What is the tankiest starter build that can still clear the content?

    Posted: 02 May 2022 11:49 PM PDT

My least favorite thing about the game is doing well for most of my leveling and atlas progression and then dying a lot in T16 maps/harder content.

What are you guys favorite super tanky/unkillable builds?

Tatiantel2's Ball Lightning totem, anyone tried them recently?

    Posted: 02 May 2022 08:49 PM PDT

As title, I was looking for an interesting totem build for starter and someone suggested this build (the video has like 3 builds in there). I was wondering if anyone has experience with BL one in the past as it still utilizes mana-based skills, which I thought was dead.

I'd also appreciate it if anyone can comment on the other two totem builds (Flameblast and Storm Burst) as well, how invitation-viable are they, etc..

Incinerate Chieftain, my Backup League Starter for 3.18

Incinerate Chieftain, my Backup League Starter for 3.18

I already created a Dominating Blow & Herald of Purity Guardian for 3.18 as my League Starter. To be on the safe side against any maybe happening Nerfs, I created this Backup.

The Incinerate Chieftain is a bit better on Clear, but a bit worse on Bossing. It isn't as suitable for SSF as the Guardian bit still very usable as a League Starter in a Trade League Environment. As the League is ending, I was only able to buy a 6-link Brass Dome with suitable Colours that is why I am using a 6-link and not a 5-link. I kept "Ignite Proliferation" in during the Boss Fights to compensate a bit for having a 6-link which is unlikely during a League Start.

This is the PoB for the Char I used to record the Footage:https://pobb.in/iTlXLPby34Mx

    This is the Guide's PoB:

And this is the Link to my YouTube Guide for the Incinerate Chieftain:

As always I'd appreciate any Feedback and constructive Criticism.

P.S.: For the Dude that will tell me that 3.7 k Life is way to low for HC checkout this Screenshot, and keep in Mind that i tested a lot in the Manner "can i survive that if i stand still?".

Screen clear melee skills that can use a sword?

    Posted: 02 May 2022 11:59 AM PDT

without making a very long post, im thinking about testing some melee skills in a sort of headhunter speed build fashion where most of the damage comes from buffs

what skill options are there actually that have fairly good melee screen clear? I like lightning strike but id rather a skill that hits targets behind the player not a cone shaped skill

im definitely not doing any cyclone or generals cry stuff , though objectively cyclone generals cry would probably be the best candidate

    Fast map clear league starter?

I know phys trapper, EA, and skele mage are all good league start bossers, but what are the fastest map clear league start builds? Bonus points if witch or templar.

Dominating Blow League Start Build Guide for 3.18

    Posted: 02 May 2022 04:12 PM PDT

Obvious Disclaimer: All things in the guide are subject to change via buffs/nerfs in the official 3.18 patch. If this happens, the build guide/video will be updated accordingly.

Wasn't going to post this on the reddit, but I see a lot of people asking about Minion builds so I figured I'd throw my first fully produced offering into the ring.

Very budget friendly build, and feels significantly more "active" than most minion builds (practically a melee build).

First of all, PoB : https://pobb.in/rM3KNsUVdczG

    Video Link : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6hOdHhlhsaQ

Build has been tested recently in a SSF fresh start environment (livestreamed and archived on the youtube channel for anyone who cares). 0 to Maps in 6 hours, very comfortable. Unoptimized but higher level clears included in the video.

High defenses (Determination, Molten Shell, etc), High Elemental Resistance (81% Max Res from tree alone), Pantheon + skill tree used to achieve Chill, Shock, and Freeze Immunity.

High gear flexibility. Main weapon is pretty restrictive, but easy to craft with easily made budget options on the way.

Explanation on how to get to level 28 included in video; build starts using Dominating Blow as soon as you acquire it.

So who wants to talk about league starter minion builds?

    Posted: 02 May 2022 08:41 AM PDT

It's been years since I last played a minion build but right now minions are my #1 choice for the upcoming league since I have fond memories of the last one I played. There has been a lot of changes to minion related things and a lot of new additions since I last played around with them. I have kept up with exactly none of these things other than seeing some people mention certain builds.

I know there's plenty of people on this sub that have started with minion builds recently so I'd love to know more about how your journey went and what you thought the pros and cons of the build were as you were playing it. I find that a lot of build guides focus on levelling/tier 1 maps and then how it does in tier 16 and vs end game while not talking about how the build feels to play in yellow/early red maps. I'm interested in how smooth your levelling was (Pretty sure it's fantastic for most minion builds) and what skills etc you used but also how comfortable it felt in between gear upgrades during mapping. Did you ever feel like you were falling behind in power or that you didn't spend enough on certain pieces of gear? What was the strong point of your build and what was the weak point? If GGG was going to nerf that build for the upcoming league, what would they do to it and similar for buffing it? Would you recommend that build over a different minion build you might have played?

Here's a list of builds I've heard about, can you tell me anything about them?

Skele Mages - These seem to be the most popular by far, is it likely to get some sort of nerf? Otherwise sounds like it would be a pretty fun build.

Absolution - I know nothing about this skill other than people play it with Doryani's Prototype. A quick look at the wiki suggests it's like Dominating Blow but lightning and they have a shorter duration?

Spectres - Are slave drivers still the meta? Not that I ever played them but I had a few people back in the day tell me that I needed to play Slave Drivers at some point because their single target was so strong. The only spectres I've used (as a main skill) is the super old school burning ones and Frost Sentinels.

Golems - How are Golem builds looking these days? What's the top dog and how far behind is second place? I'm aware there were popular ones before but Carrion is the only one I really hear about and usually it's some sort of stacking build. Is there a variation that works from league start to that point?

Zombies - Haven't heard much noise about Zombies since something got nerfed. What's the deal?

Holy Relic - One that I've seen pop up here and there, how does it go as a starter build?

Dominating Blow - I'll always see someone saying they are starting with Dom Blow so I assume it's a safe bet?

Herald of Purity - Is it still good, is there any reason to play it over something else?

Popcorn - Seems to be very niche from how I hear it mentioned but like with Dom Blow I always see it being talked about. What's the best way to play it?

Summon Raging Spirits - Constantly the least talked about minion skill, does anyone play it non popcorn?

Soulwrest - This was all the rage a few leagues back but seems to have disappeared.

Animate Weapon - I thought about playing this when it got buffed but heard a lot about it being clunky or awkward.

Dancing Dervish - Never really interested me but I did see a few videos about it pop up

Herald of Agony - Jugg was the way to go the last time I heard about this build. Has that changed at all?

Does Spiders count? - Bit of a silly reason but the way they are summoned always made me choose to play something else.

Melee Skeletons - One of my favorite builds used cold conversion skeletons for single target damage and it was amazing. Has anyone played something like this recently?

I'm really just after some 'real world' thoughts about all the different minion builds since I feel like a lot of guide creators want everyone to be talking about their build so they will undersell and oversell certain parts of their build to make it more appealing to play. Do you have a minion build that I didn't mention? I'd love to hear about that too since I'm open to playing pretty much anything minion related I'm just trying to find what one I think is best for me.

Need help with getting more tankiness with VG Assassin

    Posted: 03 May 2022 01:13 AM PDT

    Heyo!

I've decided to give my favourite skill a new try along with some old favourites (Perfect Agony) and spent hour or 2 in PoB and managed to get damage numbers to substantial level but it is still kinda weird mix of hit+poison.

I'd feel this would be enough to map fast, but after the removal of dodge i just can't seem to get survivability levels (on right side of passive tree) to the point where i would feel ok even bossing with it.

Anyone know some tricks for this sort of build other than "remove dmg node, pick %health node"?

    Thanks for your time beforehand.

What's the best starter build with shatters?

    Posted: 02 May 2022 01:36 PM PDT

Over the years I've gravitated more towards phys builds and now I'm out of the loop on some nice shatters, Herald of Ice preferably included though not necessary.

Anything I try to cook up in PoB with ice bite and frenzy stacking ends up at like 200k dsp with gear which is abysmal, is that the price to pay or do I just suck?

Suggestions for 3.18 league start mapper

    Posted: 02 May 2022 06:01 AM PDT

    Yo

So I always end up starting with a build that is bossing focused and for various reasons I want to switch it up and start the league with a mapper.

Requirements are: League start viable, so obviously something that doesn't require a headhunter to work

    Fast mapping

Progressive scaling with a high ceiling With enough investment, be able to do juiced t16 deli maps

No RF and ideally no minions. Wanting to hear ANY other suggestions that fit the build.

    Many thanks in advance

    Help with "Giga-Inquis" Final Touches

    Posted: 02 May 2022 03:27 PM PDT

I'm an inquis diehard, and forbidden jewels opened up a new world of possibilities this league so I decided to go petrified blood + radiant faith. Then, when ele damage was still killing me, I crammed melding + aegis in, and now as I look for ways to get that last bit of durability for simul 30 I realize I've made an offbrand version of the captainlance giga-guardian.

    https://pastebin.com/G95fntH7

    Pros of inquis over guardian:

-no mods can break our flask unlike coruscating setups

-inevitable judgment + righteous providence makes lower investment and split damage types easier to handle

-not ivory tower reliant, usable with eldritch or conq influenced chests or other unique (ie my str stacker couldn't work there but this build fits iron fortress easily)

-overleech + aegis + pious path is silly

    -righteous providence jewels are EXPENSIVE

    Cons of inquis:

-not stupid tanky, "only" 50k flaskless armor

-less free resists (this is a bigger issue than it seems)

    -less aura synergy

-more detrimental map mods (notably can't leech / reduced regen)

While I'm thoroughly enjoying it, I've hit a wall on gearing and squeezing out the last of the resists I need even with a bismuth rainbow flask always on. Is there any glaring upgrades to be made or tree reworking that could get this build past scorch and phys as chaos mods in simul, maybe something clever to do with the last jewel slot available on my 2nd large cluster? One thing I've tried is fitting cloister via timeless jewel, and thus far I have not succeeded but I'm sure there's a way.

Hipster Nonsense Builds! Give them to me.

    Posted: 02 May 2022 12:45 AM PDT

Alright you legends, we're approaching league start once again and I've made a thread like this a few times now, so share with me some dumb hipster nonsense that you played this league (that worked) or you plan to play in Sentinel!

I played a hit based Arma Brand inquis with the forbidden jewels for brand ascendancy from Heiro. Managed to do all but Maven (because I'm terrible at memory games). It was super fun.

    New league, new life

    Posted: 02 May 2022 05:18 AM PDT

I took last league off to take care of a few things, but I'm looking to come back for Sentinel. I just have a few build questions that could use some help.

I'm looking to either go with hexblast ignite (elementalist to occultist after chaos ring), or absolution necro that maybe transitions to skeleton mages.

I noticed the initial hit on hexblast got a buff last league. Was it enough to feel better on bosses?

I never played absolution but I've had plenty of minion builds, so I'm ok with that play style. Is it tanky? How is the bossing/clear?

    Thanks!

    Flicker Strike build recommendation

    Posted: 02 May 2022 03:18 PM PDT

I'm inspired to play flicker strike next league and I'm trying to find a good guide for the build. However most guides seem old and outdated. Can anyone link me to a guide or content creator that has currently relevant flicker strike content?

Also, is flicker strike viable to be leveling with or should it only be my 2nd build of a league?

    Uber lab runner?

    Posted: 02 May 2022 11:11 AM PDT

I'd love my leaguestarter to simply be able to run uber lab, maybe even carry a couple people (not a whole party).

I want it to be quick, affordable, and able to take a lot of pain from traps because I suck at the whole platformer aspect of uber lab.

I don't care what ascendency or skill, but preferably not traps or mines.

    Suggestions?

Good minion build to think about potential 3.18 League starter? Good Bossing is a must.

    Posted: 02 May 2022 02:17 PM PDT

Looking to have a good bosser as my league starter as I've felt my smoothest league starts were good bossing builds (3.15 Freezing Pulse Hierophant & 3.17 Iron Commander Hierophant). Figured I'd change it up a bit as I haven't played a minion build since Harvest with Redemption Sentry Spectres.

I'm unsure what builds are good right now, doesn't have to be the most top meta build just something that will feel good. Having clear that doesn't feel awful is also a must, doesn't need to be flicker strike levels of clear but I'd like to be able to clear a map relatively quick.

I was maybe leaning Absolution as I played that in Endless delve and it was fun but I'm unsure how it would feel in a regular mapping/bossing scenario.

Build guides or videos appreciated but not mandatory.

Also, goes without saying but obviously I'm aware no patch notes yet, I'm just looking for inspiration.

**IMPORTANT: Do not recommend Skeleton Mages or Carrion Golems please.**

CoC ice spear vs FR help

    Posted: 02 May 2022 02:12 PM PDT

    Good afternoon guys!

I played CoC for my first time this league and I chose to go CoC FR - I fuckin love it. I wanna make another CoC build next league and I'm torn between FR again or trying another skill like Ice Spear. Preferably from people who have played both: what are the differences in playstyle, damage, tankiness, and cost? Are there any additional pitfalls to watch out for when going ice spear?

Currently planning on starting EA elementalist and transitioning into CoC like week 2 or 3 after I can get a MB.

    Levelling CF Glad Question

    Posted: 02 May 2022 08:57 AM PDT

Thinking of playing ruetoo CF Glad on leaguestart, checking out his guide doc and looking at the levelling process. He seems to switch from helix to spellslinger quite early, just wondering if it's easier to just stick to helix until later. Is it omega scuffed when you switch or is it decent enough that I can ditch helix? Or is it a better idea to just use helix until some gems are leveled?
