[Theory] Damage immunity through reduction effects

    Posted: 02 Aug 2019 01:24 PM PDT

This is another invulnerable build attempt, this time exploring reducing damage by 100% since it doesn't have a cap like resistances do.

Elemental immunity (DoT, secondary, or hit):

Here's the item requirements along with reasoning:

    • Gorgon's Gaze: 5% reduced elemental if stationary.

    • Wise Oak: 10% reduced elemental if all resistances match.

    • Unshattered Will: 20% reduced damage if using a channeled skill.

    • Conqueror's Potency: 8% flask effect

    • Shackles of the Wretched: To self-cast Temp Chains, which is required to maintain 100% uptime on Unshattered Will.

    • Belt with at least 8% flask effect.

This build requires either a Juggernaut or Trickster. Since Juggernaut is always immune and Trickster starts taking damage once Ghost Shrouds are consumed, I'll focus on that one. Here is a very basic/unoptimized tree.

I'll go through what passives are required:

    • (Juggernaut) Unbreakable: 5% reduced at all times.

    • (Juggernaut) Unrelenting: 8% reduced elemental when at max endurance charges.

    • One With The River: 5% reduced elemental when stationary.

    • Crystal Skin: 5% reduced elemental.

    • Bloodletting: 5% reduced from bleeding enemies.

    • Flask circle: 24% flask effect

    • All Fortify effect nodes: 60% increased effect of Fortify

    All of the above combines into 5 + (10 * 1.4 = 14) + 20 + 5 + 8 + 5 + 5 + 5, or 67% reduced elemental damage. Fortify is (20 * 1.6 = 32), which brings it to 99% reduced elemental damage. After that, all one needs is to get 10% flask effect, and Maraketh timeless jewels can provide 8% per node.

With 100% reduced elemental damage, it no longer matters what your resistances are (as long as they're all the same for Wise Oak), you don't take damage from fire, cold, or lightning.

    Chaos Immunity:

    CI is close enough.

    Physical Immunity (DoT only):

Ralakesh + Arakaali chosen in the pantheon. 30 (Pantheon) + 5 (Jugg) + 20 (Unshattered) + 30 (Fortify) + 10 (Force Shaper, near CI) + 5 (Bloodletting) = 100%. The drawback of this is you need to be moving to get the full pantheon benefit and it needs to be sourced to a creature that can bleed, or else it becomes drastically worse.

    Physical Immunity (Hit or Secondary)

The best I can currently conceive is Watcher's Eye (up to 36%) + Lightning Coil (30%, chest) + Taste of Hate (30% with 50% flask effect), combined with an 8% corruption on Unshattered Will. There's more than a 100% physical hit conversion and it doesn't overwrite anything else in the build, but you'd then need to get a crapload of fire and lightning resistance to balance out Wise Oak. Specifically, 75% fire resist and 135% lightning, assuming you've got exactly 50% flask effect.

The rings, amulet, boots, and 1H weapon slot are all open, and one could use a Topaz and Ruby flask to maintain balance with Taste of Hate, meaning equipment would only need to provide 60% lightning regardless of flask effect. One could also get a better Maraketh Jewel (one with at least 24% flask effect) and open up the belt slot for a potential HH, since that always works well with builds using Shackles.

    Conclusion:

Elemental immunity is feasible, but trying to make it also physical immune makes it costly as heck. Build cannot be immune to everything at the same time, but it can choose what it's immune to by moving or not moving. Even when moving, it's still more resistant than most builds.

I am not sure how likely this is to get nerfed, since it requires a very lucky Watcher's Eye.

Need help with my current build. 1H Cyclone Gladiator. Or a suggested better low budget build.

The Path of Building is completely up to date. Lvl 90 at the moment, but there is another skill tree showing what I plan to do with the last 10 skills points (if I get there).

    https://pastebin.com/VH2v0VHV

Right now I'm not too happy with the build. I just started playing the game again with the Legion expansion, after playing during the open beta phase years ago. I checked out a few suggested starter builds, found some I was "interested" in, and decided to make what I currently have now. I can complete a T15 map with one or two deaths, but it's a struggle DPS wise. I'm mainly dying because I don't know the bosses well enough.

I'm open to suggestions on what to change, whether it is passive tree or item related. I'm aware my items aren't looking good as I just started doing maps over the last week and started trading.

I also wouldn't mind playing a different build altogether if it is able to do all content fairly quickly. It would also have to be on a fairly low budget as I still have yet to find a single exalted over my 100+ hours of play. Haha

Any help would be appreciated as I didn't expect my first time making a build to go well in the first place. Thanks!

Anyone has a decent Divine Ire totem build that is cheap but can do all content?

Solar Guards & Zombies. This is my current skill tree: http://poeurl.com/cwZI

I've basically gotten everything I wanted at this point and am kinda lost on what to do with my last few points to squeeze the most out of this. Full current build here: https://pastebin.com/JhSezAiS.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Divine Ire Ignite Inquisitor - Hrimburn and Disintegrator?

    Posted: 02 Aug 2019 02:14 PM PDT

For the end of the League I've been fiddling around with trying out a Divine Ire ignite build as I've wanted to for quite some time now. I've got a lot of currency to spend so I am trying to see what is the best way I can possibly build this.

    https://pastebin.com/4hMhztaN

Right now my idea is using Hrimburn for 1.) Full Conversion and 2.) allowing me to make use of hatred and phys as extra cold on the Amulet slot.

Does that seem worth it? I am not sure about the defenses of the build or if other options are just better all around. Any feedback is appreciated :)

What's the most OP impale build?

    Posted: 02 Aug 2019 08:52 AM PDT

    Title.

With impale likely getting a nerf in 3.8, what's the best way to exploit it between now and the end of legion?

    Totems and/or Brands

    Posted: 02 Aug 2019 07:46 AM PDT

Hi All, Hoping to get some advice on totem or brand builds. I've played totems in the past and had fair success with them, but i haven't really tried Brands.

I am looking for a build that either uses Brands, Totems or both that has enough clear speed and fair bosskilling ability.

I came across this build whilst looking for something to play and was wondering if it would work in 3.7? If not, is it salvageable? What changes could be made to make it work?

If the above is completely dead, what brand builds do people recommend?

    Thanks!
