    Path of Building Community 2.0.0: CoC, General's Cry, Total Build DPS, Optimisations and more

    Announcement

    • The big 2.0 update is finally out with some pretty large features that have been long requested.
    • Full support for triggered skills, either from Cast on Crit or from an item such as Cospri's Malice.
    • Support for skills that are triggered by General's Cry
    • Combined DPS from multiple skills in a build such as multiple different minions.
    • Performance improvements that reduce the amount of RAM used, speed up calculations for gem recommendations and optimise the node power calculations on the tree.
    • PoB will now also import your cluster jewel nodes without you needing to manually allocate them every time you reimport your characters tree.

    =============PLEASE READ============

    The new feature to add a total DPS for all your active skills is much more performance taxing when sorting by "Full DPS". This is especially true when using the node power sorting on the tree and having multiple skills in your "Full DPS" list (can take 40s with 5 active skills in a build on my system that has a 12 core 5900x and RTX 3080)

    This update changes a large amount of code so it might be a bit more buggy than usual

    Changes

    • Add support for many trigger-based skills and items ( Nostrademous )
      • Cast on Critical Strike
      • Cast on Melee Kill
      • Cast while Channelling (updated)
      • Crafted "Trigger a Socketed Spell when you Use a Skill"
      • Crafted "Trigger Socketed Spell when you Focus" (requires Configuration Tab "Are you Focussed?" being check-marked)
      • Cospri's Malice
      • Mjolner
      • Poet's Pen
      • Maloney's Mechanism
      • Asenath's Chant
      • Kitava's Thirst
      • Trigger Information was added to the Calcs Tab breakdown with a recommendation for the amount of Increased Cooldown Recovery needed to hit the next threshold and information about any mismatch between trigger rate and attack speed in multi-spell trigger rotations that could result in your attacks hitting before spells were off cooldowns resulting in "wasted" triggers
      • NOTE: For Cospri's and Mjolner - the mechanic that "multiple copies of the same spell share a cooldown" in a single or dual-wielded Cospri's setup has not been implemented. User's need to do their own calculations to ensure cooldowns don't overlap in such advanced situations.
    • Add support for mirage-based skills/items ( Nostrademous )
      • General's Cry (also added support for "General's Cry has +1 to maximum number of Mirage Warriors" helm enchant))
      • The Saviour (if dual wielding, only 1 mirage warrior per "Reflection" skill is used)
      • Mirage Archer (also added support for "+2 to maximum number of Summoned Mirage Archers" Occupying Force Deadeye notable)
      • NOTE: Mirage Archer creates a "new" Skill Group called "Mirage Archer" which provides the DPS and breakdowns associated with the mirage archers when the support gem is enabled (it also generates it on mouse-over of "enable" checkbox which is annoying and known but hard to fix ... sorry).
    • Add support for total DPS roll-up of multiple skills ( Nostrademous )
      • Each Socket Group in the Skills tab now has a new checkbox to the right of "Enabled" that states "Include in Full DPS:" allowing you to opt-in what socket-groups to include in Full DPS roll-up
      • For Vaal Skills logic has been updated to split every Vaal skill into the Vaal and non-Vaal "enable" checkbox below those skills (previously only skills where both of these have global aura or active components would have this)
      • With respect to Damaging Ailments, Full DPS roll-up reviews all included damage options and picks the largest Ignite/Bleed from amongst those while summing together all sources of Impales/DoTs/Poisons/Decays
      • For Skills / Minions that have multiple Stages or Skill Parts, Full DPS uses whatever the currently set Stage or Skill Part is in the left-hand-side Main Skill drop-down -
      • Once at least one Socket Group is included in Full DPS roll-up all DPS compares will include the Gain/Loss using Full DPS roll-up (in addition to whatever Main Skill you have currently selected) -
      • Full DPS impact is included in Gem recommendations, Node Power, Power Report, Node compares, and Item compares
      • NOTE: for each skill added into the Full DPS roll-up there is a "performance" price your PoB will pay. There is no way around this. For example, to give you the data associated with the Power Report when you have 6 active skills in the rollup we have to calculate the impact of each node in the tree on each of the active skills and compare the "before" and "after" values. Individual node compares should still be quick and we spent many hours improving the efficiency of various systems to speed and optimize the calculations, reasoning over 2 skills will still take longer than over 1 skill which is all that was supported until now (your Main Skill selected skill), let alone 6-8 skills. You are warned to have patience.
    • Add integer scaling for active skills via a "count" variable (multiple minions, mines, etc.) ( Nostrademous )
      • This interacts and affects only Full DPS roll-up calculations
      • It allows you to scale (in integer steps) the damage of any non-support skill
      • This was designed to allow you to get a better DPS value for skills that have shot-gun mechanics, support for multiple totems/minions/mines/traps, support for skills that can multi-hit a target (e.g., Ball Lightning), support for skills with multiple projectiles that overlap on a target
      • Setting the Count to 0 for a skill makes the DPS 0 for Full DPS purposes
    • Add least effective allocated node setting to power report ( Wires77 )
    • Add dynamic loading for passive skill tree versions, reducing memory allocation ( Nostrademous )
    • Add mana reservation breakdown ( Wires77 )
    • Add ability to paste with right-click ( Wires77 )
    • Add support for GGG's new API allowing us to populate Cluster Jewel nodes on character import ( Nostrademous )
    • Add full support for Doryani's Prototype's lightning resist mods ( andrewbelu )
    • Add handling for Doedre's Skin's ignore curse limit mod ( andrewbelu )
    • Add support for Blunderbore's shrine effect mods ( andrewbelu )

    GGG Please extensively test the game on low to mid end hardware before 3.14 release (2015 to 2020 hardware with different configurations).

    Please don't reiterate the 3.13 release mistake with a new engine which may have been tested on high-end computers but not on low to mid-end. It will prevent the struggling of many players with a part of them being discouraged to play and just quitting.

    GGG can you pls increase stacksize of Exalted orbs from 10 to 20 so we can trade Mirrors if we want?

    Well right now mirrors are 750+ ex in Ritual SC,you cant buy one or sell one because max you can trade in inventory is 600 ex,basically,now if you want to buy or sell mirror you cant purchase or sell one straight away because playeres are afraid of being scammed,you can either buy mirror shards or cards.Increasing stacksize of exalts from 10 to 15 or 20 would solve this issue,very simple.

    Influenced mods were a mistake: They are the reason why so many unique items feel bad. They copied “unique mods” that usually came with a drawback and gave them to rare items without drawbacks and even allowed them to have multiple of those Unique mods at once.

    Power creepers might think otherwise because it's more and easy power but it's an overall net Negative for the game itemization as a whole

    Before influence you had to make a choice between multiple uniques and which special mod you prefered over others, now you have them all in one or 2 items

    1. Buy horizon orbs
    2. Use them on your excess t14's
    3. Keep all Haewark hamlet maps
    4. Sell em for 7c each on TFT to harvest farmers

    I bought 375 horizons for 3ex, generated 83 hamlet maps, and sold those for 580c. Took barely 15 minutes. If you are strapped for cash and have excess t14 maps that you weren't gonna sell anyway, take advantage of the rush of harvest farmers in the last days of the league.

    Shouldn't the way that The Maven's Beacon behaves be standardized for all maps that are ineligible to be witnessed? Right now the behavior is different for various maps.

    I posted a similar thread earlier half in jest, but figured that presenting it this way might be healthier for discussion. So anyway, just to be clear on what is being referred to here, this is how the map device and the Maven's beacon looks like when...

    1. ...witnessing an unwitnessed map.

    2. ...you don't want to witness the map. --- Can anyone help explain in what situation you would want to do this?

    3. ...the beacon is on, but the map has already been witnessed. --- As we can see, the light is on, but dimmed/disabled. The map will open, but Maven will not witness it because she already has.

    4. ...the beacon is on, but the map cannot be witnessed --- In this case the map device will not open the map at all unless you turn off the beacon. This happens afaik for the Simulacrum, The Pale Court, and Legion encounters. I'm not sure for what other maps this happens, but there are others too most likely.

    On one hand, I get the slight difference of a map that is ineligible for witnessing because it has already been witnessed (#3), vs, a map that is ineligible for witnessing because it does not have a boss encounter to be witnessed (#4). But on the other hand, what I'm asking here is: Does that warrant a different implementation for each case? Can't/Shouldn't scenario #4 be implemented in the same way as scenario #3 wherein if the Maven's beacon is on, then just dim/disable/ignore it?

    The thing here is that for scenario #4, if you forget to turn the beacon back on again --- and we are people who forget and make mistakes --- then you waste succeeding maps that you intended to witness before realizing/remembering that you need to turn the beacon back on again. And this is an easy mistake to make, especially when it's a new gameplay mechanic + when the game is designed in such a way that you do a lot of repetitive actions automatically and out of habit. This is a sore point for me since I wasted a Cortex map this way as I was trying for 36 challenges, though it's all water under the bridge now since I was able to get it eventually, but I think this might be a topic that warrants some discussion.


    P.S. - Just noticed this. Is this a bug that needs to be reported? Very minor, but it is what it is: When you put a witnessed map in the device and initially hover over the dimmed beacon, it will tell you that it has already been witnessed. Then, if you move your mouse pointer away and then bring it back over the beacon, the text changes to say that Maven will witness it.

    Hi, I heard you like resistances? 4x t1 max roll resist ring with t1 life and empty prefix.

    I just crafted this ring, it is just Standard, but i am not the type of player who does crafting regularly and this is my first really good crafted item.

    I found this ilvl86 cogwork ring back in Heist league, sitting in heist case. It had t1 life, t1 all res, t1 cold res, t4 fire and t4 lightning res. So I took it out and ran with it out of the heist back to rogue harbor, then I used prismatic catalysts to improve the resistances. months passed and since Harvest went core I started abusing it to improve the fire and lightning resistances, I got t1 fire on first try, but lightning took 6 tries. so the cost was 35ex. (i actually had one remove/add lightning myself, but I also paid 5ex extra to the guy who made lighting t1 and finished my item)

    Hello everyone, i'm very new to the game (2 weeks) and I already love it. I'm playing a witch and I went to act 8 (not without difficulties (died 3-4 times to every boss)) and I'm really struggling to progress at this point : everything one shot me I can't tank normals mobs nor Boss, I looked at builds and guides but they use items which I can't get.

    I don't know what to do for not being one shotted by every trash mobs my build is bad I don't know what to choose between armor, evasion and ES. If anyone could help me with my build or just tell me tips for tankiness on a witch I would be very grateful.

    Packs spawning for delirium or crusaders would cause my FPS to dip to 0 FPS pretty much every time to the point that I just sat out crusader and delirium content this entire league because I couldn't deal with losing control of my character every 1-2 seconds. I had tried everything else: Potato quality and every combination of graphics settings, forcing nVidia PhysX to GPU, emptying nvidia and poe cache folders, and setting sound effects to false.

    Apparently all I needed to do is set ambient_sound_volume2=false in

    C:\Users<user>\Documents\My Games\Path of Exile\production_Config.ini

    I've seen this suggested before, but this is usually in conjunction with also turning off all of the other game sounds which seems so much more dire of a change than just disabling ambient sound which I doubt I'll miss.

    Some questions to you veterans.

    Hi. I first tried this game on release, but didnt play much at all because my internet sucked ass basically. Some years later i tried it again and got into it more, but still had a hard time to grasp how gearing worked and how to get currency and what's worth selling or not on poe.trade or whatever the name of the site was/is(if its still up or not idk).

    I heard a new League is coming 16 april, and I thought: "fuck it, im bored of every other game right now so lets jump back into it". But this brings me back to the old "problems", i have no clue whatsoever how to start out as best as I can, i think i wanna go with a bow build of some sort, but heard the good ones are expensive as shit(?).

    Is there anyone that can like... Explain to me how i should start my Journey in this game? What's the best way to get currency, what items i should look for to sell etc etc, you probably understand where im going.

    Skyforth can bought for chaos orbs now?

    I have not played this game in several years (last time I played heavily was during Perandus league) and I remember looking for Skyforth on the marketplace and they were easily 40+ exalted orbs for a medium tier pair. I couldn't buy one then. This well before the item had 3d artwork and back when bladefall poison double-dip mines was a viable strat.

    I'm thinking of getting back into this game since my girlfriend also plays, and I see Skyforth is now sold for chaos orbs. Is there any reason for this? Is the item less viable now? Did the drop rate increase? I remember back then someone was so stoked they got these as a random buy from Cadiro perandus that they posted on reddit. They were nearly impossible to find back then.
