    Mixing Skills for Cool Effects.

    Posted: 01 Sep 2019 02:00 AM PDT

I want to mix different skills to have cool effects. I use sunder on a crit slayer build. Can i do something like shattering enemies after my sunder kills them? Or using some other spells like frost nova to freeze them and shattering them with sunder? Can you give me different ideas and ways to do it?

    Thks.

Bloodseeker Cyclone Raider - need a reality check

    Posted: 31 Aug 2019 02:13 PM PDT

A little historical preamble might be in order:

In 3.5 the Bloodseeker Double Strike Champion probably hit its peak. Supposedly a decently equipped variant of the build could face tank even Shaper Beams, so impresive was its life leech.

Then 3.6. came (which is when I started playing PoE) and the life leech nerf hit. Since the life leech per hit was capped, the goal - if one wanted to preserve the idea of the build - had to be to instead maximize the number of hits per second. Enter the raider. If the thread is to be believed this did not work out too badly. I dabbled a bit, and even with mediocre gear the life leech was impressive.

Then 3.7. came, Double Strike and Multi Strike got a severe tampering with their attack speed, and now the concept was truly dead.

Then there were the announcements for 3.8. ...

If Double Strike no longer cuts it, why not look for another fast hitting skill, like Cyclone? If only the range of those Bloodseeker claws weren't so measely ... but wait, isn't the 3.8 revamp of the Cyclone gem going to fix this? And there are even tweaks (buffs?) to the Raider ascendancy on the horizon.

Now one problem Bloodseeker have is that their dps is not so impressive. Double Strike fixed this to a degree with the huge amount of flat damage on the gem. Cyclone can't offer that in that quantity, especially not in 3.8. Still, do you think the concept could still work?

I am asking you, the more experienced PoE veterans since I honestly can't really tell how viable that concept will be, and I'd rather not sink a considerable amount of currency into it only to learn that this wasn't the greatest idea.

Totem chieftain: how good are they compared to hierophants?

    Posted: 01 Sep 2019 12:29 AM PDT

    Hi there,

im considering an totem chieftain as my leaguestarter for 3.8 .

Is someone playing a similar build? It is capable of runing t14+ maps without dieing to much?

I think chieftain in general is more tanky then Hierophant?

A Blight mine build theory-craft thread

    Posted: 31 Aug 2019 05:02 PM PDT

decided to do some theory-crafting for a mine build so i was going through some ideas and i thought that id run them through here and get an idea from some probably more experienced players. my current one I'm lingering on is a pyroclast mine build with a blasphamy flammability and curse on hit elemental weakness supported with a charged mine icicle mine going for pure fire damage. https://pastebin.com/BG425F1v its only the tree for now since most of it will change when the actual 3.8 tree comes out but this kinda an idea of what i want to do, still not quite sure what to go with when it comes to survivability whether to go with dodge chance with acro and blind, or do CI with MOM, any ideas?

Edit 1: https://pastebin.com/Bnjya5KE i made some adjustments, mainly not being dumb and making mistake of having CI and MOM together, so now i mainly have MOM and moved some mana nodes around to get a little more life.

People who theorycrafted and played their own off-meta or meme builds, how did they fare in Legion league?

    Posted: 31 Aug 2019 07:11 AM PDT

I played a blue-items only Righteous Fire Chieftain build, and hilariously enough it was the easiest levelling I've ever done. If I could figure out how to make the thing Delve properly it'd be my next league-starter, but alas, still working out that wrinkle.

    How about you guys?

Need inspiration for a build, haven’t looked into the league much yet but want to start theorycrafting soon

    Posted: 31 Aug 2019 01:58 PM PDT

I haven't looked into the changes that came with blight league a whole lot yet (getting into that this week) apart from the new minion supports and the new necromancer ascendency. I'm looking to make my own build (which I've done a couple times before with success), but I was hoping those who looked into the changes could tell me what seems strong as of right now (and maybe a brief reason why, so I don't try a build and miss out on the key component that makes it good lol) to help give me some ideas for my build.

I'm currently thinking of trying a minion instability build that uses that new fire aoe minion support but like I said that's just my initial thoughts without going into PoB at all or completely looking over the changes that were announced. I know things will really just be guesses until numbers get released on the skill gems but if any new unique stands out or any other thing has caught your eye, I'd love to hear about it!

help me figure out if a dark pact + VD/DD necro could make sense

    Posted: 31 Aug 2019 11:12 AM PDT

General idea is to push all damage types with all the options for + to minion gems. Main damage sources will come from:

    • two/three dark pact totems (multi-totem support) in a 4 or pseudo 5 L (thinking boots) casting against chonker skeles
    • skeles casted automatically from wither + CwC probably in a wand but maybe in a chest
    • volatile dead or detonate dead because why not? Adding this into the mix is when I start to wonder which would be better for mapping and which for bossing.. and if a staff might make more sense for a second 6/7 link instead of a wand and shield or two 1h minion weapons. I miss the playstyle of poet pen + VD + bodyswap for mapping so it'd be awesome if this was the general run around and delete trash - and it seems like bodyswap is going to be decent at damage now.

Probably will still have a nice specter and zombies or golems because I haven't used the helm or glove links at all yet. Probably only necessary for tougher enemies or for helping with the blight encounters.

What do you think? Too much going on or is there potential here?

    Need some build recommendations

    Posted: 31 Aug 2019 07:30 AM PDT

Hey guys, a friendly standard pleb here.

I've been having a blast with Path of Exile and I've been playing it on and off since Synthesis League

(But like I mentioned, I am playing on the standard league).

So my current main is pretty much a version of Demis infinite tinkerer/lightning trapper.

On a cheap 10ex'ish budget I managed to copy something which killed lots of Uber Elders, Shapers, manages just fine on 300~ Delve, killed my first Aul, Uber Atziri etc.

But I am not really into the lightning trapper playstyle anymore.

I've tried LOTS of builds but most of them weren't able to compete with "my" trapper.

So that's why I am asking you. I am basically out of ideas. Soon the new league will start which means (atleast I guess so?) that Legion content will be available on Standard.

I want to build something which stomps the 5-way encounter and basically the game in generall.

I have a 110 ex~ budget so I think most of builds and ideas should be doable.

It could even fit a headhunter.

But I don't want it to be another phys cyclone or simple tornado shot build.

Allthough CoC Cyclone would be okay (Don't know how it manages with 5-ways, though?).

I was also playing with the idea to go for a eternity shroud storm brand build. Anyone knows how they compete with 5-ways?

Thanks for your ideas, guys :)
