Pro-Tip: If your client starts lagging over the course of an extended play-through, try closing it out and reopening (NOT relogging). There seems to be a slow but sure memory leak going on.

Howdy y'all. Just wanted to let y'all know this simple bandaid fix that I tried yesterday during a long session on PoE. I'd say you can double up the good of this by taking a 5 minute break every 50-60 minutes and close out your client while you get up, drink water, stretch, etc.

No clue on how long it takes for the performance degradation to occur, but after closing the client and reopening I noticed SIGNIFICANTLY better frames (from like 2-5 FPS in Delve, often freezing and disconnecting, to a steady 80+ FPS).

I'm running a Ryzen 1700x and a GTX 1070, if that means anything. Thanks for coming to my TED talk!

So I Raised my blighted map experience as a spectre

Shower thought - Hideout decoration that minions gather around.

    Posted: 30 Sep 2019 07:51 AM PDT

With Blight league being heavily minion build centered, I realized how much I disliked them moving around so much. And how difficult it was to select another player to trade with (on Xbox). Thought it might be nice to have some area to designate minions to stay put while in the hideout.

Something like a well of souls, made from bone and stone, with some wisps or souls effect. Or one of Catarina's totem / pillars redesigned. They could all group up or encircle it, without wandering about.

Most Oils are pretty much useless in the Blight league

    Posted: 30 Sep 2019 04:57 AM PDT

So, we keep collecting them since they drop in big amounts from the Blight encounters, but most of them are pretty much useless. Yeah, one can use some of them to anoint an amulet (the best use) and/or the rings (pretty meh). The remaining use case is to anoint the blight maps, but being lvl 98, I saw about 20 blight maps so far. And, only a couple of oils make sense to use on blight maps, the rest is just completely useless. And they are almost worthless, nobody needs them, nobody buys them. In legion, we could at least sell the splinters for decent money.

GGG, it would be nice to have some utility for the oils. How about giving us an ability to anoint normal maps with some interesting bonuses? They shouldn't be huge, just some extra fun and some use for all those oils which are currently just a dead weight. I'd be glad even with 3% quant per oil bonus, even this would be better than nothing.

UPD: Yeah, there is 3-to-1 upgrade path of oils, but it is very inefficient, esp. given the amount of oil tiers.

About visual clutter and overwhelming situations

    Posted: 30 Sep 2019 10:08 AM PDT

(Sorry if I am not very clear, English is not my native language)

    Bit of background about me:

    • Pretty casual player (1h/day during the week, 3-4 hours/day during week ends at the start of a league).
    • Playing since the end of open-beta (played every temp league), SSF HC since nemesis league.
    • Not a very good player. Never attempted shaper, died once to white elder, died once to yellow elder. Never got past tier 14 maps I think.

So I am not a top-tier player, but I still know the mechanics (even if it took me quite some time to get it right). Blight is my first run in SC, because I wanted to try some content that I have not been able to try in HC yet (deep delve, shaper mostly).

Until a few leagues ago, I really loved the game.

Even when I died, it was still cool because mostly my fault (I did not lose too many chars to desync back in the days, and I am luck enough to have a good internet provider). Most of the time I knew why I died (mechanics or overconfidence). Of course some random deaths occured.

For a few leagues now, I enjoy the game a bit less. The reason is not because of league mechanics directly (loved synthesis, betrayal, legion, loving blight), but because instead of not understanding the mechanics of the game, I am not understanding what happens on my screen.

I think Betrayal is the league when I started to enjoy less, because I clearly remember dying many many times in this league and I had no idea what was happening. Most of the time I could not tell what syndicate members where present, or what skill they were using (it was better after the patch but still to this day I don't really understand what happens when 2+ members are on the screen)

Legion was also very confusing for me, but the freeze at the start of the event at least let me anticipate a bit what was about to come.

And now, blight is clearly the worst for me. I remember Jonathan or Neon saying on Baeclast that they wanted the blight monsters to have an identity so that we could quickly understand what towers to build etc... But the truth is I have no idea what any of the blight monsters are.

I spend my time running around trying to build/upgrade towers, placing my cremation and detonating some dead bodies. Most of the time it is good enough. But sometimes I get a random death, and I never have been able to tell what killed me. Not even if it was a spell or a proj, or a melee attack. No idea.

Between the number of enemies, their skills, the auras, proximity shields, the tower effects, and my own skills... I simply see nothing on the screen. I won't even try to read a rare mob mods (anyone does that?).

I really want to insist that I am not talking about performance issues (even if they don't help). My game runs pretty well, I don't have any crash or freeze. I am really just talking about.. I guess "design" of the game where too many things happen at once and the visual effects are not .. visible for me.

So I guess my question is: am I getting too old for this? How do you manage everything that happens on the screen?

Maybe I should just play some perm-league and avoid this kind of content (Honestly I would rather quit the game than play perm-league).

PS: otherwise I really love the master change, I can now decide what content to run and not feel pressured into playing my only t13 map to do a niko mission.

PSA: How to search for amulet anointments/enchants on the trade indexer

    Posted: 29 Sep 2019 08:12 PM PDT

A friend of mine was bummed out that he couldn't search for a particular notable anointment on an amulet, so I did a bit of experimentation.

As it turns out, there's a stat filter on pathofexile.com/trade called "[Enchant] Allocates #". Setting the min and max number to a certain value will return amulet results that have the corresponding enchant/anointment. e.g. 6 is Twin Terrors.

I found it strange that they weren't in any particular order, and it wasn't like they were numbered nicely from 1 to 200, but instead seemed to skip up dozens or hundreds of numbers at a time before the next notable.

The big reveal: It's tied to the node's ID from the passive tree JSON file. I put together a list of all (I think?) notables that can be anointed onto an amulet which can be found here on Pastebin.

Look up the notable you want (i.e. Diamond Skin), search for it in that list to find the ID (10542), then set that to be the minimum and maximum value in the search.

    Happy trading.

If GGG can't make Blighted maps stable, they can raise Blighted map drop chance

    Posted: 30 Sep 2019 04:05 PM PDT

Me and my gf play poe together, and we especially like to do unique/blighted maps together. So today we got tier 12 blighted map for the first time in this league. After some time in that map, PoE decided to just crash, and then 2 more times in title screen, which resulted in our failing, and ~ 60c map going to waste. My bad GGG for not having a quantum computer, but this is bullshit! Ok, maybe your game is badly optimised, but why would game crash 2 more times even before character selection? I just want to know does this shit happen often? If this is something that we have to deal with constantly, just give us more blighted maps... Maybe mobile Diablo won't kill this game, but incompetent people at GGG will. YOUR CORE MECHANIC IS NOT WORKING!?!?!?!
