As a filthy casual, grinding for Oni-Goroshi was the best decision I ever made!

    Posted: 23 Jul 2020 06:06 AM PDT

I love poe! I love theorycrafting, i love playing individual builds, this game has just everything I need for a time sink after a long day at work. But I have to admit I reealy suck at it. I've been playing every 2nd-3rd League since Tempest/Warbands and only reached Endgame once with a COC Ethereal Knives Deadeye in Betrayal and it wasn't even able to do Tier 1 maps.

I am aware that there are some nice vendor recipies which can make your leveling experience a lot easier, but since i am (most of the time) not following any build guide I'm still progressing very slowly through the acts (about 1 act a day, I don't really have that much time to play, especially during the week).

But this Season was nothing like my previous experiences! I've started the League about 1 Week in and decided to grind 6-8 hours for Oni-Goroshi, since I never had a 6 link before and I dont mind grinding that much (especially since 6-8 hours is a fairly short time compared to how long it usually takes me to even reach lategame)

And oh boy was i having a blast. I absolutely stomped all of the content and reached mapping within a day! I never had to constantly upgrade to a better weapon, and had a six link right from the beginning. Taking the Chieftain Ascendency was also a very good Idea, because all the fire resist did not only negated my oni-goroshi debuff, I also only had to mind about capping 2 other resists (capping all 3 elemental resistances was another thing I struggled with every league).

I don't even know if anyone is interested in a (dedicated) filthy casuals pov but I just wanted to share the awesome experience I had this League. Thanks to just this single item i am now able to get into the beatuiful world of mapping, farming and crafting for the first time in my life and I am now wondering how i could get so much joy out of the most boring part of the game in all those years.

Also: the Oni-Goroshi voicelines are such a treat to listen to, awesome job GGG!

Edit: i hate all those "thanks for the gold kind stranger" edits, but not apreciating it just feels soo ungrateful, so yea thanks a lot anonymous redditor you made my day👍

GGG, please consider player's health a higher priority.

    Posted: 22 Jul 2020 11:22 PM PDT

I mostly mean our wrists / hands. Back in Metamorph they thought it would be great idea to make us click each organ at first. We still have flasks at their current state. Perandus coins drop in small stacks from one source when they could just drop in one big stack. Splinters from Legion / Metamorph / Deliriuous maps (?) still drop one by one. In Harvest we have to click seeds when they could just go in seed cache automatically. In general pick up radius is super small and you have to be precise when picking up every single thing. No autosort for loot as well so nightmare continues when you are dealing with stash tabs too.

There are so many pointless things that make us click and make extra micro-movements. There should be less strain on our hands / wrists not more with each League.

Please, GGG, consider player's health a higher priority in the future.

Edit. Yes, your health is in your own hands (largely), but it doesn't give GGG free reign to design / keep systems in annoying ways putting unnecessary strain on our wrists / hands for no good reason ("item weight" in 2020...) nor does it mean that these micro-movement heavy things should stay like that forever.

Also things like larger pickup radius or splinters dropping in higher stacks would make experience better and less annoying for everyone, not just people who have issues. It's just good QoL things.

Deafening essences need to be updated back to having "T0" crafts

    Posted: 23 Jul 2020 05:12 AM PDT

Essences used to have an edge allowing you to craft further than what the normal pool of mods gave to you

But with time GGG added better mods to the game, pushing further the values of what a T1 mod it

ie: 30% Movement speed was T1, the goal for boots at least unless you used Deafening essence of Zeal that allowed 32% MS. Somewhere around 3.6, GGG pushed Movement speed further and added 35% MS in the pool of normal mods, shadowing Deafening essence of zeal

many other mods have met such sad fate

I would be nice if they were updated back to have a little edge compared to normal mods or just at least craft T1

Whether you like Harvest or not I can't recall the last time the community was so engaged with the discussion of the direction of the game

    Posted: 23 Jul 2020 07:22 AM PDT

I think Harvest whether you like the league or not or think the items are too powerful, I can't remember a league (and I've been around since about Beta) where the community was this engaged with the discussion around a league going core or with the direction of a major pillar of the game (in this case crafting and itemization). I think it's a testament to pushing the envelope of league design and using the 3 month league cycle to "experiment" with the direction of the game in a really clever way. I personally have really enjoyed harvest and will probably be playing all the way up till they turn the servers off to merge w/ standard but regardless of if Harvest stays or goes this league for me is a great example of why I trust GGG to keep putting out great content

GGG can we get Import/Export garden layout option?

GGG can we get Import/Export garden layout option?

I have had poor eyesight since I was a child. (btw I wear glasses) Nothing was too much of a problem in the game before, but since Harvest came out I have had problems with the garden. It's hard for me to see connections between some Pylons etc, especially when there are many connections of different life forces in one place. It would be great if you could introduce the import / export garden layout option. (Or at least the choice of displaying individual life force, e.g. click-through options to display only Vivid life force etc) I imagine that for many players this is not a problem, but I think there would be a few people who would be helped a lot by such improvements. If this topic has already been discussed, let me know, I will delete this thread. I don't follow Reddit very often. Best regards.

How to prevent wrist RSI while using a computer

    Posted: 23 Jul 2020 01:17 PM PDT

How to prevent wrist RSI while using a computer

Since it is highly unlikely that POE will get less click-intensive any time soon, here are some simple steps you can follow to put minimal strain in your wrists while using a computer:

    1. Rest your arm on your table, and grab the mouse like the attached picture shows.
    2. Move your mouse by moving your arm with your elbow, NOT the wrist. If you are used to using the wrist, this might be the hardest step to get used to, but it's worth it.
    3. If you still have issues, take breaks often.
    4. Enjoy your RSI-free life.

For using the keyboard, the advise is the same, arm resting on your table, wrist on a straight line with your arm, move your arm and not your wrist to get to keys that are not near the ones you use often.

What does having POESESSID grant to tools?

    Posted: 23 Jul 2020 09:04 AM PDT

Does anyone have a clear understanding of what having someone's POESESSID lets a tool do? Old tools like Acquisition and Procurement and new tools like ReForge require it. PoE's oauth server warns that this grants "access your basic profile information, including a unique account identifier."

    • Can they see all your public tabs, regardless of privacy settings? (I assume yes, and I have no concerns about that.)

    • Can they see all of your private tabs, regardless of privacy settings? (Something I may not want but might be willing to risk.)

    • Can they see all of your characters, gear, and inventories, regardless of privacy settings? (Something I may not want but might be willing to risk.)

    • Can they read your messages? (Something that could be used to hijack an account by being able to answer challenge questions that GGG support staff ask.)

    • Can they see your IRL email address? (privacy issue + account hijack risk)

    • Can they change your account's associated email address? (obvious account hijack risk)

    • Can they see your transaction history? (privacy + hijack risk)

    • Can they see your item filters? (I don't care, but perhaps others do)

    • Can they see your private PvP information? (I don't care, but perhaps others do)

Context: this concern was recently raised in https://redd.it/hw9op8, and I found this older post warning about sharing the session id https://redd.it/78j0qk. If we share the session id with a tool, we need to not just trust that the tool isn't malicious, but also that the tool won't get compromised by someone who is. If the tools only get read-only access, and especially if it can be limited to parts of your data (e.g. only stash tabs but not message or transaction history), then these concerns might be overblown.

EDIT: I removed wording about oauth: that part of reforge seems reasonably safe. The concerning part is that after authenticating with oauth, reforge asks for your POESESSID which grants it full access to the web part of your account, so the rest of the questions are still relevant. Note: I've only had good experiences in game with those behind reforge. Clearly they've put a lot of work into their tool, as others have with other tools. But giving them such powerful access as the session id, especially in a remote service, means not just trusting them but also their ability to properly secure their servers. Writing good applications is hard. Making them secure is even harder.

Harvest crafting is excellent - make it core pls

    Posted: 23 Jul 2020 05:22 AM PDT

Even getting 3-4 out of 6 desireable mods on an item was, unless very lucky, basically an unreachable goal pre-Harvest league. You could spend 40-50 ex on a single piece of gear without hitting those 3-4 mods you wanted for a build. And it is not an issue of being too casual. I've had several lvl 100 characters in HC over the past year and I've farmed every end game boss available with my self crafted gear (not ssf). I play a fuckton, but i still have a day job and i would like to continue making items as good as i have during harvest league in upcoming leagues without quitting my job lol. This game has the best itemization of any game ever imo, and harvest kinda highlights it.

That being said, I can understand that getting 6 T1 mods is really fucking silly, but so is spending an ex for every imprint beast hoping you hit something half decent on a 10 ex base you spent 5 ex in alts on.

I'd be fine with end game bosses being buffed in return for making crafting easier. Fuck the garden tho...
