Noob question(s): best cyclone league starter? Tips for gearing under an essentially nonexistent budget?

    Posted: 01 Mar 2020 10:14 PM PST

Been looking at several cyclone builds to start off 3.10. So far this one is looking good to me for how ridiculously tanky it gets (max chaos res, max phys res), but the crafted rares are way beyond anything I could have afforded this league (I only got 3 exalt drops through the whole Metamorph league across 4 characters).

Any suggestions for gearing under a very low budget? Any decent cheap uniques I can use until I can afford better rares? Any other good cyclone league starters that scale better?

Which builds were able to take on end game on a budget in 3.9?

    Posted: 02 Mar 2020 02:59 AM PST

Hi guys, returning player here. So, last league I played properly was Legion and I know content has gotten much harder since then. I'm looking for a league starter build that is cheap to start with but can scale well with investment. I know it sounds pretty cliched but I don't plan on making more than one character due to real world responsibilities.

    Things I'm looking for:

Bossing > Map clear. I want to enjoy all the new content that has since come out like blight, metamorphosis and Sirius which means good bossing abilities and a tanky boi. Better map clear is good but I know the two don't exactly go hand in hand without high investment which I probably won't have time to do.

An example would be vortex cold snap occultist which I really enjoyed in Betrayal. I know it's still viable but I would like something new.

Oh, and no ED Contagion or Minion builds. I have played ED too many times and Minions while I know got buffed, are just not my style.

I see necromancer and assasin's are top specs this league on poe.ninja and everyone is running cyclone or zombies. Did they get buffed?

    Any suggestions appreciated!

Herald of Ash Elementalist Bomber, needs opinions.

    Posted: 02 Mar 2020 03:40 AM PST

I love autobomber, I prefer Herald of Ash boom boom so I figure I should try it out. Elementalist for the golems' buff effect, they give a lot of generic damage (Flame golem) that will scale both out Armageddon Brand which we use for single target and defense (Stone, Chaos).

We start the Herald of Thunder chain by killing enemies with Armageddon Brand, they're shocked from Storm's Gift gloves and the zappy bolt will start. After that, we run. I'm thinking about the base crit for HoT, when all the new things are introduced, I might finish the build. Now just pretend I do have some base crit on my HoT.

I want the build to be somewhat fast at clearing but can also tackle endgame content so I try to squeeze in as much defense as possible. We have 124% increased life from tree, 69/35 block chance with Rumi's up, 9k3 armour with Molten Shell and brand playstyle let us run around dodging.

What I'm concerned with: HoT damage, my own single target damage and the build's viability. The DPS might be a bit too low because I don't how to let PoB support multiple golems, which are huge DPS boost.

There's some socket issues tho, and I'm too inexperienced to know if I should continue the build or how refined it is. Appreciates any helps, thank you.

Help with PoB and my new Saboteur build

    Posted: 02 Mar 2020 02:30 AM PST

I've rerolled to Saboteur to try out mines (Pyroclast) and looked at Esoros Saboteur as a guideline but PoB still shows a difference of several hundred thousand DPS (total DPS is like 7x as much), and I don't know why. Obviously my gear is not min/maxed and not even all my gems are max level yet, but I still don't get why my average hit is about 80K and his is about 460K. After all my gear is several exalts. I am also aware that I am missing 4 passive points but on first sight, our gear seems quite similar (except a few stats + the enchant on boots)

    I would appreciate any help

Safe/non-summoner build idea for Delirium pleaseee

    Posted: 01 Mar 2020 09:38 PM PST

    Hello,

Really not sure what to do for Delirium and was hoping for suggestions. Been testing different builds/idea on Standard to make sure I like them. I dislike summoners but might finally bite the bullet for the sake of safety.

In the past few leagues, my only "safe" builds were a lightning trapper and an RF. The rest were more glass-cannon speed style. I'm not against melee builds, just would want one that doesn't get one-shot by the inevitable league mechanics.

    Ideas/suggestions appreciated :)

    Trickster vs Occultist for Bane/Soulrend

    Posted: 01 Mar 2020 02:05 PM PST

Title basically says it all. I'm wondering what people's opinions are on ascendancy choice for a bane/soulrend build. I'm intending to use bane as the main 6l for single target and having soulrend be for map clear and supplemental single target when I can cast it.

From my own theory crafting it seems to me that the occultist would have more single target damage, but trickster would have more general utility and possibly better map clear.

For reference the ascendancy nodes I'd use would be: ghost dance, patient reaper, prolonged pain, and either swiftkiller or escape artist for the final node for trickster. For occultist it would be void beacon, withering presence, profane bloom, and malediction.

    Hollow Palm Trickster theorycraft

thought long and hard about this, almost went for inquisitor because its almost twice the damage as trickster, but skill points are a problem if you go inquis and I want to leave plenty of room in the build for cluster jewels.I use the new split personality jewel to help with dex stacking, overall looks very promising, but there may be things im not thinking of and that's why I brought it here! the most awkward point of the build is having to use purity of elements, you can cap res without it but you have to give up a lot on your gear for it. I decided the damage you can get on gear from suffixes is better than running hatred, but I could be wrong

Edit: keep in mind Life, Dex and res are the first thing we would be looking for on the cluster jewels, the new grasping vines keystone could also be pretty OP for our damage and we might be able to cut some corners on the gear. also make sure the split personality jewel is at the end of the line in the cluster setup, the dex I put on it is accounting for it having to travel 7 nodes through the clusters.

How do you go deathless past 92?

    Posted: 01 Mar 2020 07:41 AM PST

Got tired of having to spawn worms on my animate guardian scion so I sold all my stuff and tried other things. Somehow nothing seems to allow me to get through a t15 map without dying.

Here's my dark pact occultist with 2 void batteries: http://poeurl.com/cKVGPastebin: https://pastebin.com/NsL0VncG

I started the game in synthesis played to about 92 and I've never seem to get past the hurdle of leveling past 91/92ish. Then I quit and back when metamorph began. Anyone can tell me what I should do to go deathless?

Edit: most, if not all deaths are one shots. At the very most it would be a two shot. Nothing changed going from 5k es to nearly 8k es. still dying to abrupt one shots.

    Poets pen srs minion instability.

    Posted: 01 Mar 2020 12:09 PM PST

What up. I was on pob and made a poets pen build focused on casting SRS and explosions with Minion instability. I got the minion instability damage up to 350k. With the use of tavuki amulet and the jewel that increases damage to your minion (40% increase damage taken - 4 notables), it should kill em easy. I just am so ehh about this. The offhand could be another poet pen that could be desecrate with body swap to increase Necro attack speed. I am just so iffy about this cause you would be shooting off a Max of 2 raging spirits each time the main hand procs. Like, if I get the attacks per second way up would this be a good build?

    Levelling a crit-hybrid ES/Life Assassin

    Posted: 01 Mar 2020 11:10 AM PST

Assuming nothing gets nerfed to hell, I'm planning on switching into a Cyclone-Cast on Crit - Ice Nova build along these lines; https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2733675/page/1

    I usually only play one build per league, so playing a league starter and then switching to this isn't something that is in my time budget for the next 3 months. That being said, given the expensive items in this build, I'm not sure that it's a skill set that I can league start with. So, 2 questions;

    1) Would levelling as Cast on Crit without any items be fast/workable? The Gem set up they have is Cyclone - Hypothermia - Inspiration - Cast on Crit - Ice Nova - Increased Cast on Crit. Seems like until I manage to gear it up, it'd have really weak single target DPS?

    So then question 2; 2) What are good skills to level with which would feel smooth with that skill tree? The tree has entirely generic spell damage, crit, and elemental damage; so;

6L Storm Brand, 4L Wave of Conviction, 4L Orb of Storms, 4L Lightning Spire Trap and a 3L Movement skill and a 3L Aura? Looking for something that will work until mid-tier maps, whichc seems about when I'd get enough currency to switch over to that build.

Need the right trigger for BV + animate weapon

    Posted: 01 Mar 2020 09:56 AM PST

So what i want to do: I want to cast BV (and be able to reach max blades) and use the remaining stacks to animate weapons.

First idea was to link both BV and AW to CwC, but CwC triggers both skills alternatively, thus this wont be able to get any BV stacks up. Right?

Next idea was borrowed from VD builds: Scolds Bridle. But how much damage do i actually receive from scolds (per second)? Cyclone is listed with 3.76aps and 55 mana cost. Thus (with scolds and doedre gloves) this means 3.76*55*5=1034 dmg/s self-inflicted right?

And thus with lvl20 CwDt (3200 somthing dmg), linked to AW ill cast one AW every 3 seconds. is this correct? Seems kind of low, how do the VD builds generate enough corpses with this method? They should generate on stack of corpses every 0.35s, something seems off.

Im also open for other ideas, as long as i dont have to cast AW manually :)

€ok found out why VD builds work... the desecrate and unerth dont have to be lvled --> a lower lvl CwDt is sufficient --> more proccs

Need help with survivability - Melting CoC build

This is my build, I can pretty comfortably clear high reds but the amount of one shots is so frustrating

I'm following this build and it seems like life isn't the differentiating factor here.

Also side note, I have maim immunity from panth and corrupting blood from a jewel but I still bleed sometimes. where is that coming from?

    Facebreaker

    Posted: 01 Mar 2020 08:24 AM PST

    Hey guys, quick question.

So I was thinking about doing a facebreaker build on standard league, since I don't really care about new leagues in general.
Whenever I check facebreaker builds on poe.ninja usually the best performing builds use corrupted, well rolled facebreakers. (But as far as I know they only show builds from current leagues).
Since I have some currency to spend I wanted to ask which facebreakers would perform better.
Well rolled facebreakers (750-800% more dmg) with a good corrupt implicit like "Curse Vulnerability on Hit" or "+X to gems" or uncorrupted Legacy Facebreakers with like 920%+ to unarmed attacks.

I am not a numbers guy. Are the legacy ones way better than good rolled corrupted ones - or is it the other way arround?
