Relax! Play PoE Stress-Free with These 3.14 Ultimatum SSF Guides (1-Button playstyles that let you use whatever items PoE gives you, at the pace you prefer.)

    Hey Everyone!

I've finished my three guides for 3.14! I'm really excited for this league and personally have no clue which build I'm going to play. I think they all suit the content really well/equally.

My guides are all one-button builds that don't require piano-playing flasks or skill spamming. You can play with one hand and snack with the other until you need to heal. (Obviously not a good idea in HC ;-). I don't play HC myself but I have a lot of people that play my builds in HC as the guides offer very easy customization and personalization.)

That considered, I'm a HUGE fan of looting possibilities. So none of my builds revolve around any specific type of fancy gear or mod(s). Outside of the basics (life & resists), you can use any gear you like. The whole experience, from button pressing to looting, is quite laid back. You can just pick up and play straight from the league's start and clear/complete the Atlas no matter the build you choose. The builds work well for both new players and the experienced. There's lots of freedom to personalize the builds to your preference.

(Obviously, you need good gear to do good content but the idea is that I'm not going to marry you to certain mods or items to get there.)

Anyway, if you give any of the builds a shot, let me know what you think in their respective threads!

I hope you all have a great 3.14, no matter the build you're playing. (I also secretly hope you die way more than me ;-).)

    You all rock!

I've been playing around in PoB. No cluster and the gear might not be "day 1" but it's not super crazy either. The influenced pieces are there to bump the block, you can use a rumi flask and anvil in the meantime.

    PoB in comments.

Edit: you can remove two str nodes to instead take the dex node going towards warrior's blood, my mistake. It might be more convenient, if you need to add int or dex (+30 nodes) to keep the old pathing tho.

For onslaught against bosses, use a silver flask instead of the basalt flask.

Edit 2: thanks to "very angry englishman" I've realized that by taking out the soul Taker we end up having mana issues. Check my reply to his comment for some possible solutions.

FYI for those planning to play DD - So after GGG nerfing Harvest spectres with 45k life (lv84) by about 50%, there will be even more new Ultimatum spectres with 41k

    Posted: 16 Apr 2021 01:19 AM PDT

EDIT - FORGET ABOUT THIS POST I COMPARED TO ALREADY NERFED PRIMAL LIFE

    https://poedb.tw/us/Frosted_Cogwork#Metadata_Monsters_LeagueUltimatum_Golem_SkitterbotColdSpectre

    https://poedb.tw/us/Stormcharged_Cogwork#Metadata_Monsters_LeagueUltimatum_Golem_SkitterbotLightningSpectre

There are also "Brittle"/Weak counterparts to these two which I'm unsure if which are spectrable separately.

On another note though, depends entirely on the spell behaviour and AI, but these two seem like good candidates to test for actual spectre builds too - good base damage on spells (though a bit slow cast speed)

Chainbreaker + "Skills have no Cost while Focussed" (veiled amulet mod)

    Posted: 16 Apr 2021 12:24 AM PDT

The wording was "Skills cost no mana when focussed" previously, so now it should apply to mana, life and rage cost.

Assuming you can map while paying the rage cost (BV, non-natural Mines because of their 30% cost multiplier support, as well as any LL+Ele skill in a fractured double-Essence Helmet), this veiled mod allows spamming your skill with berserk (or prelay mines) during the 4 seconds of focus.

    Building around Mahuxotl's Machination

    Posted: 15 Apr 2021 11:24 PM PDT

So if I understand correctly, the main point of this shield is to make proper and consistent use of Everlasting Sacrifice (When you reach full Energy Shield, Sacrifice all Energy Shield to gain +5% to all Maximum Resistances for 4 seconds). Now this combined with the new Immortal Ambition can be pretty tricky in terms of filling up your energy shield pool every 4s, but this is where pathfinder and flask abuse comes in:

First we make use of Tempered by War (50% of Cold and Lightning Damage taken as Fire Damage, 50% less Cold Resistance, 50% less Lightning Resistance), coupled with Divine Flesh we no longer have to scale both cold or lightning resist. This is the first major benefit.

Next, we make use of Sorrow of the Divine because of this key line: "Life Recovery from Flasks also applies to Energy Shield during Flask Effect" What this means on PF is that you can instantly trigger full es (assuming it's low enough, which is should be) by just using one strong instant divine life flask. So this solves the condition for activating Everlasting Sacrifice.

After this, it's just a game of capping both our chaos and fire resistance and stacking as much physical taken as fire or chaos modifiers to build up a healthy phys mitigation as well.

Sure, the shield does stop us from being able to regenerate life and halves the effect of vaal pact's max leech rate, but if we're pathfinder and abusing a life flask with such heavy mitigation this becomes somewhat of a non-issue in my eyes (we could also do recover life on kill for mapping purposes, say cinderswallow).

In summary, with a reasonable amount of investment we're left with:

    • 85% max chaos resistance
    • 80% max fire resistance
    • no need to scale cold OR lightning resistance
    • overleech (from immortal ambition, which can be used for various cluster notables or mods on gear that have strong effects)

If there's anything you wish to add or correct please let me know, because this seems like it could be an insanely strong way to build defences on a pathfinder that can also use a shield.

Edit: /u/blvcksvn has posted an important caveat to be aware of with this strategy and poses a simpler solution, limited to spells though:

Note that you'll only heal the amount you heal from your life, so if your life is full an instant flask will do nothing to ES. Petrified Blood (with no life reserved) may be needed here to make full effect of your flask. This nullifies Immortal Ambition's overleech mechanic in favor of PB's half life overleech. I have a better alternative as well: https://pathofexile.fandom.com/wiki/Demon_Stitcher

Sacrifice 5% of Life to gain that much Energy Shield when you Cast a Spell This will let you reliably gain ES as you cast.

Edit 2: The only other semi-automatic setup I can think of is using The Devouring Diadem for Feast of Flesh and Corpsewalker. The issue with this is that you'll only have 80% uptime without some duration extension on Everlasting Sacrifice (4 sec / 5 sec)

Edit 3: tested Sorrow of the Divine with an instant flask and it seems to apply the whole recovery to es even if you're only short 1 hp, this is very important as you won't need to chunk yourself very hard before using this combo to recover to full es!

(face)tanky mistake forgiven builds for 3.14?

    Posted: 15 Apr 2021 11:56 PM PDT

    Hi there!

I played an BF/BB chieftain in 3.13 and it was a BLAST , it melted T16 maps/bosses while beeing absurdly tanky, after a decent amount of harvets crafting for sure.
Im looking for an similar build in terms of defense layers and being able to tank and forgive me some mistakes.

2 builds im currently looking in are:
Bleed bladestorm gladiator and a slam/eq champ. But i never played them and i dont know how "facetanky" they are.

    Any recommendations?

Exotic Max Block Stormwall BV Inquisitor Starter

    Posted: 16 Apr 2021 01:24 AM PDT

Hey, figured BV got nerfed, it is still really good.

Tree is level 95, but there are heaps of nodes you could drop

BV Gem is level 16 to simulate nerfs, other gems are Level18 with 0 Qual to imitate a league start situation.

Hits max block and 1.7m DPS with an Amulet and a Weapon, so tons of customization options.

Let me know what you think about it.

Miner: GC vs BL vs Blazing Salvo

    Posted: 15 Apr 2021 08:17 PM PDT

So I'm trying to avoid "spoilers" for this league to try a new "experience" this time, so I basically don't know much but got a question about a build.

After get some help on another post I've made about BA Elementalist and learnt that I probably gonna need more than a Xoph and some X or Y item to get going on this build (and considering I won't have the time nor the skill to get enough currency on the first week) I probably will start Miner but I'm not sure of the skill yet. I've read that those three can be good: Glacial Cascade, Blazing Salvo, Ball Lightning.

From the reveal trailer it seems that we will have some sort of arena like in Ritual so GC could be a good idea to freeze and push away mobs or wouldn't make that difference?

Between those three, can anyone tell me the pros/cons of each?

But yea, I can't decide between those three haha

PSA: Shaped Call of the Brotherhood will likely cost up to 4x (~50 ex) more than before

    Posted: 15 Apr 2021 02:18 PM PDT

With the removal of many league specific mod tags, the general loot pool has been invaded by a lot of uniques that have lost their league-specific tags. The way to obtain a shaped COTB ring was to pick a Shaper-Influenced Two-Stone Ring and either chance it or use Trash to Treasure Prophecy. This would've been 100% guaranteed as success if done in your hideout, as the other Unique Two-Stone Rings were not obtainable in the hideout due to league specific flags.

However with the addition of many items in the general loot pool, the 3 variants of the "Berek's" Unique Two-Stone rings might have also been introduced to the general loot pool - since just as Headhunter, they were Nemesis items. So now with Chancing/Trash2Treasure you might have a 1 in 4 (25%) chance to hit COTB - which for a build using 2 of them means a potential 80-100 ex investment - compared to a previous 20-25.

I would absolutely love to be wrong, as I was really planning on an Eternity Shroud build this league

EDIT: Apparently it would be only 1/2 not 1/4 as the other Berek rings check against the Two-Stone Ring's base resists

Which of these starters scale well/the best

    Posted: 16 Apr 2021 05:00 AM PDT

    My current considerations are:

Carrion golems (bit worried the nerf hit them too hard)

    Mage skellies

    Soulwrest

    Animate weapon

    Inquisitor storm brand

    Elementalist arma brand

    Elementalist fireball

    Coldslinger

Though I do make multiple builds each league I do prefer that my starter progresses nicely through red maps to bosses and lets me scale it to 15+ mill shaper dps without too much pain while retaining good clear (ayyy original archmage stormbrand) cause i fucking hate leveling with a passion even with full leveling gear.

Hope you all having a great day and best of luck on league start
