PSA There is an active exploitable and repeatable bug that allows you to roll back your entire inventory.

    Posted: 05 Jan 2020 05:09 AM PST

A few days ago I discovered a bug by accident that allows me to crash a very specific instance with a 100% success rate (with full inventory and stash rollback).

People could potentially be abusing this to craft t1 items without losing any currency or risk bricking items. Everything can be rolled back to its initial state before you entered the instance. For example you could Vaal an item, and then crash the instance if the result was undesirable. The item will re-appear in your inventory (non-corrupted), as will the Vaal orbs. It can be setup very quickly and efficiently with virtually no cost.

So far I've tested it four times over the course of several days, and it worked every single time (had to make sure it was a bug + record a video).

I reported this bug to GGG but have not seen a response, so I'm posting it here for better visibility. The bug is still active as of this moment, and has a decent potential to be discovered by other people. If anyone with a confirmed GGG account reads this send me a msg and I'll give you in-depth info + my account.

edit: someone from GGG contacted me and has gotten the info now on how to reproduce it

GGG should re-release the Koala pet for the AUS bush fires

    Posted: 04 Jan 2020 08:06 PM PST

The original pet was released for Australia day 2015 with 10% of proceeds going to the Australian Koala Foundation

Currently Australia is on fire (No joke, look it up)

With an estimated 480 million animals lost & some of the worst affected are the population of Koalas as there primary food source of eucalyptus trees are extremely flammable

GGG should re-release (With Charans consent as he designed the pet originally) the Koala & either put some of the proceeds to the Australian fire service volunteers or the original koala foundation

FWIW: I own said pet & could care less about "exclusive items" (It's not like it's from a supporter pack)

*edit; If exclusivity ever became a problem you could always name this one with a (2020) tag or something.

    Sirus, the who?

    Posted: 05 Jan 2020 12:21 PM PST

    TL;DR

SPOILER about end game lore introduced in 3.9 patch.

There is a lot of... feedback about Sirus's fight, I am gonna wrote about the storytelling part, which in my opinion is much greater disaster.

GGG's has recently published presentation about storytelling.

    Shortly what went wrong:

    1. Sirus is introduced (somehow) by Baran and after completing Watchstones cycle Zana is basically telling you to get ready to fight him. I got to the lore text in which Zana's explained that she thought Sirus died in Elder's fight after actually defeating Sirus.
    2. Why is he called "the Awakener of Worlds"? I have no idea.
    3. What is his motivation? Escaping the atlas, very well. Destroying Oriath, ok, some kind of revenge? To feel something, he feels urge to revenge in first place, yet at least it was presented before the fight. Pure madness, I hope not, because it is rather underwhelming.
    4. In general, if you make a new end-game villain for your game and he dies in first encounter, it simply doesn't feel as accomplishment for player (unless you failed your first several encounters).
    5. Hands up, if the biggest surprise for you was the destruction of an entire Oriath. This fight simply didn't feel like the end of the world at all, Sirus feels puny in comparision to (example) Kitava.
    6. Personality. "How boring and small" - my personal feeling - is the most cringy dialogue in game. In general, does Sirus personify PoE player in GGG's eyes? Or is he a memorial to all HC players that died "safe" in Zana's bubble?

Anyway, I am gonna present a simple feedback, trying to reduce required new assets to minimum (however, I believe new dialogues are required). Shortly: more Sirus's encounters. Thankfully there are 8 Watchstone's cycles to develop serious storyline about Sirus.

    1. Baran should mention Sirus one Watchstone's cycle earlier (so we will have to defeat Baran once again before encountering Sirus). It would trigger quest: Ask Zana about Sirus. Zana would introduce Sirus, says that Baran is probably falling to madness, yet promise to search atlas for signs that Sirus is alive. That's it, it can be part of Elderslayers quest.
    2. "Friendly" encounter: Zana tells us that she found an anomaly and we have to check it. We enter wide map (imagine jungle valley) and after slashing through monsters for a while we find a Sirus, cutscene starts: he drops some enigmatic words (ex. "As I was once told... you don't belong here. Run along.") or nothing at all; and spawns our beloved dark storms (which instantly kills nearby group of monsters). One is following us, rest are stationary: our mission is to maneuver back to the portal. That's it: we are now aware of Sirus being alive and our next step is to kill Sirus... NOPE. We are now trying to find out his plans. In addition this encounter would prepare players by introducing storms.
    3. Atlas encounter: after the next Watchstone's cycle Zana announces that she located Sirus's hideout (?) and send us to investigate it. Anyway we search the location to find the evidence that Sirus has almost completed his map device, which spawns Sirus and trigger a fight. It can be easier version of Oriath or... the fight that will explain why Sirus is called the Awakener of Worlds (high budget required though and a lot of imagination from GGG's side). Anyway, we drop him to 10% and he does the most classic player's move: heals up to full hp over 0.1 seconds, he drops some cringy text and destroys the entire world (lasers to the ground, boom, void, classic Zana rescuing us with bubble/portal). It would be also a great moment for Zana to mention that Atlas is making Sirus so powerful (which would later explain our victory in Oriath).
    4. Oriath encounter: right now we teleports after Sirus, move up with stairs and then leave laboratory with doors. Imagine: we teleport in, move stairs up and... we are in the middle of perfectly razed to the ground Oriath. Only tilesets and debris (not obstructing pathing), no extra resources needed. Some greater debris would limit area to the huge circular area. Bonus: no more issues with stairs/path blocking!
    5. Motivation. I would personally go with death desire over pure empty madness or revenge. Knowing that he feels nothing and can't die in Atlas, he desperately tries to escape it. He threatens/destroys Oriath to trick/force us into killing/freeing him from eternal madness.

There is a lot of potential, and I hope that following Shaper, Sirus's storyline will be further developed by GGG.
