Patch 3.8 & Blight League Compiled Information Thread

    Posted: 20 Aug 2019 04:33 PM PDT

This thread is a compilation of all 3.8.0-related information. All the teasers we get in announcements, videos, news coverage and forums posts will be organised and posted here. If you find anything missing or incorrect, please comment so I can add it to the list. Thanks!

    Major Announcements & News Posts

    Minor/Miscellaneous Announcements

    • The 3.8 supporter packs will be available later this week.

    The Blight League

    • Areas will contain Fungal Growths that spread tendrils into the area around them. You must protect Sister Cassia (a new NPC) while she uses a pump to destroy the growths.

    • When the encounter begins, mind-controlled enemies will begin spawning at the end of each tendril and running directly along the tendrils to attack the pump. They will follow the tendrils exactly and will not attack you unless you're in the way, but will destroy the pump if not killed. These enemies are unusually hard to kill.

    • Sister Cassia builds towers in order to help you in the encounter. There is a range of towers available, and you can pick which towers are constructed and how they're upgraded. It seems that killing the enemies during the encounter provide the resource required to build/upgrade more towers.

    • At the end of a successful encounter, you receive a reward from each tendril attached to the growth. This appears to use a similar system to Legion rewards, where each reward container has a symbol hovering over it and will give items of that type when opened.

    • Rewards can also include oils, which you can use to place new enchantments on your gear. A combination of two oils can enchant a ring (and only rings) with an enchantment that provides bonuses to the towers used in blight encounters. A combination of three oils can enchant an amulet or one of four blight-specific unique items to allocate any notable passive on the passive tree. The result of this process will be shown before you consume the oils. These enchantments can be overwritten if desired, and that passives allocated via these enchantments cannot be allocated again on the skill tree.

    • There are also 13 hidden notable passives that can only be obtained from enchantments.

    • There are twelve types of oil, with differing rarities. They can be upgraded via a 3:1 vendor recipe, like essences.

    • In the endgame, you can find blighted maps that contain gigantic blight encounters with exclusive rewards. Oils can also be used to modify these, but we don't know the details of this yet.

    Changes to Master Content

    Game Mechanics Changes

    • A second bar of skill bindings has been added! It's not yet clear exactly how this will function on PC. Details on console functonality.

    • Mine mechanics have been completely reworked. They are now thrown to a location (like traps), rather than placed at your feet. Each mine you have placed also reserves a small amount of mana (unclear whether percentage or flat) instead of costing mana to place. When detonated, they trigger sequentially rather than all at once. Many mine skills now provide bonuses for detonating large sequences of mines. See also: passive tree changes and new skill & support gems.

    • Currently unknown changes are being made to how ailments scale when applied by a critical hit (in addition to changes to the Perfect Agony keystone passive). See also: passive tree changes and new skill & support gems.

    • Currently unknown changes are being made to minion mechanics. See also: passive tree changes, item balance, and new skill & support gems.

    • A new buff called "elusive" is being added. It adds defensive and movement bonuses and decays over time.

    Passive Tree Changes

    Item Balance

    • A new wand base type is being added. This base type can roll minion-specific modifiers.

New Skill & Support Gems (5/16)

Reworked/Updated Skill & Support Gems (total number unknown)

    • No details yet, but it's a safe assumption that plenty of minion, poison and mine related gems are getting changes.

    New (4/16) & Reworked (0/24) Unique Items

    • No details on the reworked uniques yet, other than that 6 of the 24 will be getting "substantial overhauls".

    New Divination Cards (2/18)

    Media Coverage

    Release Schedule (Pacific Time)

    • Teasers every NZ weekday from now until launch (and weekends too if we're lucky)

    • Sunday, September 1: Blight League challenge rewards revealed

I still have 31 unveiled mods in Legion with 6 characters at 92+, 17 uber elders killed and 9949 maps done

    Posted: 21 Aug 2019 06:41 AM PDT

6 characters at 92+ (some 97 and 95) and 17 uber elders killed. All content done numerous times.

This league i decided i am gonna go HARD on this shit, and by hard i mean: did every betrayal i saw., a lot of people gave me their betrayal crap to help unveil missing mods, + i bought several HUNDREDS of veiled items on trade. On top of that i even bought some Kalandra's Craft prophecies to try and unlock Elreon rings. And after all that i am still missing 31 mods. Some of them are literally impossible to get by just PLAYING THE GAME

Please, do something with this UNVEILING system. I seriously doubt i will go hard in the next league and a lot of people are loosing hope for this as well.

Everyone complaining how they're not going to play the league before it's even finalized and released, I dunno, maybe wait to try it once and give feedback before the entire community devolves into a circlejerk of rage and hate?

    Posted: 21 Aug 2019 09:24 AM PDT

We know GGG tries new things.

We know it doesn't always work out wonderfully.

We also know they usually will update the league within 1-3 weeks of launch.

Like I get that as of now it looks like Abyss+Towers which isn't super stimulating. But i dunno maybe try it first before dismissing it?

    EDIT:

Jesus christ you people are so fucking defensive. OF COURSE YOU CAN HAVE OPINIONS. No, you shouldn't dismiss something outright based on a trailer alone. I don't think that's unreasonable.

"Why are you being so defensive" maybe because when the subreddit makes up it's mind and starts upvoting only negative things to the top, it becomes toxic, and I'd like for that to not happen for yet another league. Feedback is good. Concerns are good.

Toxic cynicism is bad, and people claiming that this league is going to suck before it even starts is toxic cynicism. This was rampant in the thread with the video of the low tier blighted Map. Synthesis was 3 months of pure negativity... yet after 3.6.3, synthesis was my favorite league. The subreddit still hated it throughout the entire 3 months. Nonstop negativity about it. Nonstop "THANK FUCK synthesis is gone forever."

    Petition: Click-and-drag Tower Selection

    Posted: 21 Aug 2019 08:22 AM PDT

No one will know for sure for another 2 weeks, but previews show a tower selection UI that requires two clicks per tower, with a small amount of wait in between.

GGG, let us click and drag to select tower type.

Timeless jewel search tool with 13440 preloaded jewel socket instances

    Posted: 21 Aug 2019 06:06 AM PDT

    Hey,

I made a tool for searching for timeless jewels. You can specify what mods you want and their values' respective weights and it will present you with the best matching jewels from the database sorted by weighted sum. Currently, I've analyzed and stored 640 unique jewels to the preloaded database which, while merely a fraction of all seeds, is still 13440 jewel sockets and probably close to a million nodes, so hopefully you can find some jewel that fits your build and that is available to buy somewhere.

The site is super simple, so if anyone with any sort of web experience considers contributing, feel free! Ideally however, this data should be available at poetimeless.xyz soon, as it is likely going to be a better platform for jewel searching going forward.

The site files are here and the database JSON file is here.

There are some jewels with obviously incorrect values such as one elegant hubris with 412% critical strike multiplier, but they should be few and pretty easy to spot, and if you're unsure you can always double check with the wiki if the node value is in the possible range.

Setup and usage should be easy:

    1. Get MongoDB
    2. Extract the database.json file from database.zip
    3. Import the database by running mongoimport --db project_timeless --collection jewels --file database.json or do the corresponding thing with a GUI with MongoDB Compass
    4. pip3 install -r requirements.txt to get the required python3 packages
    5. python3 run_site.py
    6. Site should be up and running at 127.0.0.1:8080

P.S. Only the jewel searching feature of the tool should be discussed in this forum

A Unique Jewel idea that would make a lot more monsters viable as Raised Spectres: if there is x number of Strength points within radius, minions only use attacks; if there is x number of Intelligence points within radius, minions only use spells.

    Posted: 21 Aug 2019 08:14 AM PDT

A lot of monsters are not good as Spectres because they have one powerful spell but also use their basic attack which sucks. Or inversely because their basic attack/attack skill is really strong but they also use a spell which is undesirable when you're scaling a minion's physical attack damage; Kitava's Herald is actually a great example of that, they are held back by their frequent usage of their "mortar" spell when they aren't in melee range of enemy targets.

One solution to that would be a Unique Jewel that makes it so if there is x# of Strength points within radius, minions only use their attack skills and basic attacks, and not their spells; and inversely, when there is x# number of Intelligence points within radius, minions only use their spells, and not their attack skills and basic attacks.

Since 3.8 is a Summoner overhaul, I thought I'd bring up that idea. What do y'all think?

edit: in addition, the jewel could also give Raised Spectres increased cooldown recovery speed, so they will use their one attack/spell more often.
