    My 3.16 guides are done!

Hi All! I hope everyone is as excited for the 3.16 changes as I am!

Thanks to the new league launch schedule this league, both my BONE ZOMBIES and RIGHTEOUS INCINERATOR guides are done! They aren't just done though...I had time to rebuild them from the ground up and ensure that things are exactly as I want them. This league, along with the core balance changes and additions, has added nothing but positive benefits for my builds. I'm really excited to take them into gameplay! (Click on the link above for build summaries. I don't want to bore you with too much text.)

For those that aren't familiar with my guides, I design all my guides from a Solo-Self-Found perspective. I like the old-school dungeon crawlers where the only gear you could get, was from a corpse (not trade). So my builds don't revolve around any fancy mods or items. You can use what you find and not worry about the build losing functionality, while still clearing the Atlas as you progress your items. (Now don't go being a Cotton Headed Ninny Muggins and think that because this build doesn't require anything specific that you can go and melt end game content with crap gear. Crap gear will clear crap content while amazing gear will clear amazing content. My build/guide style just allows you more freedom to get there...m'kay?)

The builds are highly customizable so feel free to switch skills around to something more to your liking if the playstyle interests you but the main skills don't. I play PoE just to relax and unwind, so I make all my builds to be as "1-button" as possible.

    Have a great 3.16! I can't wait! Good luck!

PLUG!: Tagz and I have a PoE podcast called Forever Exiled! We have a TON of fun in our weekly episodes nerding out about everything in PoE Land. We've had some great interviews with different content creators and GGG employees and are quite excited for the upcoming ones we have scheduled. Think of us as just a couple of buds hanging out at a restaurant chatting about PoE over some drinks. If you have the time for a little more PoE in your week, pull up a chair and join in! You should probably love it ;-). It'd be a good idea.

Thanks, GGG for getting so much information out as early as you did this league! It made content updates/creation so much easier and stress-free, which really helped efficiency. Here's hoping for the next league too.

Looking like a strong alternative to Subtractem's version. Would love to hear thoughts.

Note: I had to set PoB to Sirus myself and do a couple other small tweaks.

Storm Brand Inquisitor - Cold/Lightning Crit -- anyone have thoughts?

    Posted: 19 Oct 2021 07:47 PM PDT

Looking for some help with my starter --> main build. PoB linked below for a near-final build (some unspent skill points, some placeholder gear, arctic armor in place of new tempest shield to get res #s right).

The gist of the build is petrified blood, low-life, glancing blows max block (using Tempest shield for spell block and shock immunity), ramp up the life/ES regeneration to over 1000/second, use Corrupted Soul for ES and damage split for better use of regen, use body armor craft for ES as % of life, goose up effect of non-damaging ailments, and use crits to freeze/chill/shock enemies with 5x bouncing storm brands. 95% curse immunity. Shock res from Tempest Shield, Freeze/shock protection from Brine King, Ignites I'll deal with.

Yes, I know a lot of the gear isn't starter gear, but I think it's all attainable and there's room for jewels and better body armor. I'll start as lightning only until I get 4th lab and a CoB ring. I think damage will be fine in yellow maps until I can get money for better gear.

Scourge to taste, and I think it'll be real nice.

I'm eager to share and hear from anyone thinking about doing something similar. Tips and criticism welcome!

    Thanks,

    Andrew

    3.16 LL Lancing Steel Champion

    Posted: 19 Oct 2021 06:44 PM PDT

As I just recently hit 1000 hours on steam, I figured it was time to try my hand at creating my own build this league. I've dabbled in builds before but I've generally fallen back on poe ninja for correction after a week or two post league start. With the tree update, I'm looking to reddit for help on avoiding those two weeks of struggle before my inevitable correction.

Wanted to try lancing steel this league so I'm doing it as a dual wield phys low life Champion.

Defenses seem solid enough for SC but I'm wondering how it will hold up as LL. Will likely swap out pride for purity of elements for ailment immunity once I can craft good enough weapons. Defenses are blind, ailment immunity, 78/77/77 resists, ~15k armor, elusive on block, 50/50 block w/ glancing blows, 3 endurance charges, fortify, some life on hit/overleech. Didn't add in the Paradoxica/Saviour combo as I'll be playing SSF and I'm not sure I'll see them until way late in the league if at all.

    Questions I have..

What attack speed breakpoint is important for lancing steel to feel good?

The way adrenaline reads, it seems as thought the ailment immunity only occurs every 20 seconds when adrenaline is reapplied. Or is it reapplied every time I dip back into LL and I will be effectively ailment immune and can stick to Pride?

Does champion benefit from nodes that grant +maximum fortify if you aren't generating fortify from hits? The ascendancy reads like you have 20 stacks no matter what. (Also Rampart seems bugged in the tree right now, was considering those 3 attack damage while you have fortify nodes for easy early damage)

Can I hit level 100 with this build comfortably with enough investment?

    Be kind. Constructive criticism please.

    Edited POB after feedback:

Really happy with the numbers on this build. Might pull the damage back for more life as I progress into higher tier content based on how it feels.

Minion league starter - which is better Kay or Vikton?

    Posted: 20 Oct 2021 03:19 AM PDT

Decided to play a summoner as I am a lazy player and thought summoner is a good way to get some currency early on.

I am not sure whether I should follow Kay's minion guide (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=taj0yghh95U)

or one of Von Vikton's guides (skellie mages or stone golems)

    CA Death's Oath Occultist

    Posted: 19 Oct 2021 07:34 PM PDT

So I've been trying to piece together a good CA DO build, but I just feel like even with top tier gear it really isn't putting up any DPS numbers.

    https://pastebin.com/XY8HCzf6

The bow is craftable with 10-12 ex, Elesshar on Youtube has the process. The quiver is fossil crafted, and the belt is the same or hunter ex slammed. So the gear isn't crazy, but requires a good investment. But even with it, I am just not getting the numbers I would expect with CA or DO.

Are there any builders out there that have run the numbers of a CA DO build and come to other conclutions.

Another version I was looking at was pathing down the left side of the tree for the armor and armor mastery for physical defenses and running determination. This version had way better defenses and ehp, but completely lacked in damage, coming in at about 60% less.

    Ignite/Poison Scourge Arrow Pathfinder

    Posted: 19 Oct 2021 11:56 PM PDT

This is a build I played in ritual, upgraded for 3.16 league start.

    https://pastebin.com/n0Nr63Li

It uses Blackflame and Replica Volkuur's Guidance to effectively turn ignites into big poisons that don't stack; they're based off of fully chaos converted damage, and also deal chaos damage so wither/despair. The ignites help to "frontload" my damage, getting my poison prolif rolling faster.

Very early league getting uniques may not be dependable, so I'm planning to league start as pure poison. Without little more than a Lioneye's Glare and life/res gear, my level 75-ish tree hits 800k DPs.

With a slightly better rare bow, ignite gear, and a frenzy-on-crit quiver and my level 90 tree, that doubles to 1.6 million dps.

Darkscorn is a huge upgrade (and also helps with physical defense with capped chaos res), and with that and some better gear pushes 2.5m.

    Any thoughts or advice?

Is the monster life on poedb accurate?

    Posted: 19 Oct 2021 11:52 PM PDT

Here's the page for stoneskin flayer. It says that the monster life of a normal monster is 317,655 at level 84.

Does anyone know where this number is coming from? My own research says:

    • Monster base life at 84 is 16265 (based on this datamined json)
    • With 800% life multiplier, 16265 * 8 = 130120

    Is there something I'm missing?

Context is that I'm looking into a detonate dead ignite build, so I'm also assuming that normal monster life is equal to corpse life.
