The Road to Headhunter (A Detailed Report) - DAY FIFTEEN

    Posted: 31 Jul 2019 07:28 AM PDT

    (Yesterdays Post):

    https://www.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/cjt186/the_road_to_headhunter_a_detailed_report_day/

No video dairy today! Quite tired and have work very early in the morning. I'm gonna sleep soon.

However, I'd like to just do a small FAQ at the beginning of this, as yesterday there were a tonne of questions on the post that had already been answered in previous days, so instead of replying to a bunch of comments, I thought I would clear them up here.

Why are you farming maps? You can get a headhunter quicker just sitting in your hideout and flipping items.

The point of this challenge, and these posts, I will state again, is to explicitly show the kinds of profit you can do by minimally investing in running Monoliths. I'm not trying to say that this is the fastest way. It's a bit of fun, and it's informative.

Over a minute a map? I can run Glacier maps in 40 seconds.

Cool! But are you tallying in the time outside of maps, dumping everything into the stash, listing big items for sale, coming out of maps to sell every once in a while, rolling maps, etc? You'll notice that if you come watch me stream, I keep the timer rolling for ANYTHING that is based on the Monolith farming. If I'm meme-ing or doing extraneous things I will pause the timer, but apart from that, it stays a-running, baby.

Surely you can't have been selling everything you're picking up? No one is going to buy those smaller items.

Again, if you check the stream you will realise that I only pick up very specific things:

    Large and medium currency drops;

    Big ticket items; and

Anything that can be bulk sold.

I have not sold quite a fair bit of stuff, but when I do, that time will all be tallied in - and all of the stuff that needs selling is very easy to find buyers for if you are selling hundreds at a time (stacked decks, fragments, etc)

    Okay! Let's see some data.

    DAY FIFTEEN:

    ATOLL MAPS RUN: 100

TOTAL TIME TAKEN: 1 hour, 42 minutes, 08 seconds

AVERAGE PER MAP: 1 minute, 1 second (3 seconds faster than yesterday! Noice.)

    TOTAL PROFIT: 850.35 CHAOS

    PROFIT PER HOUR: 499.56 CHAOS

    PROFIT PER MAP: 8.5 CHAOS

    NOTABLE DROPS:

Exalted orb: 0 (still, an exalted has not dropped in Atoll, over 300 maps!)

    Stacked deck: 20

    Divine orb: 3

    Annulment orb: 0

    Maraketh Splinter: 42

    Might of the Meek: 1

    The Wind: 1

    SUMMARY:

Atoll. You are proving to be stubborn, unlucky, and frankly a bit of an RNG suck. No exalts in 300 maps? C'mon man, I thought we were better pals than that. However, you're still amazingly consistent! Around 500c today without any good big drops whatsoever? This is turning out to be a really good map to run. I only hope that my luck turns around and I start seeing some exalt drops so I can fully formulate some good data. But again, Atoll is looking sexy.

Also, below, we will start to see the data not change as much as it used to day-to-day in the grand totals - that's what happens when your sample size grows!

    GRAND TOTAL STATS:

    GRAND TOTAL MAPS RUN: 2300

    GRAND TOTAL PROFIT: 20607.5 CHAOS

GRAND TOTAL PROFIT PER MAP: 8.96 CHAOS (0.02 lower than yesterday, what a crazy drop...)

GRAND TOTAL TIME SPENT: 39 HOURS, 6 MINUTES (including selling and buying time)

GRAND TOTAL PROFIT PER HOUR: 527.04 CHAOS

GRAND TOTAL TIME PER MAP: 1 minute, 1.2 seconds (exactly the same as yesterday!)

    ------------

Chaos left until Headhunter Purchasable (according to Poe.Ninja as of 12:23am AEST, 1/08/19):

    4378.3 CHAOS

We are 359.55 chaos closer than we were yesterday. Headhunter did rise a bit, but it looks like it's very consistently going to be staying around the 140 ex mark for the next week or so.

ESTIMATED MAPS REMAINING: ~ 488 (40 less than yesterday)

ESTIMATED TIME REMAINING: 8 hours, 17 minutes, 46 seconds

    GETTING THERE. SO. SO. CLOSE.

Here's the Pastebin for my build!

    Make Labyrinth Great Again

    Posted: 30 Jul 2019 10:36 PM PDT

The majority of the player base is completely disconnected from Lab for good reason. There are no league mechanics, it punishes mistakes heavily, and it is simply old content that hasn't aged well. Below is a list of current problems that I believe need to be addressed for people to come back to farming it. GGG has already stated that they are changing past league mechanics, so hopefully Lab is on the list (link).

    For the sake of vocabulary:

    • Izaro's Treasure = chests at end of Lab ; requires Treasure Key
    • Curious Lockbox = chest always containing 1x Treasure Key
    • Labyrinth Trove = chest containing items similar to Izaro's Treasure

Edit 1: Added sections 4 and 5 based on feedback.

    1) Helmet enchants are a sore subject. There have been many reasonable suggestions:

    • Use Divine Vessels to store an enchant to be used later.
    • Add a "Pick 3" mechanic to choose an enchant (similar to unveiling).
    • Remove bad enchants.
    • Reduce OP enchants.

Currently, there are about ~540 helm enchants for both Merciless/Uber lab. It is no longer "reasonably" to farm a helm enchant for your build, which was the original design intention. Using a Divine Vessel gives them an extra use outside of filling out Pantheon optional mods and makes sense from a naming standpoint (both "Divine"). Furthermore, the Divine Vessel solves the problem of needing an enchant on a niche item.

Nerfing OP enchants may be controversial, but when only a few skills have enchants providing 30-40% more damage (Tornado Shot +2 Projectiles), it makes other enchants crap in comparison. Either all skills should have a rare enchant for such damage potential or none of them should.

    2) Past league items are not available in Labyrinth, yet have been a major focus in recent expansions.

    • Add the following to Izaro's Treasure: Scarabs, Essences, Fossils, Breach/Legion Fragments, Veiled items, Shaped/Elder items, ilvl 86 items
    • Boost drops from Labyrinth Trove's (includes changes to Izaro's Treasures).
    • Add current league items to Hidden Coffers/Chests.

Both the Labyrinth Trove and Hidden Coffer/Chests are sad to see. You open them to find maybe 2 rares... That may have been great back in 2.2.0, but it simply pathetic in today's standards.

    3) Fix/Remove the annoying stuff:

    • Remove blocking door traps... These are just infuriating!
    • Fix Izaro's phases not retreating after getting stunned (hopefully for all phased bosses).
    • Reward chests should not be placed against walls/debris. This causes pathing problems when clicking on drops.
    • Fix floor switches not engaging when clicked on (sometimes switches take multiple clicks to do anything).

    4) Trading while in Lab is a nightmare.

Nothing really anything to say here... By making a lab runner, you are isolating yourself while doing runs. People have 0 patience anymore and it is unlikely traders will wait 5-15 mins for you to finish a run just to buy 1 item. The only way I could see a to fix this would require an entire overhaul of the trade system in general, which we know isn't going to happen.

    5) Monster experience in Lab is non-existent. Some ideas:

    • Each phase of Izaro can increase the item level of the zones by 1 (all difficulties).
    • Killing Argus can increase the item level of the final zone by 1 (all difficulties ; very scary for non-lab runners)
    • Buff experience for current monsters in Lab and give more life to compensate.
    • Add random map modifiers to zones to give bonus quantity, rarity, and packsize (Uber lab only).
    • Add Darkshrine modifier that gives bonus experience for killing Izaro

Past the low 80's, mobs in Uber Lab give next to no experience considering it is a T8 map. There are low-lying fruits that can be done to ensure that runners gain experience for killing stuff if they so choose.

    Posted: 31 Jul 2019 08:01 AM PDT

Am I missing something or would impale support be really good for zombies, but as far as I can find I don't see anyone recommending it or using it on poeninja. Wouldn't it be better than maim support?

Bug when buying items/gems from a vendor?

    Posted: 31 Jul 2019 02:13 PM PDT

Whenever I try to buy a skill gem from any vendor it says "You don't have enough currency" even though I have enough. I need to go to my stash, check that I do have the alts/transmutes/whatever and then come back to the vendor, who then lets me buy whtaever i wanted. Anybody else facing this issue?

Why Legion is my personal favorite league of the all

    Posted: 31 Jul 2019 04:20 AM PDT

First of all, thanks GGG for making a league that can also be enjoyed without having to no-life it.

I like this league more compared to the others, because you have a simple mechanic, you can trade parts like the splitters and emblems.

The army fights are amazing too, since you can see your progress, like "how much can I clear between a 3 and a 4-way fight?".

I mean delve was also nice, but it would have been more nice if you could trade almost everything from that league, like sulphite and azurite.

And the first time, that drops really feel like you can progress with them.

I can farm for 2-3 hours and get 1 or 2 exalts. This is a totally new feeling, I never got this much and it really makes me go nuts.

I'm close to over 1.000 hours ingame time (total gametime, about 100-150 into legion), and always quit the league because I just wasn't getting any drops, like 1 exalt for playing a whole week, where I get now about 10ex for the same time.

I hope our future leagues are going to be even better, go for perfection GGG!

I have been trying to "buy" white sockets off trade 820 but no luck. Is there a way to efficiently (less than 2hours) farm it myself ?
