Forbidden Rite Totems - Tanky Edition

    Posted: 17 Aug 2021 04:54 PM PDT

    Hey there,

I usually like to play rather tanky builds, layering defenses while also doing decent dps. At some point, getting more dps does not really matter that much as bosses can usually be done without taking any damage if playing correctly. I absolutely hate dying in this game, especially while mapping. I don't mind dying to Sirus' beam when I flame dash right into it once in a while, but I usually build my characters in a way that (mostly) prevents "random" oneshots. I leaguestarted as a phys trapper and while it had pretty nice DPS, it was a dead man walking, dying once or twice per 5-10 maps.

I wanted to try Forbidden Rite as it seemed pretty easy do reach decent dps numbers without going full glasscannon. Read a lot of complaints of survivability on reddit, so I started levelling with a more defensive approach.

In my build, I stack a lot more mana compared to most FR builds I've seen, get close to block/spell block cap (Rumi's, Glancing Blows, Tempest Shield) and use a mana recovery on block shield to recover the mana I lost due to MoM/Agnostic.

Stacking mana/block and spell block gets the most out of several notables in my tree (Mana Regeneration per chance to block spells from Mystic Bulwark, Spell Damage from Prodigal Perfection, 80% increased damage from Dark Ideation) while also being close to all the spell crit/damage stuff, not a lot of travelling through the tree.

I have a 97% chance to crit (with my diamond up) with currently 558% multi (including assassins mark), dealing up to 13 millions of dps with Righteous Fire up (I only use RF for bosses).

    How the defenses work:

Nearby enemies are blinded, reducing incoming damage by a lot due to not being hit very often. Take less damage from non-nearby enemies. Have fortify up more or less permanently. If I get hit, I block most of the hits, taking 65% of their damage while restoring 5% of my maximum mana, filling that mana globe back up after it tanked due to MoM/Agnostic filling my HP back up. Enduring mana flask restores some mana, it's up pretty much permanently. I regenerate rougly 50% of my unreserved mana pool per second on top. I also have some phys mitigation from 4 endurance charges and some more from a chaos golem which I sometimes slot in for nasty maps. Also, the build has 6500 EHP due to MoM/Divine Guidance.

I went deathless up to level 92 where I had my first death to a DIE-Beam by my man sirus. Dashed right into it. The build has not once died while mapping - and I ran some -max maps with damage mods. I have done every invitation except The Feared and I have killed the Maven deathless.

I recorded a video of a Drox kill yesterday, where I had rougly half the dps that I have now.

Path of Exile 3.15 - 83% Drox - Forbidden Rite done... rite? Tanky Edition - YouTube

Here's my current PoB, in my opinion fairly non-bullshit config except maybe the diamon flask being up. I'm also missing some gem levels and quality on some. I guess one could easily reach 20m dps with better gear and gems.

    https://pastebin.com/f8CAmvwQ

TL;DR: If you dislike the squishyness of your FR build, you might want to consider this version. It's not a zoomer (due to being a totem build mostly) and it does not kill multiple mavens per second, but it gets the job done and doesn't fall on its nose every other map. I'm also not an expert builder and there might be better versions of this but I consider my tree fairly efficient. Hope it helps some of you :)

Deadeye Bow CoC Ice Spear - Eye of Winter. Insane clear, GREAT boss damage!

    Posted: 18 Aug 2021 05:01 AM PDT

    Hi Everyone,

Making a quick follow-up to the Bow CoC build I've been playing for almost a week now. I've invested a bit of currency in this build and it keeps getting better and better, to a point that I don't want to play other builds. It has achieved 100% ailment immunity, huge leech, resolved the mana issues, crafted some great gear and the build STILL has room for improvement.

It's absolutely mental how this can scale.

Straight up, this is not budget or beginner friendly unfortunately since you need some knowledge on how CoC works.

CoC Ice Nova 60ex Budget - 4.3m Shaper DPS Gear Breakdown

    Posted: 17 Aug 2021 11:01 PM PDT

    Hello Everyone,

After my last post yesterday people said to showcase the build on a 50ex budget. I went a little over budget but I am happy with the results. The build ends up with 4.3m Shaper DPS, which can be pushed farther with better gear.

I am not an build creator, I mainly read other peoples guides and try to understand how they make builds work, so forgive me if my tree/build is unoptimized.

Here is the pastebin for the build: https://pastebin.com/WKCkGDYc updated the pastebin to correctly allocate pressure points

    EDIT: Updated POB: https://pastebin.com/1XjeviPn

This POB has 1k more ES, Flesh and stone, and pressure points correctly allocated. It also has 1m Less damage as a result, but should result in less deaths overall

Here is a youtube video of me farming Tirn's end Deli Mirror with this build A9 https://youtu.be/61ntnC5KRdY

I craft most of my own gear, so if you need any tips on crafting feel free to hit me up.

Onto the Gear Breakdown and Costs

Gloves - 2ex You are looking for gloves with increased damage to chilled enemies. This is a temple mod so the gloves pretty much drop as they are. You can change the the temple mod by using the harvest ele res change craft. Ideally you are looking for Increased damage to chilled enemies, accuracy rating to cap our chance to hit, and a high dex roll to wear cospris. Prefixes dont matter as much try to get some ES, and craft ES if neccessary. You can go for a pair of gloves with different suffixes and some of the suffixes and find them on fix what you're missing on your rings. Most important mod is increased damage to chilled enemies. You can also skip this all together and just buy a standard pair of rare gloves, you just lose 50percent increased damage.

Circle of Fear - 1ex You are looking for increased cold damage while effected by herald of ice and Herald of ice has increased buff effect rings Look for good implicits and buy it, good implicts will cost you a lot of money though

Cospri's malice - 1ex Look for 14 percent increased attack if you have 52 percent CDR, you can get corrupted cospris for a fraction of the cost

Crown of the Inward eye - 1ex Look for the corruption +1 to max power charges. This corruption alone gives us a massive dps boost. Do not buy one without the corruption

Prism Guardian Archon Kite shield - 1ex Corrupted ones can be bought for a lot cheaper

Presence of Chayula - 1ex Use tempering catalysts to max out the defence allocate Heartseeker for damage (there may be a better allocation not sure)

Ring with good rolls and non-channeling skills craft - 1ex Buy a rare ring that caps whatever you are lacking. I chose to get one with str, chaos res, and fire res. Make sure to craft non-channeling skills have -7 to mana cost as this lets you play the build without a mana flask

6-link Shavs 5ex You can get them for 4ex, I bought one with 6 white sockets cause rolling the sockets for our colors can be annoying

Awakened CoC level 5 - 5ex You can buy the level 1 for 3ex and level it yourself, however you won't be able to cap CDR until you get at least 17% cdr from your awakened CoC

Anomalous Inspiration - 1ex not necessary but gives us a little bit extra crit chance

    Awakened Added Cold level 5 - 4.5ex

you can buy a level 1 gem for 2-3ex, however you will not get +1 to level of cold skill gems until level 5

Crystal Belt with CDR and good ES -3ex Look for a cdr roll of 16-20 percent and as much ES as possible and good suffixes. Can find for cheaper, and are not hard to self craft

Boots with CDR + cannot be chilled cannot be frozen - 5ex You dont need the cannot be chilled/cannot be frozen mods however it is a massive qol boost. you can get cdr boots with ms for about 40c. To craft cannot be chilled you do suffixes cannot be changed and throw a veiled chaos orb at it. Unveil it for MS and craft cannot be frozen. 1 ex for cannot be frozen, 2 ex for suffixes cannot be changed. You can miss and might have to roll again to hit cannot be chilled, however cannot be chilled isn't as important as cannot be frozen. If you want to save 4ex get a flask with freeze/chill immunity, be warned you will 100 percent get frozen unless you choose to do activate on being frozen which basically gives you 1 less flask slot.

Unnatural Instinct - 5.5ex I have the reduced rmr, theres no reason to get the reduced rmr. I only kept it cause I hit it on the div card and was too lazy to buy a cheaper one. Only use this if you have 52 percent CDR as this gives you a lot of attack speed

Corrupted Blood Frozen trail - 1ex Pretty standard just buy one with the corrupted blood cannot be inflicted on you implict

Large Cluster jewel - 3ex Blanketed snow is a massive dps increase and prismatic heart gives a lot of resists and ele damage with are both good. Make sure its 8 passives

Crit med cluster jewel - 1ex Look for magnifier and pressure points

curse med cluster jewel - 20c Look for whispers of death and wish for death. Wish for death is great for bossing

Watchers eye - 10ex Get the hatred crit watchers eye, HUGE DPS Boost. This is what will let you do High tier content effortlessly

Replica conq eff - 20c Needed to sustain our mana costs

Militant faith with dominus - 40c Look for good rolls. Ideal would be area damage and ele res. Keep in mind you can buy different miltant faiths and divine them till its dominus

Transcendent flesh - 3ex Great crit multi, could be replaced with a good jewel

Dbl crit multi + ES jewel - 4ex you can buy single crit multi + es for 20c if you dont want to spend

Crit Multi + ES + ES on hit -40c I got the ES on hit cause we aren't using the discipline es on hit watchers eye anymore. I am not sure how effective it actually is, still doing some testing.

Large thread of hope with -12 all res - 1ex Could get ones with lower all res for cheaper, but that means you'll have to make up the res in your gear elsewhere.

Total Cost 60ex and some change

Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you!

Got some 793% Facebreakers in SSF, anything worth doing with them on self found gear?

    SRS advice

    Posted: 18 Aug 2021 01:04 AM PDT

    HI
I am after planning and building a SRS build on the Standard league. I have been playing for a while and have roughly 10 ex saved up.

Around 6 months ago I got onto red maps with a SRS build and I loved it, but after a frustrating session involving Stella Artois and my Necro dying a lot I deleted it. Stupid.

I havent enjoyed a build since then as much as the SRS and so I am planning on building a new one.
The issue is there is two types, ones that go POP and those that dont.

There is conflicting advice on youtube so I am asking this community for any and all advice on planning, building and playing a decent SRS build on a very modest budget.

I am also criminally inept at crafting and getting the sockets I want, not sure if thats relevant but thats how the cookie crumble's.

    Forbidden Rite life sustain

    Posted: 18 Aug 2021 02:59 AM PDT

Hey. I'm trying to reach 90% chaos resist and use CwC Forbidden Rite.

What are good means of sustaining life when paired with it? So far I linked Life Leech support to FR to sustain it. Life Gain on Hit or life regen could be nice as well.

What are other ways to sustain the self damage? I don't want to use CI to cheese it tho.

Is there an SSF league starter you'd recommend for a fresh start?

    Posted: 18 Aug 2021 04:59 AM PDT

I got a bit fed up the lack of performance of my SST gladiator that I spent a good bit of time on (had 5.6k hp, soul tether, 2.6k armour shield, level 94, etc)...I basically just deleted the character and migrated all. It felt like a shell of what it was when EQ glad was peaking in 3.13

I played Spectral Helix before the great migration and it felt good but damage fell off on a 6L with +% to critical strike with attacks chest with the elemental penetration I farmed up...t14+ conqs were doable but felt a bit zdps. Mapping felt good though.

    1) SST Glad

    2) FR Totems

    3) Ice trap or Exsanguinate supported by Seismic trap (for bossing) Sab

    4) Shield Crush glad

    5) EoW Occultist

Is there a build on here that has a solid start and scales well with frequent self-found/crafted upgrades and has the ability to scale well with an enormous amount of currency? I think the biggest problem I had with SST gladiator is that the damage just caps out at like 1m basically. Bonus if I can get to play melee elemental hit as that is my dream build.

Since I migrated I don't plan on rerolling, I'd rather just invest all my currency into one character I think.

Build for the "complicated" league challenges.

    Posted: 18 Aug 2021 04:56 AM PDT

Looking for a build anyone has had success with completing the expedition boss challenges and some of the map boss encounters. League started fr totems and the build is great for brute forcing down content, but i seem to have trouble with some of the conditional challenges such as leaving certain mobs alive and defeating a boss at a certain time. Sometimes the squishy nature also gets me in trouble while trying to fulfill the conditons.

I'd also be down with any tips or tricks anyone has for making these challenges easier with totems as well, but it seems it might just be easier to build something specializing in "single target" damage and a little survivability. Thanks for any advice / direction.

SST Raider on a Budget needs help

    Posted: 18 Aug 2021 04:52 AM PDT

    Hello people

    https://pastebin.com/q6xPih89

This is my SST Raider I built yesterday evening.

I just wanted to get a build going that could zoom through maps since I already have a boss killer and after looking for a bit and at first not really wanting to play SST I decided to go for it anyways.

I am not disappointed. Now, my question for some SST expert on here would be:

What can I improve? Now, obviously I should go for:

    -A conversion Watcher's Eye

    - +1 Frenzy, Culling and Conversion Gauche Gloves

    - Gain Phys as Extra Cold Amulet

    - Better Stat Stick of a main hand

    - Phantasmal SST etc.

But what I mean is more..obvious and easy changes. Usually when I decided to put on some gear/skill on a leveled but naked character I make it work but overlook simple and easy things that have a lot of impact (like forgetting an anoint or not going for an obvious item that would be a DPS increase because I underestimate it etc.).

I usually am not in this kind of position but my budget is only around 10ex at the moment and I do want to go for those big boy upgrades eventually, since I've just now started to enjoy the league enough to farm up some currency.

I hope you understand what I am asking. Obvious things right now would be:

    -Levels

    -Cluster Jewels

    -A Stormbrand setup with PCoC

But maybe I overlooked some..Jewel or some notable or maybe everything is fine the way it is and the upgrades I'm gonna have to go for are the ones listed, I just don't know enough about SST atm.

I hope this makes sense.. and thanks in advance for any help! It is much appreciated :)

Need help with Raise Spectre necro damage

    Posted: 18 Aug 2021 04:47 AM PDT

    Hello,

I'm having some trouble with my Spectre necro DPS-wise and I would greatly appreaciate any tips or suggestions. My clear is fantastic but bosses are a real pain to a point where I couldn't even kill my last Shaper attempt (super low dps, arena was full of degen zones).

I'm really not sure what I'm doing wrong here, I'm using full cold conversion Syndicate Operatives and I've checked multiple guides and poe.ninja as well and it seems like I'm gearing my necro correctly.

My PoB: https://pastebin.com/Gg9Merae (around 40 ex invested so far)

Edit: my AG has a budget build: Leer Cast, Ambu's charge, Dying Breath, Victario's Flight, Southbound

    Solid bosser for SSF

    Posted: 18 Aug 2021 04:14 AM PDT

I'm looking to make a bosser but I'm running SSF so I'm a bit limited on choices. I know forbidden rite totems are really strong but it doesn't really appeal to me.

The ones I've been considering are:

general cry shield crash, would be nice but I don't have the corpsewalker boots.

Ice trapper, kinda scary having to stand still to deal dmg against bosses. Might be wrong about this build, never tried it.

Howa Jugg, doesn't seem to be very strong atm

Any other strong bossers that I should be looking at?

    Heist only Raider build crafting

    Posted: 17 Aug 2021 08:37 PM PDT

So, I haven't had much chance to play this league and so have been mapping mostly and working on two different builds (with two different purposes): My league start TR Totem Raider and a FR Hiero. I really like the Hiero that I rolled recently into maps and want to make some more currency to keep working on it. To do that I figured I would run Heist (since I league started Raider with heist in mind)…nothing interesting there. Then I considered that somehow I ended up with two Totem builds this season, which wasn't the plan when I started, but found TR a mana bitch. Raider is one of the obvious choices for running Heist, as you can pretty much just run past everything , even more so with a TR Totem setup. I started to think, considering that my Raider is a Totem setup, how could I make the build hyper focused on running Heist? A few things came to mind, which I want to throw out here and see if anyone agrees it's worth pursuing:

    • Switch to a fully defensive set of secondary skills, as damage is far less necessary than it is for mapping. Goal is go fast, clear contracts and blueprints, the faster and safer the better. Things like CWDT with Enfeeble or Phase run, maybe void sphere. .Decoy Totem. .Vaal Grace. Withering step…. Long list of possibilities.

    • Instead of TR Totems, something more inherently defensive. Maybe Freezing Pulse with the most hindering supports? I already have Totems spec'd on south and east of Tree, likely good enough for Totems that are only there to hinder so I can dip with the goods…

    • Add as much movement skill as I can to make the build even more Heist focused.

These are just some basic ideas I came up with that I will be trying out over the next while, feel free to add constructive criticism or additions. I really feel like it could trivialize Heist to a simple affair at the highest levels, which to me is not a bad thing, though I do enjoy the mechanic. Anyway, I will try to keep updates on the build progress, good or bad, for science.

Help with COC assassin build pls

    Posted: 18 Aug 2021 04:05 AM PDT

Respecced into COC assassin because my storm brand assassin was dying too much. Ironically im having similar problems with my COC assassin. Keep dying before I can level up and im having mana regen issues. Also if I cast all of my auras (Hatred/Herald of Ice/Precision/Discipline) I dont have enough mana left over to use my dash. Any advice would be appreciated. Realistically what im looking for is some changes I can make right now at level 84 so that I am a bit tankier and can get some level ups without dying all the time.

What is Voltaxic Burst good for?

    Posted: 17 Aug 2021 04:30 PM PDT

Out of all the new skills, this one looks like the one that was used to least due to delay. I want to make a build with it so if you have any input it would be greatly appreciated.

    • Short cast time (0.50), with ok damage effectiveness at %160. However, all around worse numbers compared to storm call, even the delay (2.5 vs 1.5)
    • %40 baseline chaos conversion
    • built in explode

I probably chuck in a less duration? Still, if you want to build around it, the sane way would be around the chaos conversion I presume. You obviously want to full convert with Voltaxic if you want to scale chaos somehow but that means your weapon slots are basically dead since quivers were nerfed for spellcasters, you only get conversion and %100 overshock from the weapon basically.

The only way of salvaging the situation for me would be Battlemage but the new unique is absolutely bollocks and you can't even go EO with it so I think going inquis is the way here. The skill even synergizes with consec ground considering you need to be on top of people for the skill to work.

I don't know what are good ways of scaling the skill apart from these. Poison doesn't sound very enticing since the skill is already delayed itself. I guess regular conversion stacking trickster with Eternity Shroud etc might be a thing but I'm not entirely sure. Let me know what you think might be good ways of building such a character!

    • Ice Trap Saboteur
    • Ball Lightning Miner Saboteur
    • Ball Lightning Miner Ascendant
    • Eye of Winter Miner Saboteur
    • Eye of Winter Miner Ascedant

Also is there too much difference, in your opnion, between the Saboteur and Ascedant variants when looking at boss killing aspect?

Anyone got Lead Sprinkler Ancestral Warchief builds?

    Posted: 17 Aug 2021 07:53 PM PDT

I was browsing poe.ninja for some fun builds the chieftain puts out, and I'm a big fan of totems.

I kept coming across the Ancestral Warchief Chieftain and was wondering if any of you leaguestarted it, or were perhaps aware of a build guide for it. I'm wondering if it has any serious pitfalls, like struggling with red maps, or if it's hyper expensive to get off the ground or not.

    It sounds super fun!
