Shattering Steel Glad - An extremely viable (SSF) league starter

    Posted: 11 Oct 2020 04:35 PM PDT

A few days ago, out of pure excitement I made a post here as a build showcase

This post, I wanted to share an updated PoB and explanation on why I think this works better than lacerate for softcore, and why I think this would make an excellent league starter (because...look at my gear, its nothing special).

I have cleared Cortex, Shaper, Elder, A8 Sirus, and am currently working on Uber Elder. As I've had my fair share of dozens of deaths on A8 sirus, I find that Shaper and Uber Elder are actually the hardest fights for me, oddly enough.

I wanted to more in depth on the skill tree, and why I changed some things. And I wanted to go more in depth on the items, and suggest possible upgrade paths for those who are like me and like a little direction and not just the end product.

    The build: https://controlc.com/c5a5ebfd

The skill tree changes: The Unnatural Instinct that I found through Heists is obviously great, but I figured I could get more mileage out of those passive points. I needed more damage and less QoL, and I thought it's the right choice to not go out of my way for it. I specced out of retaliation because it wasn't the strongest node I could take. There were better options. This leaves a ton of passive points. Deadly Draw is great for DoTs, and Point Blank synergizes well with Shattering Steel (as Shattering Steel already scales ailments with close range hits....so does point blank). So the PoB dps I'm going to assume does not account for point blank and the skills 100% more damage close range, so you get 2.6x more damage if I am understanding correctly (2 * 1.3, 2 from shattering tooltip, 1.3 from point blank).

Item changes: he other thing I picked up that is huge, is my poachers mark on hit ring I got from carelessly chaos spamming on an elder vermillion ring. This gives a little sustain, but -20% physical damage reduction which is huge, and flat phys which is nice. This is my gear which can easily handle A8 Sirus and "tank the beam" due to Immortal Call's CWDT setup, assuming I dont get unlucky and stand in the crossbeams. I also took the liberty to add elemental avoidance to achieve 100% elemental avoidance, which means I'd "avoid" chills, freezes, shocks, etc, if I am understanding correctly. Not huge, but a nice QoL.

    Room for minmax

I'll start off with saying that awakened hextouch support or annointing Whispers of Doom (3 golden oil) will give another 36% more damage. It'd be the single biggest upgrade I can get with my current gear, that is 100% realistic/achievable. I'll also say that my gear (outside for a couple items) is exceptionally mediocre and was chaos rolled until I settled. This is to say, min-max your resists, slap as much health on items, and get chaos res and you can easily go Xibaqua, which I think would make you a ton tankier. Obtaining as much health on items, chaos resistance to hit 80% max res would make you pretty tanky. Taking some damage away to go 200-220% max life would probably make you some kind of immortal.

    Item path upgrades:

Weapon: any high p dps weapon --> any axe (once you spec into axes) --> any high p dps axe --> any i83 elder axe w/ 60% chance for 100% more bleed damage --> any high pdps elder axe w/ same bleed mod

Shield: High armor, high life, resists --> surrender --> well rolled shaper or warlord shield for life on block (well rolled meaning high armor, life, res, w/ life on block)

Helmet: Any base w/ high resists (including chaos if necessary).

Chest: Likely a rare hybrid dex/str base, with plenty of life and resists. If you want to get crazy, crafting + chance to block attack damage might be worth it to free up passive points. if you want some crazy endurance charge / mana cost QoL, go warlords chest.

Gloves: Any gloves with plenty of resists and life --> elder gloves (for block chance and also DoT, bleeding affixes) --> elder gripped gloves (for projectile damage).

Boots: 30%+ movement speed + high life >> any other stat.

Ring: Any ring to give life, res, missing stats --> Vermillion ring --> Elder vermillion ring (for poachers) and Warlords vermilion ring. Replace vermillion with steel if you dont care about life.

Amulet: Any amulet to give life, resists, missing stats --> Intelligence amulet --> Elder intelligence amulet (gives nice things like phys dot, reduced phys dmg)

Belt: Well rolled stygian + any corrupted blood jewel.

CWDT Spell Cast Loop - Poison Blade Blast Pathfinder

Looking to respec my 94 templar as a boss killer, what are the cheapest sirus 8 killers I could setup?

    Posted: 12 Oct 2020 12:14 AM PDT

Dont want to risk exp on my other character - build doesnt have to map well or even do the fight deathless as long as it doesnt blow all 6 portals. Thinking ice spear totems but I'm not sure how much gear that takes to kill sirus 8 compared to something like HoP guardian

    Facebreaker, and replica last resort?

    Posted: 12 Oct 2020 02:06 AM PDT

Running a Rigwalds Curse and facebreaker. Found a replica last resort which is 50% attack speed, 100% accuracy and 200% increased damage with claws while on low life, deal no damage when not on low life. So I figured cowards legacy, and then a high int weapon in the main hand so Replica LR is active in the off hand.

I vaguely remember reading something similar like that could work. But I just can't remember, just wanted to double check before I go forward with this weird build experiment

    LF decent tanky bosskiller

    Posted: 12 Oct 2020 12:56 AM PDT

    Hi all,

I'm looking for build who can kill bosses smooth and safe. I don't need a build which deletes all bosses in 2 secs and insane map clear is also not necessary, mediocre clear is enough. And also tanking sirus storms or his die beams is not a requirement.

My budget is around 17 ex atm, if would sell items from my champion, budget would be around 32 ex.

What I don't want to play: Traps/Mines. Archmage builds. Earthstatter.

thanks in advance for any recommendations.

    Ground slam call of steel

    Posted: 11 Oct 2020 09:18 PM PDT

Ive been playing this build and following zizaran's lets play, and i just hit maps. The build is feeling pretty good. But i have been seeing people saying that stacking facebreakers would be better.

Im a relatively new player, never tried making my own build before i just want to ask if anyone knows if i get more 1 hit damage with unarmed facebreakers or a big 2 handed axe?

Dead end with Glacial Hammer Inquisitor?

    Posted: 12 Oct 2020 02:36 AM PDT

    Here's my guy: https://www.pathofexile.com/account/view-profile/reevelainen/characters

Maybe I just don't understand this build throughly, but I can't figure out how am I supposed to defence myself? I don't stack armor or block, and the next upgrade rolls (like chaos resistance) are super expensive. I haven't gotten too far, got around 50chaoses. Should I just make another character?

I'm doing these yellow maps just fine, but I just can't see how I'm supposed to survive higher tier.

I only have about 50c right now and I'm on console so prices for things are higher for us compared to pc. If anyone has a good build guide link it below please! :)

    Flicker strike ascendancy

    Posted: 11 Oct 2020 12:34 PM PDT

I wanna try out flicker strike but I am not sure which class I should start as. Poe ninja shows that most people play gladiator but there are also berserkers, raiders and so on.

I have a headhunter as well as around 80ex to spend if that makes any difference.

Which class did you enjoy the most when playing flicker strike?

I need tips to fix my build

I need tips to fix my build

So my current build is a cyclone champion and I have (what I consider to be) great dps but poor survivablity yet statistically I shouldn't have as much trouble as I do. I have 12k dps when I'm hitting enemies have WAY more than enough resistance for everything except chaos. My Path of building won't share with pastebin and the long code is WAY to long to put in a post so my steam account is bossrman and the character is Zeebass. Here is a picture of the tree with the exception of ascendancies.

    Actum Cyclone Berserker

    Posted: 12 Oct 2020 12:41 AM PDT

    The build centers around [Actum]

    https://pastebin.com/XjW3iXYE

The idea is to not rely on crit chance due to the weapon. Though the one I have has a low crit at 28 with flask it is like 43 ish. Which isn't poor, but it isn't great. So bring on the multi. Enter the lovely [Marylene's Fallacy].

To off set this I devoted to speed to counteract the low crit. Think, fire more shots and more crits will come, due to rate of fire. Thus I chose Cyclone and Berserker.

Initially I spec'd Rite of Ruin which was nice. The damage was great and the degen was not that bad. As I got into early mapping I ran into more degen than I wanted to deal with. Change to Blitz since it was what I saw being superior in the grand scheme of things. It was by a noticeable margin. Aspect of Carnage was the last pick up because raw damage.

Looking forward though I may opt back into Rite of Ruin again, but this time I would drop Aspect of Carnage. Simply because I want to try out an [Abyssus]. Can't have a double increased damage taken.

If this happens I will also spec out of the Unwavering Stance and Iron Reflexes, to pick up another Jewel slot and Proficiency. I also annointed Heartseeker for the multi.

Early mapping a [Praxus] and [Mutewind Pennant] were so nice. There was an issue about mana cost so I grabbed a run of the mill Shaper shield for mana reservation.

I don't know the extent of the dps on end game things. But currently I can do T12s with no real problem. Here and there I pop Vaal Molten Shell and/or Berserk. I am also only on a 5 link and feel quite safe. Though with Abyssus I will no doubt die more. Just want to see the damage difference.

Last link would be Pulverise but I feel like ruthless might be better since I slap really fast.

    In conclusion, thoughts on improving.

    Build Using New Mechanics?

    Posted: 11 Oct 2020 01:46 PM PDT

I'm currently playing a Spider + Spectre necro at the moment and progressing through the atlas, but I'm not 100% sure if I want to invest into it more than necessary. I started league kind of late, but I'm at about 3-4 ex right now and could probably upgrade the build decently nicely, but it already crushes everything so far.

Ideally, I want to start investing in a build that uses some alternate quality gems or new/replica uniques. Replica Alberon's with a Boom Mace seems kind of fun, AAA with HoT could be cool (I never played it in Harvest), Discharge Slayer with Replica Farrul's sounds strong as hell but pricey, and other than that I'm kind of clueless. Any ideas for something else? I always like playing around with gimmicky or niche stuff.

I got a hunter dagger base with damage over time and malevolence aura effect on. Sure this is something better out there that I am missing. Any ideas/help would be appreciated

Theory Crafting 100% cold to fire conv. Wild Strike build using Voidforge

    Posted: 11 Oct 2020 07:49 PM PDT

Kind of a confusing situation. I planned to make a 100% cold to fire conversion wild strike build on raider (phasing and onslaught ascendancy). I'm using the combat focus jewels so wild strike only chooses cold. So far, it's easy to see what I'm doing; I'm basically double dipping on my elemental damage to get a decent boost + the decent extra damage as fire from the cold to fire support jewel.

Here's the confusing part. I'm planning to use a voidforge. For those who dont know, voidforge converts 100% of your physical damage to 300% damage of a random element. Here's my question:

    1. would my weapon dictate the outcome of my damage or the weapon? I'm assuming that the weapon will convert my physical damage into elemental damage of a random element first, which bring me to my next question.
    2. If Voidforge decides to deal lightning damage, will my cold to fire converted wild strike deal lightning damage? If this is the case, it means 1/3rd of the time, my damage will be almost null.
    3. Without any jewels for wild strike, i have a combination of 3 * 3 = 9 different outcome of my damage type. with cold only wild strike i have a 1/3 chance to deal cold damage, which will give me my best damage output and 2/3 of deciding between lightning and fire. Is this trade off worth the hassle of using voidforge?

If anyone knows a lot about how these calculations work, I'd really appreciate an explanation and perhaps a formula of some type to calculate the outcome of my damage.

    Thanks and stay sane exiles!

What to build with this armour?

What to build with this armour?

    https://preview.redd.it/nvlei4jz6is51.png?width=291&format=png&auto=webp&s=8e2b0cb03d0f872290124ff369a5246011e7dc6c

First time I've actually found a nice rare, so if possible I'd like to try and build around it myself. Problem is that as far as I've read stat-stacking builds tend to be quite expensive (I've never played one) and I don't have a lot of time to play (full-time job and dad of 2). So far in Heist I've collected only 3 ex + 30 c, so that's pretty much my budget. A bit more if I give up my current character (Storm Burst Totem Pathfinder/Hierophant with Indigon) and sell my 6-link Soul Mantle, that's her most expensive item...

I've never done most of the end-game content, so I'd like to build something that's good at bossing. Had my first Elder kill in Harvest, but I've never taken down Sirus, Shaper or Uber Elder.

From browsing the wiki and google my 2 ideas at the moment are [[Iron Commander]] or some build with Hollow Palm Technique. Siege Ballistas seems the safer and less expensive of the two from what I can find, but the nearby enemies are blinded mod seems kind of wasted on a ranged ballista build. I've never played a melee build before and would be interested to build something tanky with good single target damage, but not sure if it's possible to make Hollow Palm work on such a small budget.

Main characters I've played so far are LL non-crit self-cast Arc Elementalist (my first character in Standard, took down some guardians but that's it, not so good at bossing because of self-cast and reliant on Golem buffs), Elemental Hit wander (great mapping but not tanky enough, managed Elder with this one, for other bosses the damage was too low and got killed eventually b/c of having to stand still to shoot), and now Storm Burst Totems. I do like the Totem playstyle w/ Pathfinder flask movement speed and I actually went for this because it's probably better for bossing due to being able to dodge around in the back while totems shoot. Not sure if my current char can take on end game, still clearing normal conquerors on my way to first Sirus fight. Probably a bit too squishy, though (3.1k life / 2.9k mana MoM, but mana is often gone against single target for building up Indigon damage). I do get one-shot occasionally while mapping.

    Looking for fast build

    Posted: 11 Oct 2020 03:18 PM PDT

I really want to do something fast with Herald of Ash this league, but I did BV last league and want to try something new. Right now I have a 40ex budget, and will most likely farm with the build to get HH. I saw on poeninja that glacial cascade and fireball mines were using it, but just not sure the speed I can push a mine build to. Burning arrow is another build I looked into but want to see what everyone recommends.

One final note is that I already have a pretty strong bosser and this build would pretty much only need to clear map bosses.
