    12 Billion armour project - results, math, story

    TLDR calculations

    Aurabot with insane aura effect gives 64 K base evasion rating, scaled by uniques, passive tree, abyss jewels, and the holy spirit into nearly 4 million total evasion

    A massive Divergent Determination's quality gives 615% of evasion rating as armour ( 25 million BASE armour)

    Armour is scaled by uniques, cluster jewels, and an omega buffed Vaal Molten Shell

    BTW Determination also grants 763% more armour, just as usual

    After 4 broken calculators, 7 computer crashes, a triple overflowing integer, and a rescued puppy we got a big number:

    12,416,469,711 total armour

    Detailed calculations

    64,252 BASE evasion from lvl33 Grace aura with 1034% increased effect, Jade flask with x % increased effect, and from gear and jewels

    1167% total cold resistance from gear and lvl32 Purity of Ice and Elements with 554% and 914% increased effect

    420% increased defences from a support char with 7021 Strength and Mask of the Tribunal, nice

    3726% increased evasion rating from The Perfect Form unique body, evasion scaling tree and dexterity

    Story

    At every league's end Empy makes meme builds / projects that are funded by ingame donations from the players who quit the league. This league's project started out as an attempt to beat the 142,469 ES record in hideout The initial theorycrafts for the ES project started with 4 characters in: Mana guardian, Discipline bot, Strength stacker, and the ES scaling character itself. After the team had sat together and done the math for ES project, they realised they could reach around 120k energy shield, 20k ES short of the record, because of the rare item mod nerfs, guardian ascendency nerf, and lack of good synthesis-based ES crafts since the last project was done. T hey decided to go for a different record, which is taking benefit from currently very strong auras and new additions to the game from this league, the highest armour on a single character in hideout. As a byproduct of both playing discipline bot and making the tree for the min-maxed discipline bot, specifically for the energy shield project, they noticed that the build could be altered slightly to make it scale grace and determination instead.

    I - Márkusz - joined the day after Empy revealed the project on stream, I received already fairly minmaxed PoBs for the builds, however in PoE there is always room for improvement. The original plan was only the Grace+Determination aura stacker, Strength stacker, and the EV/AR final character, but every day we found something new to add. The idea of Formless Flame and Perfect Form changed a lot of gear choices, every place where we got dex, we instead tried to get resistances, and that's when we added 2 more builds, the Purity aura stacker, and the Necromancer. The new ideas and changes to the gear we could actually aquire came in right until the final moments when the builds were shown on stream. The final armour value was bouncing by hundreds of millions by each change, and we didn't even see higher than 10 billion until the final hours, when we added every final gear piece to the PoB, and also bought a divergent whirling blades as the last piece.

    The accompanying builds are scaling very different things, and some of them probably set a record in and of themselves:

    23183 Life Guardian This is a build only stacking maximum life, and reserving all of it, to grant a total of 37,093 flat armour. To put into perspective with the crazy aura stacking bonuses, in the end this bonus equals to only 1/3 of... one small passive node on the tree. Yet we spent multiple mirrors even on this build. This life number is most likely not an all time record because in the past temple and fossil mods on armour allowed a lot more possibilities (let alone standard items such as Legacy Kaom's heart with the new enchants)

    7021 STR Grants 420% increased defences from the Mask of the Tribunal unique helmet. This is by far the most minmaxed character we have thanks to the passion of Eirikeiken and Unveiling minmaxing passive trees, items, and divining timeless jewels countless times to hit exact bonuses we need at very specific locations on the tree (locations plural as we discovered more efficient pathings, we had to start again with the timeless jewels). One day before the final reveal when we first assembled the character ingame, we found out that the Split personality jewel, which grants a huge strength and intelligence bonus, simply doesn't work with Scion if it starts from a different place on the tree (this is a bug), so we had to redo the entire tree again, but we still achieved the desire to get the 420% defence bonus from this character.

    Grace+Determination aura stacker The backbone of this whole project, with the totally broken aura stacking currently available in the game scaling the single highest multiplier gem, Divergent Determination to it's absolute limits, enabling evasion scaling as a base, and granting 4700% more armour.

    Evasion and Armour scaling The most sugar child build in poe, starting with 25 Million base armour in it's pocket, brings it to it's highest potential by performing an incredible choreography in the game: hits itself with a flask to gain Wind Dancer Bonus, chugs Soul Ripper and 4 other flasks to cast VMS, carefully carrying 7 frenzy charges, and slides into success with whirling blades.

    Ingame results

    The numbers we saw ingame are unfortunately displaying incorrectly, simply because the armour number would be too big, so the integer storing it is overflowing, and displaying a very different number

    We even tried putting on dreamfeather sword, which scale attack damage from armour, but because of the overflow issues the game froze up (awakener) or the boss took no damage, or the boss took very little damage (shaper - 10-20 mil autoattack hits), even though we're supposed to have tens of billions of damage.

    This is probably a record that will not be beaten, because it exploits a mechanic that has been too op for a while now, aura stacking

    Still, there is of course a lot of room for improvement in some places, because we couldn't adjust and minmax everything for the later additions to the project.

    PSA: How to do the Aulen Greychain Immortal Call Encounters V challenge easily.

    I see this challenge being advertised on the TFT Discord channel for up to 3ex for completion (!) when it's really simple to do for most builds. I also see lots of people asking on how to do this challenge, and most of the answers are pretty subpar.

    The Newbie Guide doesn't exactly give you the best solution either.

    What You Need To Know:

    • The boss casts IC when he has endurance charges. He gets endurance charges by using Enduring Cry. If you try to do this challenge "naturally", it is infuriating because his IC windows are infrequent and long in-between. His Enduring Crys will also constantly heal him above culling range, which makes it even more annoying. He'll also spend most of his time Leap Slamming to your position if your build isn't tanky.

    What You Need:

    • Roughly 5c worth of alts/augs per attempt.

    • Build that does decent damage or has culling strike.

    • Level 15+ default Decoy Totem (1c, don't use the alt qualities).

    • Immortal Call linked to Increased Duration, buff this duration however you want.

    What To Do:

    • Craft a Fungal Hollow map with the suffix "Of Endurance" - Monsters Gain an Endurance Charge on Hit. This will give Greychain lots of endurance charge generation.

    • Run to Greychain.

    • Get him to culling range if you intend to cull, or low life (not in the PoE sense) if you have good damage control.

    • Cast Decoy Totem. This will default his attack to Sweep, he'll stop spamming Leap Slam at your character. It'll also distract any remaining adds.

    • He'll cast IC every 3-4 Sweeps, which is once every <10 seconds. He'll literally be spamming IC now.

    • Keep re-casting Decoy Totem, when you feel you're ready, cast your own Immortal Call, and then kill him. You have approximately a 1-1.5 second window when both your ICs overlap.

    Hope this helps, if all else fails just pay someone 2ex+ to do this exact sequence for you on TFT. :D

    I just found out, after trying to six link items thousands of times over the course of my poe lifetime, that you do NOT need to manually count the links in between each fuse application. I always assumed if you fused a six link item it would reroll the links...

    This FU is a close runner up to the year+ I spent manually right clicking each wisdom scroll to id rings instead of holding down shift.

    Don't be me. Learn the game controls.

    Tired of hearing all these "Remove x league because its outdated" posts. What about updating, improving, furthering it instead? A Legacy 2.0 where GGG focuses on older content has so much potential

    A league where older mechanics are revamped, buffed and even have their plot furthered based on the fact that an entity managed to erase your influence from Wraeclast history and development so they can evolve free of your interaction

    This wouldn't require to create a new full on league mechanic and would have the same effect as removing content by just making it Up to date and fresh

    POE with all its leagues is like a House, If a room in your house dates and is obsolete... you dont bulldoze it, you rework it, improve it, give it a new purpose, break a wall to merge 2 rooms

    just a league that focuses on older league mechanics, making them better and expanding them, here are EXAMPLES:

    Direct league buff:

    • Perandus: updated offers, refusing offer turns Cadiro into a gold golem or dragon you have to fight which drops coins equivalent to offer

    • prophecy: rework a lot of them like "kill x powerful frost monster" to drop random frost related item, "à la" strange barrel. Use prophecy to it's full potential of endgame side questing rather than only mindless mapping

    • strongboxes: they no longer drop items, the mods on them affect the monsters they create. Monsters created by those strongbox drop loot according to those strongboxes. So in order to have better loot or more of it, you have to make the monsters harder. People would be much more inclined into crafting a box if all the monsters within it are affected by the box modifiers and also more incline to make it harder with more and better monsters for better reward

    • rogue: create a story behind them, they are a baddies organization and you are asked to take care of them. They could be agents sent in the wilderness by Heist's bosses to collect the items you find in the chests. They could be the ones dropping contract and Marks when Heist is added to core

    Leagues merger:

    • Breach and Beyond are now merged: Beyond monsters could still spawn normally in Beyond modded maps but breach ground is a much more fertile ground to spawn beyond monsters(like another beyond mod on top). Beyond bosses are now lieutenant of Breachlords and spawn instead of em in breaches. Only boss making exception being Abaxoth, now relegated to the top boss of these leagues. Breachlords dropping fragments that open up Abaxoth's domain

    • Bestiary, metamorph, Harvest, talisman and essence are now linked: Tane is the one implanting beasts to make them powerful and Einhar wants you to investigate it and prove it to save Tane, his love interest. Tane's plan is to grow those organs and implant the most powerful ones in him to become Uber powerful, a Frankenbeast, the Metamorph boss we all wanted. Collected beasts still go in the menagerie through Einhar but Oshabi is the one taking care of them, beast taken care by oshabi can produce seeds. Like a Mother bird defending her nest, you have to kill the motherbeast in order to collect the seed for crafting purposed

      Beasts now being a common resource , you have to make the choice on which altar to sacrifice your beast. The altar of Corruption= Einhar's beast crafting, The altar of Science= Tane's metamorph, The Altar of Progress= Harvest crafting. You can save Beast and Harvest crafts into virgin essence shards, creating. Each type of essence we currently have would be used as results of Infusion. Infuse the Virgin Essence with the craft

      Augment with cold modifier: craft results in it turning into "Weeping essence of suffering" with 5 random mods, infused once more to upgrade it. The 5 mods are not GearSlot bound like current essence they are random mods from the global pool

    Oshabi is more about the modifiers of the item. We also fight her as a boss

    Einhar's beast crafting on the other hand is more about the base item, splits, implicits, sockets. Killing the 4 spirit bosses grant you access to the Spirit kingdom where you face a Chimeral creature bearing all aspects

    Tane is the one providing you with crafting material(Currency, bases,etc). We also fight him as a boss

    Note: Talismans now only drop from beasts and are no longer corrupted. They only drop t1 and their upgrade path is through Einhar.


    Potential lore behind such revamp

    All these leagues buff would be justified by a single entity Erjokri, developer of chaos(Erik, Jonathan, Chris, the founders, for those who have not realized), a fanatic that found a way to erase the influence you Had on wraeclast, therefor league mechanics managed to grow bigger. This guy is the mastermind behind all these afflictions on Wraeclast, he creates all these source of chaos to generate entropy which feeds him/or/ his device. He get tired of you ruining his plans and erases your effects on the growth of his source of disruptions.

    The closer you get to him, the more league mechanics he throws at you, creating a real and fun risk/reward gameplay. Such league would create a fun link between all league mechanics and would be a gameplay buff in term of quality rather than quantity

    No need to create much new content since its rooted in already existing content


    MOST IMPORTANT aspect to change to make previous content feel better would be taking This as a really nice occasion to also address the sad/bad tendency which makes newer leagues be more profitable in terms of league specific currency than the league they originated from. Bring back league restricted currency drop or at least make it incredibly more profitable to farm it in its own league

    example: delirium dropping loads of splinter and even breachstones while breach itself drops a couple of splinters... when it drops splinters,I'm looking at you Chayula

    This story, if well marketed could have as much if not more hype than new content itself, but if it happens to not generate as much hype as novelty league, this league would come out as a net benefit since it would improve the overall quality of the game by updating so much content

    sentiment which community seem to agree with

    Such league could still be pretty viable financially by GGG if they market their supporter pack (where most of the revenue comes from) appropriately. Ie: root the packs in nostalgia

    "Ignore crafted stats" checkbox for trade searches

    My suggestion to improve shopping on /trade

    Often you expect to replace the crafted mods on what you buy. Maybe you want specific amounts of natural suffix Resists but plan to craft a prefix. So, you can plug in the numbers but will have to scroll past results with crafted resists. Not usually much of a problem.

    When you're shopping for something to multimod, though, you need to go through multiple searches. Keeping a "1 empty pref OR 1 crafted pref", you then search once with "2 empty suff" and then again with "1 empty suff 1 crafted suff" and then again with "2 crafted suff". You might even need to keep 3 live searches going at a time if results are sparse.

    I could get more specific such as an Amulet without "+ Max Mana" unless it's crafted.

    You could just exclude everything already crafted, of course, but that defeats the purpose of the search by skipping many desirable results when it can be rough shopping already.

    So, a checkbox that forces the search to ignore stats added from crafted mods would be a nice QOL improvement for trading.

    I love endgame mapping, but trading for mapping currency is awful

    The process of buying stuff like scarabs, delirium orbs, and chisels really takes a lot of the fun out of the endgame for me. I know Chris Wilson likes the human interaction part about trading, but every time I get to endgame, a little part of me dies knowing that we don't even have a currency/fragment auction house.

    The real problem is that buying stuff like delirium orbs and scarabs isn't just about maximizing profit/hour. Those currencies make the maps WAY more fun. This game is amazing, but having fun maps shouldn't be locked behind trading with players.

    Temple Mod + Double Spell Skill Modifier Staff

    Hey all, I found this in SSF and I was thinking of trying to build around it in SSF or possibly migrate to trade league to do the same. Prefixes cannot be changed can be easily crafted on, to then scour and multi-mod. Is this kind of roll as rare and as good as it seems? Anyone have any ideas on what builds would be good? The first that comes to mind is GC mines, but I've never been a big fan of mines. Thanks all for the advice and input!

    'Nearby Enemies take 9% increased Physical Damage' with Pristine + Jagged

    According to craftofexile.com 'nearby enemies take...' should be crafted in 9 tries average with jagged, same with jagged + pristine. But for some reason after about 200 tries i still can't get this mod using pristine + jagged. Just jagged works fine, i'm getting mod within 5-10 tries. What am i doing wrong? :D Feels really bad, cause jaggeds currently are about 35:1ex and this helmet eats my currency without any decent outcome. How unlucky should i be to not get it with so many tries? xD Any chances that 'nearby enemies take inc damage' has 'defence' tag hidden for some reason and pristine removes it from pool?

    Edit: crafting 86 ilvl elder Royal Burgonet (highest armour base).

    Edit2: thinking about 'defence' tag cause same -res mods have 'resistance' tag.

    The previous leagues i always gave my currency and gear to friends of mine or sometime to just random people in the acts.

    But after the recently increasing post of people getting banned i am kinda worried i cant give it away for free.

    Is it still possible or should i keep my stuff and take it to standard?

    I instantly get demotivated to keep pushing, especially if its during the Watchstone Acquirement Phase where maps sustain is super tight. I don't know man, that's just not fun.
