Posted: 09 May 2020 12:54 AM PDT Melee needs help. Right now, as allways, Cyclone is the most dominant Melee Skill, because it combines everything Melee is lacking. Permanent Movement, high Attack Speed, great Defense, Stun Immunity. Being able to permanently move while attacking is by far the greatest defense Melee can ask for. High Attack Speed scales incredibly well with the most powerfull scaling method, which is Impale. But Attack Speed serves another, very important purpose, which is very simple. Make a Skill feel good to play. The Base Attack Speed nerf, which reduced the Base Attack Speed to 70% to 80% on most melee skills, broke these skills. Due to the powercreep and tools we have in the game, it is still possible to scale most skills rather well, but they will always fall behind other, much better performing skill, namely Cyclone. But most importantly, they will allways feel really bad to play. Most new Melee Skills added to the game are unplayable: Perforate, Bladestorm, Tectonic Slam , Consecrated Path, Charged Dash, Steel Skills, Chain Hook. They all serve no real purpose, other than someone trying to make them work even though they know they are the inferior choice. Bladestorm is probably the most popular skills of the ones I named above. But you can take any Bladestorm build, swap to cyclone and have a better build. In this case you dont even need to change your tree or gear. Maybe change 1 Gem socket and you are good to go. With the Base Attack Speed nerfs, the choice what Melee build to play was drastically simplified, because everything with a below 100% base Attack Speed can be seen as inferior or in other words - bad. This is just one aspect why melee needs help. But I think its a very important one. You can also point out, that the Skill Identity, especially on Blood and Sand and Steel Skills is non existent, because they have no traits that stand out compared to other skills. They are only worse than other choices and nothing else. They do have their own unique way of what they do and how to scale it, but what is it worth if in the end, every other choice is superior. This is sadly true for most Melee Skills and I personally would love to see GGG take on the whole theme again and give skills a real identity that will make them stand out in their own unique way compared to other skills, so that multiple melee skills can actualy compete with each other. I do admit that GGG seemed to have learned one thing about Melee, and that is that attacking while being able to move is mandatory to make melee feel good. Static Strike got changed to a duration Skill that keeps attacking nearby enemies. Bladestorm is a moving object that keeps attacking enemies. Consecrated Path is a movement Skill in intself, Flicker is famous for a reason, because you constatly move. Chain Hook was probably made for the same reason, Move + Attack. Charged Dash, move and attack. But even though they did realize that Melee needs to move while attacking, they somehow never made it work in a way that feels good, that scales good or that compedes with the one true king, cyclone. Can someone with a chinese account stream the ladder of the China Race? Posted: 09 May 2020 07:01 AM PDT In order to see the China race ladder, you need access to the Chinese website. Can anyone stream that page? So we can follow what is happening ? [link] [comments]

Posted: 08 May 2020 08:00 PM PDT GGG, it's getting awkward to explain to my partner that no, I'm not playing 'that game I'm 'obsessed' with', I'm playing the alien game (XCOM) or the sims game (Rimworld). I can't keep up being a fanatic when the game crashes on me regularly. I went back after a whole quarantine away, and had theree crashes in the first forty minutes. Normally I'd blame myself but not two hours previous I had three different games idling in the background, along with my browser, and streaming, so I don't (I might be wrong but inclined to think otherwise) think I'm wrong. . PoE is just disproportionately demanding. I love this game. I want to play it forever. But it is becoming a serious drain, a distracting demanding annoying resource hog. Can we maybe stop adding so much for like five seconds? Just one league? Just one league where we chill for a second. In this quarantine era I think you'd get away with it, or at least financially survive. Anyway, I'm just ranting. I love PoE. I wouldn't be here bitching if I didn't. [link] [comments]

Let's talk about TIFU or pity threads. Posted: 09 May 2020 08:30 AM PDT Some background on what spurred this topic. There's a thread at the top where OP messes up and loses a few exalts in the process. By my count, half a dozen people offer to make up for OP's mistake. There are two issues here. First, we have no way of verifying the story. Secondly, there's no telling how many times help has been accepted, potentially taking advantage of multiple good people despite already having recouped what was lost in the first place. The OP is question does seem to have accepted multiple offers. But let's assume the best case scenario where those issues don't exist. Out of principle, I commented in the thread that your own mistakes shouldn't be paid by other people's kindness. It feels so wrong, especially in a game where stuff like this doesn't really matter in the grand scheme of things, so why not own up to your mistake and take the lesson to the heart? My comment gets downvoted to oblivion. I'm genuinely confused, surely people can't think it's okay for everyone to post their fuck ups in hopes that someone else will fix their mistake for them as long as their story is well-crafted enough with enough details so people know exactly what was lost? So I made a thread telling people to do exactly that, unsurprisingly, it gets downvoted, restoring my hope. Now why am I posting this? Because I think a thread like that at the top sets a horrible example. Could you image if everyone posted their fuck ups, in hopes of someone kind bailing them out? I get it, some people want to be helpful, but why not help out random newbies instead? I'm sure they will appreciate your help just as much. Or do they have to fuck up somehow in order to qualify? Anyway, the rant is over, I just had to get this off my chest as I feel terrible for the good people potentially getting taken advantage of. [link] [comments]

Posted: 09 May 2020 01:56 AM PDT I think this clip represents some things about this game that need changing. I was never in danger here, unless I stopped moving. Enemies aren't really even there. Basically just extra terrain to move around. Now if I had actually killed the enemies en masse, I would be in a whole lot more danger. Here are a few sort-of-obvious things you might consider after watching this clip: Living enemies should be more dangerous than dead enemies. But not in a Baranite Thaumaturge oneshot laser fashion, more like "alive enemies actually target where you are with lots of smaller hits, so if they aren't dead they're actually hurting you". And if most of the enemies actually pose some form of danger, there should be less of them, and if there are less of them they should also drop better items (but not more items, because that has a whole lot to do with people's performance issues). But those are things that will be fixed in Path of Exile 2, hopefully. This raises the obvious response "what about builds that clear the entire fucking screen per button press?". Well if you ask me, either those builds need to be heavily nerfed, or GGG needs to stop balancing the game around them. Because at the moment, as you see in that rather relaxed clip, the entire league mechanic of Delirium is balanced around exactly the builds that clear the whole screen per button press, by launching a whole bunch of on-death effects at them. If you aren't killing anything, it's not dangerous. The idea I came up with raises another question. "What about builds that have ridiculous recovery rates, like leech and heavy-investment regen builds?" Alter recovery options and defense, in such a way that investing in them or choosing ascendancies that are designed around them actively hurts your clearspeed and damage, but actually keeps you alive in doing so. Path of Exile is currently in this weird place where the difference between building a conceptually tanky character and actually being tanky can be hundreds of exalts, because GGG has balanced the game around characters that are simultaneously tanky and can clear the entire screen with one click. So they do the best they can to kill those characters through on-death effects that one-shot players, because nothing else is actually dangerous (see clip). so to summarize i guess: builds meant for clearspeed should have a harder time living but a much easier time killing things fast tanky builds should have a way easier time living but a much harder time killing things fast killing things fast should not be the best defense enemies should actually pose a threat before they die, and as such there should be less enemies etc [link] [comments]

Posted: 09 May 2020 07:06 AM PDT I recently made the transition from xbox, I started a few days ago, went to poe.trade and copy-pasted the name from the item I wanted to buy, and whispered the person saying I want to buy some item. I've done this about twenty times, and have had zero people respond, even tho the site said they were online. am I doing something wrong? Is there a more efficient way to trade? I just made the biggest mistake of my PoE career Posted: 08 May 2020 06:33 PM PDT So I'm playing ED Trickster. I'm a pretty casual player and just finally killed my first Sirus ever at A5. It took forever of course, so I was looking to upgrade my damage a little bit. I found an amazing wand for quite a good deal. It was a profane wand, and it had:
https://i.imgur.com/EaDY0dR.jpg 14 Cast Speed +1 all Chaos spell skill gems 33% chaos damage over time multiplier +114 mana 15% cast speed 2 open suffix
Needless to say, I was pretty excited. I could craft Trigger socketed spells on it and possibly slam something better. I wanted to Divine it a bit to top out the rolls (not 100% sure of the exact numbers I posted). Unfortunately, I accidentally picked up a chaos orb and started clicking away. After the first click I felt my face get hot. I knew it was too late. I had "only" spent 4ex on it, which is a great price imo, but I had completely rerolled the mods. I pretty much only play solo and do limited trading so it was about half of my total league currency. I wanted to share cause I figured you guys could get a good laugh. At the end of the day it sucks, but it's just an item. We play this game for fun, and we all make mistakes. I guess I'll have to craft my own upgrade now lol. That being said, anyone have any crafting advice? Unfortunately I still haven't unlocked the t3 bench Chaos Dot multi. Maybe I should just use some of my Abberant fossils? Thanks for reading
Sincerely, One Salty Exile
EDIT: I wanted to add that the kind Gentleman I bought the wand off of gave me an Exalt back, and an orb of Regret lol. Made me feel a little better about the situation and he totally didn't have to do that! Thanks HosenloserHochstapler! [link] [comments] |
