolute garbage and not worth the time.

Most of the time i just open the temple only to be able to spawn alva on maps again without clearing it.

Please buff level 3 rooms GGG.

Sacrifice a Weapon or Armour to create an Amulet with similar modifiers / abysmal results

    Posted: 14 Jul 2020 11:07 AM PDT

This craft is a huge bait. I saw it and immediately crafted a crusader wand with +1 lightning spell skill gems (yes I know the amulet equivalent is +1 lightning skill gems, but hey it's "similar") and some spell damage. The result was a coral amulet with NO INFLUENCE, 3% spell damage, and 20% increased armour. The least it could have done was keep the influence. C'mon GGG, this craft is useless and it is tier 3. I'm curious if anyone used this craft and got something useful. Let me know!

Plague Cry - My perfect sceptre, the height of my PoE experience

    Posted: 14 Jul 2020 10:07 AM PDT

    https://imgur.com/a/FmQCsG9

This is Plague Cry, the culmination of eight years playing Path of Exile. The coolest thing I've done in a game.

I wanted to share this with you because it's a big moment for me. I've been playing PoE since closed beta, and I've just finished crafting what is, for my build, the perfect item, and for the first time, used a mirror to make a copy of it. It's been a very long journey to this point, and I hope this post can inspire you to make your own dreams come true.

I want to start by saying I'm not a great PoE player: I hadn't killed Sirus before this league, I've never had more than a dozen ex at a time, I had never gotten a character over level 95. But Harvest offered me the promise of perfection with enough dedication. What felt impossible a month ago was now achievable with a mix of knowledge, effort, and less luck than you'd think. As soon as I realized the barrier to making this item and mirroring it weren't as far out of my reach as it seemed, I was determined to have it. I had dreams about it, and I thought back to an interview with Chris at ExileCon where he talked about a coworker who was obsessed with acquiring a lance in Diablo II, and how he'd stay up at night thinking about getting it, and how capturing that feeling was critical to Path of Exile's success. Well, you did it Chris, you captured me. You made me dream about a driftwood sceptre.

This project involved almost every kind of crafting made available through the game's history, it used beastcrafting, fossils, currency spamming, a betrayal bench, the normal crafting bench, synthesis fracturing, and of course, seedcrafting, but finishing this item off meant I needed two of them, and that meant earning enough currency to buy the first mirror I'd ever touched. It took a heap of time poring over PoE.db, Path of Building, and Craft of Exile to figure out how this could be created, and definitely would not have been possible without the knowledge (and small loan of 25ex to finally buy the mirror) from my friends made throughout years of playing together, not to mention all the time that went into grinding for currency to buy the mirror, seeds, base, alterations, fossils, resonators, and so on, and only by utilizing every possible resource available to me, every mechanic and trick I learned about in all these years, was I able to make this happen. On the other side of that coin, it's a hilariously simple thing, a driftwood sceptre, something you find on the Twilight Strand where it all started.

If you're wondering why I chose a driftwood sceptre as base, it has .05 more attacks per second than any other sceptre, and this is for my pure phys build, so the implicit doesn't matter. While I could've gotten more damage using a dagger base, I want to leap slam, as whirling blades can't cross gaps. A staff doesn't offer as much damage or utility as two sceptres for me. It also looks super funny in my inventory because it's a 1x3 item, so it's extra tiny when a 2x3 sceptre is skin transferred onto it. You just don't get that with a dagger.

Here's a fun montage of the final moments before and after mirroring, cut together by my guildmate, I apologize for my annoying voice

Here's the process for crafting the item:

Acquire i84+ driftwood sceptre (80c base). You want the lowest viable ilvl that you can get, because it makes buying speed/crit seeds that are eligible to be used on the item more viable. If you can buy level 74 and 75 seeds, you can generally pay less for them than 76+ seeds.

Alt into T1 spell damage (~2000 alts). T1 spell damage is the rarest mod the item wants and there isn't a moderately deterministic way to secure it using a different process.

Divine to perfect spell damage using caster divines

    Save imprint using Craicic Chimeral

Aug, regal and augment with random mods until 3 prefixes or 5 mods in order to be eligible to fracture

Fracture using seed craft, and revert using imprint if it misses. If it does miss, go back two steps. This took 3 or 4 tries.

Hit with a gilded fossil (this is just for looks, it has no practical impact)

Hit with perfect fossils until 30 quality (normally this would just be for looks, but it does matter with the new enchantments)

Enchant for additional attack speed (this can happen at any point in the process)

3 White sockets using Vorici in research (it took 4 tries), doesn't matter when it's done.

Hit with a prime chaotic resonator using the Aetheric, Shuddering, Corroded, Metallic combination to get +1 all spell skill gems. This took 6 prime resonators, which cost about 500c in total including the fossils. This is normally a very very rare mod, however, this combination with fractured spell damage means 99% of the mod weight is blocked, so the resonator will give +1 all spell skill gems approximately 20% of the time according to my napkin math. It's possible to get no additional prefixes aside from the fractured spell damage.

This is the base item after hitting +1 all skill gems. The goal is to clean the suffixes off so we can get the +1 phys spell gems. I separate the prefixes and suffixes for clarity.

    Base item:

    109% increased Spell Damage (fractured)

+1 to Level of all Spell Skill Gems

    ---

    +37 to Intelligence

    14% increased Cast Speed

19% increased Critical Strike Chance for Spells

Crit annul to make room for prefixes can't be changed

    109% increased Spell Damage (fractured)

+1 to Level of all Spell Skill Gems

    ---

    +37 to Intelligence

    14% increased Cast Speed

    Craft prefixes can't be changed

    109% increased Spell Damage (fractured)

+1 to Level of all Spell Skill Gems

    ---

    +37 to Intelligence

    14% increased Cast Speed

    Prefixes can't be changed

Hit with scour to remove all suffixes

    109% increased Spell Damage (fractured)

+1 to Level of all Spell Skill Gems

    ---

    (no suffixes)

craft can't roll attack mods to block all physical mods other than +1 all phys spell gems

    109% increased Spell Damage (fractured)

+1 to Level of all Spell Skill Gems

    ---

    can't roll attack mods

Slam phys for guaranteed +1 phys gems

    109% increased Spell Damage (fractured)

+1 to Level of all Spell Skill Gems

+1 to Level of all Physical Skill Gems

    ---

    can't roll attack mods

Crit slam/swap to T1 crit multi. This part of the process was extremely painful. With can't roll attacks crafted on, there are are two possible mods available, spell crit chance, and global crit multi. If multi is on the item, using a remove crit/add crit craft is a 1/12 to get T1 multi. If chance is on the item, it's possible to crit slam for a 1/6 to get T1 multi, as both mods have 6 tiers with equal weighting. If both mods are on the item, I had to use a crit annul, and if it removed chance, I would have to swap the multi until it turned into chance, then crit slam for a 1/6 to get T1 multi. In other words, our best odds are crit slamming when multi is the only option, although there's a bit of a flow chart for what craft to use depending on what the outcome of a craft is. I don't want to think about how many ex worth of crit slams and swaps I used.

    T1 spell damage

    +1 phys

    +1 all

    ---

    Can't roll attacks

    T1 Crit multi

Remove craft for prefixes can't be changed

    T1 spell damage

    +1 phys

    +1 all

    ---

    T1 Crit multi

    Prefixes can't be changed

Caster slam which will either give cast speed or crit chance for spells

    T1 spell damage

    +1 phys

    +1 all

    ---

    Prefixes can't be changed

    T1 Crit multi

(either crit chance for spells or cast speed)

Caster swap until T1 crit chance for spells

    T1 spell damage

    +1 phys

    +1 all

    ---

    Prefixes can't be changed

    T1 Crit multi

    T1 Crit chance for spells

Divine until crit multi is perfect (crit divines or normal divines). The order of divining here is mildly important, as both crit multi and crit chance are crit tagged, but only chance is caster tagged. This means if we hit perfect on both rolls using either a crit or normal divine, we wouldn't need to use any caster divines on the next step, but once multi was top rolled, we could switch to the less expensive caster divine.

Divine until crit chance is perfect (caster divines)

    Remove craft

    T1 spell damage

    +1 phys

    +1 all

    ---

    T1 Crit multi

    T1 Crit chance for spells

Caster slam guaranteed cast speed, speed annul (or speed swap). This was the absolute worst part of the process. Speed seeds are so rare, and the chance of getting T1 cast speed was about 4% on a slam. I was insanely lucky to get it in about 3 lucky slams, although I realize the community is divided on what lucky even means for seedcrafts. In any case, I hit it far sooner than I should have. I screamed and slammed my desk and danced around my computer like an idiot. I loudly apologized to my neighbors who certainly could hear me through the floor.

    T1 spell damage

    +1 phys

    +1 all

    ---

    T1 cast speed

    T1 Crit multi

    T1 Crit chance for spells

    Speed divine cast speed

    Laugh, cry, Post on Reddit

FaQ about mirrors and skin transfers: You can mirror an item with a skin transfer on it, but the copy won't have a skin transfer. You can put a skin transfer on the copy. Probably seems obvious, but, now we know for sure how it works. Hopefully someone finds that info useful.

Heart of the Grove Conditionally GUIDE

    Posted: 13 Jul 2020 10:59 PM PDT

    • Harvest the Heart of the Grove without being affected by Sacred Suffering

Catchphrase: "Be one with the lifeforce."

During ORANGE PHASE, Sacred Suffering is the yellow patch created from her circle-root-wall skill. When you're inside the circle, you'll have to break the wall ASAP or else the middle totem in the circle will start create more yellow patch on the ground, that deals chaos-degen damage. So the faster you break the wall, the lesser the yellow patch ground she's created. Also this yellow patch seems to be permanent, it won't disappear till the fight end.

    • Harvest the Heart of the Grove without being hit by Orb of Thorns

Catchphrase: "Your flesh will nourish the soil."

During PURPLE PHASE, she'll have a charge up animation then shoot out a purple-vortex-version that shoot out purple projectiles. Best to hide behind a wall when you saw her her charging up the skill.

    • Harvest the Heart of the Grove without being hit by Vine Hammer

      Catchphrase: "Do not resist."

During GREEN/YELLOW PHASE, she'll spawn a giant hammer that'll slam the ground and deal splash damage, kinda like earthquake but with short duration and chartreuse color. Run away as far as you could when you saw the yellow hammer appear, the AOE splash is quite huge so advice to run away on sight.

    • Harvest the Heart of the Grove without being hit by Volatile Orchard

      Catchphrase: "I am the grove."

During BLUE PHASE, she'll have charge up animation then spawn out a row of snakes, then those snakes will turn themselves into blue-balls that'll chase towards you. Try run away from them then they'll disappear after few seconds.

Have to split up my guide for this one due to words limit =/ Anyway hope it helps! :D
