    Idea for Watchstones in 3.9

    Idea for Watchstones in 3.9

In Conquerors of the Atlas you will be able to acquire Watchstones which you can socket into Atlas to modify it's regions. Here's some i made up:

    https://preview.redd.it/69qmkccnq9041.png?width=646&format=png&auto=webp&s=442fcedb806b86a7e5a21d210da07df1e1c63888

With these you will be able to target farm "encounters".

I really hope watchstones will be far more interesting than just map tier risers.

[Suggestion] Incorporate Blight league by keeping only the blighted maps

    Posted: 22 Nov 2019 06:40 AM PST

The way I see it, there are 2 main groups of opinions on Blight league:

    - People who love the mechanic and feel that normal map blight encounters are a bit too short of an experience

    - People who don't really like the mechanic altogether

Keeping blighted maps as a special drop (maybe only available from map bosses for example) allows for the full experience of Blight in a way that the player can control completely. This solution also avoids the continued bloating of maps with random 10% chances, which I personally really dislike.

The difficulty and rewards could be adjusted such that white blighted maps serve as an introduction to the mechanic and red blighted maps are harder and with high *blight-specific* rewards like uniques and oils. This gives the maps a niche and an intrinsic value that is also currently lacking a bit with all the cross-mechanic reward systems.

You could even push this further and allow for blighted maps to drop in blighted maps (maybe even with a good probability), thus allowing for a completely alternative endgame system to maps at essentially no development cost except for balancing.

tl,dr: Blighted maps are the most interesting part of Blight league and have a lot of potential within the core game. The 10% chance in maps sucks imo and should be avoided as much as possible

    Progressive Skill Design

    Posted: 22 Nov 2019 07:56 AM PST

    Piggybacking off of this post.

One of the things that has annoyed me over the past few leagues is the fact that they're modifying or creating new archetypes, but they're not continuing to develop within that design space. Using the original post's topic of Brands, we have two Brands, as well as a number of nodes on the tree, and even some Ascendancy focus for them, but there has been no continued development on the Brand theme. It almost feels as though Brands were simply a feature of that patch, and nothing else.

While I love the idea of themes within the new gems added with each patch, I would like to see some more continued development of those themes as new patches are released. Some, we've gone back to somewhat (such as the Chaos/Poison theme), but GGG is designing new build archetypes without continued support.

What I would like to see is that each subsequent league ties in the themes of the previous league in the new skill gems, allowing for a little bit of extra development. For example, Incursion brought a bunch of new traps. In Delve, there could have been a Holy or Poison based trap to continue the theme. Then, in Betrayal, you can add a Holy or Chaos-based Brand. In Synthesis, an Impaling spell. In Legion, perhaps, a Blood and Sand aura which swaps between DoT modifiers, and so on.

As a trapper at heart, I loved the Brands, and was excited for the fact that there are several Brand modifiers on the tree specifically, but ultimately, the additional support for Brands hasn't been there. I've made several Brand characters, utilizing both Brands, in multiple different classes, and I feel as though I'm mostly just done with Brands, despite how much I enjoy the playstyle. Having some additional, continued support for the mechanic would justify its presence on the skill tree (and in Ascendancies), as well as allowing players who love a particular aspect of a given patch's skill theme to continue playing and innovating within that theme. Blending these themes allows you to add additional support for the current league's theme, while providing more options for older builds.

    KittenCatNoodle's Complete Lore Series

    Posted: 22 Nov 2019 09:55 AM PST

I know this was mentioned awhile back when I think she was on the first few acts, but it's been quite some time since then so I figured this would be okay to post.

For those of you who are not aware, KittenCatNoodle has been working on a video series regarding the Lore of PoE. A little over a month ago she finally finished her Act 10 video, and she's now moved onto additional lore. Today marks the release of the second of those bonus videos "The History of the Vaal"

The Initial Videos focus on our Exile as we travel through Acts 1-10 and what we learn along the way, as well as some backstory and history as it becomes relevant. The next set of videos cover various topics, her last one was on Thaumaturgy and Virtue gems themselves, and as I said The one just released today is about the history of the Vaal.

She was working on Act 1-10 for almost a year and finishing that was an incredible feat. She put a ton of time and effort into this entire project and it absolutely shows in the end result. I would love to see her get even more love and support for this project, as it has been a massive undertaking, and a huge personal goal of hers.

She was able to take a ton of the incredibly dense information and condensed it down to be concise and informative as possible. Best of all something that you can repeatedly come back to or just enjoy listening to in the background while playing. They are incredibly well done, and progressively get better IMO.

Big things are coming with PoE 2 off in the near distant future, so this is a great resource to have.

If you're interested in watching the entirety of "The Complete Lore Series" here is the link to the full playlist here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=loVRzJ30FzY&list=PLVbBUf18CULLbx1-Uun8fTumMs32DnrVM

If you havent watched them at all I suggest starting from the beginning.

However if you want to watch the most recent video on "The Fall of the Vaal" you're in luck cause it literally just went live as I was writing this up: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2aJrtEyIA44

    Cheers and much love.

    Porcupine Brand

    Posted: 22 Nov 2019 10:02 AM PST

    Porcupine Brand

    Level 1

    Level 20

    Thought Process

Here's my first contribution to the GGG Brand Recognition initiative. Many of us love brands and would like to have new ones to play with!

This concept was based on Storm Brand, Ethereal Knives, and the infamous Porcupine Goliath monster skill. It would also be the first spell to have access to the Impale mechanic, as such, I thought it would be fair to give it a physical-only drawback. Thematically, porcupines deal physical damage, so it reinforces the fantasy of harnessing their explosive power! :D

Storm Brand has a duration of 5 / 10 sec and an activation frequency of 0.6 sec. Because Impale feels better with repeated hits, I reduced its duration by 20% in exchange for giving it 20% more frequency. Most of its other values came from Ethereal Knifes as a template, except for its 20% faster projectile speed. Unlike other Brands, this one is strictly single-target damage until it explodes. The projectile damage multiplier of (150-175)% only applies to the explosion's nova and originates from the values used in-game by the monster.

The nova should be powerful for mapping, but it won't normally hit bosses unless you're intentionally letting them expire on the ground or attaching them to that boss's additional monsters. It does impale, so its single target damage should still be respectable without the more projectile damage multiplier.

    Intended Interactions

The wording on the gem [ Impale branded enemy on hit ] is local, not global. It's only meant to give Impale chance to the hits from this skill that are damaging the branded enemy. The modifer won't enable the skill's projectiles to impale, or any other source for that matter. It's a single-target damage boost and nothing more, and it does scale with increased effect of Impale.

    Optional Interactions - Potentially Unbalanced

Brand Recall causes Porcupine Brands explode after being recalled, significantly increasing your single-target damage with skillful timing.

Casting Porcupine Brand when you already have the maximum number of Brands created will cause the oldest Brand to expire. (Porcupine Brand explodes when it expires)

    Icefang Brand

    Posted: 22 Nov 2019 12:42 PM PST

    Icefang Brand

    Level 1

    Level 20

    Thought Process

Here's my 2nd contribution to the GGG Brand Recognition initiative. Many of us love brands and would like to have new ones to play with!

It's another Dexterity based Brand skill (like the other I designed) so the two of these new skills aren't all lumped in with Intelligence. This concept was based on the Arctic Breath active skill, Icefang Orbit unique ring, and Volkuur's Guidance unique gloves. The goal was to create a Brand skill that would not only be ideal for the Templar or Shadow, but Occultists too!

We don't currently have a Brand for cold or chaos damage, Icefang Brand was designed to fill this role. : )

We primarily accomplish this by giving this skill damage over time scaling for both chaos and cold damage! Your chaos modifiers will scale any poison damage you deal, and your poison modifiers (increased poison duration, poison deals double damage, faster damage with poison, etc) will also improve its poison-like cold damage over time debuff.

I gave it a radius of 6 which is half the size of Arctic Breath's radius of 12. This feels pretty fair considering Brand users can create up to 3 brands by default.

    Clarification

    therospherae

One thing to note with regard to phrasing:

The gem itself should read "Cold Damage from This Skill can Poison," rather than "Your Cold Damage can Poison."

I didn't think to word it differently though you're right, the intent here was for the poison to only be applicable by cold damage dealt by this skill.

    Intended Interactions - Assassin

Any modifiers to poison will affect the stacking cold debuff / damage over time effect:

    Noxious Strike

5% increased Poison Duration for each Poison you have inflicted Recently

Recover 0.5% of Life per Poison affecting Enemies you Kill

40% chance to Poison on Hit

    50% increased Damage with Poison

+25% to Damage over Time Multiplier for Poison

    Toxic Delivery

10% reduced Damage taken from Damage Over Time

Gain 20% of Physical Damage as Extra Chaos Damage against Poisoned Enemies

Poison you inflict with Critical Strikes deals 50% more Damage

+0.4% to Critical Strike Chance per Poison affecting Enemy, up to +2.0%

    Intended Interactions - Occultist

The occultist doesn't have poison modifiers, but she does have useful notables for both chaos and cold damage over time!

    Void Beacon

Nearby Enemies have -20% to Chaos Resistance

Nearby Enemies have 100% reduced Life Regeneration rate

Nearby Enemies have -20% to Cold Resistance

    Withering Presence

+20% to Chaos Damage over Time Multiplier

    +60% to Chaos Resistance

Every second, inflict Withered on nearby Enemies for 15 seconds

Nearby Hindered Enemies deal 15% reduced Damage over Time

    Frigid Wake

+20% to Cold Damage over Time Multiplier

    Cannot be Chilled

    Cannot be Frozen

Every 4 seconds, Freeze nearby Chilled Non-Unique Enemies for 0.6 seconds

Every 4 seconds, 33% chance to Freeze nearby Chilled Unique Enemies for 0.6 seconds

Nearby Chilled Enemies deal 10% reduced Damage with Hits

Why is PoE's website the only one I see using local time for display? (which is awesome btw)

    Posted: 22 Nov 2019 02:01 AM PST

Other companies are like "yea, it's GTM -8 12:00 AM have fun calculating it especially if you are close to summer time and forgot which one is it currently" but PoE web developers were like this: "yea, it ends in THAT time at your time zone, we got you fam"

edit: Just to be clear why is it a big deal for me, we use YYYY/MM/DD Hour/Min format and 0-24h time display. I hate converting time back to logical format.

GGG plz add new Brand-skills in next patches. I enjoy fire apocalypse created by Armageddon Brand, but now we have only 2 options with lightning and fire. So why don't make some cold/phys/chaos brands.

Question about endgame builds from a disabled gamer.

    Posted: 22 Nov 2019 10:25 AM PST

First of all, I've asked a similar question a few years ago, but the game had many updates, I've not played in ages, and I don't know how much has changed, so I've decided to ask again, apologies for that. I'm stuck in bed 24/7. With my disease, I have serious difficulties with playing some of the games because my weak muscles prevent me from pressing any buttons on the keyboard, I do everything using a laptop touchpad and an on-screen keyboard.

I just wanted to ask two simple questions.

Is it possible to make builds that are endgame viable, and don't require more than 2-3 active skills(and flasks) in the current version?

And what's the best place to find builds?

Back then when I first asked the question a few years ago, I've received a lot of great help, and ended up playing almost 200 hours in about two months, but as I've said earlier, I haven't played in ages, and I don't know how much has changed(If anything).
