How to scale any attack build to end game on a budget - Indigon + Battlemage Cry

    Posted: 26 Aug 2021 01:53 PM PDT

    EDIT: T16 Corrupted Tower: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6diG3FrQe4

    Minotaur with Maven: https://youtu.be/_rL6LOWVteY

I recently made a build utalizing Indigon and Battlemage Cry, scaling warcry buff effect and flat added damage. It has worked out extremely well. Using Smite - its actually a very under used skill. Great clear and has double damage synergy with Hydrosphere for bosses.

I have over 12m dps or so on a 15-20ex budget - zoom clear, 1 shot bosses, fairly tanky.

    PoB: https://pastebin.com/uqh94NSi

I can explain the build in more details if people are interested. The DPS in PoB with Ruthless instead of Ancestral Call for single target is 5.5m. This doesnt include the 50% more damage from the first 5 attacks after using BMCry from Berserker node. This is also with only 50 rage, 2 stages of Sigil of power and 3200 mana spent. Realistically we can hit much higher numbers.

With Hydrosphere attached to BMcry we effectively double our DPS vs bosses since Smite his the boss + the orb, then the orb splash hits the boss.

We can keep Berserk up about 70% of the time thanks to the instant 70 rage from Redblade Banner.

+7k HP with MoM, +3k HP from Arcane Cloak, fortify, endurance charges, 40% block, 15k armour, blind, great regen thanks to indigon.

Only downside I would say is sometimes your damage dips while waiting for Arcane Cloak cool down since it is the main way to kickstart the Indigon ramping - But this is usually only for a couple seconds.

EDIT 2: Since this thread got pretty popular I will record a full guide tomorrow breaking down everything in the build with more showcases vs Conquerers and mapping.

Brittle CoC Indigon Ball lightning Hierophant

    Posted: 27 Aug 2021 02:02 AM PDT

    Hello,

this build has been inspired by the admiral thor build showcased here aprox. 2 weks ago. However i am nto a fan of Mjolnir so i tried to make something simillar as CoC. Getting the needed crit chance seemed quite hard without having 5 medium crit clusters. With 3.15 reworked ailments you can reasonably easily get crit capped by getting Brittle on target as it functions like % base crit. Getting to the actual threshold numbers is rather difficult and i only calculated it for Shock, for which the threshold for Sirus was aprox 2M. That is incredible as according to wiki it used be around 25M. There are some problems with chosen skill as ball lightning isnt hitting that hard, but the skill is just superior over all other.

    Pros:

Great damage for clear and bosses

    Decent clear speed

    Great recovery

    Interactive build

    Cons:

CoC without 100% crit chance at all times

    Expensive to get going

    Balancing stats

    Interactive build

    PoB: https://pastebin.com/Nuz8qvP4

    Gameplay Videos

    Minotaur double guardian: https://youtu.be/c2vbEdYugLE

    Maven: https://youtu.be/MUdLLjN9z0Y

Feared: https://youtu.be/vWx82SkUb-4 (i was impatient and got killed by it)

    Playstyle:

The basic playstyle is cycloning around, popping Arcane cloak which eats lot of mana (this gives flat lightning damage and lot of spell damage increase thx to Indigon), using mana flask to get mana regen. After few seconds you start to run out of mana due to high mana cost, now is the time for Laviagna's spirit. This flask helps you use spells freely with the stacked bonus. Rince and repeat with occasional Sigil of power and flame dash while spamming vortex.

Heavy use of mana flask is not ideal for people who just like cycloning around. It requires watching your mana and reacting to it accordingly.

    Itemisation:

    • Mana bald guy without pants 100% increase AoE for ball lightning is great source of damage, for cyclone great utility. Reduced effect of ailemts makes freezes no problem as you are basically not freezed. Mana as extra ES 50% less mana cost Without that it would be impossible without much higher mana invest

    • Leadership's Price This Heist amulet gives all the alternative ailments confluxes while you have balanced your two highest attributes. This is the most tricky part of the build as it requires a conservative pathing on the tree as well as specific amounts of stats on gear. For that you are rewarded with nice defence (sap), and great offense (- resist form Scorched, and crit form Brittle). It drops from unique heist contract, can be expensive if looking for perfect one, otherwise dirty cheap.

    • Indigon Classic mana stacking damage giving unique. Also gives nice regen to life from mana flask. Ideally arcane cloak enchant for more mana spend.

    • Stampede Great for movement. Could be exchanged for rare cooldown reduction and increase effect of non-damaging ailments for higher cdr thresholds (would need cdr on belt, 12% there would be enough with 6 ACoC and 15% on boots Unless you want to roleplay slime movement use stampede.

    • Algor mortis Gives target increased damage taken while standing in our vortex (which still chills even though we cant chill). Use whatever corrupt you like Abhorrent Interrogation gives slightly more damage but doesnt have resistance or the increase effect of non-damaging ailments.

    • Body armour Admiral is hard to beat in terms of damage. For more eHP an ES armour with MoM effect and life as extra ES could be used.

    • Weapons Ideally karui scepter, which enables fortify on hit from cluster jewel. Craftting hits cannot be evaded is reqired. For shield use whatever you like +1 to lightning skills and mana is standard pick.

    • Watcher's eye Without this, ES recovery sucks. 10 % leech is very low and recharge is unreliable. Having ES on hit for ball lightning is great and it gives insane recovery. Ideally you want also the clarity mode mana as extra ES, however this pair is quite expensive (paid 30 ex for min)

    • Glorious Vanity Th build is hybrid, this is almost required. Splitting damage in half to life and ES is benficial as you can use recovery from more sources. Also changing +10 stat nodes is wonderful and helps a lot to lower your intelligence.

    • Rings An essence worm for discipline to enable ES on hit watcher's eye. And a rare ering with life gained on spell hit alongside with regular mana/life/resistance

    • Flasks Laviagna's spirit is required as prolonged casting is unsustainable Rumi's gives nice block Diamond gives crit which is useful until you get max brittle effect on target. Ideally i would want chance to avoid being stunned crafted on the flask Caustic mana flask, preferably eternal. Caustic gives more recovery and the lost life is immidiately recovered by indigon. Regular divine life flask for risky moments and bleed

    • Jewels Life and or mana increase. Crit multi as i have almost none on the tree. Attack speed to get you close to cap. Chance to blind on abyss jewel, increase effect of cold ailments for brittle effect. For chaos resistance small chaos clusters are needed, because of many uniques in this build One crit chance cluster and flask cluster for mana flasks

    • Gems Awakened cast on crit on level 3 or more is require without any other cdr, or have lower attack speed Divergent ball lightning, higher occasianl hits mean more brittle effect. Cwdt setups eats mana really hard. Be aware of that. Keep on lvl 1 if possible.

    • Pantheon Brine king for stun problems Minor pantheon is optional. Aberrath with 3 jewel enchants gives 100% reduced ailemt duration

Budget: I've spent around 85 ex on it

It would cost probably 30 ex to start functioning. (most of that price is es on hit watcher's eye)

TLDR: Spin to cast CoC(k) mana balls

Lucked My Way into Over 100Ex, need build advice

    Posted: 26 Aug 2021 07:46 AM PDT

    Hi All,

I posted this in the main POE reddit but somebody said I should post here too. I am a novice Reddit user so if there's a way to just link my original post to this, apologies.

    -----------------------------------------------------

    I am at best a mid-tier casual

Long story short, I've started actually doing heist blueprints and lucked out and found a Replica Shako and sold it for 100x and a +1 all spells wand fracture I sold for 19x. The most ex I've ever had previously in a league is like 10-15.

So what I'm looking for is advice. . I usually follow build guides because every build I try to build is usually a colossal failure. I can progress through T16 maps. I've killed A9, shaper, elder, atziri. None of the ubers though. I've never done Maven. I typically have 5-6 hours a few days a week to play.

Right now I'm playing SST Bleed Glad and a Mjolnir Manabond MOM Hiero. Should I pump more currency into these builds? Or is there a savvy build out there than can really rock with the currency I have lucked my way into. I would like to do Maven and the Ubers. Here is my profile so you can see my chars. https://www.pathofexile.com/account/view-profile/IMJason

Feel free to flame if you want, but I would appreciate some real advice too.

Any way to make HoT not so reliant on Impulsa?

    Posted: 26 Aug 2021 11:19 PM PDT

I've been hitting somewhat of a wall in terms of survivability for my autobomber.

For now my 'layers' of defense boil down to "dOnT geT HiT" and a good amount of leech. Scaled es leech and a good es pool since that seems to be the go to way of sustaining a decent ehp.

Now the only problem remaining is the lack of damage mitigation in general. It feels like while the Impulsa storms gift combo is great at clearing packs, it's holding me back for endgame bosses, where I'm just praying I don't get one shot while I run around and try to leech off all the damage.

So far I've tried to move to different ways of getting explode into the build, with my most recent foray into Sporeguard having mixed results. The 1 second cool down on contaminate spoils the experience and makes popping huge packs a hassle.

The next step up would be crafting an explode chest. However I'm hesitant to dump the currency into something that I'm not sure will even clear that well for HoT.

Would appreciate some insight into explode chest vs Impulsa clear wise for HoT. Or tips on how to get better pops with Sporeguard.

Can y'all help me take my witch to the next level? Currently 81 and getting into red maps.

    Posted: 26 Aug 2021 08:18 PM PDT

Using DO for my clearing and CA for my bossing. I can pretty much run right through high yellow maps (not getting any red drops yet) without any issues or flask use but not sure how to scale this to keep going. Having a ton of fun with this build and really wanna push it.

I have about 15 ex in reserve!

also any tips on what to look for to farm more currency? This is my farthest along build ever so not sure how to proceed!

Unveiled an epic Kulemak, help me make Shock Nova great?

    Posted: 26 Aug 2021 03:59 PM PDT

I don't know if GGG reads this thread, but I feel like a player with 7000 hours and a level +32 Shock Nova should be able to get a bit more damage than this has. Could anyone who's good at theory crafting please lend me your iqs? ^_^ Doesn't HAVE to be shock nova, but every league I try and make something great, and every league I fail. Seriously love the skill though! Halp!

    Basic idea:

Kulemacs with 22% double damage, 110 crit multi and +3 supported gems.

    Defensive layers

Secrets of Suffering for Sap, scaled by Temp chains on hit from Asenath's Gentle Touch, + Starlight chalice.

Some amount of blind from Asenath's

Elusive nodes, Assassin effect & Badge of Brotherhood for nice dodge. + vaal grace = dodge cap

Some block from staffs and Rumis

Lightning warp: Warp in, unleash Shock Nova, warp out.

Enduring cry + Second Wind + CWDT IC (only 3 endurance charges though)

    Other notes:

I have more crit chance than I know what to do with. I had planned to convert lightning -> cold for brittle with call of the brotherhood, but it's not needed. Either I could drop crit from the tree somehow, or drop for another ring. Probably nice to do so as getting enough.

A few other thoughts are in the notes section of the POB. Overall I feel like it's the start of something and could be a fun generic tree for casters, but like all of my attempts to make shock nova great, it's squishy and it does no damage :-p

Thanks heaps for your help, stay sane out there <3

    Triggering Herald of Purity

    Posted: 27 Aug 2021 01:43 AM PDT

    Hey R,

I'm running a Herald of Purity build which pops off once i summon the sentinels. However, I need to kill enemies in order to summon these sentinels. My build lacks other forms of damage as HoP is my main link. I'm currently using a cyclone-maim-culling strike link to try to pop my HoP.

Any ideas on how to more easily pop HoP?

    Thanks!

Any builds that are something a bit different?

    Posted: 27 Aug 2021 12:43 AM PDT

    Hey everyone,

I've been playing SSF so far this league and ended up clearing pretty much everything on a Bleed SST Glad. (Its pretty crazy how solid it is but it kind of killed the experience for me as I enjoy the progression of needing stronger builds over time or ones that have specific purposes, but it kind of just did everything with very little effort - lesson learned about going too meta for me!)

So I fancy just having a bit more of a chilled and fun time in trade for a while and was wondering if anyone has played some fun and interesting builds recently? I'm not too fussed about investment level as I can migrate a fair amount and I'm pretty comfortable in grinding currency if I need to.

I haven't played flicker in a while so I was thinking about that. Or maybe a attr stacking char of some sort. Just wondering if anyone had tried any cool interactions that were maybe a bit different or fun to work around / make work?

    Thanks!

What active skill to use as a summoner witch?

    Posted: 27 Aug 2021 12:35 AM PDT

Hey! The main question is in the title, as I've started pondering on optimization a little here.

I'm a semi-casual player, playing my first playthrough as a witch summoner, figuring out game mechanics before deep-diving into builds and optimization that people post all over the internet. I've just hit act 6, and started noticing some problems.

I've gone pretty much "search: minion" in my skill tree, and pumped a lot of those passive skills up, without traveling too far from the witch-area. I'm boasting 7 zombies, 2 spectres, 2 golems (carrion and chaos, because they seemed cool), and got a vaal Summon Skeletons gem for 8 skeletons normally, and a shite-ton for boss-fights. I never lose a single minion (unless I use Summon Reaper, which I'm not sure how good it really is), so their defensive stats are good enough (unlike mine, but that's for another time).

During fights, I use Arc. I've found it's quite neat, and I've stacked some crit chance to enhance it (minimum power charges +1, some other passives that boost crit chance, gear etc), so it performs quite well. I recently got Soulrend as a drop, and looking into it, it seems to be a better choice. Slapping some DoT-supports and multiple projectiles would be a lot better clear, hm? Would need to refund maybe 10 passive points to get out of the crit-chance -hole I've dug myself into.

But is Arc good enough? Should I swap to Soulrend? Should I use something else entirely?

As a bonus question, what's everyone's thoughts on Reapers? Yay or nay?

A different way to play FR

    Posted: 27 Aug 2021 12:14 AM PDT

I've seen people getting far with forbidden rite and clearing the game with it... as totems or CI coc... and those are both great for other people, but not me. I'm not into playing totems, nor am I into fully abandoning life flasks. So for these reasons, I've been looking into other ways to play FR, and think I've found the way for me; petrified blood + ivory tower.

The ivory tower causes the self-damage caused by FR to go to mana... and PB makes it so that if/when mana runs out, that much of the self damage is dealt as a managable dot. FR gains substantial added damage from your life and energy shield, and in this case, scaling mana protects life... so crown of the inward eye becomes an excellent source of both damage and defense.

With FR attacking mana instead of life (mostly), it becomes very important to have a large open mana pool and substantial mana recovery. It's been well established on archmage and agnostic builds, that recovering absurd ammounts of mana is achievable, so some of those techniques could be considered for this kind of build

I think I've come close to what's required to make this work, and this pob is intentionally setup with imperfect (realistic) gear, but before I get on about building this, I'm interested in seeing feedback or other ideas. Thanks for your time, exiles.

Is there a way for a cold build to use HOI and EE effectively?

    Posted: 26 Aug 2021 11:21 PM PDT

I'm playing around with some build... um, building, and keep coming across the same problem. EE is being ruined by my primary damage type being added to spells/attacks, or in the case of HOI, both.

For my Hydrosphere/Ice Storm build, I can't work out any way to do non-cold element damage to an enemy, that is not tainted by cold damage from Herald of Ice.

Is there a way around it or do I need to sacrifice HOI or EE?

I have the same problem with my Discharge/Ignite build, my scepter is adding fire damage to spells, which is tainting my Storm Brand and ruining EE. I know how to fix that, I just really don't wanna ruin that scepter!

Need a ~60ex build to farm high level logbooks and push challenges

    Posted: 26 Aug 2021 06:50 PM PDT

I've been running a Eye of Winter Spellslinger occultist so far and it's gotten me through the atlas just fine. However, when I try 80+ logbooks, the bosses usually kill me pretty easily and it's annoying avoiding so many logbook mods (immune to cold, curse, cannot crit mobs, mobs kill lowlife). I'm open to any sort of build, provided it has good defenses and decent clear speed. If it could be enough to get 36/40 challenges and kill endgame bosses like maven, that would be a plus!

good non button intensive build for someone with wrist problems?

    Posted: 26 Aug 2021 07:23 AM PDT

    hi,

what is a fun non button intensive build for someone with wrist problems?

i checked minion builds but there are so many and i dont know which one requires many buttons and which doesnt)

i saw the 1 button stress free build but the video showcasing it seems pretty unfun(seems kind of slow and weak)

same goes for righteous fire right?

i think minion builds can be interesting but i dont wanna fall on a build that requires 5 buttons.

my last build was toxic rain raider which was ok'ish but it seems like i needed to cast toxic rain alot and also it required kind of a stutter step playstyle which is abit stressful for the wrist

its was overall fine but i wish to find something even more comfortable

thnak you very much for any help

*also is there any kind of a solution or even improvement to picking up items requires million clicks? or even making it so i can pick items pressing different button than left click

even if its something 3rd party aslong as it doesnt create any sort of trouble for other players

    1. Is poison blade trap a good idea?
    2. If it's okay, which version? Pneumatic dagger + Bino or Bino + Mark of the Doubting Knight
    3. If not, what other blade trap builds are there? Something with good prolif would be nice (am addicted to breaking legion out)

Rage Vortex Poison build - Theorycraft

    Posted: 26 Aug 2021 09:58 PM PDT

So I put the following build and items together : https://pastebin.com/cKTeqLr1

The theory- Rage Vortex gets tons of attacks. lots of attacks + attack speed from Rage + some nice ranged elements potentially a ranged replacement for Blade Vortex in poison builds?

Am testing this out as Pathfinder, but honestly this may be better as a Scion. Am using the Rotblood Promise + Chains of Emancipation combo to instantly generate full rage and maintain that rage since Rage Vortex really eats into your rage bar.

I've noticed trying to attack too fast will eat into your rage, and am not sure if trying to stack storms on top of each other is that beneficial. You end up having to toggle ALOT since for whatever reason I can't seem to generate Rage from Rage support fast enough.

Using Ancestor Totems for more attack speed and wither target and got a plague bearer backing up the whole lot. I've opted into Aspect of Spider and can run the full Spider, Malevolence , HoAG, Temporal Chains aura's, but this build would HIGHLY benefit from a +1 curse chest so you can annoint pretty much anything else and Use despair.

The degen is kinda nasty but health wise a solid 5k with dodge may be "enough".

Would appreciate any feedback on the tree or the 6 link as I feel am not using the optimal set up. Also I think am stretching to hard to get spider aspect and may be better to just use rare gloves, and find some other relevant unique. Despair Impresence comes to mind.

Total Dot DPS is 160k with a potential of 10 at a time (1.6mil~ Sirus?) before plaguebearer, but am not sure if PoB is calculating the attack speed from Vortex appropriately.

Looking to improve my stormbind build

    Posted: 26 Aug 2021 09:39 PM PDT

Hi, I've created this janky little stormbind build that's a hybrid of an ascendant stormbind build I played once and Mathil's cold conversion one. Looked decent on paper and I had some success taking it up to end game. It's done all the guardians, A8 conqueror's and some other end game bosses ok. Problem is now I'm having trouble making it feel not terrible against content such as uber elder, maven invitations, sirus, heists. Damage on paper looks ok and defences aren't non existent, however it's just feels terrible right now and gets obliterated often.

Looking to get some improvements, half feel like giving up on it.

Is that a bug that needs fixing? Or just the way the skill should behave?
