Have not played since the "Ambush" league, looking for a league started build to strart heisting

    Posted: 10 Sep 2020 11:12 PM PDT

Helllo fellow exiles! , As the title says, last time I played PoE was many years ago, where the latest league was "Ambush".

Now I got my gf into the game and am trying to find a build to start the new league, but theres sooo much new content, gems, characters, equipment, ways of playing, that got me really lost.

I was always a more warrior-assasin type of guy, I never enjoyed too much the mage playstyle. Back on the day my highest level characters were a facebreaker ,a cyclone, and a reave.

So I would like to try a new one maybe with a new skill introduced to the game since i last played (Easy i think).... where i can use swords-daggers .

Reading I liked the idea of Blade storm + blade blast , but feels like its not a good league starter builds since depends too much on specific items that will take time to get...
I am looking for a new league started build, that has a decent guide to follow on gems and skill tree.
Also, my gf is into desacrating corpses so she wants to go with "volatile dead" . Maybe I can have a character that adapts to her playstyle?
Thanks and i will appreciate any feedback!

Finally got a couple friends into the game and one of them wants a “fire mage boom” guy

    Posted: 10 Sep 2020 02:05 PM PDT

    He wants explosions!

Unfortunately he doesn't want melee so the ones I know are off the menu. He made a witch for his first character and found that he liked the totems being very set and forget so that's open to him. Wondering if anyone has any noob friendly suggestions so I can bring him something to work with next league?

Edit: thanks for all the feedback! It seems I made this post prematurely too. The new firestorm is literally perfect haha. I think he's going to go with that. Thanks again!

    Ascendancy crackling lance

Hoping we are going to see good numbers on the gem, what do you see as the best route to play the new skill?

Assassin going crit? Inquisitor going crit/eo? Elementalist?

    Blazing Salvo, suggestions?

    Posted: 11 Sep 2020 03:13 AM PDT

What are your suggestions, how to build it? I guess self cast could work, but totems, mines, traps or triggers sound a bit better to me. For example I could just pop totems and manually add the fire wall depending on the positioning of the enemy and the totems. Self cast sounds the least appealing to me. What do you think will be the best way to play it?

Seeking Arcanist Brand Whispering Ice / Sire of Shard builds

    Posted: 11 Sep 2020 02:08 AM PDT

I love weird wonky stuff and tried Int Stacking CwC Whispering Ice in Harvest. Wanted to try it with Arcanist Brand but I don't have much PoB skill (also PoB just doesn't have Arcanist Brand right now)

Is there a polished Arcanist Brand build out there that I can try out for Heist league?

Ice Crash Juggernaut. 2h-Axe Version. 90% Crit Rate. 12mil+ Shaper DPS

Wanted to share a build that no one else seemed to use this season.

My first self made character that took me through harvest.

Will be playing this in Heist and tinkering with it to take it even further.

Videos and info are all in PoE forum link. Have a great Heist friends!

I spent about 10 ex trying to flip colors in my helm, so videos taken show a very slow base leap slam. That and im naturally slower due to latency using a cloud gaming service. Flame Dash or something can also be put into the 6l chest which will get second wind and speed up mapping a ton. Since the build doesnt rely on leap slam stuns to gain endurance charges. This build was far from perfected, but it was good enough to kill anything.

Flame dash version, just a short example video that speeds up mapping. I will still use leap slam w/faster attacks in the future because of delve and the stuns help a ton defensively.

Potential 3.12 Starter Explosive Arrow Ballista (Flame Wall?)

    Posted: 11 Sep 2020 05:32 AM PDT

Hi, since we haven't heard of any changes related to bowskills and/or ballistas yet, I was thinking about playing Explosive Arrow with ballista support. The idea is to get the 20 Arrow-Stacks as fast as possible.

So, with 3.12 we will have this new Flame Wall. Flame Wall adds fire-damage to projectiles. Is this added damage relevant or abusable with Explosive Arrow?

My goals with this build are high tier red maps as well as the various bosses. I think bossing will be quiet good, but I'm not sure about mapping. How is the clearspeed?

There are one or two build guides with Explosive Arrow Ballistas but they are using cluster jewels to get the damage high enough. Since they mostly guttet the cluster jewels, it will be much harder to get good ones. Any recommendations or even pobs? Which ascendancy?

I'm kinda lost, help is appreciated

    Archmage Ball Lightning Variations

    Posted: 11 Sep 2020 05:20 AM PDT

So I've decided to leaguestart as an Archmage Ball Lightning build in Heist (barring any huge nerfs in upcoming patch notes), however I'm trying to understand the strengths and weaknesses between the few different variations on the build I've seen. All 3 builds I want to discuss are very very similar (Agnostic/MoM based, Pledge of Hands) but I'd like to see some discussion on the differences between them to better understand how I might want to build a character during Heist.

    1. Classic approach to this build - a Hierophant with Elemental Overload, high mana regen from ascendancy + Enduring mana flask. Defensive layers mainly coming from very high MoM (Hierophant + Cloak of Defiance), Agnostic, Endurance Charges + Ailment immune from Hierophant, and a few staff-focused block nodes. Example: https://poe.ninja/challenge/builds/char/papagriffin117/VieuMonsieur%C3%89lectrique

    2. Very similar to first build but with Scion - Pathfinder+Hiero sub-ascendancies, Elemental Overload, Enduring mana flask, speed and flask regen from Pathfinder node. Mostly all the same defensive layers as the Hierophant version however we sacrifice Ailment immunity and Endurance charges and in return we can reach Acrobatics/Phase Acrobatics from Ranger starting point. Example: https://poe.ninja/challenge/builds/char/Mayinq/VanessaElivette

    3. Newer approach to this build? - Scion with Pathfinder+Inquisitor sub-ascendancies, crit-based, abusing Foreboding mana flask spam which allows you to mostly ignore mana regen elsewhere. Defensive layers are a bit more bareboned, weaker MoM without Hiero ascendancy, Ailment immune from Inquisitor (although a bit conditional), and the focus on crit nodes make it pretty awkward to reach Phase Acrobatics. This seems like it might be the glass cannon out of the three? Example: https://poe.ninja/challenge/builds/char/teppei_mobius/MrsBallsxxxHarvest

Does anyone have experience with this build or thoughts on these variations and which they prefer/would recommend? I'm not worried about how viable this is as a starter (I understand it's not Spellslinger/EDC/TR and I don't care), I just haven't been able to find much discussion on this build.

With the Crackling lance reveal, I did a complete 180 on what I wanted to play next league. I quickly threw together this PoB, please let me know how I can improve.

    Posted: 11 Sep 2020 01:24 AM PDT

    https://pastebin.com/QssWDQjV

Its not complete, but I'm planning on going non-archmage crit Crackling lance inquis with glancing blows max block, hybrid life/es, and MoM for defencives. The tree is probably not that great, I just searched for generic nodes and pathed to them, if there are notables worth picking up nearby let me know.

I'm also considering using cluster jewels but I havent looked into those notables yet because the refrence I have is outdated.

    Thanks!

    Zoom zoom + Lab Farmer

    Posted: 10 Sep 2020 10:35 PM PDT

Any suggestions? I've done TR Trickster, split arrow miner, Ice shot deadeye, and aura stacker during delirium. I really like the playstyle of rangers/bow builds (shooting arrows etc) but am open to suggestions.

Wanting something that can run T16's fast, can survive the upgraded uber labs for belt enchants, and decent single target damage.

Assassin defensive layer: strong enough to not fail grand heists?

    Posted: 11 Sep 2020 02:33 AM PDT

I have never played assassin and wanted to focus on this ascendy this league, but now that I know that Heist has a medium-core mechanics (you die you loose loot), I'm concerned about the defensive status of the Assassin ascendy.I would appreciate inputs from Assassins players, and answers for a few questions.

    **On the Assassin ascendy itself:**

    - Mistwalker: Elusive and crit immunity. How is the up time on the crit immunity, and do you think it is in itself a strong defensive layer?

    - Opportunistic: The reduced damage while at least 2 rare monsters are nearby seems appealing for the Heist escape rush where we get swarmed. Do we know what is "nearby" here, and do you feel that it has enough uptime in juiced map?

**On the type of build I plan:**

I plan on playing a generic wand+shield elemental spell crit build to explore blazing salvo, the new firestorm or crackling lance. I want to be open to self cast or spellslinger depending on the skill setup, at the cost of a few regret orbs. So the tree will mostlikely focus on power charges and the spell crit nodes on the top skill area to have generic crit damage and access to spellslinger nodes if needed. The position on the tree makes it that between- Life + Acro / Phase Acro + Wind Dancer- Hybrid life/ES + Glancing glow (will see about CI/LL much latter I mostly thinking early league here)the second option appears better to me.

**Is this tanky enough and what are early league options**

So let's say Mistwalker + Opportunistic + Hybrid life/ES + 1h/shield Glancing glow.I believe this is not enough in itself, what do you think?

I'll try to fit in a CwdT IC/steel skin, and/or maybe fortify on shield charge but I won't have much accuracy and I believe I will be gem slot starved (for sure if I go spellslinger)

At some point I'll get life or ES recovery on block, but I'm missing on blind / higher max res / Ailment immunity, phys dmg reduction, and I may forget other defensive layer.

Do you see something obvious that I can add "for cheap" in an early league environment to be quite survival in Heists / Grand Heists ?Do you think the build should be fine by itself?

EDIT: I don't see the **text** in bold... I thought it was the right way...

I was watching a lot of bleed lacerate glad on sirus fight, and all of them have 2 m dps on pob. But sirus looks like die way faster than a 2 million dps on him. So PoB do not calculate bleed well?

    Posted: 10 Sep 2020 05:26 PM PDT

Bleed lacerate is probably a good league starter to heist cause his tankiness!

How is Ignite Damage Calculated if Potentially Applied by Different Damage Types?

    Posted: 10 Sep 2020 11:07 AM PDT

This might be a stupid question that I'm making unnecessarily complicated in my head. I understand how ignites are calculated based off of the hit damage and any DoT multipliers that apply to ignite, but I can't seem to find information on what happens if your hit has multiple damage types that could cause an ignite.

For example Fireball with Archmage and Stormfire. Does the fire damage of Fireball add to the lightning damage of Archmage when the ignite is calculated or does the game apply two ignites, one from the fire damage of fireball and one from the lightning damage of Archmage, and use the higher damage ignite?

Tawhoa's Chosen worth it for a consecrated path build? (PoB link included)

    Posted: 10 Sep 2020 08:22 PM PDT

Build in question as follows. This build is WITHOUT GEAR apart from a weapon I think I'd like to try using (Doomsower).

    https://pastebin.com/ZvAZ9B1m

The biggest uncertainty I have is what to use my 4th ascendancy point on. Right now it's set to Sun's Light (DoT multi, ignite chance, fire pen) because it gave me the biggest estimated boost vs Sirus. PoB doesn't seem to be able to account for Tawhoa's Chosen, however, so I have no idea how good that might actually be for me.

I'd also consider Storm's Embrace to take advantage of the fact that I'll be using infernal cry very frequently and will also likely be losing charges at least every 8 seconds with a level 2 CDT immortal call.

Other concerns: My last 4L I'm using for damage boosters. I'm torn between (Vaal) Ancestral Warchief+protector (with multitotem), bloodrage, and curse on hit flamability (on leap slam). Bloodrage is more damage thanks to frenzy charges, but I'm unconvinced i'll be able to keep them up on longer boss fights.

Looking for dps + aurabot builds to clear t15 100% delirious maps in early heist

    Posted: 10 Sep 2020 09:46 AM PDT

Hello, I'm looking for a build that can clear these maps fairly early into the league while a friend runs an aurabot. I was thinking of a kb wander or penance brand inquistor but do not have any PoB's to reference for these builds. Does anyone have any first hand experience for these types of builds? Would like to be able to clear without hh and will eventually farm one.

    Any tanky ice shot builds?

    Posted: 10 Sep 2020 04:47 PM PDT

I played an ice shot deadeye back in 3.9, and while I loved the playstyle, it had ZERO defensive layers.

Has anyone had any luck, or have a guide/POB link to an ice shot build that is a bit beefy? Thanks!

Critiques for my BF/BB Assassin && League Starting Advice

    Posted: 10 Sep 2020 11:55 AM PDT

Threw together this pretty generic tree for a BF/BB Assassin. Looks pretty insane for defenses and damage as well. I still feel the build could use some fine tuning though. Also, looking for a bit of advice going into a league start. Might also be worth looking into an Inquis variant in the event that Assassin gets hit with big nerf hammer as well. IDK really, looking for some opinions from others.

Help with what Wander/shield build to play next season.

    Posted: 10 Sep 2020 01:58 PM PDT

Hey all, I've been trying to think of a build I want to play last season.

Harvest I played a Bleed Bow Glad, and a CoC Cyclone Assassin. Previous leagues I've made Scourge Arrow pathfinders, Vortex Occultist, Molten Strike Jugg, Ele hit Ascendant.

The CoC assassin I made had probably the best gear of any character I've ever played (thanks Harvest), and it made one thing pretty clear, I really prefer ranged characters. That being said, I've made a ton of bow characters, so I wanted to stay away from that, which leaves me with a wander.

Technically my Vortex Occultist is a wander, but she wasn't really ranged.

So I've been looking at a wander build to play, but I've been struggling to find one that appeals to me. VD/CE Necro is the obvious one (assuming no nerfs), but I was looking for alternatives. I've seen some KB builds, but the majority I've seen are like 300 ex+ builds that just herald/aura stack, and those can use pretty much anything.

Can you guys/gals help me think of any other ranged wander builds that work not too badly as a league start?

    Thanks!
