Project PoE Wiki - week 1 update Posted: 14 Aug 2021 05:43 AM PDT Hello again exiles, It's been a long week for us but I wanted to take the time to write a follow up on what we've been up to. After a bit of a rough start with competing projects, we were all able to see the big picture and decided to work together collaboratively. The Discord channel has now grown to over 200 members, with developers, editors and streamers along with general PoE gamers coming to show support. If you think you can help, please join us at: https://discord.gg/evEfBBF7b8 We're currently working on restoring the wiki and the data on our servers. The goal is to have a functional wiki up and running which can be updated collaboratively while we work on fixing the tooling needed to populate most of the wiki data. We're also working together on an open letter for Chris, trying to explain the situation from as many relevant points of view as possible. You can participate in the <#open-letter> channel on discord. For context: https://clips.twitch.tv/PoliteVictoriousGorillaNinjaGrumpy-WAviCLQF-teGAjsd There is a GitHub organization so we can store all repositories under it and make it easier to find and manage. Everything that is being done is open source. We currently run under a GNU license, as can be seen here https://github.com/Project-Path-of-Exile-Wiki The amount of support shown by the community has been overwhelming, and I want to say thank you to everyone. Posted: 14 Aug 2021 12:26 AM PDT As the title says, I feel like this game really needs a strong buff pass to a lot of the underperforming skills and uniques. As much as I love seeing new stuff all the time, this game already has a ridiculous amount of both skills and items, and many of them are in need of some serious love. I feel like this is even more necessary now because of the large nerf patch we just had. Now I know I don't speak for everyone here, but I am personally finding that most of the skills I try this league feel quite weak without heavy investment, and the new unique items feel far from "chase". This lack of power and new interesting items is really draining the fun out of the league for me, and I really think a sweeping buff and/or rework to a lot of the lesser used skills and items in the game would add a big helping of FeelsGoodMan to the next league. I really hope that both the nerfs and the chase item topics continue to come up in future interviews with Chris as I feel that these are some of the biggest issues facing PoE right now. Let me know what you think, stay safe exiles! [link] [comments]

Why does Sirus still off screen Die beam you before you can even enter the arena? Posted: 14 Aug 2021 09:18 AM PDT If you log or die during the last phase the fight is pretty much an rng roll if it is bricked. I don't understand how a fight can be designed so poorly that can't even get a chance to see the boss before he insta kills you from off screen. [link] [comments]
Posted: 14 Aug 2021 10:34 AM PDT a fragile white mob skelly 1 shotting you makes no sense from RPG perspective, no matter how many dmg mods were rolled on the map. Big dmg mobs = slow and telegraphed. low dmg mobs = fast and crazy IAS. Brutus is a good example, as soon as you see him, even for a completely new player, you know this guy will hit you hard. Suggestion: How Borderlands Handles Targeted Farming Posted: 14 Aug 2021 03:56 AM PDT POE has only existed at two extremes. Either a unique was locked to a specific boss/league or it was in the global drop pool. Both situations appeal to different players, players who want to go searching for that one unique they need in SSF and players who want that chance at dropping a HH at any time. I think Borderlands handles both situations more elegantly than the extremes by having all legendaries be part of the core drop pool, but giving specific bosses an increased chance of dropping certain legendaies. I think this solves the divide between making the core drop pool interesting and target farming and might be a good change for the game as a whole. Thoughts? EDIT: I'm thinking specifically BL2 [link] [comments]
Posted: 14 Aug 2021 11:28 AM PDT This is the very first league I've been able to progress extremely far, comparing to my previous achievements. I managed to get through lacking of damage and mana, and farmed a build that is worth around 70ex, there are rather few things left to upgrade in it. But while items I have are rather good, they are not perfect. As an example, I currently have this armor. It ramps up my build's damage by a lot. But it is not perfect, it has a prefix of "increased armor, evasion and energy shield", which I would rather swap for + hp. Also, hunter's and warlord's prefixes are not elevated. And honestly, if there was a way to upgrade each of this mods, be it 10, 20, 50ex per each, but at least more safely than annuls - I would stay and continue grinding for that. But unfortunately, all I can do is GAMBLE, trying to create this item from scratch again with elevated modifiers and hp, as there are a lot of points, where this thing can get ruined. Knowing that, I will probably leave the idea of upgrading this item, which would have probably kept me in the game for another month, upgrade everything else within a 1-1.5 weeks and will be done with this league. Rule 10 for a garb:

I wish there is a flask enchantment -> Cannot be Used if already in effect. Posted: 14 Aug 2021 04:49 AM PDT I never really have a problem with flask "piano" since I enjoy being proactive/reactive with my flask strategy/usage. Most of my flasks are also with Experimenter's prefix so they usually last 6+ seconds so even with all the new enchants, I actually still prefer "the old" playstyle without Triggers and without "lock" from Enkindling orbs. With the nerf to flask charge generation, thou, there is one thing I wish that would greatly benefit players who want to remain "old school" in regards to their flask usage - a simple enchantment which would prevent same flask to be used (again) if it is already being in effect! Previously, it wasn't a problem if you were a little bit sloppy with your flask pressing since Charges were plentiful, but now, every flask charge matters and it is usually pretty big gameplay mistake if you accidently press your flask two times in a row in longer battle. Please, GGG. Just this one little simple thing! :) [link] [comments]

Getting Back The PoE We Love And How Our Community Will Do It Posted: 14 Aug 2021 01:49 AM PDT
| ||
Posted: 13 Aug 2021 10:14 PM PDT Let me start off by saying I don't support the level of harassment the team receives. We can have a civil discussion. Ultimately, we want a great game, and they want to make a great game. Many think this league was a miss, but I'm sure they were trying to design it to be a hit. Now about loot pickup-- I am legally blind. Some of you may remember seeing one of my posts here a while back with back that I made here showing how awesome this community is, and how helpful they are towards me in trade and global chats. And you guys on Reddit too, you're so nice to me and that's awesome. Thank you for that. (: So with being legally blind comes a couple of challenges when playing PoE. It doesn't involve killing enemies or checking health or mana pools, but rather it involves the accuracy required with many types of clicks in the game. In particular, looting is the worst offender. Try this experiment out to see how I play-- stare at your minimap, and only your minimap. When you hear a drop, follow the little arrow on your minimap and look for the crosshair from your loot filter that is showing where the item is. Walk over to it, and scan around your screen to see it. Now, try that same experiment, but while looking through foggy straws. (Metaphorically.) and that is basically how I have to play PoE. It not only takes me a long time to read the tags on the items on the floor, but the simple act of finding the loot banners on the floors and the beams can be a very strong challenge for me. What would make my life easier? Well, it doesn't even need to be a huge change to loot pickups. Just simply adding a "Pickup nearest item" button that I can push once I see my player crosshair crossing over some loot on my minimap would save me probably half an hour a day of just picking up loot, and this is a sentiment echoed by many community members that I have seen. Adding a loot pickup key, increasing pickup range, auto-pickup of currency items, these features don't just benefit players and prevent them from performing monotonous tasks several thousand times throughout the course of a league, but it also would help folks like me who are challenged in-game unfairly to get an edge up, and bring us a little closer to those who are abled while playing. I love PoE, and while my disability might prevent me from getting to endgame content, I still love playing through the story, making awesome builds that I love, playing through the campaign with my girlfriend, it's great. But for me, and all other disabled people out there, GGG, please reconsider your stance on loot pickups. We would all appreciate it very much <3 While I'm at it suggesting things that would greatly help the disabled crowd, and benefit normal users as a result: A button bind option for "Interact with nearest NPC/Object." useful for the same reason the loot pickup button would be. The ability to increase the size of exclamation marks over NPCs heads, or choose a different style of notification. Something like a pulsating glow? The arrow that appears on the minimap when you find an area or you're close to one dissappears when you use the tab map. Perhaps make this arrow appear around your player model while using the tab map? The fact that the arrows dissapear when using tab map is the only reason I can't use it, so I would personally love this. This may have varying difficulties of implementing, but hear me out-- I can't see colors of gems. So a nice feature that would be immensely useful for me, would be if you hover over a gem, the art would have a slight fade, and a bold, high contrast letter indicating the color would appear over the gem. "R, G, B, W." etc. This could also be echoed on gera when hovering over gear with a "High Contrast Gems" feature ticked. Bold/High Contrast Font Options - THis would be great. I like the aesthetic the game has, but I will be the first to admit that the darker fonts can be a little hard to read for me sometimes, and I can imagine other blind people have issues with this as well. Perhaps have a whole tab in the options for adjusting the font in-game. Size, Style, Colors, Boldness, etc. Item Tooltip Scailing, or, Windows Narrator support - THis one would be a dream come true. Currently, I have to Alt+Enter to make PoE windowed, and use magnifier to zoom into the item to read the values. If I were able to increase the scailing of the tooltip popup, I would actually be able to quickly read gear stats with ease. Please, if you pick any from this list to implement, this one would be fantastic. I have many, many more ideas, and would love to talk to someone on the GGG team about them. These were just a couple thoughts I had circulating in my head while watching Baeclast's latest episode. Thank you everyone for reading, have a wonderful day/night. (: [link] [comments]
I loved the Baeclast interview because I love discussing POE. Posted: 14 Aug 2021 11:02 AM PDT Watching Chris talk on Baeclast was really fun because every time he read of internal development notes it felt like really juicy gossip at a sleepover! It was super well done and though not every question may have been answered, they really made the most of the time they had, and with so many dirty dev diary secrets along the way... Hot-take; hearing dev opinions league to league about how players interacted with the League itself, mechanical changes and buffs/nerfs would do so much to reinvigorate many people's perspective when it comes to league cycles. Hearing about the two possible upcoming interviews being hosted by Ziz and Grimro, respectively, has me really excited and even though it would probably be 3 a.m. for me at the time of them being live, I am definitely gonna stay up to watch both interviews. The takeaway is, I'm loving the new direction GGG has taken in talking to the community in such an open and honest way and I desperately hope we see not only discussion about what is planned in an upcoming league, but also about the direction of that league post-launch. Posted: 13 Aug 2021 02:38 PM PDT From what I see in D2R streams and endgame Youtube vids, it's obvious the two games aren't very alike. They are both ARPGs and share similar UI designs, but that's pretty much it. D2 has a much more slower, methodical combat, and the core game design reflects it:
Now look at POE:
So what's the point here? Maybe POE was more like D2 back in 2012, but nine years of development have completely changed that. If GGG wants to slow down the game while taking inspiration from D2, they need to massively rework almost every system in the game. It will take a lot more than some nerfs to player damage and movement skills. Why not just embrace that POE is the fastest ARPG ever made? It's a great thing. [link] [comments]
Playing a strike build this league, just sucks Posted: 14 Aug 2021 01:02 PM PDT I started this league with a Chieftain slammer (Earthshatter full fire conversion), and after giving up on dying even though I had pretty good damage reduction and 7 Endurance Charges. I'm not blaming the game and although the nerfs hit pretty hard on defenses, I've never played Chieftain before, so I call it my fault. I decided to restart and build a Champion. Everything went just fine, the nerfs hurt the build quite hard because the clear speed was pretty bad and I had to rely on Splitting Steel. That sufficed the clear speed quite well, one or two slam, warcry, Call of Steel, and everything explodes. The problem escalated quickly in red maps where the single target was awful and Conquerors took more time than I expected. A5 at last, Sirus took an eternity and I died 3 times before I took him down. A fight where usually everything goes pretty smooth, it takes some time because the build is still in a suboptimal state but I rarely die to it. I thought "well, this is not good..." If I wanted to at least go up to A8, I needed to make a change. I decided to try Perforate once again, a skill I love and nobody plays it. Last league, I did a Perforate Champion with Terminus Est and just a bunch of 20/20 gems, and the results were not disappointing, I felt pretty confident about doing it again. Opened PoB, started building the tree, time to set up the skills... The build lost like 4.5 ~ 5 million damage, going from 7.5 ~ 8 down to 3.5 ~ 3 million damage with all the buffs and the same setup as the last league, so you can imagine the lack of DPS in combat without flasks/charges/conditionals. That did hurt a lot and you can feel it if you are trying to build your "budget" character, but I tried it nonetheless. Take note that some bosses are DPS checks like Maven, and 3 million (remember, WITH BUFFS) DPS in a strike build it could be not enough until everything goes to shit. The results were terrible. The damage is low, clear speed feels slow and clunky, boss damage is there but is not enough. I tried against the Factory boss to test it (the boss is known to be pretty scary if the fight lasts long enough) and I lost 4 portals before I finally took him down. A Harvest crop? Impossible, I died too many times against that fucking Devourer that leaves those pods in the field every time it goes underground. So on, so forth. I was really disappointed. It was infuriating, to say the least. It felt BORING. I'm used to play slam builds, hitting hard, warcries, and that stuff. But I just get bored if I play that archetype for too long. This doesn't happen to me with strike skills though. I switched to Vaal Double Strike, again same results. Then I decided to change to Bladestorm (not a strike skill, but I'm used to it), same results. I was like "man, slams are boring AF, I need something faster, I need to strike harder", two of my favorite skills are just trash and pale in comparison against their versions that I did just a league ago. Another thing to note, Champion is in an awful state. Its current state is just embarrassing, aside from Fortitud then the ascendancy has nothing else to offer. It's slow, the damage is wacky and there's nothing else interesting in it. An ascendancy that I'm used to playing and I manage to make it work every league now feels hopeless. I wasn't expecting the same power from the last league, but I wasn't expecting either to be hit this hard. [link] [comments]
