20 Users Banned for Exploit Abuse

    Posted: 20 Apr 2021 02:43 AM PDT

Earlier today, we learned of a bug in Ultimatum that allows players to generate excessive rewards. Shortly after its discovery, we deployed a hotfix that capped the amount of experience and items that Ultimatums could yield.

We have banned 20 accounts that abused this exploit multiple times. These bans will last until Ultimatum ends in July. We will also void the characters they made in Ultimatum so that they (and their items) will not be transferred to their parent leagues.

If you uncover an exploit in Path of Exile and abuse it for your benefit, we will ban you.

Because of the way GGG fixed the Empyrian group Exploit, survival ultimatums are now significantly worse for EVERYONE.

    Posted: 20 Apr 2021 01:38 AM PDT

Before the hotfix nerf, you got loot from survival ultimatums based on how many mobs you killed, which meant that survival ultimatums were super fun because you could kill an absolute ton of mobs before the timer ran out while playing COMPLETELY NORMALLY, if this was not intended, then I don't know why it was implemented like this in the first place but it was incredibly fun.

However, after the hotfix nerf intended to target the Empyrian group farming exploit, survival ultimatums seem to be lootcapped based on mobcount, the problem is you hit this very fast from playing normally, I'm playing a pretty good build and noticing at least (and I'm being very generous here, its probably more) a 75%+ reduction in loot, this was my most recent survival ultimatum, where I killed at least 500 mobs (rampage) . This is absolutely not confirmation bias either, you can see from the amount of basic items that have dropped that they are significantly worse compared to before, where id have at least 5+ basic currency drops alone on the normal item drop ring on the outer edge on a pretty decent but not super insane build.

It just really sucks that everyone gets penalised for normal gameplay by a group exploiting, I hope GGG fixes this soon or at least raises the baseline loot in survival ultimatums to a much less awful level, because even now they are much worse than the other three ultimatum types.

EDIT: GGG have confirmed that they are going to fix these today, blast on my brothers

I WAS WRONG!!! - Recanting my previous Rant

    Posted: 20 Apr 2021 06:59 AM PDT

Yesterday I complained that this game was way too hard for beginners and was almost impossible to play. https://old.reddit.com/r/pathofexile/comments/mu47ev/rant_too_complex_for_beginners/

I humbly take back everything I had to say. What I was missing was a a good guide for people who have no clue what to do.

I am trying Kay's Summoner https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2181275 and it is AMAZING!!! I haven't died one time, I am starting to understand the mechanics, I see what gems work with what and why they work the way they do.

The guide goes though each act, tells what gems to pick, where to socket them, goes through each passive skill and gives them priorities. It walks you through story mode. It is perfection.

The guides I had tried before were showcasing endgame gear, endgame skills, complex mechanics, gameplay videos of some maxed out class fighting some godlike endgame enemy I had never even seen, none of which I had any clue about.

If every guide was like this I would have never had the impression I did when I first tried PoE. Great job kayella.

While the hotfix is being pushed out, can the horizon orb bug for removing split tag on maps also be fixed?

    Posted: 20 Apr 2021 08:23 AM PDT

There is currently a bug where you can remove the split tag by using a horizon orb on a map. It is not quite as good as previous map splitting as you get a different map but it allows you to duplicate delirium orbs and other map properties. This should be fixed asap.

    Posted: 20 Apr 2021 09:42 AM PDT

    This is not about difficulty.

I feel like no matter what affix I choose, there is so much going on that I barely see anything anyway. I thought Ritual was hard on the eyes but this is just another level I feel like.

Loot from 100 Cadiro's after his "modernisation"

    Posted: 20 Apr 2021 11:53 AM PDT

Last league I farmed Perandus in Lex Ejoris to get my Headhunter. It took 3 days and on the way, I made a huge amount of money from the valuable offers Cadiro gave me. I decided to try the same strategy after the loot table from Cadiro had been "modernised" as well as him being changed to only offering the best of 3 options rather than 5. I was Alch and Go'ing Tier 3 Forking River and Tier 4 Crystal Ore maps with a Polished Perandus Scarab. TLDR: It's awful, don't do it. Oof size = Large

Below is a spreadsheet showing the loot from 100 Cadiro offers. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/e/2PACX-1vSdDealVDvRLz5JDxwlcqkY73gfXq_kdconnqGBCeJPsSdg1I34JDW8yZ48tQiBTlIGmxDEmSgZ850S/pubhtml

This spreadsheet shows the offers Cadiro made, the cost of the offer in both Perandus Coins and the Chaos Orb equivalent. It then shows the value of the offer in Chaos Orbs and the profit/loss of each offer.

From the results you can see that pretty much all the profit was from the Level 2/3 Enlighten and Empower gems. Other than that, practically nothing of any value was offered.

Previously, the large majority of the offers made were uniques. The spreadsheet shows that the offers Cadiro made were: Currency - 31% Gems - 36% Maps - 25% Uniques - 8%

A decent amount of profit was made from selling the Perandus Coins. On average, I got 959.99 Perandus Coins per map. This may seem high but I had 3 extra chests per map due to the scarab and the 20% chance of the coins being doubled on every chest helped.

This strategy is pretty terrible now. Previously, Cadiro offered a lot of somewhat rare uniques that made it interesting. It was a very profitable strat and a nerf was understandable. Sadly though, this nerf was way too much and the Cadiro atlas ascendencies are pretty worthless now. From what I can see, the "modernisation" of the loot table from Cadiro basically just means that its flooded with gems, low tier currencies and maps which just means the chance of finding anything of interest is now extremely low. 100 Cadiro's isn't the best sample size but its clear from the results that maps, gems and low tier currencies make up the large majority of all Cadiro offers.

It's possible that Cadiro now offers more valuable rewards at higher tier maps but from what I understand, this has never been the case. I'll potentially test this later on but for now, I want to farm something more profitable.

End thoughts: Make Cadiro great again!
