I think a lot of people are underestimating the defensive power of Petrified Blood

    Posted: 09 Apr 2021 06:22 PM PDT

Let's talk Petrified Blood for a minute. I've seen lots of folks talking about how much damage we can expect to see from Petrified Blood and along with that is the caveat "I just don't know if it's enough to make up for halving my eHP"

When we get gem info I think this line will make or break it "x% of damage taken is spread out over time". This concept is just so strong that if x is more than 50 then this will pretty much always be a defense buff for life builds.

But that's not where this gets really crazy. Where it really pops off as a defensive layer is for pathfinders who will ignore the offensive part of it and run around with full life from their infinite flasks while also having a massive chunk of damage almost ignored. Even at values lower than 50% I'm calling it now, this will be used by every flaskfinder.

What do y'all think am I overestimating this skill?

Edit: just had a thought. Will be curious to see if it becomes popular with on HC as it theoretically buys you more time to log out. Or maybe it just makes the damage sneak up on you. Guess we'll find out soon enough.

New Death's Oath support link - Lifeblood replacing Arcane Surge

    Posted: 09 Apr 2021 01:27 PM PDT

Lifetap support has the same "lasts 4 seconds" text as arcane surge, so it should give death's aura the duration tag to enable swift affliction and has an all damage multiplier if you keep it up with a secondary skill. 20% more at lvl 1, maybe 35% more at 20 if it's the same scaling as fortify support.

With the new Essence of Hysteria you can get a 7-link low-life soulrend for decent boss damage without sacrificing as much clear as previously.

Overall not enough to make the build great, but at least you can now clear T16 and their bosses without having to invest way to much currency.

    Trickster Reap LL Theorycrafting

    Posted: 09 Apr 2021 07:49 PM PDT

Hey guys, been theorycrafting a Trickster Low-life reap build since seeing the skill in action + the changes to low-life and the addition of petrified blood, and I wanted to see what others thought/get suggestions etc.

    PoB: https://pastebin.com/9Z9GKL6x

    Substitutes used:

    • Soulrend in place of Reap, which I believe will have similar damage scaling from 1-20 considering their base damage at level 1 are nearly identical.
    • Chaos damage multi in place of phys damage multi when I cannot get generic multi.
    • Void Manip at level 40 to simulate what Brutality will do for Reap. Missing ~10% more damage from a level 5 awakened brutality, accounted for in vigilant strike jewel.
    • There are a few instances, such as from the Large cluster jewels, where my passives add physical damage, and so I have increased Chaos damage accordingly within the Vigil jewel.
    • Summon Skitterbots to simulate the mana reservation cost of Petrified blood. I will also use Skitterbots in the main build.

Offensively, this build focuses on scaling the DoT portion of Reap to reach pretty good levels of DPS. No conversion or ailments being applied, purely scaling the physical damage. This results in a somewhat low cap on the DPS, but decent DPS won't be too hard to achieve.

    Offensive Overview:

    • 1.36m DPS before taking into account the blood charges
    • The Dot portion is 1.23M (1.84M with charges), while the flat damage is 133k
    • 2.04m with 5 blood charges total DPS. Realistically, the DoT will be the main way of dealing damage + the initial hit of the first cast, so will be ~1.9M DPS. As the damage is physical, I have not checked Sirius in config as physical dots are not reduced by bosses (afaik). The initial hit will be reduced however, so DPS will more likely be in the 1.8M range.

Not terrible, but not amazing either, at least when compared to some of the top tier builds currently. However, I do think the majority of those builds will be nerfed significantly, and 2M dps will be respectable again. Regardless, that kind of DPS is still enough to deal with any boss, especially considering it's a DoT. The dps will still pale in comparison to bleed though, unless bleed receives big nerfs.

Corrupting fever may be worth tossing in without links, though the life costs may prove too much when combined with the already high cost of Reap while the damage might be weak. We do scale its damage though, so definitely worth trying out.

Defensively, the build stacks damage reduction from multiple sources as well as gets a large amount of dodge and a decent life pool and regen, while also using petrified blood to make low-life viable without a ton of ES.

    Defensive Overview:

    • 185% life from the tree (including clusters), with potential to get more if needed.
    • Total life-pool of 5.8k, reserved life pool of 2.9k
    • Total Damage reduction: Fortify (~20%) + Flesh & Stone (11%) + enfeeble (~5% on endgame bosses) + Shrouds (~6% as it is reduced instead of less) + Wind Dancer (20% if haven't been hit recently) + Kintsugi (20% if haven't been hit recently) for a total of 42% DR that is almost always up, and 82% DR that is up if you haven't been hit recently
    • 490 base life regen, 835 if on consecrated ground (likely when using bottled faith). If an enemy has died from your dot, these values go to 820-1420 respectively. Life leech = 260
    • Base 40% dodge, 40% attack dodge, and 40% spell dodge. Blind can be frequently applied with ball lightning or if an enemy is near, increasing dodge to 70%. These values are further increased using Jade and Quartz flasks, as well as Vaal grace. As well, if you get hit, your dodge increases by quite a bit thanks to kintsugi and wind dancer.
    • Petrified Blood takes at least 60% of a hit and turns it into a DoT (though not actually considered as a DoT, so not reduced by any DR). I think at level 20 it will likely be a 50/50 split, so we take 50% dmg up front then take the rest over 4 seconds. This will allow us to remain at half hp (low-life) and tank massive hits without dying outright. Calculation examples are shown below.
    • ~970 ES which can make a big difference when determining whether we survive a massive hit or not.

This build could be really good defensively, or really shit. It's kind of hard to tell until it's tested in-game. By the numbers it looks good, but some situations such as getting shotgunned or hit by big attacks in quick succession will likely mean a total rip. DoTs will also be really deadly as well; you will really want a jewel that prevents corrupted blood. Probably not hardcore viable, will definitely be running it Softcore first.

Calculation example from Petrified blood (assuming 50/50 at lvl 20):

    Tanking a 25k hit:

    Direct Damage Taken: 25,000 * 0.18 = 4500, 4500 * 0.5 = 2,250, 2,250 - 970 = 1280. Less than half our hp, so we can theoretically tank >50k.

    DoT: 2,250 / 4 = 562.5, 562.5 - 490 = 72.5dps over 4 seconds. Life Leech should cover this easily.

Of course, this is assuming (mostly) the best case scenario (haven't been hit recently, have full ES, not nearby the damage source, fortify/enfeeble is active), and that I didn't mess up any calculations/misunderstand any mechanics.

Also, DR makes a huge difference, and if even one DR source is missing it can mean the difference between life and death.

    Final thoughts:

I think overall this build shows promise, and I'm pretty confident it will perform well enough to clear endgame.

I think as a league starter it could be rough, and you may need to run ED/Contagion until you have at least a 5l Kintsugi and maybe a level 3 enlighten.

The cluster jewels are pretty much non-negotiable as well, though these have been easier to get with the atlas changes.

Cold Iron Points are probably gonna be pricey, but using +1 phys wands w/ spell damage should be good enough even in reds.

Not sure how rough the life costs will be to handle for Reap. If the cost scales similarly to Soulrend, then we're looking at ~250 hp per cast at max charges. When we're also taking a big DoT from PB, spamming Reap could end up PKing ourselves. Thankfully that's the power of DoT, you won't need to spam Reap, just need to maintain max charges on bosses.

I have a feeling the vigilant strike->40sec fortifiy combo will be nerfed. If so, hardened scars anoint could also be used to maintain fortify, and this way may even be more favourable as there's no need to weapon swap and smack a bitch every 40 seconds. Main issue, however, is that you'll likely want to use an enduring hybrid flask so that fortify is actually up for the big hits, and relying on flasks like that in a boss fight is no bueno. Ultimately I think vigilant strike combo getting nerfed would really suck for this build, as fortify is really important defensively.

I also theory-crafted some more budget gear/more realistic early ladder setup in the PoB if anybody is curious. DPS is roughly 450k, life ~2.7k, should still have all the DR sources as it assumes a 5L kintsugi.

Huge post I know, but for some reason I'm really excited about this build and I want to see what others are thinking. Maybe this is a bit too early as we haven't gotten skill gem numbers yet, nor even patch notes/manifesto, but meh, I typed it up already so many as well hit submit.

Theorycrafting a Petrified Blood + Bloodthirst hybrid/ll Inquisitor Doomfletch blast rain character

    Posted: 09 Apr 2021 01:37 PM PDT

    Concept

The idea here is to actually go low-life, but with a high HP pool to make use of both bloodthirst (2% of max life as added phys when low life) and petrified blood (some damage taken to life while <50% is taken over time instead). Then use doomfletch to scale the massive added flat phys.

The target would be 8k life (4k reserved) and 4k es. Bloodthirst would then add ~800 edps.

Inquisitor seems like the strongest options, because of the strong hybrid recovery, good crit / stat scaling, ailment immunity, and resist ignore. Elementalist is worth keeping in mind, too, though. I'm leaning toward rain of arrow for clear, and blast ran for single target, because of the high damage effectiveness.

    Challenges

    • Actually getting that health pool (gotta trade off against just using the coward belt)
    • Getting adequate %increased damage, %increased attack speed, and crit multi with bows on the left side of the tree.
    • Getting as close to 51% life reserved as possible.

Auras would be petrified blood (not an aura), discipline, vitality, precision.

I'll update with PoBs as I work on it

Edit: this is the best I was able to do on first pass - https://pastebin.com/9iPYgzDC

Only 7k life, and even that felt like a stretch. That would give an ehp pool of 3.5k life + 4.5k es = 8k total, with 2.2k life regen. Damage seems pretty decent but not astounding.

Thoughts on Blast Rain Raider / Deadeye ?

    Posted: 10 Apr 2021 04:11 AM PDT

Last time i played ranger was a blast rain raider some years ago. I'm thinking about trying it again next league: Blast Rain Raider / Deadeye with lighting arrow or ice shot for clear.

How is blast rain these days ? I noticed there aren't any build guides for it, is it just unpopular or is it a bit too weak ?

    Group SSF Support build

    Posted: 10 Apr 2021 01:53 AM PDT

Hi, does anyone have a build suggestion for aura/curse/other support for private League.

We will be 5 people leveling together and for the rest og the league, i will probably be playing with one or two guys at the time. We are all casual players but with a good understanding of the game. But the build doesn't have to be able to do T16 100% delirium.

As it is SSF-group, I cant be guaranteed to get uniques like Prism Guardian, Shavs, Mana Vault and so on.

Is it still possible to make a somewhat decent support character ?

How To Level BV Poison Assassin?

    Posted: 09 Apr 2021 04:18 PM PDT

    hey,

i played bv poison in heist (my last league), really liked it and might play it in the upcoming league as well. so this isn't so much a question about the build itself, but how to level it. i tend to always level my builds asap, meaning in this case, BV once i get it in A1. which most of the time is rather slow.

so my question is: whats the fastest way to level this until i get unleash? caustic arrow? what links? puncture for single target? any guides or vods or anything that show the early leveling process?

    thanks

Poe 3.13 Self-cast Hydrosphere Archmage Agnostic MOM Elementalist build ...

    Posted: 09 Apr 2021 02:34 PM PDT

Hi guys, just wanna share a niche build with you.

    https://youtu.be/jvP7cit5ly0

I spent all my currency & craft all gear by myself to push self-cast hydrosphere to viable level.

Somehow managed to make it but it is not as strong as popular build of course.

    Build concept:

    1. Used 8 link helmet & archmage to push the damage
    2. Main damage output is from the pulse (increased to 3.2 pulse/sec by gem quality&enchant)
    3. Shock the ball with void sphere&orb of storm ( with LV4 enhance & alternate quality& CDR, the CD of voidsphere can be lower to 4 sec parallel to spell trigger CD, but not worth to push it to this way)
    4. Block to recover mana
    5. Agnostic to regen life & Use RF for more damage 50/50 MOM

    Pros:

    1. Niche
    2. Viable for all content with good gear

    Cons:

    1. Not very tanky, sometimes got one shot while you are on low mana ( Can tank Shaper punch though)
    2. Hard to gear up, i crafted all gear by myself
    3. Since hydrosphere has small AOE and need to be shocked consistently to make it pulse, you might have to choose between Heart of destruction(More AOE) & Shaper of the storms(Easier to shock).

    POB: https://pastebin.com/6QBZKexa

Welcome for any idea to make it better. the main weakness of this build is the survivability while on low mana after few cast

    Potentially insane petrified blood champion

    Posted: 09 Apr 2021 08:22 PM PDT

I really wanted to play a reap build at league start, but I also really want to try some petrified blood low-life shenanigans, and bloodthirst. Since bloodthirst only works for attacks, I decided to try my hand at theory-crafting some sort of low-life build with incredibly high max life, in an attempt to take advantage of the large added damage from bloodthirst. I went with champion, for the fortify damage reduction, and the permanent adrenaline since it's low life. After a bit of math, I've determined that the build should theoretically be capable of tanking a shaper slam, but only does around 200K DPS. This is still very much a prototype, and won't be working completely properly until POB is updated with the new gems, but it seems promising, and I'm wondering if anyone can come up with any ways to scale the damage up much more without sacrificing the incredible tankiness. (Also, chances are my math is completely wrong, and the build takes and deals either much more or much less damage than I think it does.)

Here's the POB if anyone wants to take a look, my math is in the notes if you're curious about that at all.

Thoughts on Abyss jewel stacker builds next league?

    Posted: 09 Apr 2021 06:25 AM PDT

With the addition of Tecrod's Gaze and the changes to Abyss jewel mods, do you think we will be seeing an increase in builds stacking them? Replica Shroud of the Lightless / Bubonic Trail are coming into mind as a potentially high impact combo.

We're still yet to see the other three new unique jewels, but this might be a very interesting league for building around Abyssal sockets.

Beginner here - need some advice and help on a Minion Bomber Build

    Posted: 09 Apr 2021 04:18 PM PDT

I don't know if this is the right subreddit for this, if not, sorry.

I started playing PoE a good month ago. A friend of mine recommended playing with a build guide right away, so I picked up Enki's Arc Witch build and just loved it! After playing for a while, I got problems playing through red maps and realized I had chosen a starter build that wasn't made for the endgame. I decided to look for a new endgame build and somehow got hyped on summoner builds.

After hours of research, I decided to go with Kay's Minion Bomber build. Due to vacation, I was able to play a lot of PoE this week and started a new character. After an endless grind, trading, and some Exalted drops, I tried to recreate the Minion Bomber build. I thought I had built a solid base and was close to the items used in the guide. But instead of rocking Tier 16 maps, I always die. My Minions are a blast, they destroy everything in less than a second. But when I get a hit, I'm usually a one-hitter. Now I'm really disappointed and here for some advice and some help to improve my build. The only thing I haven't done yet are pantheons, but I don't think that's the problem (correct me if I'm wrong).

It's so frustrating to put so much time into a build only to find out that I somehow screwed up a lot of things. Because of my work, I don't always have as much time as this and next week, which is why I wanted to build myself a good character to play with after my vacation.

I'm grateful for any advice! Thanks in advance if anyone takes the time to help me.

Bloodthirst Support for low life attack builds: how good is it?

    Posted: 09 Apr 2021 08:14 AM PDT

First of all, Bloodthirst is weird in that it gives you a percent of your max health as flat added phys, so despite requiring low life you still have to invest in life. It's clear that GGG wants to create a new type of LL build that doesn't rely solely on ES. Even then, how good will Bloodthirst have to be to make it worth it?

At level 1 Bloodthirst gives 2% of max life as added phys and 10% more damage. Unlike Pain Attunement for spells, this is a support gem so you'll also have to account for the gem that it's replacing as well. With 6k health, that's 120 flat phys for a level 1 gem.

What stats does a level 20 gem need for it to be competitive with a normal 49% more damage support gem? Especially since you'll have to go low life for it to work, and the only really good low life attack weapons seem to be Dreadbeak and Replica Last Resort.

Suggest a build for next league please.

    Posted: 09 Apr 2021 07:09 PM PDT

If there is a sticky for this please delete my post, but there probably should be a sticky, I see this question all the time.

Anyways I'm a causal+ I play one character a league to end game, unless I get bored or tht league sucks.

I'm looking for a good all around character, jack of all trades, I played ignite elementalist last league was fun, first ignite build ive ever played, was fun.

I've played chaos dot builds too many times so those are out, including toxic rain/CA.

I really want to play a char that's tanky, I am not the best at paying attention and I need that extra barrier.

I love melee builds but they always seem to suck.

Also I want enough damage to kill any boss and clear decently (not speed clear)

Any ideas are welcome... Thank you.

Help progressing/finishing Int stacking Whispering Ice Build

    Posted: 09 Apr 2021 06:49 PM PDT

    Hey all, HopsRevenge here.

I hit 24/40 for the first time ever, and am really enjoying this build, but don't know where to go next. I'm trying to prioritize upgrades I should make now vs things that can wait till after the transition to standard.

I want my build to be able to do beefy 100% deli maps, and feel the DPS isn't there yet.

    https://pastebin.com/vJhA8Dfi

Things I know need to happen: Fix cold resist so I can drop the chest enchant and use +6% increased attributes, drop evasion on the ring and replace with ES, drop stun and block recovery on helm and chest (how do I target annulling that?)

Otherwise, I'm looking for general feedback about mistakes I may have made, optimizations I don't know enough to guess, etc etc.

Someone in 4040 who doesn't play standard was kind enough to give me 10ex after they finished 40 and burned out. I spent some of that on the megolomaniac and some on the rightmost large cluster jewel. I've got 7ex left. I'm not sure if I should be saving for HUGE upgrades, or making a series of small upgrades. Or just using what I have and crafting?

Thanks in advance for your help! I love this community, I have learned so much from all the posts here.
