Let's appreciate that fact metamorph might be the first full-length league in years

    Posted: 17 Feb 2020 06:25 AM PST

Still, relatively healthy player count around the last month and there's no flashback event to steal player numbers. Usually, one league is actually two-month-long since it's borderline unplayable during the last month.

Fighting Hillock in the twilight strand might be PoE's best melee experience. Can this be translated to the rest of the game?

    Posted: 17 Feb 2020 10:53 AM PST

I don't mean this to be a "lul melee iz ded. GGG hates melee lululul" meme. I was doing a "spend currency on a dumb end of league build" yesterday and while leveling the character I realized that was the most interesting melee fight I'd had in a while. And I played "melee" (dominating blow) all league.

Hillock's swings are well telegraphed and the hitbox feels very tight and fair. You're encouraged to move between attacks balancing offence with avoidance and there are no huge AoEs that you have to just haul ass out of range to avoid.

His attacks are chunky enough to be threatening (if you're not chugging flasks) but you're never one shot by them. It felt fair when I took damage. I got hit and lost 20ish percent of my HP. A solid incentive to not do it again but not so punishing that it feels BS or like I can't learn by playing.

When he goes to the 2nd stage, it's a real escalation of the fight, not just pointless immunity/HP checkpoints to be sure players can't OHKO him (not like you can at level 1 anyhow).

It's very weird to me that a prime example of engaging arpg combat is at the very beginning and then almost never seen again.

Why is Fragment of Shape more rare than Knowledge?

    Posted: 17 Feb 2020 08:14 AM PST

Just a real annoying pet peeve. I consistently get 3x as many fragments of knowledge as the fragments of shape when mass killing Shaper. With that and looking at the price differential, it's obviously weighted. Why the heck is that even necessary? It's already a uber pain in the rear to put together everything for Uber Elder. Weighting the frags that drop from Shaper/Elder is complete overkill.

Can anyone explain why I'm getting fake offers for Goldim from Korean players?

    Posted: 17 Feb 2020 06:52 AM PST

I'm completely bemused and can't find an explanation anywhere, but for the last 5 days I've had Goldrims listed (I dump uniques in a quad tab then check their value with Exilence, so I list a fair few things in 3's or 4's as a result) and I've had upwards of 25 Korean players request to buy, show up at my hideout, put the Chaos in...then not accept the trade.
I've tried asking why, I had to raise the price to try and stop my chat pinging 100 times a second with messages (I stopped accepting offers from Korean players after a few failed attempts because it was becoming quite annoying).

Is there a specific market manipulation going on? Is it just a meme I don't get? I've not experienced anything like it and while I'm resolved now just to ignore trade requests for that one specific item from an entire nationality of players, I'm so curious about why it's happening :/

Are there other games you’ve poured thousands of hours into?

    Posted: 17 Feb 2020 03:27 AM PST

For me the only games I've played more than a thousand hours are probably diablo 2 and 3. I've previously played LoL but in recent years I've found myself needing a sense of character progression that lasts more than 40 minutes. Be either via skill points or loot or whatever. I tried grim dawn a couple of times but didn't really feel it. Maybe because it didn't really feel like a proper multiplayer game which I'm also fond of. Are there other games which you have played a shit ton? Doesn't have to be RPG related. Just curious what people are playing.

My first video - Gambling arrogance of the vaal cards

    Posted: 17 Feb 2020 01:00 PM PST

Since the league is kinda over. I decided to make a short - gamble video. Its not something I would recommend. Cards are hard to farm - T16 map +100 Quant + divination scarab and I got only 7 cards in 20 maps. Bought the cards for between 3-6 chaos. Definetly not profitable. if you want to see my outcomes this is the video link - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nIjNLn3L8c8&t= hopefully u will like it. Since this is my first video any feedback would be helpful, or any ideas what to gamble next. Thanks for taking your time.

Orb of Enchantment - My proposed change to make lab enchantments less of a chore

    Posted: 17 Feb 2020 01:18 PM PST

    Hey guys,

since I've started a new build again and had to go on a lab enchantment farm (and still have to farm more...) I thought about how GGG could help us out a bit.

The idea was to introduce an Orb of Enchantment. There could be some possible versions for it but I thought about something along the lines of:

    • Enchant an item or override an enchantment
    • Drop-restricted to lab
    • Make an uber version of the orb for Uber-Lab enchantments - blocking merc enchantments - Drop restricted to Uber-Lab
    • (Give it a higher chance to reroll the same skill for balancing - like switching from abyssal cry duration to abyssal cry damage) not sure about that one, might have to be more common than?
    • Not too rare, like once every 5-10 labs on average

Maybe there is something I'm missing about that but I think it could help us get the enchantments a bit faster without making it too easy

Returning after a long hiatus, advice?

    Posted: 17 Feb 2020 07:07 AM PST

So I haven't played in ~4-5 years, but thinking of taking it up again. Seems lots has changed. Anyone have any quick tips on what's different? Cool build guides I should start off with? Any of my old gear I should pay attention to (apparently my 945% Facebreakers are pretty sought after now?)
