I also want to extend a thanks to Mathil1 for expressing opinions that would get downvoted on this sub. Opinions that never come to light here because of how the voting system works.

    Quin69 Appreciation post <3

    Posted: 19 Aug 2021 04:48 AM PDT

I also just wanted to extend a thanks to Quin69 for showing us all that you can have fun and never even reach red maps or kill any endgame bosses. Thanks for proving to us that with a 100ex budget and a community handing you gear and currency, you can reach yellow maps with basically any build.

A summary of zizaran's podcast in one image

    Posted: 19 Aug 2021 07:01 AM PDT

At this point, Harvest can be considered as "discussed extensively"

    Posted: 19 Aug 2021 02:48 AM PDT

After Baeclast and getting grilled for Harvest, Chris spoke with his team, and confirmed his statements / thoughts.

Ziz dragged out the Harvest questions (not a bad thing) extensively. Chris stood his ground, and even memed about crafting. He explained the tough position GGG is in on crafting, but that they are resting their case.

I think the community should take a breath, and just tank this one. Let it rest and make a plan around it.

Thank you to Ziz and Chris. Not being a victim of hope feels great, genuinely.

Never thought I would see it, but recent reviews of POE on steam has now dropped under 50% positive.

I would enjoy GGG Build Showcases

    Posted: 19 Aug 2021 02:47 AM PDT

In the podcast on the topic of build viability, Chris said something along the lines:

I guess we could publish GGG sanctioned build guides of ones that are really powerful, but players work them out themselves. We want a discussion of what you guys want from this. What's the change you're asking from us with regard to the viability of skills? (...) Do you want us to start giving hints?

Now I totally agree that there are probably plenty of viable builds that aren't discussed in the community, or not (widely) discovered. And GGG should not take the chances from the community to find such builds themselves.

But I would really enjoy a showcase of a build that GGG thinks is maybe flying under the radar, or shines in a specific area of the game (bossing for example), or is simply satisfying to play. I'm not asking for a list of PoBs, but maybe a 10-15 minute video just once a league where GGG showcases a build. This could happen two or three weeks into the new league when people have the feeling that the meta has settled.

I know it's lots of work on their end and probably wouldn't be a high priority. And realistically there'd also be some degree of backlash from people with the usual 'out of touch' comments, but I think it would send a nice message and maybe even drive up this sense of discovery within the community that has been declining for a while now.

It's time for POE and GGG to move on past the shadow of D2 and embrace the game they made in the last decade.

    Posted: 19 Aug 2021 03:28 AM PDT

    look, I get it.
you were in your mid 20's you wanted to bring the old feeling of your youth back playing the game you loved, no one else will do it so you did.. so you and a bunch of simeller minded frindes started a company just for that.
but, along the way you stumble open a new ARPG genre the "zoom ARPG" which brought many more players than the initial group that spurted your bug D2 mod called POE.
now the second group outnumbers the first one by a lot but you dont want to disappoint either group. a bad place to be no doubt.
you can see there are 2 groups within GGG as well, one that pushed for POE to be a fast new game with new spins on ARPG mechanics over the years and the second group (probably mostly the funders and Chris) want to keep the game feeling as old or "nostalgic" to players as they can not realizing that if ppl wanted a slow diablo to game they have much better options to play (including the D2 resurct itself or old D2 mods)
this + the F2P cycle of 3 months development meant POE will never reach the polish or balance levels that D2 had, but it will feel "bigger" with lots of small not well-implemented mechanics (leagues like ritual, ultimatum so on..)
now this just make POE players like a VERY OLD bluted D2 mod with no vision of its own.

i think GGG should wither give up on that dream that players want a game to feel and play like a 20 year old game (with no QOL which make lots of ppl to quit faster)

or split their games into 2.
POE 1 a F2P fast unbalanced game with OP but FUN skills where you can zoom in end game.
and POE 2, a 40$ old school ARPG with balance polish and slow mindful gameplay more like the original POE viseon from 10 years ago but made with a budget and experience this time around.

END GAME can be the same for bout but balanced difrenttliy with different rates like in SSF.
and instead of deciding or pushing as many of new but not worth a while game mechanics GGG can move to a longer development cycle and revisit old league mechanics (like delve, heist, synthesis, harvest and etc..) and fix/rework them and make them another good End game option like maps.

    Zizaran Appreciation Post <3

    Posted: 18 Aug 2021 06:42 PM PDT

I had high hopes for this Ziz and Chris interview because I felt Ziz was more in tune with how the community felt about the recent changes to the game. Much more so than the other big PoE streamers. I knew he'd ask the hard hitting questions and go more in depth on why the community feels the way they do about it and try to relay those thoughts to Chris instead of just taking his word as law and moving on to the next question like in past interviews with different streamers. The harvest and build viability questions stood out the most to me and I just want to thank Ziz for representing those of us that don't have the power to reach out to GGG.

As a player that went down to delve 500 i cant agree with Chris saying delve is the best source for fossils

    Posted: 19 Aug 2021 05:04 AM PDT

    https://clips.twitch.tv/AttractiveGleamingRamenYee-q76jEzEiZWSL9Hnp

This league i gave delve a try since i havent played it for a long time. I tried to open every crack to reach fossils. I really tried hard with my coc build which was fast and strong enough to go a little deeper. compared to other mechanics, delve might be the worst way to get fossils.

Mechanics we have to compare devle with:
    Incubators
    Simulacrums
    Delirium Orbs
    Legion Runs
    Blighted Maps

Maybe i forgot some mechanics but you get the idea.
Just by using the first 3 listed mechanics i almost get double the amount of fossils per hour compared to going (deep) delving. Considered the amount of time/currency i need to invest to keep running delve there is no point for an average casual player to run delve purposly to get fossils.

”You think you do, but you don’t”

    Posted: 18 Aug 2021 05:47 PM PDT

For those who don't know the reference this is what the Blizzard staff answered a question about having classic servers in WoW with. I got the same kind of feeling from Chris Wilson on todays podcast…

I want to preface this rant with this though… I think doing the podcasts are good and I applaud Chris and GGG for having the balls to do them at all.

However. I cannot help but get the same feeling I got about WoW several years ago. That is the feeling of GGG completely writing off community outcry as whining and it makes me worried for the games longevity.

Everybody who is on reddit likely knows there is a widely held sentiment about build viability beeing awful atm and I think Ziz did a good job of reflecting this in his questions. People still play loads of different skills but the difference in effectiveness between meta builds and a sub par build has increased alot in my experience. They have made it harder for me to pick and choose a build if I want to play the the game how I like it.

Now I might be one of a kind and no one ends up agreeing with me and thats fine, although I don't think thats the case. What is upsetting is seeing Chris and Mathil write this off as lazyness. Even if they might be 100% correct this is not the way to approach a seemingly widely held sentiment. If you want to make people hopeful about the future of poe maybe instead look into making information about mechanics more available or fixing the wiki so that you dont need to have all this information in the back of your head to make a build?

EDIT: This was obviously a very dividing topic. I want to clarify that my Blizzard analogy wasnt meant to equate GGG to Blizzard but rather explain the vibe I was getting. Apparently I wasnt clear enough there.

Like most people in the comments I am very passionate about this game and want it to be successful. Thats why I think its important that us players provide constuctive feedback and discuss in a civil manner when we encounter gameplay decisions we dont agree with. Essentially to help GGG keep making great content. So please be civil and discuss things like adults. Reddit doesnt need more pointless flame.

[Feedback] How to EASILY fix 2nd character campaign - Make waypoints account-wide

    Posted: 18 Aug 2021 05:59 PM PDT

So in the interview today they are talking about the campaign being an issue and I've agreed for a long time.

That's why I think this fix is basically genius. If you get every waypoint on your 2nd character, you can basically do "endless delve" if you choose to.

Or if you want to play BOTH of the campaign and delve, you can do both.

You reach act 4 and unlock delve, and you can go delve. Then you're 10 levels higher than you should be for act 4, so you can just go to the appropriate area level for your character via waypoint.

You can do your alvas and level up in the incursion temple and just skip a few campaign zones. Same with doing low level heists.

I feel like this is a pretty good solution to breaking up the monotony of the campaign without breaking the entire game. Does anyone have any counter-points?

Can we Stop With the Hard Mode Talk Until Normal Mode is Good?

    Posted: 18 Aug 2021 10:40 PM PDT

Just a rant from the latest live stream with Chris...

We get that GGG, especially Chris is excited about Hard Mode. But right now our problem is with the NORMAL MODE. Can we get some focus on current problems instead of "But in Hard Mode we did this! You can check it out in Hard Mode"

Edit: I'm not against hard mode. I'm glad Chris has a passion project on the side. What I'm frustrated about is a question being asked about core Poe and Chris deflecting it with an answer about Hard Mode that doesn't actually answer the question.

Chris rolling with reddit and the memes is possibly the funniest thing I have from the dev team in a long time, I was rolling on the floor laughing throughout

Chris is an absolute legend, no matter all our differences and playstyles and think he's probably one of the most liked members of the PoE community.

Did you guys find him funny as well?

Chris has been a real MVP for going onto these podcasts and getting hit with hardball questions and a lot of pushback. GGG is active in the community and its honestly refreshing to see the transparency. I dont want to make the post about the topics, but I did want to give a shout out to Chris and GGG for being engaged with the community. Thanks for the great game!
