GGG, The current league is great, but everything about Heist's implementation into the base game feels like it was made specifically to spite the playerbase.

    Posted: 22 Jan 2021 03:48 AM PST

Heist's design philosophy has been a little iffy imo from it's very conception (After all the entire base concept of the league is now 'dead, it's not a thing anymore' as the developers put it.) but it's implementation into the main game feels almost purposefully constructed by the developers to infuriate anyone who interacts with it.

    • The rogue harbor is once again a mess of MTX and particle effects because it's been turned into a multiplayer town again, this coupled with the new texture streaming means you'll drop to 20 fps randomly even while starting up contracts or emptying out your inventory.

    • The leveling, Oh god the leveling. Most high level contracts require several levels of investment from the rogues, which means that you'll have to drop back down to doing ilvl 68 content to level them. And because you're working with level 1 rogues who probably have no gear, doors as a result take eons to open, with it being completely normal to spend up to a minute after every lock down just waiting for your rogue to open 3 consecutive doors.

    • NPC's still get stuck fighting crap, despite being given orders to unlock doors or disarm traps. I can't express just how infuriating this 'gameplay experience' is to have to run back 2 rooms and clear it each and every time you want your rogue to open a door.

This wouldn't be so bad, after all GGG prides themselves on allowing the playerbase to play the game however they'd like, and have implemented several of their other league mechanics into each other in order to give the playerbase a greater freedom to play the game how they'd like.

You don't need to do delves in order to get fossils, just like you don't need to do breaches or legions to get splinters. There are certain facets of those mechanics (usually boss fights) that require a level of interaction with the mechanic in order to get their drops, but no mechanic forces you to interact with it to gain it's generic rewards.

However heist is different, heist is special after all. All anomalous gems, alternate uniques, and trinkets/rogue gear have been HARD LOCKED behind heisting. You cannot get any of these from any other mechanic.

This really does seem like a developer, or maybe several at GGG saw the insane amount of backlash heist got, and worked specifically to force the playerbase to not only interact with their beloved heist mechanic, but to make their experience as miserable as possible every step of the way.

PSA: So apparently, the Valdo's Rest mirror/exalt shard farm has been stealth nerfed.

    Posted: 22 Jan 2021 05:06 AM PST

For the uninitiated, an absolutely insane currency farm popped up yesterday (or maybe it was around for even longer but I learned about it yesterday from Grimro's stream, the guy who has the Carrion Golem Necro guide), where if you had a Platinum Valdo's Rest watchstone with the extremely rare crafted prefix "Auspicious" (="Harbingers in Areas drop rarer value Currency Shards"), along with the two Harbinger nodes on the Valdo's Rest passive tree, you'd be making around 3-5 exalt shards per map, and roughly 2-3 mirror shards an hour, not even counting the massive amounts of chaos and ancient orb shards.

Today when I tuned into Grimro's stream (EU morning), I noticed he has a command up that basically states that GGG has stealth-nerfed the farm and it's no longer profitable. The watchstones are still in the 10ex range on the website, so anyone who has heard of it now or in the past few hours and is considering trying this farm out, then don't. It no longer works as well as it did yesterday (if it still works at all) and it's no longer worth the time investment.

I didn't see any threads about this pop up, nor YT videos, so I figured I'd post it here so that people are aware. Also, Grimro said that they asked Tarky to get a confirmation from GGG whether or not they actually stealth-nerfed it, but many people in Grimro's chat were saying no mirror/exalt shards are dropping anymore, so it seems like they did.

Game looked beautiful after diablo 3, and i was enjoying it but then i realized i cannot trade or craft or play because of the sockets. There is no way that i can tell the difference between green and red sockets. Thank you for the fun i had for these last few days.

Edit: Apparently I'm a whining bitch, because I ask for something which is in every freaking game.

    someone is angry

at the time of this post, divine orbs are worth about 7c in ritual sc. i saw this listing at 4c and i thought "it's probably price fixing, but i'll send a message anyway". this was the autoreply i got, it made me chuckle. i don't have any significant complaints about the trade system, but even if i did, it would still be funny to me because this behavior doesn't help at all.

You know why this League is popular? It's intuitive.

    Posted: 21 Jan 2021 08:02 PM PST

To understand Syndicate League, you need to understand how to connect people together, when to kill or upgrade, what upgrading even means or does, what killing even means or does, who belongs where, why they belong there, what to do once they're there, how to get them there, how to unlock the final thing that lets you utilize them while they're there, and what utilizing them even means. Then, to top it all off, you need a fundamental understanding of what makes a rare good in the first place to know what to unveil. This alone is problematic.

You know what you need to understand for Ritual? Big circle thingy, kill things in the circle, killing makes the circle thingy stronger, give you more points, spend points on cool things. If you don't have enough, save thing you like for later. Do more things.

Having to breakout the whiteboard and alt-tab out to guides for three hours is fun for approximately 20 people per league. The mechanics can be enjoyable, it can look cool and feel fun, but being completely unable to do the content due to not having 5 hours a day to research is absurd.

This League is simple, easy to understand, and cool. That's really about it. You can have simplicity and enjoyment, and the numbers and reception are showing that.
