    Fishing league confirmed

    Posted: 27 Aug 2020 02:26 AM PDT

Since my PoE account just got permanently banned, I just want to explain why I'm going to walk away from the game and seek therapy.

    Posted: 27 Aug 2020 07:18 AM PDT

This morning, my account that I've had since 2013 got permanently banned. Since I've got nothing to lose now, I just want to come clean to the community about my actions, and maybe my case can be useful for some people.

Although I wasn't given a specific reason for my ban and was only told that I have breached the ToS, my account was most likely banned for Real Money Trading (RMT). I received no previous warning and was immediately perma-banned (here's the email I got). I had been RMTing on a massive scale for several years, and this was definitely worthy of a permanent ban.

Over the last 6 years or so, if I have spent thousands of dollars in MTX, I have spent even more buying currency with real cash. It started years ago, when I purchased some exalted orbs to buy a Tabula Rasa and other leveling gear for a late league start. Since I didn't get caught, I started buying more and more. After that, every time I wanted to upgrade a piece of gear, I bought currency for it online. It got to the point where I would plan a build on PoB and then purchase all the gear for the new character ahead of time. Worse than that, I even started buying currency to try and craft near-perfect items that I didn't even need for my characters.

At one point I realized that this had to stop, and I told myself that I would only play SSF and SSF HC from now on, and that I would only use money to buy MTX, stash tabs and legitimate things of the sort. But this strategy only had limited effectiveness. Every time my friends would tell me that they're playing SC trade, I would make a character there to play with them and the cycle would eventually repeat. I just couldn't stop myself. I can tell that if I make a new account now and don't play SSF, I will almost instantly buy currency again.

This is very wrong, and I know I have a problem, because I have done this in other games as well, like in WoW for example. I'm going to seek therapy. I know that I have hurt the community with my actions, and that I have no excuse.

From the bottom of my heart, I'm sorry. I am the worst scum, the kind that this community rightfully despises. I love PoE, been playing it for many years now, and I don't know if I deserve to be able to play it again. I'm not sure I will create another account, even though GGG said in the perma-ban email that I could. I might wait and see if therapy can help me first.

edit: after reading the comments, RMTing is actually what got me banned, most likely, and not using AHK macros for flasks. I deserved to get banned, I know I have a personal problem, I'm gonna try and solve it.

edit 2: I sent an email to GGG asking them to make my new account SSF- and SSF HC-modes only until I've provided to them evidence that I've actually sought therapy and gotten help. Waiting for their answer. I already reached act 3 and saved the Scion in Harvest League to unlock SSF mode, so there's no need for me to play trade anymore.

edit 3: GGG answered. It's not possible for my account to be SSF-locked atm. I don't think I will play PoE for a while unfortunately.

edit 4: here's the original perma-ban email as proof, since someone said I'm making up this story.

edit 5: I also asked GGG if it's possible to transfer MTX from accounts that have been closed for breaching ToS (like mine), and they told me it's not possible.

edit 5: Just to answer some questions that I'm getting asked a lot by PM:

    1. How much did I spend? I'm not 100% sure, but I believe around 10k USD over 6 years.

    2. I thought they banned sellers, not buyers? Maybe, but I was an extreme buyer. Your average bloke who spends $15 every league to buy a couple of exalted orbs is probably not gonna get caught.

    3. Where did I buy? Did I buy from several sources? I bought it from a single trusted source that I'm obviously not gonna reveal here. I tried several buyers over the years before finding a good one. I don't know what else to add about this. If you have any more questions about this or something else, ask me by PM, but I won't tell you the name of the seller even by PM, so don't bother asking me that.

There should be more bosses like normal Atziri

    Posted: 26 Aug 2020 08:20 PM PDT

Chris Willson has said in the past that GGG is very good at boss fights and that it is something that they plan to take advantage of in the POE2 campaign. I would like to see this extended to the end game as well.I like normal Atziri for a few reasons.

    • It is a real boss but it does not require an essentially finished character

Atziri is clearly way harder than a normal map boss if you face her at the intended level. This makes the fight mechanics meaningful and (until you have grossly out scaled the content) you have to learn what they are. It is also designed to be fought right at the start of mapping (area level is the same as a tier 3 map). This means you first fight her (if you do it at level) with a character who is far from finished. I think this is good for any character but especially true of characters that are intended to be end game boss killers as it gives a meaningful measure of how strong your character is.

    • It is easy to access

Sac frags are super easy to come by and if you don't have a Midnight, it is also super easy to target farm one by throwing other frags in the map device. Ease of access is important for a couple of big reasons. First, it is early mapping content so you will out scale it after not too long. Next, because it is easy to access, if you fail it isn't that hard to farm up and try it again. This helps with learning the boss mechanics, especially when you are new to the fight. It also makes failing feel less bad.

    • There are reasons to do the content

Drops don't have to be extremely valuable but they are something that players want. Atziri flask is a great example of this. Sure not very valuable as a unique but it has a use in a good number of builds. A few other drops have uses too, though they are more niche or more early league focused.

I feel there should be a reason to want to do the content but at the same time, it should not be what you want to do with your maxed out t19 max delirium farming character for maximum efficiency.

I would love to see more low and mid-tier encounters that meet these criteria. At a minimum, I think there should be a mid yellow and low red tier Atziri style boss though ideally, I would like to see one for every or every other map tier.As a side note, I dislike the idea of low-level Conquerors being repeatable. While the fights do get incrementally harder, it is essentially the same fight. Something that makes bosses fun (to me at least) is that they are unique.

TLDR: It would be good to have easy to access mid map tier level, meaningful bosses

Infused Channeling, Scourge Arrow, and Divine Flesh

    Posted: 27 Aug 2020 12:33 PM PDT

Currently building an end of league poison scourge arrow PF to see if I like the playstyle, and had a major question: does the 8% less damage from infused channeling (which should be less chaos damage taken from hits) affect the chaos damage taken from divine flesh? I'm assuming yes, as it seems like it should still be a hit (damage on the hit is just shifted to chaos). Anyone know for sure how the interaction works?

Why doesn't GGG show off new leagues during gaming events?

    Posted: 27 Aug 2020 10:06 AM PDT

With Gamescom today and the next league reveal being so close I wonder why they didn't just push up the trailer and info to show off during this? They have enough reputation in the industry and public to get a spot. This happened before I think this year with a similar event like E3 or something. I think it would be good to get their name out there a bit and show off a new league during one of these shows.

My experience with the gauntlet as someone who never played SSFHC

    Posted: 26 Aug 2020 05:09 PM PDT

I started playing PoE in metamorph and stuck to tradeleague softcore. I picked it up somewhat fast (I come from WoW at a relatively high level), went hard at it, and looking back my goal in each league has been to amass as much currency as possible. Ended metamorph with around 15ex, delirium with around 2 mirrors, and harvest with around 1 mirror. Like, that's what I remember the most from those leagues. Crafting, doing endgame content and trading were all the things I did in order to just "get rich", and I would be satisfied to see those shiny exalts in my currency tab at the end of a league.

And then the gauntlet race came along. I had watched the top streamers (especially steel) play the china race and more generally SSFHC gameplay, and I always thought this kind of stuff wasn't for me. Too much time, too much dependency on rng, not allowed to fail, etc. It seemed exhausting. But I figured why not, I'll subscribe and give it a try. I am currently out of a job and this seemed like a nice mid-league distraction.

I spent the first day dying to act 1. The coast, mud flats and Merveil all got the better of my first 5 characters. The 6th character though, it clicked. Go slow, always try to upgrade, take no risks and use that goddamn logout macro. It took me 2 days to finish the campaign, and by god the satisfaction of killing a10 Kitava was a completely different feeling than looking at my end-of-league currency tab.

Then I was lucky enough to stay alive for 3 more days through maps. I reached level 90 and finally died to a field of T2 blue seeds that shotgunned me (obligatory rip clip). And to my biggest surprise, I wasn't angry, I felt good. I had had so much fun getting to that point that it made the death okay.

One thing for sure is that in the future, I'll be playing SSF (haven't decided on the HC yet). The rewards of getting shit done all by yourself is just too good compared to the kind of dopamine hits I was getting in tradeleague.

A side note on harvest specifically as a league mechanic for this event. In my past comments on this subreddit, I've voiced my concern that harvest was a bit too OP, and said that GGG should try to find a middle ground between better deterministic crafting and the sheer OPness that harvest is right now.

However, I would lie if I said that Harvest was too OP for this particular gauntlet event. It was so good to craft great gear to fight mobs in such harsh conditions. I really feel for SSF players that got to taste the sweet fruits of harvest for a whole league, and who are about to lose it. Hopefully the next league mechanic will be good enough to fill that void.

Do you consider POE MTX expensive?

    Posted: 27 Aug 2020 04:43 AM PDT

Just a question out of curiosity.

Do you think the MTX is overpriced? & Would you rather have a flat fee for the game like maybe $10/$20 and then have cheaper MTX.

    Or

Do you think its in a good place?

At least in my case the MTX armour bundle's are around 1k Which is about 50% of my Groceries a month, and I like to think i buy quite "Lavishly" things. And the basic character models/Armour ect are lets be honest dated( I know POE 2 is otw) I mean I play'd a chieft and any kind of MTX would be better then the actual model.

And then do you think GGG should have your entire character model change based on ascendancy as a bit of a "Fluff" question

Edit: Im not trying to convince anyone of anything or trying to stir up anything just a genuine Shower thought type question

Final Edit: Thanks for all the comments in such a short time, I think I have a decent grasps, And I think we all can agree, MTX is not Mandatory in any way, It is a little pricey but it can be justified.

My personal view on it. I think that a lower cost would make me buy more of them? I dont mind seeing alot of small transactions on my bank accounts but big ones hurt so maybe its just a me type silly thing.

But again thanks for all the responses
