Over 1M DPS Spectral Shield Throw on a Budget Posted: 07 Jun 2020 06:09 PM PDT I'm tired of seeing build guides for Spectral Shield Throw that pad their damage with unreliable buffs or mirror-worthy gear. Here is a Spectral Shield Throw build that gets over 1 million damage with really cheap gear. While reaching that benchmark, it does not use:
You can add these things to the build once you're willing to start investing in it to really push your damage, but too many builds make extraordinary claims while glossing over expensive requirements or fudging the PoB numbers. This build does not. This is not meant to be a full build guide for someone unfamiliar with SST, but a blueprint for a different (I would say more powerful) way of building SST. Here's the build: https://pastebin.com/HRRs6p2D. So how does it work? In a nutshell, the build uses Impale while stacking strength to gain damage bonuses from Iron Grip and Iron Will with Repentance and the new Crown of Eyes, which also get increased by Iron Fortress. Originally the idea was to triple dip on damage with a Doon Cuebiyari, but a three green socketed Prismatic Eclipse outperforms it. Most of these are really cheap uniques; even a six linked Iron Heart is around 30 chaos in Delirium, and the prophecy to make it an Iron Fortress is around 3 chaos and easy enough to do. The build's strength comes from Split Personality jewels. Strength+Life is the best one for this build and runs around 20 chaos each, but strength and armor, accuracy, or evasion are even cheaper and will do if necessary. Oh, and that million dps number is with a 2383 armor shield (which you can reasonably buy or craft for less than a exalt, but a SST build will obviously have better DPS with better, more expensive shields), 6k+ life, 61% block chance, and no rings or boots! That's right, builds that use all the gear lots are unethical; don't be a slave to the meta. Joking aside, getting resists is a challenge for this build, and boots+rings are the easiest ways to get them. You can also eke out even more damage from those gear slots (boots can get %strength), and they are good places to invest in once you're no longer on a budget. You can also get a much better amulet than an Astramentis for stacking strength. (Note that one of the Split Personalities in the PoB is Strength/Int, which is more expensive due to the meta Int-stacking builds. Preferably it should be replaced with Strength+Life once you have enough Int from another source to use Repentance gloves.) However, even if you use an Aurumvorax for resists, you still have over 800,000 dps. This build is not a league starter. It's a pain to level and can require a lot of regrets. When using Split Personality, you want to slot them in as far away from your start as possible, so I recommend speccing out of early jewel sockets in order to move the Split Personalities into farther away sockets as soon as you can. The easiest way to make this is to respec an existing character. This build could also be emulated as a Berserker with blitz charges and Rage for really great attack and movement speed, but the tree would be significantly different. [link] [comments]
Posted: 07 Jun 2020 07:16 AM PDT Hello exiles. I've been playing PoE since Legacy and have never really developed an end game play style. I really enjoy the thrill of getting to high tier maps and playing against difficult bosses, but I can't seem to end the fights. What I'm wondering is, is there a build type that can compensate for poor play style, while still doing enough damage to take out bosses, all without being super expensive? Without being able to really take out high end fights, I tend to not accumulate much currency either. Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks everyone! [link] [comments]
Posted: 07 Jun 2020 05:45 PM PDT I haven't played PoE since the beta years ago and I think I played like a frozen build or something (I honestly don't even remember) I just remember the game having a gigantic talent tree that I was hella confused. This community seems to be a wealth of knowledge, I'm kinda interested in playing again if it isn't too much of a barrier to entry time investment. What do you think? Can you all teach me some things random friends? [link] [comments]
What’s your process for making your very own build? Posted: 07 Jun 2020 03:21 PM PDT So I'm 1700 hours deep into this lovely game since Breach league and I just thought about how I've never made my "own" build. The farthest I've gone was taking inspiration from someone else and changing things around, but I've never actually started my own build from absolute scratch in PoB or anything. With that said, I'd love to do that for this upcoming league to see if I can make something that actually works. I have a feeling it may pump some extra life into PoE for me. So to you build makers, what's your process? You can make a list or just explain. From my perspective it helps to start with at least a main skill you'd like to use and maybe an ascendancy to support said skill, right? Either that or pick a main keystone on the tree you want to use too, like Blood Magic. Perhaps also maybe picking one or two uniques that you want to use in the build and go from there? Thanks guys, I'm excited. [link] [comments]
Posted: 07 Jun 2020 06:47 PM PDT Looking for feedback on this Tectonic Slam build I'm thinking about as a second character for next league. Tectonic Slam is getting a buff to scale better off endurance charges and Jugg is good at that, so seemed like a fit. Plus there's the new fist of war slam support gem which sounds good. Then I also want to pick up Transcendence with Loreweave to avoid the penalty. Looking for some feedback on how to improve it. [link] [comments]
Youtubers that are making very informative videos? Posted: 07 Jun 2020 06:07 AM PDT Looking for more channels like Luna Wolve, AsmodeusClips. Edit: Ty for suggestions guys, these are some great ones! [link] [comments]
Blade blast blade vortex brands viable? Posted: 07 Jun 2020 03:46 PM PDT I was thinking about why no one used bv blast even though it seemed incredible with regards to AoE. It's because you lose all your stacks. But what if you had 5 brands, and they all cast bv. Then you use brand recall and you immediately trigger all 5 for half your stacks. So you zoom to another pack and blast them, hit brand recall, get half your stacks. If there are any stragglers, the brands will attach and you'll quickly have all your stacks up again to blast again. The brands don't damage the enemies, they just trigger BV on you. Maybe you use efficacy and duration on your blade vortex and all your damage is on your bladeblast. Maybe you put some utility on your blade vortex for bossing. It seems clunky, but also like it's almost workable. But then it also sounds like shock nova but not as good. Thoughts? [link] [comments]
Posted: 07 Jun 2020 09:10 AM PDT Is this a thing that exists? I think that, to a lot of new players, the concept of making your own build is somewhat daunting. Having the opportunity to sit down with someone and discuss at length their ideas and have help in understanding how to make it work would go a long way to open them up to experimentation where they might otherwise fall back to following a premade guide or end up with a build that's frankly unplayable. League starter cyclone raider review needed Posted: 07 Jun 2020 07:42 AM PDT Hello ! I made a cheap raider league starter with cyclone and it would be cool if someone could review it, tell me if it's good enough. Since I'm not a god at making currency, I didn't use expensive unique and made really easy to craft rares. Gems don't have quality because I'll probably have rerolled before getting any of them to level 20. Here's the link (pob fork) : https://pastebin.com/Q3cTZ80y Quick summary of the build at level 90 :
Btw I tried to do 7 league starters, one for each character, so I can start with whatever I want, so I won't change the class even though I know cyclone works better with other classes. [link] [comments]
Posted: 07 Jun 2020 01:03 PM PDT Hi exiles ! I'm new to the game and I've been playing a CoC Assassin build this league (Cyclone + Ice Nova). It's a very pleasant build to play. I liked the Kami version of this build, unfortunately I wasn't able to try it due to the cost of the endgame gear. So I looked around other ascendancy and my eyes stopped on the Inquisitor ^^. Since then I've been trying on PoB to make this build alive (a CoC Inquisitor using CI). Since I don't have that much knowledge on the game (The Wiki was very helpful but sometimes it's nice to have other opinions) I wanted to share what I've done on PoB so I can get your feedback on : - Is this build viable ? ^^ - If yes how I can improve it ? - How much would it cost approximately ? Thank you very much for your time and I hope my PoB doesn't hurt your eyes too much haha ^^. Kindly, Arkning. Edit : I know the items aren't set in a good way, I just wanted to see how would it be when everything is maxed out. So if some of you can help me put like a middle line on the stat so I can updated them. Also my intention never was to play this build as a league start. Also if you can help me to reach the cap for the stats I'm looking for like Accuracy for hit chance, crit chance and multiplier, block chance or any other stats like minimum ES or average dps on ice nova etc... Skills / builds similar to Earthquake? Posted: 07 Jun 2020 11:43 AM PDT I'm a new POE player. I tried out the game a bit in Metamorph, then took an EQ Jugg to red maps in Delirium. Along the way I tried out a number of other builds (totems, brands, mines, ...), but never took them to maps. I'm looking for suggestions for skills or builds that might have some things in common with the EQ Jugg, which I found to be very fun to play. I liked EQ because each skill use felt impactful. Each hit was big and meaty. Brands and totems, on the other hand, felt more passive - like they were doing most of the work, and my job was to start them and then just run around and not die. It's quite possible I was doing something wrong, or that once I hit endgame and a completed build that it would have felt better. Similarly, I tried out a few other melee skills, like lacerate, but I disliked the machine-gun feel of the fast attack speed. Some builds I'm considering, but don't have much experience with:
Do any other skills come to mind that might have a similar feel to the two I've enjoyed so far? (EQ, which I've taken to red maps, and fireball, which I've taken to act 9 only). Are there archetypes I'm missing? My preference is to try something different from the EQ Jugg - maybe a caster, maybe ES based, something so that I learn more about what is possible in POE. Thanks in advance. [link] [comments]

Posted: 07 Jun 2020 08:08 AM PDT Looking to play CA for my starter, and i'm wondering if i should to occultist or trickster. The posts i've found say that occultist wins damage wise, but they're from 3 years ago so i'm not sure how accurate they are. Trickster should be easier to build because he doesn't have to stack curses and gets alot of DoT damage and movement speed from just being a trickster. On the other hand, occultist seems to have a bunch of ES regen to stay alive, and might have an easier time than trickster? Planning on mostly running delves. [link] [comments] |
