Do you have a standard character that you come back to from time to time?

    Posted: 26 Dec 2020 01:10 PM PST

I'm not talking about some meta builds that you might use to farm many exes per hour on standard.

I mean a character with a specific mechanic that you like to come back to, and for example the league doesn't give you too much opportunity to play this build every few months. Or you just like most your maxed char on standard.

For example, I would go back to RF if my build was not useless anymore, and the new method (Chieftian) is not interesting for me.

Is playing blind a terrible idea for a newcomer?

    Posted: 26 Dec 2020 12:20 PM PST

    Hi, all.

I downloaded PoE last night after spending months too intimidated by the game's complexity to do it. I tried watching some guides for new players and got even more confused (not trying to bash anyone who made those, I actually understand it must be a LOT of work to try to be concise when explaining this game to new players, and it's more than likely my own fault as I don't have much experience with these kinds of games).

I really wanted to play more or less blind on my first time, just so I can get a general sense of how everything works (hopefully). Some people seem to say that going in blind, or at least without a build guide, is suicide and a waste of time. But I've also seen others say that you don't need a min-maxed build to reach at least the end of the story. Based on your experience, what would you suggest? Sorry if this question has been asked millions of times.

I play on PS4 and am considering choosing the Witch, if it matters.

Are there any cheap movement speed builds to go really fast?

    Posted: 26 Dec 2020 12:46 PM PST

I don't even care about clearing all the content or clear speed. I just want to go fast.

Also I'm not new but I'm really poor so if I could afford the build that would be great.

I wish hideout mtx would be given at least as stacks and I think that it would be best for everyone to do so.

    Posted: 25 Dec 2020 04:36 PM PST

I know that it has been told a lot, but I've mostly seen it in comments of posts, so I take the opportunity to truly write one about this problem a majority of us have.

Pretty much everyone knows by now that hideout mtx are almost worthless, and I don't think it is an exaggeration to say that in almost every case having an hideout decoration in a mystery box is considered the worst draw to get. However, there is definitely a good amount of people that enjoys a lot to decorate their hideout, some (myself included) loving to take a few dozens of hours to do it. Finally, it is obviously subjective, but I find that there are really nice decorations in the shop and in some mystery boxes. So taking all of that into account, there is surely a problem about the way these mtx are sold and not about their appearance or the hideout system in a whole (I don't say that it is perfect. Like everything in every game there are flaws, but to be fair it's for me pretty damn good already).

What is the problem then, is it too expensive ? I don't think so, some really good ones are pretty cheap. There isn't a lot of choices ? Nop nop I didn't count but there are a ton of different ones. The real problem is that they are sold one by one. To get 10 Oriath Citizen you have to pay it 10 times, so to spend 500 points. Now it begins to be expensive... The same happens in boxes where we would feel let down by having for instance a single arch to place in our hideout. It is obviously not the only type of mtx that suffers from this, but in my opinion it is the one that suffers the most. Indeed, when decorating an hideout it is really, really rare to use a unique decoration only once. To make the whole hideout prettier, more symmetric, logical or whatever you would need multiple instances of the same object.

You will then tell me that in this case GGG is right : If people need to buy it more than once, they will spend more ! However it obviously doesn't work like that. When pretty much asking people to buy multiple times the same thing to make it usefull and worth it, almost nobody will be willing to buy it. I guess that it is the case for every business model, it's truly taking their customers for idiots.

My proposition would then be to make every purchase of decoration mtx as a stack, for instance of 4-5 which is already way more usable in hideouts. We obviously can't ask to make them infinitely usable as some suggested (even as buyable with favors from masters), because then it would be us that take GGG for idiots. A bit more usefulness without asking for too much. The same for boxes, where when given a decoration it would be as a stack of the same quantity as in the shop, which would make this reward already way more meaningful for a lot of players.

I don't have any statistics of course, and the numbers "4-5" are only an educated guess, but I'm pretty sure that doing it would increase the sales of decorations by more than 4-5 times, taking into account that more mystery boxes would be sold because less people will think that there are worthless draws to get. So in a whole that would make it worth it for GGG while I think that it is not really time-consuming for them to make this change happen. And definitely worth it for us players ! Please make it happen at some point, for us that love to build awesome hideouts !

There may be better suggestions than the one I'm proposing, but at least I would like to try to make this problem more seen by GGG and to let them think of an ideal solution if not this one. Also I know that a lot of people don't like that, but I apologize if there are some english mistakes, it's not my first language. At least I think that it's understandable enough to make it a valid point.

Tldr; Mtx decorations should be sold and received from mystery boxes as a stack, even not large (for the same or slightly higher price than it is now) to make it worth it for GGG and the players.
