Bringing Mjolner Back! BL/SN CoC Assassin

    Posted: 09 Jul 2019 09:04 PM PDT

    Hey Everyone,

Wanted to post this build - I've always loved mjolner and wanted to make it work, so wanted to try a CoC build that could do all content. Some key updates to come out to help are the change to cyclone and the maraketh jewel. Having beaten Uber elder and cleared dozens of T15-16 Legions and stayed in Delve darkness for minutes at a time, I can highly recommend this build for people who want something that's really fun, really effective and a little different.

Key build concept: abuse ball lightning+volkurs guidance and assassins Noxious Strike ascendancy to instantly get +4% base crit chance for everything.

Also, the new shock nova is AMAZING. Not old Arc amazing, but really strong and looks incredible to boot.

Pros: Incredible clear. Shock Nova just hits everything, and you look to scale aoe since aoe increases Ball Lightning single target dps also

Great single target - phase Shaper, kill all T15 bosses in under 1/2 second. My calculations show around 3-5M dps

Flexibility between shocking bosses and freezing packs. After playing phys cyclone, I never want to not have freeze again. With a quick mjolner weapon swap you go from big aoe cold dmg shock nova to a smaller big dmg shocking shock nova

Good survivability. Vitality Watchers Eye for 30 life a hit with 7 ball Lightning's a second hits 70 times with cyclone and shock nova, so for a single target that's 2100 life/second instantly, unlike leech. You are invulnerable to big packs unless they oneshot you, as evidenced by the fact I can stay in 200+ delves in the dark for as long as I want - basically old Vaal pact

On that one, might be one of the best deep delvers out there outside of jugg. Similar lgoh as the old MS Jugg, but this time with phasing, stun immunity and freezing. Obviously don't have all their defense though.

Also the build is relatively cheap, given all the melee builds out there.

Cons: While the instant life gain is awesome, the build only gets about 7k life, 6.5k with Devoto's. Which is not bad, but doesn't really have layers of defenses like juggs or tricksters

Doesn't get perma fortify like melee phys builds - you have to shield charge like the good ole days. Thankfully they've made shield charge feel better.

Ascendancy: Assassin. Get the power charges one for +2 crit, noxious strike for another 2 crit. With the Maraketh jewel you have 11.25% base crit with mjolner...this is how you get CoC Mjolner to work.

Last points get opportunistic. Well actually get it sooner since the movement speed is super important for cyclone. The single target boost in increased dmg is nice too.

I went power charge -> power charge -> opportunistic -> noxious strike

    Equipment:

Weapon: Mjolner. You could also use a fancy CoC sword, but when I run the calcs they're pretty similar in dps and you lack all the flexibility.

Shield - lycosidae. Nothing else comes that close

Helmet - devotos, or life/-res helmet, which are pretty easy to make. Devotos for mapping, but the helm adds like 500 life and 10% more dmg

Chest - active gem shaper chest with some life is probably the best. The active gem thing is nice but only like 10% more damage. I guess the best chest would be a double corrupted one - that would be huge. Impulsa's is ok too

    Gloves - volkuurs ofc

Historic jewel - maraketh, the one that gives +25% crit chance. It doesn't give normal melee builds that much dmg but for CoC it's critical. Lycosidae negates the blind

Boots - MS, strength, res, life, Cooldown recovery

Amulet - strength, life, attack speed, crit multiplier

Rings - mark of the shaper is like 20% more dmg and is so cheap now. The other one should have strength, res, life, attack speed

Belt - CDR, strength, life, res

Jewels - watchers eye: vitality life gain on hit and wrath/zealotry penetration, strength if you need, life, crit multi

    Gems:

In Mjolner 1: shock nova, inc aoe, added cold damage - mapping setup since corpses are an absolute pain and the aoe is enormous

In Mjolner 2: shock nova, lightning pen, controlled destruction - boss setup by pressing 'x' - for the shocks

In chest: cyclone - cast on crit - ball lightning - slower projectiles - increased crit strikes - elemental focus

Steelskin - inc duration, ancestral protector, blood rage

Cast when dmg taken - wave of conviction - purifying flame

Shield charge - faster attacks - fortify

    Wrath/zealotry, vitality, blood and sand

    Leveling:

Surprisingly you can level with CoC starting at level 38 and it is very effective. Grab a Brutus lead sprinkler or any fast, high crit weapon and get the maraketh jewel early.

Level with freezing pulse, spark or lightning tendrils until arc, and then level with that until shock nova, until cast on crit

Once you get to 60, put on all the str gear you can and put on Thor's hammer and swap your shock nova in there, and ball lightning in your main. Have fun!

    Delving builds for SC?

    Posted: 09 Jul 2019 03:34 PM PDT

Currently looking for Delving builds. My current build just can't stay alive in 250+ depths.. which is why I've just decided to reroll to something else.

I do have multi crafted cold dmg bow, but not sure how bow builds do in delves.

Suggestions on what builds you think that do well in delve?

    Budget: 8 ex~

Looking for inspiratiebron for a Baron Summoner build

    Posted: 10 Jul 2019 02:47 AM PDT

I've been looking around but can't seem to find alot about interesting Baron builds... There's alot of seemingly 'unoptimized' guides out there but other than that, seems like it's not that popular... Is that Because it's just not good? Does it scale badly into endgame?

I'm interested in trying to build one I can take all the way up to Uber Elder, but also is a smooth, fun way (for me That's minimal clunkyness and at least ok speed) to play the game...

Basic concepts I have picked up rn are: -2x Violent dead jewels + multistrike= Perma zombie slams - Vaal Summon skellies for single target - get beefy with 1k+ strength and a bunch of life

What I'm unsure about is: how to further boost Minions damage? Go pure phys with brutality? Or Elemental? In both cases: which aura's? Is Montegrul's Grasp BiS here or maybe another weapon with temple mods?

Any other crazy good synergies I'm overlooking (it's been ages since I played a summoner)

Any feedback, info or inspiration greatly appreciated!

Best ascendancy for Phys Bow in SSF

    Posted: 10 Jul 2019 01:29 AM PDT

Title says it all. Dont have windripper, dont have great mf gear. I like shattering stuff with a bow.

Since 3.7 I see more viable options for bow builds, since duelist got some nice changes.

So what would you say is best without gg gear to have a good shot at endgame:

Slayer - can make any bow crit and has cull - can go impale even though champion has the edge there

Champion - good dmg with impale - fortify

Deadeye - free chain - maybe too squishy?

And to add to that, would I be best off going phys or ele and conversion?

Happy for any suggestions and experience Cheers

Pathfinder, nature's reprisal : how does it work ?

    Posted: 10 Jul 2019 02:09 AM PDT

    Hello,

I have few questions about that ascendancy, Nature's reprisal, especially the prolif part :

    - What's the base range of the prolif, I saw somewhere it's like 15-20 units, but no idea if it's that ?

    - Is it possible to scale it with global range (from tree, gears, etc) ?

    - If there is 3 enemies , both die from poison, if the last one is in range, does it take one or two stacks of poison ?

    Ty for your answers.

    MF Tornado Shot build help!

    Posted: 10 Jul 2019 02:00 AM PDT

Hey guys, I've been trying to make a MF Tornado Shot Deadeye build to better farm Glacier Monoliths. I currently am using Cyclone Slayer, but I am missing so many monsters due to the time restriction and the clear speed of my Cyclone. That is why I am trying to get the TS build usable. My question is, what items are an absolute must to make farming efficient, or at least better than my Cyclone? I only have about 6ex to my name as of right now. I would just like to farm monoliths better to get more currency to get all the required items eventually on the TS build. Thanks!

Dual Hyaon's Fury Lightning Strike on a raider - is it doable?

    Posted: 10 Jul 2019 01:41 AM PDT

The rough concept was dual wielding Hyaon's Fury using Lightning Strike to keep shock up and clear packs quickly.

The tree was to use Arcing Blows, Primeval force and Forces of nature, along with sword nodes and dual wield nodes to scale elemental damage. And some projectiles nodes to make sure we have good pack clear.

For ascendancies we take Avatar of the slaughter to easily generate frenzy charges. and after that either Avatar of the chase for maximum dps, or Avatar of the veil if we feel like we need the immunity from elemental ailments.

The problem, having made it into maps, is that the build as it stands feels sluggish, frail, and frankly kind of weak. Magic packs take at least a few attacks to clear, and tougher rares often take several using dual strike for better single target dps.

So, is the core concept even doable on a raider? The issue I'm running into (aside from sluggishness and frailty), is that it requires high amounts of intelligence and strength. Strength to run the swords and the red gems, and intelligence for the blue gems (Wrath and Herald of Thunder).

I thought this build would be relatively easy to make, as I've made a frost blades raider in a previous league with some success, but clearly not.

Is the problem that Hyaon's is just too slow, and requires too much strength? That the increased damage taken per frenzy is too debilitating? Is the issue the pathing up to Arcing blows? Do I just need more attack speed and attributes on my gear? Or is the entire tree just garbage? I'm pretty new at making my own builds, so any help is much appreciated.

Pastebin for target build with mockup gear: https://pastebin.com/7wywad4N

(Neither the current nor the target build have CWDT-defenses set up, so just assume they will be a factor)

    Berserker, rage and 2 handers

    Posted: 09 Jul 2019 08:36 PM PDT

Does anyone else feel that berserker rage generation feels bad as a 2 hander? Am I being restricted to 1 hander choices?

Perhaps apart from using a rage support gem can anyone suggest a good 2 hander build to generate and sustain rage? Would muktistrike solve my problems?

Advice on improving survivability CWC Cyclone Spark

    Posted: 09 Jul 2019 05:43 PM PDT

I have been having a ton of fun with this build but I keep getting one shot by legion rares mostly. I recently swapped from having a couple damage auras to MOM to help improve the situation. It helped a little but not nearly as much as I would like. I also have not been able to imprint my staff because the one time I tried, I died and I don't feel like wasting an ex on it just to die again.

I have a hard time giving up anything since things like Devoto's and Rampage feel really nice. Not sure where to invest either. I have 18 ex (had an inspired drop) but don't want to spend it all if I don't have to.

POB note: Not sure why POB says I don't have capped cold res, in game it is capped. Actual res:

    Fire: 107

    Cold: 78

    Lightning: 115

    Chaos: -7

    Necromancer Help

Heavy Strike Slayer - Kills good, dies bad.

    Posted: 09 Jul 2019 10:04 AM PDT

6000 Life, 4000 Armor in hideout / 15000 with flasks, 3000 Evasion, All resistances 75%+/105+ with flasks (Chaos -20%).

Based off of this build. Slowly working toward Starforge to replace Kondo's Pride. Having much difficulty completing red maps and gaining any XP or Currency to continue toward these goals. Oftentimes it feels like CWDT does nothing, even when trying each different guard skill (Yes, CWDT is high enough level to support the spells its linked to.) Either I leapslam into packs and explode whole screens as seen in the build guide videos, or im dead in the air before I can land and swing, or worse, Ive landed, gained fortify, and either miss a hit I shouldn't according to tooltips, or die during the swing animation before it connects. Spending currency on minor upgrades seems wasteful and takes away from working toward Starforge. Current gear doesn't look awful on paper. Spending currency on XP runs also seems wasteful, when I could simply figure out how to stop dying 2-3x per map and actually gain XP and currency at a decent and consistent rate. Any insight is greatly appreciated.

    Need some suggestions on CI

    Posted: 09 Jul 2019 05:00 AM PDT

Hi! I just got myself a 6L Vaal Regalia with 647 ES, and I want to use it for my first CI build ever.

I've played only Life / EB-MoM builds, so I never really touched pure ES. I want to Delve a lot and have decent clearspeed, what would you suggest outside of ED Contagion?

My budget is 3ex, but can make it 4 if needed.

    Help with Wander survivability

    Posted: 09 Jul 2019 06:51 AM PDT

    Hello,

I am currently playing alvl83 deadeye wander. I am dying a bit too much for my taste. I always die by Chaos Damage, Vaal legion people with that red wave crap, projectiles and stuns. I am using a bunch of MF gear (and would like to continue to use MF gear).

    My Build Pastebin: https://pastebin.com/8AkMJD5x

    My Build Tree: http://poeurl.com/cvPU

    • The maps that I run are Toxic Sewers, Waste Pool, Glacial, etc. Good for wall bags and quick clears.
    • 1 potential fix that would cost a bunch of exalts, is using a really dope offhand evasion shield 1.3k evasion, high life, and resistance. This would allow me to drop Grace, and pick up Wrath for more DPS. But it won't aid necessarily in survivability.
    • Disclaimer: I am open to tree changes. My tree is set up for movement speed obviously.
    • Disclaimer: Please do not give me feedback like: Go tornado shot or reroll.
    • Disclaimer: My amulet is shit. I have been trying to buy a new one, but can't find one with the mods I want.
