- I think the big mis-step for 3.9 was not including a robust tutorial/explanation of how to work with the new Atlas.
- With PoE2 on the horizon and Metamorph adding yet another layer of unpredictable rippiness to the game, the time is ripe for GGG to seriously consider a solution to the instant burst problem.
- The new Atlas mechanic does not support party play
- Fix servers FFS! Lost 3 instances already today
- If anyone was curious like me, the new influence items sell for normal exalt shards (had a slim hope they just might sell for Hunter exalt shards)
- The fact that I can't see what maps I don't have completed while regions are influenced REALLY sucks.

GGG, please consider visual clutter when designing new leagues and boss fights. Posted: 17 Dec 2019 11:30 PM PST I have no idea how the Sirius boss fight got approved. The entire arena is in a dark shade and you have these black/red stuff spinning around in the ground. The boss attacks are also this weird red shade which makes it a pain to actually see what the hell's going on during the fight. This boss fight is probably the worst boss fight in the game atm, up there with Vilenta's bullshit visual clutter. Almost every league has this problem, it's honestly getting frustrating right now. Betrayal had this green over green of visual clutter, and the Mastermind fight was just near unplayable because of all the green color. Metamorphs, I'm just unable to tell what killed me in most of the scenarios. If I see a black tar rushing towards me, most of the times that's all I see before getting one shotted. I would love to hear other people's opinions. Boss fights (and especially visual clutter) is getting so annoying. [link] [comments] | ||

The closest to this level of confusion I can remember was when Synthesis launched, with nobody having a clue how to synth-craft or set up the memories. At bare minimum, it could have used a textual explainer/guide (similar to the Betrayal board) if not an outright video explainer (like the ones Chris narrates for league mechanics). Posted: 17 Dec 2019 06:00 PM PST GGG, I respect that you're trying to make the game more mechanical, yet at the same time most of the content is a wild jungle in which random modifiers stacking randomly too often create sudden death at the hands of mobs that look and act the same as any other monster. This is not a feature. It is a problem. One that leads to a self-contradiction, as it uncomfortably rubs shoulders with the philosophy of creating fair bosses whose dangerous attacks are clearly represented. Yet a handful of, or even just one or two, conveniently rolled and positioned monsters can be as dangerous as Shaper, but without having to pay for that power in any way. To me, it seems only natural that players would do everything in their power to kill such enemies so quickly that, it might be argued, they don't engage with them at all. It's the safest strategy. Your recent balance changes show that you don't like this, but as you made enemies tankier, you didn't curb the unpredictable damage which is half the reason to go fast. PoE2 is on the horizon. It's now or never. I don't care what you have to do. Take all my regen, all my leech. Kill Vaal Pact. Remove life flasks from the game. Add a logout timer if you have to. Just stop with the random bursts. Half the times I die, it's due to stupidity or greed. I own those. The other half are force majeure, acts of mathematical calamity from a system that is allowed to create extreme peaks in a context where they don't belong. There's never going to be a better opportunity to make this kind of change, and you've already proven you're not afraid to shake things up. Please consider this. [link] [comments] | ||
The new Atlas mechanic does not support party play Posted: 18 Dec 2019 02:31 AM PST I haven't been able to progress much due to 3 issues so far: 1) When you first encounter Zana in your party owner's atlas you will receive the missions to explore the corner regions of the atlas, but Zana won't join your hideout unless you find the first citadel in your hideout. 2) You will have a hard time finding a citadel in your own atlas if you have explored many maps through party play in your friend's atlas because you can't possibly keep track which maps you have explored on YOUR atlas and which not. At the moment I am sitting at 2 fully explored atlas regions but no citadel found. Probably need to rerun the maps I ran in group but don't remember which ones they were... 3) When you actually DO find a citadel in your own atlas but a party member enters the Zana portal first by mistake you don't get the unlock of the citadel on your atlas similar to when you find it in someone else's map. These issues are decent proof that GGG didn't consider party play when making this new atlas mechanic so my advise for you is to abide their rule and do this shit solo until it may get fixed next league. Fix servers FFS! Lost 3 instances already today Posted: 18 Dec 2019 06:21 AM PST The server quality is absolute shitshow this league. Instances drop on hourly basis, this is unacceptable. I can't even progress my atlas because I'm losing key maps. Not to mention periodic lag waves that may easily result in RIP. So many topics on this and not even a single confirmation you are aware of it and working on it. I've lost probably 20+ instances by now since league started which is: 1) unfun 2) waste of time 3) hinders atlas progression 4) it's simply bullshit. This is angry rant you once asked for, so now do your part! Edit: so per some recommendations here, I switched to London - it seems stable (at least no instance RIP in 3h I've played on there). But Milan, Paris and Frankfurt were crashing instances since league launch and we can't expect to everyone jump on London, because it will get overloaded and that is not a solution. Hope the admins take a look at what's going on - I'm sure they log instance crashes and there should be quite a bit of them from me alone :) [link] [comments] | ||

I guess I should be thankful that it took 2,700 hours before I found something I dislike enough to make a post about. I hoped that once I understood it better that it wouldn't bother me as much but that doesn't seem to be the case. In an effort to not write a novel, here are my top 3 things that bother me about the Atlas.
More often than not, I get home from work and just wanna run a couple maps before bed. I just wanna *play*. I don't want to spend my time digging around for maps in certain areas or buying maps because I'm level 90 and my highest tier map is 5. Hoping I wake up tomorrow and someone has called me an idiot and explained what I'm doing wrong. Cheers! [link] [comments] | ||

But eventually memory use climbs to max (basically locking down the entire PC) until alt+F4 to kill the program. Sometimes this just happens over time, but there also seem to be some specific triggers, such as opening the passive tree or encountering a large group of mobs with lots of effects on screen. After restarting the game, it functions just fine for a short time until memory use climbs up again. Sometimes I have time to complete a map or two, but sometimes I can't even get a third of the way through the first map before I have to restart. Performance has been completely fine for me all league (actually, ever since I started in closed beta) until the patch last night, with no changes made on my end to pc hardware or software other than the patch.
