Any tips or secret tech to make leveling a marauder less painful? (berserker)

Any tips or secret tech to make leveling a marauder less painful? (berserker)

So I recently made a post asking how raider and zerker compare at lightning strike. After getting quite a few good answers, I decided to just try leveling the zerker, as the tree alone looked harder than a ranger.

As most of the YT videos on the LS Zerker are from Kobeblackmamba, I followed his advice for levelling and it is absolutely painful.

Everything until around the start of Act 4 was pretty chill, but after that it was just pure pain. I stopped leveling in Act 6, after I switched to LS with a claw pretty similar to his in this video, but it was total zdps, so I probably stick to something else until I have a "gg" claw. I switched away from helix + frost blades, as their damage was also pretty meh.

Since level 12 I used spectral Helix, upgrading my two-hander as often as I could but it got so painfully slow that my single target was trash, even with 50 rage.

This is the tree I'm supposed to use before I switch to claws (except the fortify nodes)

He recommended going elemental damage with added fire and ele dam as links, but as you mainly get phys damage via the vendor recipe, wouldn't going full phys be way better? (while still using Herald of Ash)

Is there anything that works better with that tree that could carry me up to A10 Kitava? Maybe playing the piano with earthshatter? I did not use berserk, so maybe that is the key to success?

What was your hipster build of 3.16. that actually worked?

    Posted: 23 Jan 2022 01:18 AM PST

I'm looking a bit for build ideas and stumbled upon a Maw of Mischief Stone Golem Elementalist. Now I'm itching for similar builds that are flying under the radar and are actually performing pretty well.

Question regarding the acquisition of the '+X% Chaos Damage Over Time Multiplier' modifier via the Immoeral Syndicate

    Posted: 23 Jan 2022 12:21 PM PST

    // Failed the headline :/

    Hey folks,

I'm currently working on an in-depth beginner-friendly guide for a Toxic Rain build (which should also function in SSF). At some point of the early endgame, the player is suppposed to acquire the Betrayal Craft '+X% Chaos Damage Over Time Multiplier'. The problem is: I actually never bothered with the Betrayal mechanic which is why I have no in-depth knowledge of how to acquire the respetive craft the fastest and most reliable way possible.

Nevertheless, I tried to compile some information for new players and I would really appreciate if you guys could identify major flaws in the following draft.

    Thanks a lot in advance.

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Task: Get the Betrayal craft '+X% Chaos Damage Over Time Multiplier'

You can get this craft by playing the 'Betrayal' league mechanic, also known as Immortal Syndicate, which is quite complex. So in order to make it as simple as possible, just be aware of the following:

There are three ways to encounter the Betrayal league mechanic:

    • Random encounter in maps: Immortal Syndicate members will spawn and attack you.
    • Atlas Missions: If you put a Map into your map Device you can add 'Area will contain Immortal Syndicate activity' by activating the respective option at the bottom (Immortal Syndicate is the second option from right). By the way: Each time you kill a map boss, there's a chance you get a random Atlas Mission.
    • Immortal Syndicate Safehouses: Each time you encounter Immortal Syndicate members, their respective Safehouses gain progress. Once the progress reaches 100%, you can enter the Safehouse and defeat Immortal Syndicate members that are assigned to it.

There is only one reliable way to get the '+X% Chaos Damage Over Time Multiplier' craft …you have to unveil weapons dropped by a Syndicate member called 'It That Fled' (Veiled items have unknown modifiers which can be unveiled by talking to Jun by selecting her dialog option 'Unveil Items'.)

The problem here is that 'It That Fled' is not on the initial Syndicate board. Therefore, you have to follow / be aware of the following steps / rules:

    1. Remove members from the Syndicate board until 'It That Fled' appears
    2. Once 'It That Fled' is on your board, you hope you will encounter him the next time you face Syndicate members and that he drops the respective items which let you unveil the craft (repeat this until you've received the craft - note: you might have to unveil several items with this craft to actually gain it for your Crafting Bench).
    3. Never ever choose the option to remove or imprison 'It That Fled' from your Syndicate board until you have the craft unlocked (if these are the only options to choose from, you can release him by pressing the respective button above your hotbar on the bottom right).
    4. Increasing the ranks of Syndicate members or destroying their items is always a decent choice.
    5. Never ever choose the option to remove all rivalries.
    6. Don't kill the endboss of the Immortal Syndicate (that's the Safehouse on top of the Syndicate board - it's pretty unlikely you will gain access to that before you get the craft, but you never know …)

    ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    Cheers
    Your friendly neighborhood Exile!

New Dancing Dervish - Going poison with Poisonous Concoction?

    Posted: 23 Jan 2022 03:23 PM PST

I faintly remember playing Dancing Dervish with poison a couple leagues ago, and it was pretty efficient by itself. But since you are unarmed while it's out, there wasn't really anything to do.

Now with poisonous concoction recently released and the sword getting updated to also proc rampage on melee hit, do you guys have any idea on what direction I could go in? Keeping rampage up while mapping shouldn't be a problem, but getting it to start and to keep it up on bosses seems to be another can of worms, literally. You guys have any idea?

[3.16] CoC Poison Detonate Dead Assassin

    Posted: 22 Jan 2022 09:15 PM PST

Hey guys, here's one of my end of the league characters I was experimenting with that started off as just a poison CoC hexblast build using perfect agony and Ungil's. We went through a bunch of different skills before testing the alt quality of detonate dead and converting 99% of it to chaos by using an elevated +1 to active skill gems body armor mod to get an extra 10% of quality. This build absolutely destroys anything I could throw at it, but we'll have to see what they end up doing to DD if it survives to see another league. Until then, I've definitely enjoyed playing this build and I'll post the PoB of the version in the video, and the current one with some changes. Hope you guys enjoy, and let me know if you have any questions!

What is the difference and pros/cons of ice shot vs lightning arrow?

    Posted: 23 Jan 2022 06:49 AM PST

I really want to roll one of these but the builds seem very similar. I even see lightning arrow running herald of ice. Do both builds get nice screen pops? Also is it a terrible idea to league start one of them?

5.5 Mil Dual Binos Spectral Helix Assassin (Starter?)

    Posted: 22 Jan 2022 01:59 PM PST

Theorycrafted a Poison build centered around Binos for prolif, elusive stacking for efficient dps scaling and assassin to complement both the efficient poison scaling and the elusive effect.

This is not the absolute starter setup, more the red map follow up version.

League start would likely include sword mastery for frenzy instead of redeemer chest, no thread of hope and rare jewels but instead crit grand spectrum, dropping some crit nodes in order to fund the pathing to the ranger life nodes.

    https://pastebin.com/9AJEuu02

Things I don't know how they turn out: mana sustain (especially pre thread of hope), general survivability, helix playstyle without any projectile speed

Thinking of these builds for 3.17. Input appreciated.

    Posted: 23 Jan 2022 02:16 PM PST

Ok so I would like to grind currency and eventually get to play either an Int stacker wander (perhaps even flicker but idk how I'd like that) or a spark aurastacker (legit my favorite build since I played it in heist, I also loved empy's wander version from delirium). But of course I need something to start with that can gather currency fast. So I was thinking of a KB wander but unsure which. There is the cf KB glad with bleed explosions which cutedog talked very highly of, he even said it was amazing to play even tho he forgot to get the bleed explosion ascendancy until he noticed at lvl 96 or something like that). There is also either pure lightning KB or trinity KB which looks pretty strong but I've never messed with trinity so idk what to do.

Other than that I'm not sure if I can just play self cast spark (and have it do what I need) and just slowly transition into aurastacker.

Then there is the question of the ascendancy for the int stacker. Occy or deadeye?

OH! I forgot one of the choices I was thinking of! It was a rage vortex berserker! But I've never played it so idk how the league start would feel.

Freezing pulse or holy flame totems?

    Posted: 23 Jan 2022 07:18 AM PST

For league starting a templar (patch notes dependant,) what makes more sense if the end goal is str stacking shrapnel ballista? Do holy flames until maps for farming up some exalts before respeccing, or holy flames until act 5 and going fp? I think fp is better but I'd have to grab a soul mantle and kikazaru ring.

Carrion Golem leaguestart to endgame in 2 weeks, Necromancer or Elementalist?

    Posted: 22 Jan 2022 11:31 AM PST

As title, I have very little time to play next league so I hope to clear endgame in less than 2 weeks if possible ( to the first 2 uncharted invitations). Assuming nothing is changed, which ascendancy and budget gear should I build? Any POB to consult would be very much appreciated.

    How to avoid getting one-shotted?

    Posted: 23 Jan 2022 07:48 AM PST

    Hi,

This is the first time I have gotten a character above lvl 90. It is a cyclone build that I am trying to optimize for delve, as that is my favourite mechanic of the game. I am at the stage where I can clear depth 150 quite comfortably, but anything deeper than that makes me die very often. I often then get frozen and die in an instant.

I have seen the video of Engineering Eternity on layering defenses, but I am struggling to apply that to real life. I have already changed some items to make my character more defensive (by increasing especially life and armour), but I am at a stage where I literally do not know how to get more defenses without bricking my character completely.

All elemental resistances are above 71, I know that this is my first thing I can improve, but I can't imagine that 4% makes me die so often. (Sidenote: for some reason PoB is adding -15% to my elemental resistances see proof, why is this the case? I haven't changed anything in PoB's config.) Next to this I have 9234 armour (without flasks) and 5651 life.

When looking at my build, which items could be most improved? Or should I completely change my skilltree to incorporate more defenses into my build?

    PoB pastebin: https://pastebin.com/WcWuCa7H

    Thanks in advance!

EDIT: Fixed the resistance issue, had the wrong bandit selected.

[Advice Request] Level 14 needing a push in the right direction

    Posted: 22 Jan 2022 06:22 PM PST

    https://imgur.com/a/F0bl7Cu

Hi, I recently started the game, on a standard run. First character is a duelist, level 14, name of Pro_Bullet. I'm at a point where I have a bunch of questions all adding up to a heap of confusion, and the more videos and guides I consume the more muddied it gets. I've downloaded Path of Builder. Would appreciate some basic answers to some basic questions.

    1. The playstyle I'm aiming for is a physical damage, life leech caster. I've built up to Vitality Void and Vaal Pact, but see #2 for problems.

    2. After assigning Vaal Pact, life leech is not working. That is, I am simply unable to steal life anymore. Idk if this is a bug or I'm doing something wrong. I've experimented with melee and skills, and for the life of me there is not a single thing I do that allows me to leech life upon dealing damage. This was working before assigning Vaal Pact. Is there something I'm overlooking?

    3. What weapons does this build that I want use? Do I use dual-wield swords? Claws? Bow? Why or why not? (It seems like any physical damage of swords is a waste since I'm barely melee attacking, just running around pressing Q-Splitting Steel. And I learned that physical damage of weapons is only local to those weapons, not abilities. Are melee weapons a waste? Should I look to get more melee abilities?)

    4. How should I think about gems at this point? The main skill I use is Splitting Steel with Volley Support. Gems will guide the playstyle that I want, so should I aim for certain ones?

    5. How should I think about DEX/STR/INT? It seems like I'm firmly into dexterity with this build, so should I branch off towards intelligence or strength? Why or why not?

Thanks guys, as you can see, I'm approaching this with a feel of a playstyle that I want, and trying to build towards there. In my head, this synergy between attack damage spells and life leech seems to work, so I hope I'm at least on track somewhere. Just looking to do something fun, not competitive. Feel free to ask questions, I'll be answering.

Anyone know any good Storm Rain builds?

    Posted: 22 Jan 2022 07:23 PM PST

So I been hyped about this skill ever since it came out but it seemed underwhelming in the community. I only found 32 people on PoE ninja playing it. Top dps is about 200k but I am guessing that's just one link so I would assume 10 links would be 2 mil dps?

I'm done with league and bored so wanted to try the skill out and just seeing if anyone has suggestions

    Thanks in advance!

    Questions about Reaper Builds.

    Posted: 23 Jan 2022 12:42 AM PST

So I've found a couple reaper builds, and I'm fairly new to the game still. Only about 300 hours or so, some of the reaper builds have used other minions, and another only uses skitterbots with it. The one I've been doing while leveling is zombies, and now animate weapon, with blade fall. However it seems to be more of a pain to use, why would someone use animate weapon over skeletons. Or zombies, and specters with the reaper? Also any other reaper suggestions or tips would be appreciated. Really liking this skill, and plan to keep messing with it. Thanks for reading.

    Crystallised Omniscience Theorycrafting

    Posted: 22 Jan 2022 09:51 AM PST

Hey guys, I'm searching for some ideas for the new amulet, Crystallised Omniscience.

Here's a link to the item.

And here's my attempt at the PoB mock-up of the item:

    Crystallised Omniscience
    Onyx Amulet
    LevelReq: 61
    Implicits: 1
    +16 to All Attributes
+1% to Elemental Resistance per 10 Dexterity
+1% to Elemental Resistance per 10 Strength
+1% to Elemental Resistance per 10 Intelligence
Penetrate 1% elemental resistances per 10 Strength
Penetrate 1% elemental resistances per 10 Dexterity
Penetrate 1% elemental resistances per 10 Intelligence
Gain no inherent bonuses from Strength
Gain no inherent bonuses from Dexterity
Gain no inherent bonuses from Intelligence

I assume natural synergies involve Brass Dome(since you already no longer gain bonus from strength), edit: Kaom's Heart (since life is gonna be struggle with base asttributes), Black Sun Crest( up to 45% increase to Omniscience); items to build around appear to be Hand of Wisdom And Action (Up to 24% Omniscience) and Hyrri's Demise(only item I believe that scales with all 3 attributes)

The downside of having no bonuses outside the base is really punishing, making CI builds really difficult. IMO, a dex-based melee build that runs Shaper's Touch or/and Fractal Thoughts or/and Garukhan's Flight appears to be the best way around this. Thoughts?

    League Starting Ice Shot/Barrage Tips

    Posted: 22 Jan 2022 08:11 PM PST

I have typically gone with the basic league starters, Minions, Cyclone Slayer back in the day, Totems, Shield throw.

The last few weeks I decided to play around with Ice Shot Deadeye and Im in love with it. The shatters the clear chefs kiss.

Planning on league starting it for 3.17 pending game changing patch notes. I know it is supposed to be an annoying league start so those who have done in the past, do you guys have any tips? My main concern it going to be doing getting the early watchstones since the single target felt kinda meh until I threw on a Voidfletcher.

My current plan is to level and enter maps with Rain of Arrows until I could get the gear to make Ice Shot + Barrage feel smooth.

3.17 is almost here, so it's time to empty out those 3.16 PoB draft folders. Show off your favorite half baked half assed ideas that you wanted to make it work, but just never found the time to level it

    Posted: 21 Jan 2022 01:56 PM PST

    A few of mine:

    2h sword Viper Strike: https://pastebin.com/NWK6ZPGB
The idea was to take advantage of the poisons you inflict on non-poisoned enemies deal 300% increased damage mastery and a big slow weapon to inflict fat long duration poisons up front, and let Pathfinder poison proliferation do the rest. Actual build would use an Elder influenced Vaal Greatsword for good poison mods instead of Starforge, but hey, it's a half assed build for a reason. Properly crafted items are for optimized builds, not early drafts.

    Fanaticism Stormslinger Inquisitor: https://pastebin.com/ac9PfY1x
It's just like the build that used to use Tempest Shield spam to rapidly trigger Orb of Storms, but using a Fanaticism-boosted Crackling Lance instead. If most of the trash clear can be done with Inpulsa's and Spellslung Orb of Storms (+1 chain for clear, thanks masteries!), Fanaticism should be up most of the time when it's time to properly nuke something with Crackling Lance. I think if they don't nuke reservation efficiency or Inquisitor regen I might actually try this one next league.

Hi, I played this like 2 leagues ago and had an easy to follow trickster build but I'm struggling to find something similar? I just want to obital strike people ...

    Some questions -

Elementalist vs Occultist, what are the major differences?

What's the deal with multiple curses?

    • Triggered ones don't stack doom?
    • Or Bane and triggered don't stack?
    • So, it's only manual cast curses that stack doom?

Any must have pieces of gear?

    • I see blackflame come up a lot but I'm not entirely sure why?
    • I see staff over shield etc? Is it just for the uniques with extra fire damage?

Any thing else that's critical to know? Or good examples?
