Blight is a tower defense game. You don't need a specific build.

    Posted: 18 Oct 2021 10:07 AM PDT

Dedicating this to the countless people thinking t16 blighted maps are difficult so I can just link this thread when people ask for help.

You can do T16 rare blighted maps without attacking once. Proof: https://youtu.be/EB3M3LrHhN8

Does attacking help? Sure and it is probably faster but you don't need it.

Setup: You ring anoint empower tower range on one and on the second you do another range or a empower tower damage anoint. The above video is two range anoints. Run maps white to get used to it. Avoid rolled maps with anti-cc map mods like can't be stunned or action speed can't be modified or minion speed until you get the hang of it. Minion life + unique life on high tier maps need full CC or a high damage boss build to help your towers. You only need t13+ to get golden oils, it generally isn't cost effective to bulk buy t16s and run them even if you can easily do it.

Get into map: Put portal on pump, start pump, build nothing. You wait for 4th lane to spawn so you can ID the first choke point.

Tower basics: Towers deactivate when you are more than ~2 screens away. So you only build within 2 screens of the pump. Empowering towers are never upgraded to T4. The Empowering tower buff is line of sight from the tower; this makes certain map layouts a bitch like indoor maps where your towers are separated by rooms or obstacles. If the tower doesn't have the ring around the base then it doesn't have the Empowering tower buff but some terrain rarely hides the ring anyways like on slopes or stairs.

Build on choke points: This depends on the map. In the video above I had fire and lightning immune in my first 6 lanes that funneled into my 1st choke point so I can't just arc tower. T3 Empower on T3 seismic is stun lock. You want frost towers to help with seismic immune if any and to help clump up the lane for your damage tower to aoe down. Typically you want a seismic and frost overlapping on every choke point if possible. You then want a damage tower that is either not immune for the map or build 2 damage towers that can both hit the choke point.

    Best damage towers:

    1. Arc- Highest damage, can single-handedly hold a choke point if not immune. Weakness is low range.
    2. Meteor- high range allows you to build 1 for every 2 choke points. Second highest damage. Needs choke points to function properly
    3. Scout- Okayish damage, can work, just situational. In the video I use scouts to thin out some of the fire immune waves because I had bad arc tower placement options.
    4. T3/2 Fire- can shotgun. Useful on maps with terrible tower placement or tons of frost and seismic immune because high range and shot gun overlap.

Most of the time your damage is solely for 1 of 4 things: helping kill bosses, stun immune roas charging past on revive, proximity shield blob, clean up phase. Again, not required but any damage you do can help speed up the map. I generally help with the first 2 bosses just so I can afk the rest of the map faster.

Clean up: Around 30 seconds left on timer you will see lanes turn off when their mobs no longer count for map completion, follow highlighted lanes to the portal to guarantee deactivating a lane. Careful that you don't have a big blob because you will turn off your towers near your pump when you do this. Minion and Lightning lanes tend to get stuck, high chance of a big blob of minions near the portal or snagging on terrain. You can save about min if you speed up the cleanup up phase and do damage yourself, not needed but every min adds up when farming.

    edit:

How to deal with seismic or frost immune lanes:

Multiple ways to deal with it, depends on tower placement for the map.

    • Seismic immune can still be slowed considerably by t3 frost towers. And Frost immune can still be stunned seismic towers
    • Minions do engage in body blocking in lanes if you clump everything up into a tight spot. This is why you tend to have a choke point with both frost and seismic towers
    • You can also build t2/3 fire towers around the map to thin out the waves. I do this for terrible tower placement maps, like only towers on the perimeter, no choke points at all. But can be used in any setup
    • A glacial tower near the pump helps catch leaks with either a meteor or scout setup near it.
    • And as always, you can help some with your own damage as a last resort.

Hot Info on Poisonous Concoction, right of the source

You can't stop me, I will finally league start cobra lash (+Pastebin)

    Posted: 18 Oct 2021 09:42 PM PDT

EDITS MADE THROUGH COMMUNITY HELP SO FAR:

    • running GMP instead of void manipulation drops base dps to 700k, but swapping void sphere for hydrosphere allows double single target dps for a total DPS of 1.5M. This let us drop some DPS for much needed spell defenses.

    https://pastebin.com/179udVei

I've been trying to do this for over a year now and I could never figure out how to make cobra lash playable without investment - AKA league starter viable. I'm a stubborn idiot and I refuse to use builds I didn't make, so this has stumped me for a long time.

But no longer! The new dagger nodes have finally given it some much needed help.

    Nice benefits:

    • Uses a neat skill that never sees the light of day
    • 1.5 million Sirus dps on a one button playstyle with pleasant clearspeed and a low budget
    • No wither totems needed on a chaos DoT skill - withering touch is linked to main skill
    • Most equipment slots are just life/res so we can easily hunt for good scourge corrupts
    • Decent life sustain (1.1k leech on hit / 5.6k life)
    • Fast even without flasks on (permanent elusive on hit from nightblade support with 78% additional elusive effect)
    • No janky BS like requiring you to leap slam into mobs to maintain fortify
    • built in +5 chain on top of GMP for insane clear potential
    • 50% evade + 30% base block + 45% spell suppression with no flasks on
    • plague bearer, everyone loves plague bearer
    • Uses the new purity of ailments elements for prevention of post-death desk slamming
    • Runs an arcanist brand to spam a curse and hydrosphere, if you've never done this before, it's nice

    Important downsides:

    • Attack speed is very important to quickly build stacks, a low speed dagger will feel bad even if it's high PDPS
    • High INT and some STR is mandatory on the amulet slot or you will have to sacrifice for it
    • Purity of elements is 50% reservation now, we can't run our third aura choice (skitterbots or flesh and stone) until we nab an enlighten gem

Room for improvement of course, I threw this together in an hour - would love ideas to make this better!

Can Radius Jewels Affect Masteries? (eg. Energy from Within near Melding with this Life Mastery)

3.16 Ready and (HC)SSF Compatible - Max Block Impale Shield Crush Gladiator - Crush the Atlas - 3.5m+ Sirus DPS on cheap gear

    Posted: 18 Oct 2021 06:12 PM PDT

I'm back this league with an updated version of Shield Crush. Despite the nerfs to block, Shield Crush still looks like a extremely reliable, all content capable starter for Scourge League!

3.16 Compatible PoB can be found here: https://pastebin.com/BPDbRHi5

You can find the forum post with extensive breakdowns on gear, mechanics, upgrade paths, and levelling here

    Notable Changes are as follows:

    • We are still pretty tanky despite the slight HP nerfs and the block nerf, landing at just about 100k eHP across the board or higher depending on the variant chosen. We now hit 60/50 block naturally without any additions on gear apart from the base Colossal Shield block chance.
    • We can now support 5 auras and still have ~15% open mana thanks to the Bannerman/Champion of the Cause cluster along with the mana reservation efficiency passive mastery.
    • Multiple different defensive versions of the build have been added, utilizing the 79/78/78 resistances you get from the Prismatic Skin tree and using a 6500+ life variant via Belly of the Beast. This can be padded even higher if you want to cut more damage.
    • Fortify is now built in, and we get 24 fortifiction stacks which totals to 24% less damage taken.
    • We're more reliant on Ancestral Totems for bossing damage, but mapping damage more or less remains unchanged.
    • Endgame options have been added that you can craft yourself, which look to be cheaper than buying something outright. All endgame stretches are outlined with steps.

Things that I don't know yet:

    • It looks like Blood in the Eyes will be better than the new Violent Retaliation ascendancy passive, as the bonuses don't seem to be that high and I cannot calculate if ignoring physical damage reduction gives us a better boost. Blood in the Eyes is better on paper, but this might change on release.
    • Armor values for shields might give us a lower top-end when it comes to damage, and will need verification once we get the new raw shield numbers and such.
    • Scourge corruptions can give a lot of power, but have not been factored in for the time being.

If there's any concerns or questions you might have, please let me know! I'm always open for feedback to push this build as far as it can.

Anyone else completely overwhelmed with the changes and unsure of what to start?

    Posted: 18 Oct 2021 07:57 PM PDT

I've never really been too good at creating my own builds and usually just browse PoE-Ninja's top players and copy something from there.

I tend to like builds that I can league start with and eventually tackle most if not all content. I can't for the life of me figure out which defenses are worth investing into. Is spell suppression any good? Is Phase Acrobatics worth grabbing or not?

How does layering defences work now?

RF Discussion for those who wish to league start

    Posted: 18 Oct 2021 09:14 PM PDT

For the RF enthusiast I am excited to see the passive tree bring so many goodies for us. I'd Like to share the skill tree I whipped up and was wondering what ppl thought/ what others are doing for our beloved burning man.

    https://pastebin.com/4VrnMCXb

I believe that going chieftain is the play being able to so easily hit 90% max fire res. Turning phys hits to fire will help makes us much tankier and the ascendancy provides a good amount of damage. With pretty obtainable gear I think POB would be a good start for those who wish to play rf. IK the jewels will be hard to make and are most the damage but this just means you can spec out of jewels and get more generic dot mult/ele damage on the tree until you can make good jewels.

Also becoming curse immune and ailment immune is possible. for this you'd need the curse ring crafts along with new pantheon and 20% curse reduction on tree via mastery. Ailment immune if you want to run purity of elements over any other aura

also there are two trees. One with jewels and one without for reference

The Skilltree got a balance pass; update your PoB

    Posted: 19 Oct 2021 03:59 AM PDT

Most notably a lot of minion damage got added back in. Otherwise a few exploit cases got fixed.

    - "Link Skills can target Minions" + "Link Skills can target Damagable[sic] Minions" - "Reflect Physical Damage equal to 500% of Physical Damage prevented when Hit" + "100% increased Armour from Equipped Shield" - "Spells cause you to gain Mana equal to their Cost every fifth time you cast them" + "Spells cause you to gain Mana equal to their Upfront Cost every fifth time you Pay it"

    Link to the full diff.

3.16 Fireball Ignite Elementalist league starter

    Posted: 18 Oct 2021 06:44 PM PDT

    Hey all,

I love the play style of ignite and how fireball can just clear screens, as well as the archetype of a flame ball casting wizard. I know this isn't good when it comes to bossing, but I just want a build I can rip maps with and also take down bosses (doesn't have to be fast, just gets the job done)

I have created my first shot at my own build since the POB patch dropped for 3.16, and I am looking for any help/suggestions/critiques on what you all think of it! Please go easy, as this is my first go at creating my own build :) .

    thanks all!

    Wintertide Brand build?

    Posted: 18 Oct 2021 07:43 PM PDT

Really looking to play this skill, it's one of my favorite skills mechanically but every league that I play it, it feels reaaaaally lackluster and even just slotting Vortex in with the same tree/gems instead feels infinitely better. It's getting some base damage this coming league to compensate for EE/EO, and with Holy Conquest on the mastery I'm wondering if this skill would be worth using as a main skill, and if so, which way to go about it?

Also, I thought there was supposed to be like Cold DoT masteries? Seems like most of the Cold Masteries don't really benefit a Cold Dot build, as 4 out of the 6 are for freezing only.

If there isn't sufficient support for this skill I might just go for some ignite build since there seems to be a lot of nice stuff going for that with the new masteries/tree and such. But I'd really love to use this skill, so any advice/tree would be appreciated!

Chieftain Ice Crash Ignite 3.16 League Starter

    Posted: 19 Oct 2021 12:02 AM PDT

Pathing? Nodes I should prioritize over others? Other supports? All feedback is welcome. Thanks!

    https://pastebin.com/Vi4zy8Uy

[Cluster jewels will be added later, I like to plan a league Starter without them]

    Also questions:

    1. Do I need to worry about mana leech to sustain my damage? I figure I'm attacking only once every 1-3 seconds so it's not that big of a deal and I maybe can rely on mana regen, or am I wrong and it is a big deal and I should make sure I have it?
    2. With 60% reduced reflected Elemental Damage taken from Mastery, 25% reduced reflected damage taken from Yugul, beefed up Fire Res, and relatively low hit damage, can I safely run Ele Reflect maps with this setup?

Tired of bad league starts that get stuck on t14-16 red maps. Seeking advice/guidance

Someone has an arma brand build for 3.16?

    Posted: 19 Oct 2021 02:34 AM PDT

Note: Pardon my english, i'm not a native speaker.

Pretty much title. It would also be a plus if it has a leveling tree progression... I found a lot of guides for 3.15 but none of those are updated for 3.16 with the new mastery system, changes to EO and so on, so please only builds that are updated for 3.16 with pob. Thanks!

Easily overlooked buff for Life based DoT Occultist

    Posted: 18 Oct 2021 12:07 PM PDT

The new passive tree has 2 small nodes with "recover 2% life on killing a cursed enemy" to the right of EO, a much needed buff for Life based DoT Occultists to counter the previous cinderswallow nerf.

Previously only Cold DoT still had easy access to life gained on kill (against chilled enemies) and they needed cluster jewels for that.

Really tempted to league start Poisonous Concoction, would like advice from some poison experts

    Posted: 18 Oct 2021 12:11 PM PDT

    Hey guys, the only poison build I've ever played has been a poison BV a *really* long time ago, and I absolutely loved the clear of using a Bino's and seeing my poison spread. Single target was awesome as well;

I'd love to play another poison build with a similar mechanic, so my eyes have been turned towards PF poison "proliferation", but the poison skills ppl currently use with PF really don't interest me (scourge arrow etc.). Poison Concoction seems like it will be a really good time though.

I know it's too early to tell if the skill will be good or not and too early to know the best ways to scale it etc., but I'd love if someone could enlighten me on how people normally go about scaling poison builds in general on a PF (both offensively and defensively, considering the region(s) in the tree they normally play around), so that I can have a better understanding by the time we have more data on how the skill works.

    Thank you!

    Aura changes support builds

    Posted: 19 Oct 2021 01:42 AM PDT

    Hi all,

With the changes to the clusters jewels, support aura players most likely sould no longer be taking clusters, as such the trend is most likely sending us back towards a good timeless jewel to attain effectiveness. Please keep in mind I'm not talking about league start specifically here.

Gearwise, Victarios is probably no longer viable, given that we can no longer equip as many auras as previously, we need to focus on auras that can affect us - previously I'd put anger, hatred, wrath, empower, awk gen in there - I'm curious, is this going to be the time for Saqawal's nest OR with the new mastery, 30% inc life reservation efficiency, are we going to see a resergeance of Shav + prism guardian auras (if so, this change sends up back 4 years).

Amuletwise I'm conflicted between an rmr (name should probably change now, but that's what I'm used to calling it) ammy or a jinxed juju. Probably a jinxed early game and swap for rmr later.

Helmet I'm most likely going for a rare hubris with rmr and if possible, later, a synthed base with aura effect. Early days sticking with an alphas.

Boots, some people are saying march of the legion, I think we can get away with Skyforth (obviously not on league start).

Breathstealer gloves could be an idea, giving 2 annoints, depending on theh kind of timeless one gets...

Also important changes, annointing champion of the cause is most likely no longer the way to go, as there's another small node for rmr next to it.

Thoughts, looking for other people's ideas.

Scourge class/build for a first time player?

    Posted: 18 Oct 2021 04:55 PM PDT

So I unluckily started playing PoE 3 days ago, got to level 15 before realizing a new ladder was about to start. I played enough to know that I love the game! I want to start over with a build that will be relevant, fun, and not incredibly difficult to gear/succeed with.

I am a fast learner so it doesn't have to be SUPER beginner friendly, as long as it's not overly difficult.

Please no Archmage Heirophant and no Templar: This is what I played to level 15 and I'd rather not play the exact same thing again. Thanks!

206% life pathfinder, decent chaos res and all res on tree+ some spell suppression and lots of evasion

Just some bad evasion pieces and a jade bring us to 30k evasion.

Could this potentially be a good SSF HC starter? Im scared this might be a bit squishy compared to other options but I still think this should be super strong. Thoughts?

Brutus Battlemage Cry (6.2% increased damage per 10 strength)

    Posted: 18 Oct 2021 07:52 PM PDT

This is basically just combining mechanics from previous builds I've seen + iron will for stupid scaling.

    Standard BM Cry Berserker:

-Redblade Banner + Battlemage Cry + War Bringer

    • 210% of increases to spell damage as increases to attack (Natural Authority cluster, you can probably see where this is going)

    • extremely high Berserk uptime

    • 50% more damage off your 5 exerted attacks

    • BMCry QoL (autocast curses, wave of conviction, etc)

    Standard Brutus Strength Stack:

    • Iron Fortress for 3% increased melee per 10 strength

    • Iron Will to convert your 3% to spell damage (which is then converted to 6.2% pure attack damage)

    • Sprinkler for flat damage yay

I haven't seen this specific combo mentioned yet, and it seems hard to beat for melee in terms of raw scaling and power for such minimal gear investment. Also, you don't need to wear Crown of Eyes, which frees up an entire helmet slot.

    Thoughts?

    Extreme budget Hexblast ignite elementalist

    Posted: 19 Oct 2021 12:38 AM PDT

Hello people, I've made POB with new tree for Hexblast ignite with budget in mind. It uses multiple defense layers such as armour with es recovery and block along with recovery on ignited enemies so there shouldn't be much problems outside endgame bosses. You can move to Blackflame or higher investment of this fire with cluster jewels, Bereks Respite or Abberath's Hoofs, Watchers eye, Xibaqua Glorious Vanity.

    https://pastebin.com/cRPMivXB

This is just a starter template, and if you have any good idea on improving it im glad to hear it!

    PS

Ignite damage is not calculating right since skill gems are not updated but it should be the same or even bit higher with flame surge in mind.

    UPDATE

Updated POB, i think Divine Shield wont be worth it so i made alternate POB just in case. It is more effective life pool and DPS. Now you have recover 2% of life on block which is on 75% with Glancing Blows.

Also new notable Infused Flesh cluster should give 30% of damage taken with hits recoup over 4 seconds. Which is another layer of recovery.
