| Some...Interesting...flask mechanics Posted: 18 Aug 2020 07:58 AM PDT I was recently messing around on a pathfinder character trying to see how many worms I could spawn per second in hideout. I grabbed every flask node on the tree, and used 3 voices jewels all with flask medium clusters with Fasting/Menders Wellspring/Brewed for Potency to get as many increased flask charges gained and flask regen. I was able to get the worm flasks to a point where they recharge all charges every 3 seconds, and sometimes a large injection in between then with the Traitor keystone (because it is the only source of flask regen that isn't on a 3 second timer, but rather a 5 second timer). However, I wanted to go further. I was looking at sources of flask charge on crit and was considering stacking them, but I found out that multiple sources of flask charge on crit do not stack. I find this really disappointing considering there are currently 6 sources of it in the game, none of them "trivial" to get: Pathfinder ascendancy, hunter belt mod, the harvest unique weapon, precursor's emblem ring with "gain a flask charge on crit when at maximum frenzy charges", and a watcher's eye with "gain a flask charge on crit with precision". I know that flask charge on crit was specifically nerfed because of the worm blaster builds to make all flasks have a 200ms internal cooldown on flask charge on crit. However, the fact that multiple sources cannot stack makes it simply unviable to use seriously - even if the cooldown remained, getting 4 or 5 charges on hit and then increasing charges gained drastically with flask nodes and overflowing chalice would be not only a significant investment, but hardly that powerful when compared to what is available to do these days. Another thing I found is a contradictory instance of flask effectiveness on unique flasks: it is well known that at 50% flask effectiveness, you can make dying sun give 3 extra projectiles rather than 2 (2*1.5 = 3). The mod on dying sun is listed as a unique modifier and has no value range on the "2". However, the writhing jar, which has a similar mod that says "2 worms escape the jar when used" and is listed as a unique modifier with no value range on the "2", is not affected by flask effectiveness, and will always launch 2 worms and no more. So either the writhing jar is ninja nerfed or the dying sun interaction is unintentional. Thanks for coming to my TED talk about flasks and worms -sincerely, a pathfinder enthusiast [link] [comments] | ||

| How close are we to the Path of Exile 2 as was shown at the Exilecon? Posted: 18 Aug 2020 12:13 PM PDT Hey there, as the title says, i'm desperate to know how close we are to the "Path of Exile 2" which was shown at the Exilecon. I'm a casual player and i usually get fairly quickly bored from ARPGs, same happened to PoE. But i still follow this game as from time to time and there are times which i hop back into the game, unlike with the other ARPGs i'd played. Unfortunately this has not happened in a while, but when i saw what was shown at Exilecon, i was pumped! I wanted to play all of that was show immediatly. It had so many fun things i wished for or didn't know i wanted, but it was still to come and even worse, in pieces. So that's why i want to know. [link] [comments] | ||
| Vulkan performance seems FAR better after today Posted: 17 Aug 2020 08:49 PM PDT Between the new Nvidia driver that specifically fixed a PoE related bug that released today, and the new PoE patch, Vulkan seems to be in a far better state. I was one of the people who had stellar performance with Vulkan in Delirium, and had it swap to borderline unplayable in Harvest. Just tried it again today, and I'm getting steady high FPS with better performance than DX for the first time since Delirium. Are others having similar results? [link] [comments] | ||
| Empyriangaming burning his 84 House of Mirrors is rather unlikely Posted: 17 Aug 2020 04:50 PM PDT Empy tried to gamble away 84 House of Mirrors divination cards using 101 crafts of the "Sacrifice up to half a stack of Divination Cards to receive between 0 and twice that amount of the same Card" seedcraft (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oZSVwZsluaI). Empy seemed to overestimate the likelyhood of losing all of his divination cards somewhat. The craft gives between -4 and +4 divination cards (House of Mirrors has a stacksize of 9). In the best case, you could burn through all of the 84 cards in 84/4 = 21 crafts. Unfortunately however, the best case is very unlikely. Mathematically, this gamble is very similar to the random walk. According to wikipedia (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Random_walk), the expected translation distance after n steps is approximately 0.8*sqrt(n). An average steps moves us by 2.2 divination cards (since we can roll between -4 and 4 cards). Setting the average translation distance equal to the 84 cards empy started out with, we can solve 84 = 0.8*2.2*sqrt(n) for n and find that we should expect about 2300 crafts for a 50% chance (since this can go either way) to burn all the cards. I also programmed a short python code, that estimates the probability with brute force simulating 100,000 gambling attempts. The results are as follows: 5% chance to need less than 280 crafts 10% chance to need less than 400 crafts 30% chance to need less than 1000 crafts 50% chance to need less than 2370 crafts 70% chance to need less than 7500 crafts I guess the code is close enough to the estimation above. I had to implement an early stop into the code after 10000 crafts in one gambling attempt, since the program sometimes got stuck in very lucky gambling loops. Once, the program managed to spend 1.7 billion crafts, with a net profit of about 200,000 divination cards. TLDR: Empy probably needs a few thousand crafts to reliably burn those divination cards. | I had the most enjoyable season yet in POE as a SSF Harvest player. Posted: 17 Aug 2020 04:08 PM PDT Before this season, as a melee Slayer main, Legion was by far my favorite season with the buffs and rewards it dished out. The last few seasons however, I've slowly transitioned over to SSF because it allowed me to focus in on improving my build without the constant worry of grinding for enough currency or checking trade. This season allowed me to have a clear path to upgrade each piece of gear without 100% relying on RNG. It was such a laid back and enjoyable season. I was able to get "trade" tier gear for once COMPLETELY ON MY OWN, and it was so rewarding. It was not quick, nor easy. It took time and knowledge of where and how to get each upgrade. That being said, I'm really concerned with how progression will feel going back to relying completely on RNG as this league was so much different as far as SSF goes. I was finally able to get past settling for decent uniques in many slots and the thought of going back to that... stinks. Anyways, just wanted to put that out into the universe. Had a lot of fun, never wanted it to end. Hope everyone is staying safe. [link] [comments] |
