I've had enough of all the build elitism in here. I will play the game however I want to and I'll have fun while doing it. You can take your meta builds and shove them.

P.S.A to anyone theorycrafting with the new, reworked Elementalist, consider using Cold Conduction

    Posted: 09 Jan 2021 02:39 AM PST

With the Elementalist chill, shock and ignite broken up into 3 separate ascendancy nodes now, the Cold Conduction notable on medium ailment cluster jewels may save you 2 ascendancy points. It provides 15% shock to enemies chilled by your hits, and 10% chill to enemies shocked by your hits. The notables allow you to always chill or shock with all damage from my understanding, so with cold conduction you'd always chill AND shock with less investment. Just saying, that aegis node looks sweet.

Just a reminder/PSA to get the brain thinking!

[Discussion] Strength Stacking Inquisitor with the new Righteous Providence change

    Posted: 09 Jan 2021 12:09 AM PST

For reference, the new Righteous Providence gives 1% global crit chance for every point of the lower stat between Strength and Intelligence, and a flat +50 to both.

The easiest addition to a strength-stack build in this particular case would be an Astramentis, catalysted up to 120 + 19 implicit = 139 to all attributes, or a cool +139% crit chance off of one item. Coupled with +Int travel nodes and incidental boosts to Int on notables near the templar area, and you get a pretty ridiculous amount of crit chance without really having to go out of your way for it.

That being said, I'm curious as to what a good or even optimal strength-stack inquisitor would look like.

Something like Brutus' Lead Sprinkler + an attack like Tectonic Slam / Consecrated Path? Pillar of the Caged God to take advantage of the really strong staff nodes close to the templar starting area? Repentance (or the Iron Will support gem) + a spell like BV? Iron Fortress / Crown of Eyes / Repentance spicy attack build? There's quite a few ways to build this, and due to my inexperience with strength stacking builds, I'm at a loss how to proceed.

What do you think is a viable way to proceed with this crit-heavy strength-stacking niche, or is it even worth it?

    Let's theorize a Fire Elementalist !

    Posted: 08 Jan 2021 09:57 AM PST

Caveat, I know we don't know skill tweaks yet. Obviously that's going to drastically effect viability.

Let's just think of possiblities to leverage.

I've been wanting to make a fire/ignite character for leagues and never got around to it. So let's think of some cool setups or link me some guides you've liked that could be leveraged.

I saw a lot of fire ball/flame wall last league and thought it looked cool. Do we think fire ele could leverage that?

I've always wanted to like scorching ray, but I'm worried that standing still won't be great for x10 boss battles. The new aegis node might help with survivability at range as it stops ele damage.

Very curious on incinerate and firestorm too and how they change those. If fire storm's damage goes up enough and we can gaurantee ignite of each meteor, that could be awesome.

Any other fire skills that might be worth watching?

Also this new fire > chaos ring, any thoughts on how that could be leveraged?

Pyroclast vs. Glacial Cascade miner for league starting 3.13

    Posted: 09 Jan 2021 01:57 AM PST

In Endless Delve I first-timed a mine build with icicle mine and really REALLY liked the miner playstyle, so I want to play a miner in an actual league. Since icicle mines is mainly a delving build though, I'm trying to find another mine skill that's strong for mapping, and particularly strong for the new content.

GC mines are apparently generally strong and scale well, but looking at the other options Pyroclast sticks out to me. It's main weakness seems to be clearing, however both the new expansion and the new league take place in a confined arena, and Pyroclast's boss damage seems stronger than GC which is obviously something to consider with the new boss rushing. I've been trying to ask around but I can't find anyone with solid experience and/or miner knowledge to help me decide. Does GC outclass Pyroclast? and will it hold up in the boss rush fights?

    Glacial Cascade Elementalist?

    Posted: 08 Jan 2021 06:46 PM PST

I played Glacial Cascade miner last league and it was really fun but I'm thinking about doing it in self cast however I don't know how to begin to build it seeing as it's not a popular skill and the only builds on YouTube were 4 years ago that used the skill.

    Any theories?

    Bladeblast + Bladefall build questions

    Posted: 09 Jan 2021 01:30 AM PST

So i think i have heard somewhere that if you detonate Bladefall before it lands on the ground you can explode more than 40 blades at once, is that correct? Does it mean the optimal way to play the build is to spam blade blast until bladefall falls onto the ground and recast it and repeat? Just keep detonating when bladefall is in the air?

Another question i have is how does Inc Aoe compares to Intensify support? Is Intensify worth with its less Aoe per cast bit more aoe on the first one?

Last question, what are some of the ways people deal with mana apart from enduring mana flask? I played the build a little bit last league and one thing i noticed is that the mana can be a real bitch if you fight a boss without pretty much oneshotting it. During Sirus 8 with chieftain it was kinda stupid how the build lacked mana and i hope there are some people who would sacrefice a little bit of damage or defense on SC to get a smoother play style where you dont have to worry about it and they would like to share pob :D

Also, should the build scale aoe at all? Like from passives and whatnot. I know you want your blade blast to overlap so aoe is good for that, but at the same time you want your bladefall to cover as little area as possible and thats why you should use it with conc effect. So is taking global inc aoe effects good or bad in the end?

    Question about triggered guard skills

    Posted: 09 Jan 2021 01:28 AM PST

If I have Steelskin linked with CWDT, and I take a hit big enough to trigger my CWDT, will steelskin apply to that hit, or not?

For example, suppose I have 600 life, no mitigation. I have a level 2 CWDT linked with a level 11 steelskin, which when activated, would absorb 70% of damage from the next 568 damage I take.

Now, if I take a single hit for 601 damage, do I die?

    Elemental bossing skill

    Posted: 09 Jan 2021 01:02 AM PST

Hi all, Was wondering what elemental bossing skills do you have up your sleeve? At first I'm planning to start maybe as fireball flamewall igniter elementalist, the swap into cold or lightning skill for conversion shananagans with eternity shroud, all damage ignites node with obliteration wands for clear and golem support and new gloves to make ignites do chaos dmg. So I'm interested in cold and lightning skills that could work for big ignites. Could you help me out? The new orb skill looks interesting phys spell that converts to cold or lightning and then you can go to fire.

    Berserk + CWDT?

    Posted: 09 Jan 2021 04:02 AM PST

Im planning to play frost blades Glad (with rage support at main link). What do You think of using Berserk skill as a defensive layer (less damage taken) with cwdt? I was thinking about 3L: CWDT 14 lvl (1980 dmg to proc)- Berserk 16 lvl- Vaal Molten Shell 18 lvl (left mouse for vaal skill and also normal molten shell here for cwdt proc) . Berserk on 16 lvl instead of 20 lvl has only 1% less everything. What do You think about it?

    3.13 Puncture Bleed Deadeye

    Posted: 08 Jan 2021 06:23 AM PST

With the new Rupture Node i've tried to come up with a Puncture version of the Deadeye, the idea being that the extra defense layer of Gale Wind will be enough to survive on the meager lifepools of the ranger and have the new Rupture node to take care of boss damage by focusing on crit, combined with perfect agony.

But when meddling in Pob theres just too much Traveling - the Bleed Multiplier nodes are all in the Marauder-vicinity, while crit is a massive investment in the Ranger / Assassin area.

    https://pastebin.com/SQbg6D68

Overall i managed to build 4.7 million bleed dps (on avrage calculation), not factoring in the new Rupture Ascendancy node.

But perfect agony seems really sub-par, even with the heavy crit investment it only accounts for 10% of the dps. Even with adding "25% more damage with Bleeding" to a piece of gear to simulate a stack of rupture, this perfect agony adds 690.000 dps on average, up to 2.000.000 when using Crit-Only calculation.

So the build would still attack to fish for a maximized bleed, but have the added rng layer of crit to do so. I really don't know if that is worth the investment - setting up a multi-rupture bleed most certainly will crush bosses, but you really sacrifice a lot of defense for what essentially is win-more.

I know, it's kind of in a "wait for patchnotes" state so that we can plan with the correct passive tree, but at the moment this doesn't really look that promising because the node only provides a decent damage return for high investments and appears to be quite irrelevant during the early stages of the game.

I'd really appreciate some additional thought's on the Rupture Ascendancy note.

    CI Guardian Spiders + ?

    Posted: 08 Jan 2021 07:26 PM PST

I played this CI HoP Spider Guardian build last league and had a blast. Very tanky. But I was never really thrilled with the HoP aspect. Have to get close, hit multiple times, etc. Has anyone tried to tweak this to run HoA? Maybe with dominating blow or leap slam? Would it be better or worse? Or what about a CI Guardian Spider Spectre build? I've played Kay's spider/spectre build a bit and while maybe I didn't do it justice it seemed pretty squishy.

I've never gotten good at theory crafting... when I've tried to tweak the original build in path of building the crawler or spectres just had shit for DPS. Waste of time to try to tweak the build or continue to give it a shot?

    Fanatic Battlemage Inquisitor brainstorming

    Posted: 09 Jan 2021 01:15 AM PST

Think there will be a good way to mix Battlemage, Righteous Providence *and* Fanaticism?

The idea seems rather interesting; to stack str and int, get some Repentance/Eye of the crown combo, maybe even Garb of the ephemeral and mix it up with a solid Battle-mage 2H like Debeon's Dirge, Atziri's Disfavor, Brain Rattler or possibly Tidebreaker?

One potential problem is accuracy and making sure you attack each second while Fanaticism is down.

The tree could look something like this.

    Thoughts?

What Cold Damage Skill/Build would you recommend for 3.13?

    Posted: 08 Jan 2021 11:47 AM PST

I am currently trying to reflect on everything that happened yesterday #mindblown

One thing I realised, and also many others have already pointed out, is that we will be fighting a lot of bosses in 3.13. I am not good at boss fights, thats something I know about myself and don't mind admitting :-)

So my idea was now to play a Cold Damage Skill/Build that straight up freezes everything or at least slows everything down significantly enough for even my stupid ass to dodge the attacks.

    My first ideas are:
    - Ice Shot (possibly as the new and awesome looking Deadeye): Good for clear, bad for bossing and usually quite squishy. Or with 3.13 being a small arena could this be like death-by-a-1000-needles types of situation where you just keep Ice Shoting while everything slowly but surely dies?
    - CoC Ice Nova Frostbolt Assassin: I played this in Blight league and really liked it but remember it being a bit squishy. Has it gotten better defensive layers since?
    - Vortex/Cold Snap Occultist: Never played this build before. Could this be something?
    - Winter Orb: Is this actually still any good after all the nerfs?
    - The new Hydrosphere gem looks really nice and could be something. But I am usually careful league starting new skills, because I only play 2 builds max per league and don't want to mess up early
    - Any skill/build that works really well with cold conversion?

Again this idea is purely because I am not good at bossing and want to survive as long as possible :-)

What are your thought on this?

    Thanks for your input

My favorite build got nuked by the Inquisitor changes, can you recommend a similar build?

    Posted: 08 Jan 2021 07:10 AM PST

I was playing a Incinerate Inquisitor. Here are the characteristics of that build to see if you can recommend something like it:

    • Non zoom zoom. I play the game at a slow speed so I don't require anything super fast
    • Strong tank. It could face tank most things in game like the Sirus Die beam. I have slow reflexes and don't enjoy dying even on soft core so I would love a strong tank
    • Defenses were high armor, ailment immunity, max block and lots of recovery on block
    • Respectable dps. The build I played hit 3.5-4m shaper DPS before being min-maxed, it could kill everything well except super juiced delirium maps
    • Budget was 12-13ex to have a good end game build and min-max topped out around 50-60ex

I don't have a skill, character or style(melee/self cast/etc) preference. Thank you for any recommendations you might have.

edit: I am not specifically looking for a direct incinerate replacement. I am more looking for a strong tank that can do enough damage to kill everything but the juiced up delirium maps

    Aura bot + Cyclone

    Posted: 08 Jan 2021 11:56 PM PST

Me and my friend are planning on starting out on me being a scion aura bot and him playing cyclone yet I've heard cyclone isn't that good with an aura bot. Would it be better to have him convert to ele and drop impale? Is there anything we can do while keeping cyclone to make the duo better? Or is it not worth to do anything fancy with ele conversion and just have him go a standard build?

Spells now that deal converted physical damage due to Trinity Support?

    Posted: 08 Jan 2021 11:37 PM PST

I was thinking about spells like Hydosphere and Glacial Cascade today that deal 100% physical damage converted to cold and the new Trinity Support. Are these spells ripe for this interaction due to the ability to socket in Added Fire and Phys to Lightning? Or is the damage bonus of Trinity not going to be worth the lesser damage of the two former supports?

    Tawhoa's Chosen and EQ Interaction

    Posted: 08 Jan 2021 11:17 PM PST

Hey guys! I was contemplating going a slam-heavy Chieftain build, around some slow but massive attacks.

My main question is about what's in the title: I've never played with TC before (only recently came back to this game, it didn't even exist when I last played) but I was wondering if the cracks created by the player's cast and the Mirage Chieftain's count as "separate" - so basically, will my initial cast prevent the other one from happening?

That's my main question I'd say, but I'm also curious about another thing - will the Second Wind support gem affect the following things:

    • Tawhoa's Chosen, when SW is linked to the skill that triggered it (I highly doubt this but it would still be nice to know for sure)
    • Shockwave Support
    • Fist of War Support

If any of you have answers to these questions, I'd appreciate it a lot! :)

Need help on a super bad, but unique build, please help give some ideas!

    Posted: 08 Jan 2021 07:15 PM PST

So, my brain is turning to mush with all the both possibilities and lack of possiblities for a build im trying to make work, just because. I am building a "All (95%) Keystones" build, with some slight "cheating" using timeless jewel and i dont have enough SP for Ancestral Bond, so i wont take those.

Things that happen: No mana pool. ES is 0. No Leech or Regen is possible. No Shields work. You have Blood Magic and Avatar of Fire active at all times (either Avatar or CI, i chose Avatar). Also cant crit and you deal like 40% less damage.
Positives? You're a Scion, and you have some evasion and dodge and warcry and stuff. I also own 2 legacy -7 mana cost rings if i need to take CI.

Some ideas so far: Using Aberath's Hooves is probably a must. Death's Oath if I were to take CI. A hybrid flask with "not removed on full mana" to keep life topped up. As much MS as possible since im weak, so maybe using Phase Rush in my LMB. Herald of Ash OR Anger, maybe using herald. Which ascendencies too is a decision, scion trickster+raider would make for the most speedy boy and help me with life recovery if its any build with DoT Builds ideas so far: Using cyclone to reduce mana spending, maybe combined with CwC gem and some spell, BV? Dual Mjoner?(i have the attributes). Burning arrow Ignite, maybe Xoph's bow? Chieftan holy flame totems until i realized scion chieftan leech and regen dont do anything.

Also any tips on uniques, including up to 2 jewels, good skills to use with damage early but can be Fire, and literally cant be Chaos, unless i take CI and be extra glass cannon.

I could really use the help, after 3 years of playing i've made a few builds but wanted to make this meme build after i saw an old video of someone who took every keystone on the old passive tree.
