    CI Vortex: Trickster or Occultist?

    It's been a few days now for the new league, and one of the premier tanky boss killing builds that has emerged is the cold dot/vortex build.

    Its advantages are twofold:

    • It's CI: A lot of the damage in new content is chaos, and being immune to that is an immense help.

    • High DPS uptime: Vortex is instant cast and Cold Snap is ranged, which allows for high dps uptime while doing mechanics.

    • Stun immune: Very nice QoL.

    The two best ascendancies for this are Trickster and Occultist.

    From what I can see, this is what each one offers:

    • Occultist: Freeze immunity. Constant regeneration of ES. Corpse explosions.

    • Trickster: Recovers better from big hits. High Evasion in addition to high ES.

    The question is, which one is better? Which one do you prefer? Is there anything I've missed?

    What is the current state of Explosive arrow?

    Started the league with an explosive arrow build but am starting to think about re-rolling after watching mathil's latest video on his explosive arrow character and reading some other people's experiences of using the skill in maps/endgame.

    Has anyone here been able to push explosive arrow into endgame? Mathil mentioned that it might be better to scale the ignite instead (i.e., go elemental overload/elemental equililbrium, run a quill rain with dyadian dawn, etc.) for endgame purposes. I was also thinking that raider might better for damage and clear instead of deadeye. What has everyone's experience with explosive arrow been so far?

    [3.9] Oblation Tri-Offering Spectres

    Just want to share my first go at the new unique item Leash of Oblation. Here is the pob: https://pastebin.com/bfdx5p3E

    The idea is to put Bone, Flesh, and Spirit Offering in a wand with the trigger socketed spell when you use a skill crafted mod. Desecrate is casted manually for bossfights to have full uptime of all 3 Offerings. Any ideas on how to optimize it further for the Awakener fight?

    Tanky builds for Metamorph?

    Hey, guys. Ive gotten to characters to maps so far in metamorph, but dying just makes me lose my drive for continuing with that character. I used to play hardcore a ton and if I day often it sort of just kills the vibe for me.

    I have no gripes about any classes or ascendency, but skill wise I've done Molten strike, earthquake and basically all the normal stuff you can play out of Jugg. So I'm not opposed to those types of builds, but if we could avoid right click melee skills that'd be great. Any help is appreciated thanks!

    Looking for help upgrading my ~15m DPS Flicker Strike Trickster build on a ~20-25ex budget

    I'm pretty comfortable with the build's clearspeed and DPS; with War Banner planted I can burst 16m DPS, without it I can still do a solid 13.5. Where I really struggle is bosses that have invuln phases; I'm the first to admit I'm not great at dodging, so I get one-shotted a lot.

    The obvious upgrade is to swap out Abyssus for Vertex, which takes my DPS down to a still-respectable 8.5-10m DPS and nearly doubles my defenses (+800ES, +12% Evade Chance, and obviously no physical damage penalty). With Vaal Grace and Fortify, that feels a little better. Still, I die way more often than I'd like to bosses (I lost all six portals on Catarina yesterday, which felt awful) and I want to be better.

    I'd really like some more life/ES, and I'm thinking the next step is to start replacing some of my uniques with rares, trying Timeless Jewels, etc. I have enough EX saved to get some solid gear. That said, I literally can't find anything that works out better in POB (excluding things that cost a mirror - I'm not insanely wealthy). I'd really appreciate any help you can offer!

    Edit 1: I know I could 6L Bronns, but it doesn't actually get me anything because I literally just use Cyclone to generate Power/Frenzy charges during invuln phases or before boss arenas - it's not a DPS skill.

    Edit 2: I think my CWDT setup (20 Steelskin + 20 CWDT) worked out to be optimal but happy to hear otherwise from folks who know more than I do.

    HoWA builds...

    is HoWA good? what are the pros and cons? I've seen only 0.1% of ppl run it on the metamorph ladder, why? is there any option besides jugg? inquisitor for example. what about the main skill? why is molten strike the most common skill? is there any lightning-based skill besides charged dash that is good with it?

    Poison vs Elemental Blade Vortex Assassin ?

    I want to reroll to blade vortex but I'm not sure which one is better than the other in terms of clear speedand bossing?

    Poison variant seems to be cheaper since it uses two Cold Iron daggers but I dont know how the clearspeed for it is.

    Also does anyone know if blade vortex is good against the buffed up bosses?

    Windz's Arc Sabo advice needed

    As title kinda states I'm following Windz's fantastic guide for Arc Sabo. Problem comes in because Im relatively new and have no idea how miners roll. My priorities are getting 36 challenges and farming the lucrative metamorphs.

    Have kinda gotten used to the gameplay and just gotten to maps but the main question that keeps me up at night are about survivability.

    I know it shows a Tabula Rasa in the guide but would equiping a Cloak of Defiance then moving into lowlife increase my dmg? In fact is a low life miner even a thing? I mean if its viable I can work towards it but will I get mad squishy?

    Any other tips if you guys can share on miners (or arc miners) would also be greatly appreciated.

    Miner sabo defense layers

    Hi, I skipped the whole mine changes last league and I'm running icicle mines sabo atm, just lv50 now so half of this is still theorycraft.

    Since the tree is basically mine nodes, crit and not much life nodes of course I go for Acro and Phase Acro, and get blind aura on the ascendancy. Thinking of getting decent eva rating on gear pieces + jade flask of reflexes and my math says I'll have around 20k evasion with flask up.

    So that's great but when I eventually get hit on my 4k life pool its gonna hurt, so a few mana nodes and cloak of defiance might get my ehp to around 6k. Add skitterbots chill, mines hinder (40% less mov spd) and enfeeble / temp chains on CWDT setup, so mob packs are really slowed.

    Questions are, am I overdoing defensive layers? How much evade chance actually is 20k at lv 90? Is it enough? Should I scrap a layer off my list?

    Explosive Arrow Raider

    Looking for assistance with an ignite scaling explosive arrow. Currently I'm using Quillrain and was wondering if the ignite would scale better with say a silver branch? I'm not sure if the extra stacking is better or not.

    If anyone has a link to a guide or paste in where they scale the ignite that would be fantastic. My Google-fu has failed me.

    I'm also looking for another build that could easily transition to from EA should I find that it doesn't perform well at end game. Possibly something a bit more tanky? I know I might have to go for another class for that but would prefer ranger as I have limited play time.

    Metamorph league mobile endgame build.

    I still a semi new player and haven't played in a year or so. I previously played winter orb , molten strike, and Arc. I really liked the play style of Arc but it lacked the boss killing punch . I didn't like the channel aspect of winter orb . Any suggestions?

    Golem cast speed "cap"

    Hey so I'm just making sure I'm building correctly. Let's say I have Chaos Golem with 0.77s cooldown on Cascade and supported by Spell Echo. The maximum cast speed they can achieve with this spell due to the cooldown limit is actually 2 casts/0.77s =2.59 right? Since they get 2 casts every skill use?

    Edit: and anyone with experience, any quirks I should be aware of? Already lvl 85 cruising through but I'm wary of like, getting too much cast speed and having them auto attack when they can't use Cascade or something!

    Poison coc cycloner - looking for suggestions of route to take to be tankier.

    Not looking for a quick fix, more of a suggestion of something to work towards. Like if i should aim towards lots of evasion or something, maybe a chest armor suggestion that would help. I dont feel like more health is going to make much difference regarding sustain on bosses/red maps. The damage is good, and lots of room for improvements, but im not sure what would be the best route to take to be more durable for bossing/red maps.     Ice shot/Shrapnel ballista

    Hi, Im relatively new to the builds in POE. Im playing this guy's build https://pathofexilegems.com/builds/poe-3-9-artillery-shrapnel-ballista-ranger-deadeye/ and I just dont understand how is he using both ballistas in this build? Can someone pinpoint me if there is a nodes that allow that or is he just rotating both ballistas somehow?

    Best clear/bossing build

    Hello,

    I started this League as Vortex CI Occultist, but have some Problems with it.

    I am not very happy with the clearspeed and (maybe because I only have a 4-link) Boss-killing speed.

    So I wanted to know what build would be great for Mapping (till red maps at least with up to 150/200 Chaos budget wenn you improve over time). I have seen people going Mines (Icicle/Arc with a single Target setup Ice Spear or Pyroclast/ Toxic Rain), Poison builds, Bleed and Impale, others went with Bow builds but don't like the single Target Damage etc.

    What build has a good balance, that can survive this content but also go faster. Personally I don't want to play Totems or Summoner anymore and have played a lot ED/Contaigon.

    Leveling skills review 3.9

    Simple rules. No gear requirement, only items picked up off the ground and please list links. Lets hear your experiences :)

    Can't decide on a build so I've tried a few so far...

    • Ice shot + volley + chain Great for clear but horrible single target. Ended up using scourge arrow for single target.

    • elemental hit + volley + pierce just bad. Was using shock nova most of the time but even that had bad single target

    • corpse explosion + spell cascade + inspiration. This has been amazing so far, I'm only lvl 45 but it's easy af to gear since rgb 3 links show up in most filters. 1 hits every white and 2-3 hits blues/yellows. Even with self cast desecrate this has been much faster than the previous two mentioned. Highly suggested.

    So bad at zerker I accidentally an entire Chieftain

    Whoops. Minus the Warcry stuff I picked up I'm feeling like my current main in Metamorph should have been a Chieftain rather than a Berserker.

    So, I sat down wanting to play a zerker CoC Dark Pact setup utilizing the crazy damage of Breath of the Council. This league I have played around with, and settled upon Infernal Blow CoC Dark Pact. I'm having fun with it, but think I may drop Pride, swap over to Blood Magic + Mortal Conviction and just run Herald of Ash. At this time I am hopping into packs and popping Abyssal Cry while also maintaining Rallying Cry, but I'm worried going into mapping that I'll run into a wall where I've converted so much to fire damage with just a single Fire Pen support and no investment in fire damage from passives.

    I wanted to build around Breath of the Council + Chernobog's Pillar (already having elemental conversion, but I wasn't thinking that far ahead) and feel like this skill loadout capitalizes well enough on that, just maybe not my passive tree or ascendancy choices. I feel like I've gotten to the point of a level 74 character that has veered too far into elemental damage territory now, on the gear/skills side though. I had picked up various mace nodes to enhance attack damage from Breath of the Council, but with Infernal Blow and Chernobog's Pillar both converting phys to fire, would running just a Fire Penetration support be enough? Maybe change to Tectonic Slam or anything else I can use with maces and just keep Chernobog's for the added survivability the on-hit Enfeeble provides? Vaal Impurity of Fire comes to mind as well for anything that feels too tanky.

    Here is my passive tree: Confused Zerker

    I'm sitting at 30% or so crit chance, 95% accuracy and plan on focusing on max life from here on out. I feel like I could swap out Chernobog's for whatever and swap back to Heavy Strike, Ground Slam, etc instead and go back on track for physical damage, maybe swap to Chieftain and embracing maximum Infernal Blow power, could get expensive on the respec points, though!

    Any feedback appreciated. Is my passive tree bad and should I feel bad? Was my idea feasible until I threw Berserker/Infernal Blow in the mix? Thanks in advance!
