Unpopular mayhem opinion: 10 breaches which you can only open in sequence are not going to be fun

    Posted: 29 Nov 2020 11:46 AM PST

Note: Delirium aside, as 10 sequential breaches will simply allow you to run a whole map without worrying about the timer at all...

Allow us to open multiple breaches at the same time or make them 3 super breaches, each spawning monsters x3 from 3 random breach types.

Breach has been nerfed multiple times in the past and it now has so many issues which make it feel dated or overly nerfed.

Mayhem aside I hope breach gets some sort of update in the coming leagues to tackle its issues:

    • the last third of a breach opening is mostly spent waiting for the breach to collapse

    • splinters drop in single stacks, even when killing a breach lord he will drop 8++ single stacks of splinters, wtf?

    • breaches are a bad source for breach splinters, you can get 8+ stacks of splinters or even whole breach stones from multiple other league mechanics

Anyways, this is just one of my personal rants about the lack of maintenance or updates to core PoE mechanics // older league mechanics.

Since saved hideouts are a text based file, similar to loot filters, wouldn't it be possible to have a web-based hideout editor similar to FilterBlade? Is anyone working on this yet?

    Posted: 29 Nov 2020 01:06 PM PST

After successfully using Sublime Text to move an intricate map device decoration from one HO to another I realized that editing hideouts should be possible out of game via software that could give you more precise control over decorations with clear boundaries instead of the "poke at it" method we use in game. The idea I have in my head is something like the StarCraft map editor.

It seems like a rather large undertaking for a programmer to attack but that's never stopped this community before, so I wondered if anyone was already working on software or a web client that can do this.

JS script to sort MTX by price (low-->high) on official PoE site

    Posted: 29 Nov 2020 03:24 AM PST

    Hello

(post made not user-friendly on purpose, because in involves running script on site where you can spend points you buy for real money, which is something you should 100% avoid to do unless you understand what's going on)

Script to run from console (on poe shop pages) to sort MTX sales by price:

     // 1. find all blocks const container = document.querySelector('.shopItems') const alldivs = Array.from(container.querySelectorAll('.shopItem, .shopItemPackage')); // 2. sort them alldivs.sort((a, b)=>{ let price_a = Number(a.querySelector('.price').textContent); let price_b = Number(b.querySelector('.price').textContent); return (price_a < price_b) ? -1 : 1; }); alldivs.forEach((item, i)=>{ // 3. update classes item.classList.remove('right-align'); if (i % 2 == 1) { item.classList.add('right-align'); } // 4. update DOM container.appendChild(item); });

edit: forgot that you can just use comma inside querySelector
    edit2: used u/EmmitSan advise

[Long, rambling rant] It feels strange that Path of Exile was "designed to be played forever" but there isn't a strict development structure based on housekeeping.

    Posted: 28 Nov 2020 07:28 PM PST

Not just talking about the bugs and weird balance, but also the way information and interface is given to players to lighten the 3rd party info/tools that pile up every league, needless extra steps of tedium, streamlining unengaging grinds (is it a good normal to play for 3 months and still not have all unveils, in a league that tosses a ton of extra veiled items at you?). All sorts of things really... the game GGG was adding every league to 4 years ago is not remotely the same as the one they do it to now, and neither are the leagues they add - stuff like tormented spirits, strongboxes, nemesis mods, rogue exiles? Absolutely tiny in comparison but natural feeling and could very well have been part of the core game from the start. Adding new grind systems, more things to collect, more in-game things that lay on top of each other and impact performance, new enemy designs - which often seem very good at off screen one shots, thanks - all of these need to be designed with the existing game feel in mind and consider their limitations.

I think the wildest part is, we are under an impression that GGG wants to fundamentally shift the pace of the game by the time PoE 4.0 comes out, but they keep adding things that seem to move further away from that? How do they intend to do so when they have a big hangup over "taking away" from players in terms of speed or content? Am I completely mistaken here? Or are they suddenly going to do way more work to redesign everything despite that not being their MO?

Personal vendetta: I would love to hear why something like divine shrine/cannot die aura is so important to the feel or balance of the game that we can just let it destroy computers/instances and that's ok? I feel like in many other games this kind of performance (and on to some extent a balance) problem would be a "code red" and it would be removed to be reworked, but we just have it for years on end? I hate to get too mean and personal but this just feels like arrogance, or clinging to vague ideas of artistic vision that aren't actually reflected in the game. No, it is not a good way to slow down the game, it doesn't exist 99.9999% of the time on top of the "slowing down" being destroying the servers.

I won't be dumping PoE any time soon but I have been playing less since legion, and I think that brings me to another point - adding all existing kinds of specialized loot to new releases may have a bit of merit in a temp league for getting people to focus on the new content, but it is also a bandaid for housekeeping, leaves things feeling a bit messy in terms of design, and moves us further away from what seems to be a goal of trimming down. Not to mention it can just feel weird getting all this old league content in one place when there was a strict delineation in farming before. Or at least it did for me at the time, I'm a bit over it but it's still not great.

With things like this in mind, and GGG being a bit more withdrawn (understandable in 2020) and the state of heist even as it's ending, it makes me worry for the future of such an ambitious and great game I've been following so long. We can only wait and see how the new league goes, but even if it's good, I sincerely hope the new dev schedule with extra time given for cleanup will also be used for older content as well as overall game structure. That's the big one. If you read the whole thing, thank you for humoring my vent/rant of months of thoughts.

Can you target specific Legion Jewels?

    Posted: 29 Nov 2020 01:27 PM PST

Hey everyone. I am trying to get my hands on a specific Legion Jewel (Militant Faith - Templar Jewel) in SSF and I was curious if there's a way to increase my odds of getting it. Does killing the corresponding general in the Domain of Timeless Conflict over and over again and not killing any of the other generals increase my odds or does it not matter? Last time I killed the Templar general about 15-20 times and the other generals only 2-3 times yet I still got an Eternal Empire Jewel. Since this was a sample size of 1, I am curious if it matters at all or not. Are there other ways to farm for the Jewel? Templar splinters are incredibly hard to come by and the first three emblems yielded nothing.

    Where to go from here?

    Posted: 29 Nov 2020 08:26 AM PST

Playing in Heist league, I've had my most successful character so far. Which is, admittedly, utter pants compared to actual successful characters. I can finally do Tier 16 maps. I full-cleared Apex of Sacrifice. Got to Sirus once, got him down to like 1% hp and got fried by one of his f-you beams at the last minute w/ no portals left, working on getting back to him now but don't really care because I got the Heist cat already so I don't need his Achievement.

I guess my question is... what should I be doing now? Grinding maps to fight the Conquerors again, Heists, and Delving all feel kinda... boring and same-y?

I really don't want to play through 10 Acts again just to level another build, especially when I don't know if this League is ending in like a week or whatever.

    What am I missing?

How do I get the last of my watchstones? (Pick inside)

    Posted: 29 Nov 2020 12:25 PM PST

    https://imgur.com/5bso185

Title. Can anyone explain how I get the conq's to spawn in these locations? I'm guessing I really messed up and am going to have to kill Sirus 4 more times to get the rest because 4/5 of the keystones I need are in one area.

Please be as detailed as possible in the explanation, this is my first season with the new atlas

There are the following I need and I can't get the conq's to spawn in the right places:

    Lex Ejoris: 1 Valdo's Rest: 4

    Unstacking Currency/et cetera

    Posted: 29 Nov 2020 12:21 PM PST

Could GGG make it possible to pick up an entire stack and then place single items at a time by holding shift and clicking? Would make fossil crafting infinitely more bearable, which will be especially handy with the upcoming Endless Delve.
