Metamorph marking the bosses on the minimap is awesome

    Posted: 27 Dec 2019 10:55 AM PST

I think this could be brought to the base game in some form, as knowing where my boss is in each moment of the fight is IMHO really useful, with all the clutter, boss teleporting etc.

I'd love to get some sort of a mark similar to the one the currency currently has.

The Chaos Report - Metamorph Week 1: Outcomes & New Atlas || [TEXT VERSION RELEASE]

    Posted: 27 Dec 2019 06:28 AM PST

    DISCLAIMER:

As 3.9 is not just a simple challenge league, the Chaos Reports for this league will likely be a bit longer, due to the necessity to explain the new mechanics, such as the new atlas, in-depth.

Please do be aware that these text-based posts will always be slightly late and as such might be a bit outdated (though I attempt to update values, such as current prices for items, etc.), as they are from 2-3 days ago.

Creating the Chaos Report, as a video, takes about 10 hours of work from research, script writing to editing and releasing it.

These text posts take another 2-3 hours of time, as I need to pack all the information into equally as understandable bits as the video, which means I cannot release them simultaneously, as my schedule simply doesn't allow this amount of work in 1-2 days and any further increase in the development schedule would make the information be more outdated than I'm willing to risk.

I sincerely apologize for this inconvenience, but I hope that this will still provide the desired information for everyone!

    END OF DISCLAIMER

    Hello everyone, LunaWolve here.

Welcome to the Week 1 TEXT VERSION episode of The Chaos Report for 3.9 and the Metamorph challenge league!

Do keep in mind that these are educated guesses or predictions and as such they might not be entirely accurate.

    SEGMENT 1: CURRENCIES & COMMODITIES

    Exalted Orbs are up first.

The original (OG) exalted orb, is currently sitting at about 134c, so exactly in the area I predicted at the beginning of the week, in the video version. The reduction in their prices, comperatively to last league, is a direct result of the heavy nerfs to the multi-modding craft, making the alteration/regal + multimod method a LOT less used, meaning a lot less exalts are leaving the economy and their demand is not as high as usual.

They've reached their first plateau fairly early on in the league at about 97c and stayed there for a couple of days until they started slowly rising again to their current pricepoint, accompanied by another short plateau at around 115-119c that lasted for about 2 days.

They are projected to continue rising slowly, as more and more players get to the later stages of their builds and will require some crafting currency for the rare multimods, buying expensive item bases or simply to slam them into already decent items.

I'd expect a 120-160c pricepoint by next week's episode (Tuesday), but we'll have to see how the exalted orbs progress during these turbulent first weeks.

As always, make sure to check those prices on the daily, as I can't possibly give you accurate predictions for them via a 1-per week video series.

The Hunter's Exalted Orb, which is currently the most expensive one of the new orbs, drops from The Hunter Elderslayer bossfight.

It is currently sitting at around 600c, which is the result of a DRASTIC rise in popularity of the past few days.

This is due to the low number of them currently on the market, as all the new orbs have only really been reliably obtainable for a few days, after people had started maxing out their atlas.

Additionally, there was a bug/exploit together with the Awakener Orb, which has heavily inflated the prices, so be careful if you intend to buy these right now, they might see a rapid decline, due to the hotfix that was applied recently, removing the particular bug/exploit that caused the rise in the first place.

This orb will likely stay the most expensive exalted orb in this league, as it adds the hunter influence to an item, which often times carries the best mods with it. Mods range from culling strike on gloves to ton of chaos and DoT multipliers, which are extremely popular in the current meta.

As a result don't expect them to be less expensive than the other orbs at any point during the league.

The Awakener Orb is currently sitting at around 486c and has seen a TON of use in the past 48 hours. As previously mentioned, there was a popular bug/exploit that has rapidly increase demand for this particular orb, causing the prices to spike extremely hard over the past 2 days. This bug/exploit has been corrected in the newest hotfix and as such, the Awakener Orbs are very likely going to rapidly drop down to their 300-350c price range again, over the next 1-2 days.

I'd expect this orb to be the most expensive one of the new orbs, simply because the power it provides completely, out does any other orb or crafting method in the game. Some items have already shown up with double-influence on them and absolutely insane mod combinations, so I can't wait to see what players will be able to do with this one in the near future.

Crusader's and Warlord's Exalted Orbs are sharing similarly useful modpools and as such I would expect them to dance around each other's prices for a while, as long as the meta doesn't shift drastically. The crusader orbs are currently sitting at around 335c and the Warlord's orbs are situated at around 268c. They're very useful especially for chest pieces, but there are also some useful mods on things such as rings. They'll likely share the 3rd slot for most popular exalted orb for the remainder of the league. Expect their prices to stay rather similar, at least for the first few weeks.

Similarly to the previous 2 orbs, at least one of them, the Warlord's Orb, has been affected by the bug/exploit abuse and as such, I advise caution with buying these items at the current time.

Lastly, the Redeemer's Exalted Orb. It's currently on a rather rapid decline at around 200c and is projected to fall further in the next few days. In general, the mods from the Redeemer are quite lackluster, compared to the other influence mods for most currently popular builds. However, they do offer a few very specific mods that cannot be gained anywhere else, which are giving the orbs their moderate popularity at the moment.

As a result, they were also popular candidates for the Awakener Orb exploit and have seen a short-lived bump, which is now being corrected rapidly. I'd imagine them to fall back down to their 150-200c pricepoint from the previous few days.

With the entire exalted orb section it's very hard to make predictions as of now, simply as we don't know the full extent of their powers yet. This is just a ranking I've made for myself, based on my personal opinions on each orb's mod pools. As such, if you intend on buying them, make sure to keep an eye on this EXTREMELY volatile market space and rank them in your order so you know which is the best bang for your buck.

Alteration Orbs are currently going at a 1:8.2 ration, which is very much in-line with the previous league's prices.

Despite the lower useage of the multi-modding crafting option, alteration orbs have remained at the same price. This is due to the afforementioned influence types, as players are trying to get the new super-strong influence modifiers, they'll rely on alteration+regal crafting to get them, as that's a ton cheaper than to try and get them using fossils or chaos orbs.

As a result, expect alteration orbs to go through a similar price-graph to last league. If this is indeed the case, then we can expect them to rise at around the 2-week mark to around a 1:6 or 1:5 ratio. Make sure to buy enough of them while they're still moderately cheap, as later on, with more and more players learning about the new influence types and aquiring the right bases, alteration orbs will skyrocket in demand.

If they reach the 1:6 or 1:5 ratio, make sure to pick up a few more rare items per map, as it'll be worth the time to sell them for extra alteration shards after the maps.

Ancient Orbs are last on the list, but not less important! They are currently sitting at around 35c after a rather steady price-rise and have seemed to leave their short-lived plateau for now.

This is in direct correlation to the headhunter belt not being the most optimal choice for the league mechanic and the new expansion's focus on boss killing. While the nemesis zana mod makes sure that ancient orbs stay relevant in prices, through the headhunter chancing, not nearly as many people are inclined to do so in this league, comperatively to the last.

In blight league, the ancient orb prices were at around 38c by the end of the 2nd week, and we're very likely to hit those prices by the end of the week. The Headhunter has seen a few drops as well as an extended period of plateauing, which means the ancient orb prices cannot rise further as people would not be willing to spend the money on them to chance a headhunter that might be worth less than the orbs they paid for to get it in the first place.

Another factor at play here, is that many players have decided to choose a summoner league-starter, meaning that the headhunter belt is not a good choice for a large portion of the playerbase's current characters. As a result, it is advised to hold onto your ancient orbs for the next week and see if the meta shifts after people move on from their starter builds, potentially leading into more headhunter-friendly builds, thus increasing the demand for the headhunter greatly, resulting in a price hike for the ancient orbs as well.

Additional Tip: Always remember to save up a few of them at once and sell them in bulk!

I'll quickly update you on the prices for the different maps and fragments for this week and give my predictions for the following one.

Shaper Fragments range from 40-55c, meaning that one shaper set will net you around 200c, at average. They are likely to slightly rise in the coming days, as more and more people reach the end-game and want to try their hands on the newly buffed shaper fight. This is especially true, as the two uber elder fragments this bossfight drops, are worth around 166-172c. As a result, for simply beating the shaper and having a chance for his drops, which are actually quite valuable this league, you're only really paying about 30-40c.

The Uber Elder Fragments provided by shaper are sitting at around 166-172c, while the ones provided by elder are sitting at around 37-39c. That means one uber elder set will net you about 300-350c at average. This leads to extreme prices on a lot of the uber elder-only drops, such as the Eternity shroud or the Voidfletcher. If you're willing to gamble and got a good grasp on the mechanics of uber elder, there's a ton of money to be made by running him, for now, at least.

The Elder Fragments themselves are sitting at around 20-30c each, meaning that one set will net you around 90-110c. Right now, i'd recommend running your own elder sets and selling the resulting items to other players. Especially impresences are very popular and expensive and most of them will make back your investment. Additionally, the resulting uber elder fragment will come in handy for your own attempts or selling it in the future. They're likely going to drop in the near-future however, so it might be smart to sell them for now until they reach their plateau.

Lastly, the Synthesis Unique Maps are all sitting around 35c right now. With the exception being the Cortex, which currently rests at around 100c after a short-lived pricebump to the lower 100c area.

With the additional droprate from the awakener levels, as well as the overabundance of zana master missions, T14+ maps being run and the new drops from map bosses, these maps are not likely to become super expensive this league.

This will also result in the synthesis-specific uniques to heavily drop in price, as is shown by the Bottled Faith, which sits at around 7ex, comperatively to it's last-league prices of about 20-25ex at the same point in time.

I'd recommend running them yourself, as they are quite fun and can drop some REALLY good loot, depending on your synthesis modifiers. Often times they'll have a modifier that drops a ton of quality modifying currency, which will result in a couple dozen GCPs, which are currently worth 1.5-2c each. As such, just run the maps, the bosses have decent drops and the synthesis modifiers can pay for 2-3 maps at once if you're lucky.

    SEGMENT 2: UNIQUE ITEM WATCHLIST

Unlike last league, I'll be a bit more focused with my intent for the watchlist, to provide a better viewing experience, rather than simply repeat the same things every week with different prices.

The watchlist will of course be reworked once the meta has calmed down a bit, into something you're more used to. Let me know in the comments down below what you think of this approach, as I'm trying to diversify the chaos report a little bit and make it more timing-appropriate, when I can.

From our prediction episode, we had recommended to keep an eye on the following unique items, which have sadly not turned out great:

    • Rigwald's Quills. They're sitting at around 1-2ex, but that's their normal prices this early in the league. Not as many people are playing bows as I had expected them to, so this quiver isn't quite as popular as expected.

    • Quill Rain. Similarly to the rigwald's Quills, there's just not enough bow users here to really have an impact on the prices for this item. Also, the buffs simply weren't good enough to make this item a big end-game choice.

    • Paradoxicas. Due to the insane amounts of temple-mod weapons dropping, this weapon isn't actually a necessity for melee's to function. The "Tacati" mod basically trumps this weapon in most regards, so we haven't seen any crazy prices for the weapon. Coupled with the fact that players simply aren't interested in melee in it's current state, it just doesn't have the demand for it, comperatively to it's supply.

    • Sporeguard. This chest piece, while amazing for melee and some specific other build-types, isn't exactly the best for most of the current meta-builds. Additionally, a lot of blighted maps are dropping as a result of the changes made to their droprate for the blight core implementation. As such, many more blighted maps are run, especially at higher levels, which increase the supply for this one drastically, while the meta pushes the item away from most players characters. This results in the low prices we're seeing for it right now, barely even breaching a single exalt worth. I'd highly recommend this chest-piece to aspiring melees however, it's a great option, especially at this cheap pricepoint.

As a result of these items performing poorly so far, we'll not be talking about them in-depth any further. I'll update you if they happen to become more popular with any future meta-shifts.

The Hyrri's Ire unique body armour is the first item on our list.

As predicted, this chest piece is an extremely popular choice for bow builds, as it represents the single largest flat damage increase of any body armour in the game and also synergizes extremely well with the raider ascendancy, as well as the Phase Acrobatics and Acrobatics keystone nodes, which are taken by nearly all bow builds in the game.

With the league having such a heavy focus on boss killing, high-flat damage body armours to increase the overall DPS dealt, are very popular among the harder to gear for builds, such as starter bows. This has resulted in the current 173c pricepoint for this chest piece. It has been slowly dropping over the last day or two, but I'd imagine it will hold comperatively steady for the next little while, especially as more people start to switch away from their starter builds towards potential bow-focused builds, leading to an increase in demand for it.

There is no way to really farm this item, except for always choosing the unique body armour option on metamorphs, so unfortunately there's no way to profit off of it, without flipping. As a result, we'll keep an eye on it, to see how the meta progresses, but we'll most likely not keep it in future iterations of the watchlist.

Next up, the Double Socketed Tombfists.

Similarly as predicted, the tombfists are extremely popular among attack builds, however, they have seen a rather turbulant few days. This is likely due to the new influence mods and the new awakened support gems, partially offering better solutions to the same problems the tombfist is trying to fix.

We're very likely not going to see a similar price to those seen in the last league, but we can still expect it to stick around a 150-300c pricepoint for the next little while.

Similarly to the hyrri's ire, it might also get a huge bump in popularity after the first starter builds get phased out and players start up their attack-based mains.

To farm, i'd recommend buying up a ton of sextants and sextanting your watchstones to try and get as many guaranteed Abyss' as possible. The new Awakened Sextant even has a mod that gives you 2 abysses per map, instead of the usual 1. Make sure to run those abysses on T16 maps and remember that you can unsocket the watchstone and replace it with another, if you aren't running T16s, for later useage.

The Voidflechter unique quiver is up next on the list.

This quiver is incredibly expensive at the current moment in time, as it's locked behind the uber elder bossfight, which is the hardest bossfight to access in the current game version, aside from maybe aul. As mentioned in the comoddity section, each attempt to get this item, will cost about 300-350c. This leads to a new minimum pricepoint for all the popular Uber Elder uniques, as they're bound to the minimum average attempts to get any certain item.

Right now, the quiver sits at around 870c, meaning you have about 2 1/2 tries to get it yourself if you intend on running uber elders to farm this one. It is fairly unlikely that you'll get this quiver around 30-40% of the time, so I'd recommend buying it instead for the price it currently has, rather than buying fragments and trying to get it yourself.

For those uninitiated with this quiver, let me fill you in why it's so popular this league: The quiver itself shoots shotgunnable arrows based on your projectile count that travel outwards to a specific distance and then explode after a short while. These arrows each deal about 220% base damage, so with a high investment into projectile count, as well as base damage, you'll be able to deal TREMENDOUS amounts of single target damage, with ANY bow ability in the game.

This can turn pretty much any bow setup into a decent boss-killer all by itself. With such a heavy focus on boss-killing this league and expansion provide, it's easy to see why it has such a large pricepoint at the moment.

We're likely going to see this unique stick around this pricepoint at least for a bit of time, as long as the uber elder fragments themselves are staying at the current pricepoints. As a result, make sure to check both the fragments as well as the unique item on a regular basis to figure out whether or not they'll drop soon, if you intend on obtaining either one.

Their prices are, to a degree, dependant on each other.

The last unique on the list for today is the Death's Opus unique bow.

As predicted, this bow has become one of the most expensive weapons in the entire game, currently sitting at around 1.3-1.5exalted orbs each or around 175c. This is due to the projectile increase which has been a factor of balance for GGG in the recent bow update, meaning that more projectile are often times a large upgrade over simply having a tiny bit more damage.

To aquire this bow, you'll have to get a Death's Harp and find the prophecy called "The Bowstring's Music". As such, make sure to keep your prophecies filled up as you're mapping and make sure to seal the prophecy for selling or use it together with the bow and finish it, depending on whether you want the currency immediately or are willing to wait a bit for some more.

Outside of that, you can also try to force the prophecy to spawn through prophecy spamming. The bowstring's music is one of the more common prophecies, so it shouldn't be TOO hard to aquire it through this way. Silver coins can currently be bought for about a 1:5.5 ratio, so do the calculations and weigh your options accordingly. Can you get the prophecy in around 6-700 prophecies? Your RNG, your choice.

This bow will likely continue to slowly drop, but mostly stick around the 1ex pricepoint for a while, as it's going to be relevant for some end-game builds as well as it represents a good and solid starter option for many other bow builds that might come up in the next following week, as more players will move on from their starters.

SEGMENT 3: META & ATLAS ANALYSIS

I predicted that we'd see a lot of bow builds over the course of the league with the new updates that archetype has received... As you can see, that hasn't really happened yet. It is still possible that this will be the case later on in the league's lifetime, but for the first week and a half of the meta, we see two archetypes HEAVILY dominate the current meta.

While the stats presented here might not SEEM like there's any imbalance in archetype, as the highest percentage of use of a single skill we can find sits at a comfortable 10% with summon skeletons, if we actually take a look at the overall distribution of archetype-related skills, we'll see that summoners HEAVILY dominate this league, as they did last league.

Taking all the summoner skills combined, they're currently sitting at around a 26% playrate in the meta. This means one out of every four characters is a summoner. This is also represented by the 24% usage stat for the necromancer ascendancy, which is closely followed by 17% for the saboteurs. This heavy increase for the saobteur ascendancy is pretty much exclusively due to the recently buffed Arc being a fan favorite.

It is used by 34% of all saboteur players and then followed by 19% pyroclast and 16% ball lightning. As a result, you can see that most players, around 50% of them, are either summoners or some amalgamation of miners or trappers.

This makes minion focused items and mods extremely worthwhile, as well as generic spell-damage increases, as there seems to be a high amount of spell users this league as well. Make sure to target those particular nieches for your current crafting, if you want to make a ton of currency.

For the future meta, I'm expecting a slight meta shift towards more attack-based builds, as more players will phase out their low-budget summoner or miner starters and start to invest into their actual mains for this league. As a result, I'd expect those numbers to drop over the course of the next few weeks, however, as the ladder only shows the highest levels, we'll only really see changes in 2-3 weeks.

My recommendation: Keep crafting those same items for a while until you see a drop in demand and then move over to generic attack or Cast on Crit based crafts.

As for the Atlas Analysis, it's quite the mess.

At the moment, there are no real strategies that have been developed, outside of simply full-clearing the atlas and then setting up your favorite sector with your favorite maps and running those to make your currency. For the general atlas strategy, you want to use as many fully socketed citadels as you can handle. The awakener bonuses are INCREDIBLY potent, as shown here on the screen.

Not only are you getting a huge amount of sustain for your maps from it, due to the 8% chance to drop additional map currency and connected map drops from map bosses, but you'll also gain a TON of currency from all the different things this increases the drops of. The shaper and guardian maps themselves, that drop at T14+, are worth an absolute roa-load of currency, as well as many of the iLvL 85 influence types that you'll have a 40% increased chance off dropping in influenced maps being worth multiple exalted orbs.

Furthermore, the 24% increased effect of Modifiers on non-unique maps is an incredibly high multiplier to the pack size and item quanitity each map provides. Only stats on the map itself are increased by this stat, things such as scarabs, sextants or prophecies are not affected. One interesting aspect to this, is that blighted maps that are annointed with "lucky chests" are also affected by this.

As a result, it's possible to get something close to 11-12 lucky chests per blighted map, making nearly all chests in the map be super valuable. Blighted maps in general have been extremely valuable due to their increased loot drop rate and the easier way to access them to past leagues.

My personal recommended sectors to farm are Lira Arthain, Lex Ejoris and Lex Proxima. Those 3 sectors provide a good variety of layouts that are extremely easy and valuable to run, as well as offering the ability to drop high-level unique maps, such as high-tier Poorjoys or Cowards Trials.

One additional recommendation is that I HEAVILY advise running at least t14+ maps. Don't waste the bonus drops of guardian and synthesis maps by running lower tier maps.

This is not the old atlas we're running here, where often times lower-tier maps were better, due to their faster run-time. Run the highest maps you can handle, they'll give you the most currency for now.

A closing word on the atlas situation:

The new atlas, especially the higher-tier scaling, is ROUGH. If you build CANNOT handle the higher tiers, don't blame the game developers, don't blame the game or anything else. Spend more time upgrading your characters and making better builds instead. There are many people complaining that they can't reach T16s in the first week cause they keep dying. This is intended, it is not an oversight or a bug. The game is more rewarding than ever, at higher tiers and as a result NEEDS to be more challenging as well, otherwise the economy would experience a heavy inflation.

For newer players and more casual players, this means that sometimes you'll simply have to accept that your build is not strong enough, either at the current or ever, to reach those higher tier maps or bosses. It's a hard pill to swallow, if you've been able to do so before, but rest assured that this will change in the future with more power creep being introduced in future leagues and expansions.

Learning how to be better at the game, both in terms of mechanical play as well as theoretical knowledge will VASTLY benefit you over simply going to reddit and complaining about not being able to clear maps or bosses. Ask around, read the wiki or simply spend some extra time experimenting to get to those higher levels. Enjoy the experience while it lasts, because it won't last long.

Soon, all this content will likely be as easy as it used to be before this expansion.

What I'm trying to say is this: Don't get frustrated. Stay at your comfort level, where you can clear maps and get some currency and upgrades before you move on. Gone are the times where you can just cruise through the leveling, instantly get into maps and simply buy your way up to the T16 maps and clap them with your leveling gear. Most builds now require ACTUAL investment and time.

So, take that time and embrace ACTUALLY feeling your character progress.

    SEGMENT 5: STRATEGY & DISCUSSION

When you first arrive at the new endgame, you'll be greeted by a new, yet short, storyline following Kirac. Do his quests and he'll lead you to your hideout in which you'll rebuild the Map Device.

Unlike the previous leagues, you'll find YOURSELF in the center of the atlas, instead of starting from the outside. To progress your atlas, you will first have to find and "unlock" the 4 new minor bosses of this expansion, the Elderslayers.

To do so, work your way towards the 4 outer areas of the atlas, namely:

    • Haewark Hamlet (Top Left)
    • Lex Ejoris (Top Right)
    • New Vastir (Bottom Left)
    • Lira Arthain (Bottom Right)

Once you've reached these areas and run a couple of maps in them, you'll start to get influence on your atlas (depicted by blue/red/yellow or green background on the respective area, instead of the default gray). Continue running maps in the area and talk to Kirac and Zana in your hideout, when they have an exclamation point above their heads.

This will lead you to the Citadel where you fight the Elderslayer and obtain your first Watchstone. Do this for all four corners, as each corner can only spawn a single Elderslayer at the beginning.

After aquiring all 4 different colored watchstones from the corner areas, you're free to explore the atlas to your liking and progress into more and more difficult maps.

To increase the level of your maps, simply socket the watchstones into the citadel of your choosing. This will upgrade all maps in that area by 3-4 levels, for each watchstone you put into the citadel. Once all 4 have been inserted into any given citadel, you will also aquire your first Awakening Level, granting you a ton of different bonuses that were described in the atlas analysis section earlier in the video.

To progress your atlas properly, you need to know a few mechanics about the atlas, which have not changed since last league:

    • Maps cannot drop other maps that aren't completed on your atlas and aren't directly adjacent to it.
    • Maps cannot drop other maps that are too high of a tier compared to the tier of map that you ran. This is usually 3-4 tiers above, depending on your atlas completion bonus.
    • Completed maps will be able to drop regardless of map run, as long as the tier of the dropped map is lower, equal or up to 3-4 tiers higher, depending on the atlas completion bonus.
    • Maps stay completed, even when upgraded to higher tiers, if they have been completed before.

With those four major rules in place, progress should be quite obvious:

Stock up on as many T4 maps as you can get early, as you do not need to use any watchstones for those, and then put one watchstone into your desired area which has completed maps, leveling them up to T6+. Then, run your old T4 maps and wait until you get the new T6 version, of the maps you've already completed. You will then be able to take those new, higher tier, versions of the maps you've previously completed, to unlock the new adjacent and previously hidden, maps of the higher tiers.

Then you continue this process for any higher tiers you want to reach throughout your atlas.

A quick and simple way to set up your first 4 watchstones, is to set it up in a 1-1-2 configuration. Place two of the watchstones into individual citadels and the remaining two in the same one.

This allows you to run the base-tier of maps, to get more T4s if needed, have a large selection of higher-level T6s to drop, as well as already preparing the potential future drops for the T9+ areas, as you're progressing through the T6+ area.

You continue doing this and upgrading your character as you go, while also continously hunting for elderslayer. Hover of the left side of the atlas, where you can find the storage for your watchstones. They will highlight the specific sectors of the atlas that they belong to and will also tell you how many watchstones are required in the area to spawn a particular Exile encounter. Simply move around your watchstones to meet whatever requirements you can, while you're progressing.

Once you've aquired 20 total watchstones in this fashion, you'll get to fight Sirus for the first time. This bossfight is hard and it will take time to figure it out properly. Don't get frustrated and don't give into the blind hatred that reddit has been perpetuating about this fight. It's a lot more fair and a lot easier than people make it out to be. Take your time and learn the mechanics. This boss will be around for a long time and we only get one new endboss once every few years. So, enjoy this time of no knowledge and the learning process, as long as you still can. This is gonna be old content by next league, and the league after, and the league after that.

Or... look up a guide on how to beat him, it will definitely help, if you're not into the whole "learning experience" thing.

With the basics covered, let's move onto a few advanced tips for the atlas progression:

    • Make absolutely sure to check your Zana shop to buy any maps you might require. Especially this league, it's doubly important because she can sell Guardian Maps as well as Synthesis maps now too.

    • You can remove watchstones to force-spawn specific map drops of a given sector. For example, if you're trying to get a ton of maps for Lira Arthain, simply remove all over watchstones that provided the same tier to other sectors of the atlas. This will force all T14-16s that drop, to be Liar Arthain maps, simply because there are no other maps of the same tier completed on the atlas at the time. This should help tremendously with the RNG gated watchstones past the 20 mark.

    • Complete as many awakening bonuses as possible, as each one gives you another .5% chance to drop a higher tier map. It's a big bonus and helps a lot with higher-tier map sustain.

    • When you're about to fight Sirus or any of the elderslayers, make sure to fully-socket as many citadels as you can, as each awakening level will increase the loot provided by the bosses. Be aware however, that you'll be facing more dangerous opponents as a result. Don't forget to take them out afterwards, so you don't break your target-farm on a sector.

    • Post 20 watchstones, you want to make sure to only run the sectors that you KNOW will spawn an exile that will drop a watchstone. So check the storage area often, to make sure you got the right number of watchstonesin the right areas and are running the maps for that sector. You don't want to accidentally spawn an influence in an area you've already completed, as this will block that influence from appearing again until the sirus cycle has passed, basically putting you 1 watchstone behind the curve.

    • If your build is powerful enough, working your way through the atlas at the highest tier possible, seemed to have the fastest progression, as you can simply run T16s and 15s to drop the lower T11-14s. It's always easier to drop lower tier maps than you're running, comperatively to dropping higher tiers. As a result, if you can handle it, i'd advise getting to high-tier maps as soon as possible, to simplify your progression to a few tiers, rather than having it spread over 150 maps and 10-12 different tiers.

With those tips concluded, I hope you have gained a deeper understanding on the atlas system for this league. This was more of an overview than an in-depth strategy discussion, but I figured it would be helpful. If you have any questions regarding the atlas, feel free to leave a comment down below. I'll get to them ASAP!

I'll be covering more in-depth farming and currency making strategies, similar to the blight and legion discussion sections, starting next week.

SEGMENT 6: DELVE UPDATE + RAPIDFIRE TIPS & TRICKS

The Weekly Delve Update, as delving is still one of the best ways to make a large amount of currency in the game.

Looking back on my predictions from last week, I can definitely say that I have absolutely underestimated the popularity of summoner league starters. As a result my predictions are incomplete, however, they still caught a lot of the current ongoings quite nicely. As such, I'll be updating you on the prices and my recommendations:

The best fossils to farm are currently Corroded, Aetheric, Bound, Prismatic, Serrated and Shuddering. Perfect and Pristine fossils are following closely after.

As a result of this ranking, my recommendation changes as well. The area you should focus on to make the most possible money through selling your fossils to other players will be the Petrified Forst first and the Sulphur Vents second. They drop primarily Bound, Corroded and Aetheric, Perfect fossils respectively.

Frozen Hollows are still a very decent money-making choice however, especially due to their farming simplicity, as the fractured walls are easy to find and get to.

The current prices for this week's top fossils are as follows:

    • Corroded Fossils are going for 14c
    • Serrated Fossils are up to 10c and on the rise.
    • Shuddering Fossils have also shot up to about 9c.
    • Aetheric, Bound, Perfect and Prismatic fossils are going for 7c each.
    • Pristine Fossils are on the rise towards the 4c pricepoint.

Happy fossil hunting and good luck in your delves!

    • Craft Ghastly and Searching eye jewels for others.

Get yourselves some iLvL83+ bases, to alteration/regal craft some nice eye jewels.

Aim for T2+ life/es rolls, in addition to either T2+ Flat damage or T1 generic rolls.

Generic rolls include (but aren't limited to): - Crit Multi - Attack Speed - Minions tauning, blinding or hindering enemies

Defensive and Utility jewels are also very popular, so if you can get 2-3 Attributes or multiple resist rolls in addition to your Life/ES roll, they can be worth a decent sum.

As a general rule of thumb, don't spend more than 5-10c worth of alteration orbs+regals on a jewel. It's better to sell many 10-50c jewels than hit ONE super high-value jewel.

    • Flip maps from Zana's Shop.

Zana's shop resets every time you complete one of her Atlas Missions, regardless of tier.

As a result, make sure to check the shop every time you find her in a map or use her daily/master missions. Most T11-14s are worth buying and simply selling back to other players. Often times netting 5-10c for each individual map flipped this way.

In addition, it also allows you to get a ton of guardian and synthesis maps. Shuffeling the zana shop is a very valuable strategy at the moment, especially with the ton of white-maps and master missions that most players have still built up from their early atlas progression.

And with those last few tips wrapped up, I'll be ending this chaos report. I hope this post was informative and you learned something from it that you can apply to your own game.

Please let me know if I missed anything or you'd have wanted me to talk about anything in specific that I might not have covered.

Awakener fight overview/opinion from a tank build perspective + some tips

    Posted: 27 Dec 2019 08:29 AM PST

A lot of people are struggling to kill the boss. I like tanky builds and Sirus has rather low top-damage which makes the fight very trivial past certain point of your defences. You can avoid all of his skills if you have fast movement but if you can just tank there is no need to dodge any skills except telegraphed lasers.

All damage info assumes chaos immunity (CI), 75% resists and 0% physical reduction.

    General tips & info

    • There are no adds at all. You will never refill flasks by killing during the fight.
    • You will get some vaal skill souls for damaging the boss.
    • All except long telegraphed Sirus's skills damage is lower than a T16 Shaper Guardian.
    • While damaging Sirus, you will want to always stay near him and walk around. His skills are straightly fired projectiles at fixed target direction. You can avoid all of them by rotating around him. The further away you are from him the harder it will be to see him and avoid the lasers. Sirus will occasionally flame dash, follow him immediately.
    • During most of the fight, you will see 2 Siruses. 1 small on the ground and 1 big one in the air. Only the small one is targetable. During some abilities, you will see multiple small Siruses but only 1 of them is real - it will have a health bar.
    • Your damage doesn't matter. I killed Sirus deathlessly with only 200k DPS.
    • Each phase Sirus will start to use a new ability.
    • Sirus heals 25% of his max life at the start of the last phase. So in total you need to deal 125% of his base life.
    • When Sirus is transitioning to the next phase run out immediately to the left or top because he will be untargetable and fire multiple skills under himself.
    • At the beginning of each phase, storms will move away from the circle where Sirus is standing. This is the safe zone, don't go outside it.

    normal single lasers

    • The most common skill.
    • 2-4k damage.
    • Sirus is vulnerable during this skill, the best damage window for players.
    • Has ~2s cooldown, used at very stable time intervals.
    • Sirus will occasionally flame dash.
    • Very easy to get the rhytm. Damage Sirus and walk around him while he fires the beam. Repeat all the time.

    corridor

    • Creates a blocked in corridor and shoots projectiles that alternate between the left and right side of the corridor.
    • Projectiles can be avoided by dodging manually or running to the end of the corridor and underneath Sirus.
    • The best strategy is to just dash through Sirus which will cause him to interrupt the skill.

    Telegraphed beams #1

    • Sirus will say "Die." and fire multiple red lasers in 1 direction.
    • 10-15k damage if you take all beams.
    • Avoid just like normal beams by walking around Sirus.

    Telegraphed beams #2 (more dangerous)

    • Sirus will say "You will long for NONEXISTENCE" or "Feel the thrill of THE VOID" etc, then during CHANGED VOICE fire multiple different color beams spread in an ~20 degree angle.
    • Each beam deals damage of a single element and applies a corresponding status ailment. You want to be immune to freeze, poison and corrupted blood. The bleed is strong, can't be outregenerated.
    • If you tank all you will take <15k damage.
    • Strategy: dash to change your angle against Sirus just before he CHANGES VOICE

    meteor + maze

    • Each cast of the skill, ALL party members will be teleported to the middle of the battle, regardless of their position in the instance.
    • Time to escape the meteor is based on the placements of the exits (you get more time if exits are spread away)
    • ~7k dmg only, does not seem to depend on the distance from Sirus.
    • Sirus is invulnerable during Meteor. No damaging opportunity here but if you can tank it and use a skill with upfront damage like mines/traps/BV you can just load the skill.
    • +30-40% movement speed is enough to always escape the meteor. Otherwise use quicksilver.
    • Can not use movement skills to move past maze walls. Can use movement skills to move inside the maze.
    • Sometimes the last maze exit points to the big storm. GGG should fix this. Too small safe zone space.

Spinning beams (occurs only in last phase)

    • When Sirus is preparing to start 4-laser spin, the 4 charching beams exactly match initial positions of the beams. After activation, beams always spin counter-clock-wise.
    • Spinning beams will be present majority of the time during 4th phase. You want to avoid them by teleporting skills like Flame Dash. Leap Slam will not avoid the damage. Damage Sirus whenever possible.
    • Spinning beams will run independently from Sirus actions. You will have to avoid them while also dodging lasers.
    • Spinning beams apply Corrupted Blood.

    Desolation (ground effect)

The ugly parts that should be changed

    • Transitions between phases are very unclear. Just walk away to the left/top of the zone and wait for him to stop. That's a straight downgrade from Shaper's dialogue and teleport.
    • Desolation is invisible. GGG, get the guy who made Baran's mana squares and put it's color here.
    • The big Sirus in the air may occasionally visually cover Meteor escapes.
    • FUCK THE RAILING ON THE STAIRS - if you fight near the stairs you can be blocked from escaping meteor (GGG surely did not test the fight), my build facetanks meteor anyway

How to prepare for the fight:

    • Your build can not rely on defensive flasks unless you are a Pathfinder or have other form of stable charge generation without killing. This includes removal of various negative statuses unless your damage is so high that you are sure 2-4 uses of each anti-debuff flask is enough.
    • Must-have checklist:
      • Corrupted Blood immunity (best option: corrupted jewel implicit)
      • Poison immunity (best options: Pantheon minor god power, CI)
      • Freeze immunity
      • Dash skill that teleports the player (no jumps like leap slam, otherwise you won't avoid spinning beams) (best option: Flame Dash)
    • Expect a shit drop.
    • If your build is slow and can not escape Meteor or some beams go for defence instead. The entire fight is very trivial if you have a strong, stable regen/leech and are immune to Corrupted Blood. Having high damage will not change anything apart from reducing fighting time, but having defences past certain point lets you tank meteor, spinning beams and partially take telegraphed beams.

    My overall opinion

    • Dialogues: Good, but Baran is better, 8/10
    • Visibility: 2/10
    • Color choices: 1/10
    • Clearness of the fight mechanics: 3/10

New highest theoretical gem level: Level 43 Icicle Mine

    Posted: 27 Dec 2019 06:56 AM PST

    TL;DR

    -Level 21 Pyroclast/Icicle mine

-Hands of the High Templar with +1 to socketed gems and +2 to socketed Mine, Aura, Projectile and AoE gems

-Level 4 empower (becomes level 5)

-two level 5 Awakened Support Gems (Added cold/fire + added chaos)

-Staff with +3 to all cold/fire spell skill gems and +2 to all spell skill gems

-Hunter/redeemer amulet with +1 to cold and +1 to intelligence or Hunter/warlord with +1 to fire and +1 to intelligence

    Longer explanation:

The key are the Hands of the High Templar unique gloves. With perfect corruptions they can grant +1 gem level to all socketed gems in addition to +2 level to 4 of the following: Projectile, AoE, Mine, Aura, Duration and Curse gems. Since all Mines gems are also Aura gems looking for those on https://poegems.com is the best option we have.

Unfortunately there are 2 gems which match 4 of those tags (Icicle Mine and Pyroclast Mine, both with Projectile, Aoe, Mine and Aura), but they lack the Minion tag, which could potentially give us +2 gem levels thanks to the Necromancer ascendancy.

On the other hand, Summon Skitterbots is a minion and has 3 tags (AoE, Aura and Mine), which makes it so we could alternatively use one of the two gems (although hitting 3 of those corruptions on the gloves is much easier to achieve than 4). We'll see now why we sadly can't.

The skills we will support them with will be a level 4 Empower (which becomes level 5 because of the +1 levels from the corruption, granting a total of +4 levels), and two Awakened Support Gems, in this case Awakened Added Cold/Fire plus Awakened Added Chaos which, at level 5, will increase the supported skill's level by 1 each. But because Skitterbots doesn't hit it can't be supported by flat added damage gems, leaving our dear mine spiders out of the game.

    This leaves us with a whopping level 36 Icicle/Pyroclast Mine (21 + 9 + 4 + 2).

We can improve this further with a +5 Staff, which grants +3 to all Cold/Fire spell skill gems and +2 to all spell skill gems, and a Hunter + Redeemer influenced amulet, which can grant +1 level to Intelligence and +1 level to Cold skill gems (instead of Redeemer use Warlord for Pyroclast)

We end up with a level 36 + 5 + 2 = Level 43 Icicle/Pyroclast Mine, but only in theory since gem level is hard capped at 40.

Correct me if I'm wrong but this might be the first time we have reached this cap, closest being Necromancer in Blight with level 39!

Edit: removed Stormblast as one of the options since I missed that it lacks the Projectile tag.
