IMMORTAL - a new immortality build and a warning to all players

There is a new immortal build. I'm posting this here because a certain group of players on TFT discord is going around the build trading sections offering this build in exchange for multiple mirrors, expensive items or other really expensive builds.

Upon asking for their pobs they get defensive, claiming their build is secret. They even refuse to show their items. They only offer video evidence of the performance of their build

Beware, someone sent me the pob of one of the builds he purchased of those guys and most of the items are worth alot less than they ask for (simple multimod crafts)

    Small showcase: https://streamable.com/qr7xhd

    Update: I made a mistake

TL:DR you need replica farruls instead of farruls. farruls itself only gives power and frenzy charges, replica farruls grants additional endurance charges. Socket less duration gem + awakened swift affliction into the item that grants aspect of the cat to lower the cats agility buff duration below 4 seconds so you can spam it and have permanent endurance charge uptime.

How it works: Using the new flask currency you can get 50% increased flask effect on the legacy soul catcher flask

    Legacy 25% Soul Catcher

They use two of those flasks for permanent uptime on pathfinder along with all flask effect nodes on the passive tree and a micro distillery belt with 18% flask effect veiled mod, aswell as the spiked concotion notable from flask duration medium clusters this gives you 0 soul cost of vaal skills aswell as 0 soulgain prevention duration, giving you the ability to spam vaal skills infinitely

you also need 2 weapons crafted with bloodstained fossil, either two one handed weapons or one two handed weapon for the soul cost reduction

    https://preview.redd.it/d5omgl3iygh71.png?width=431&format=png&auto=webp&s=9e13dbe9aece4002b7f1997e932ba2f338e0b9f0

    Vaal immortal call

This skill makes you unable to die, you cannot go below 1 hp.

It is legacy and cannot be obtained other than through trading in permanent leagues.

There are many out there tho.

    https://preview.redd.it/fz8sy57amfh71.png?width=833&format=png&auto=webp&s=7d31b08fa8a78ca9b7de847770d547140d031487

It increases duration based on how many endurance charges you sacrifice.

In order to have 100% uptime you need to generate at least 5 endurance charges in 3 seconds.

(Get at least +2 maximum endurance charges)

There are two ways to achieve that without killing any monsters:

    1. Replica Farrul's Fur to gain additional endurance charges instead of just frenzy and power charges

Gain endurance charges when you gain cats agility

Aspect of the cat grants two alternating buffs: Cats stealth and Cats agility and to cycle them before vaal immortal calls duration expires you need to to lower the duration of both. That can be done by socketing less duration and awakened swift affliction into the item that grants aspect of the cat.

    Without the support gems:

    With the support gems:

    https://preview.redd.it/u6lm1aw4hhh71.png?width=709&format=png&auto=webp&s=51359f9c43668c663fe43d316d34495ceee7ef33

    2.

Enduring Composture, which is found on small cluster jewels that grant armour

    3.

Elegant Hubris timeless jewel can convert random notables in radius to a similar notable

    1. You can get the same mods as timeless or small cluster on warlord influence on body armor

To trigger the notable you just need a way to hit yourself and the easiest way is to use scolds brittle

You can use a skill like phase run to trigger the hit

Just put phase run on your walk key and you'll reliably hit yourself every few seconds, permanently generating endurance charges. If you use 2 small clusters you will get 6 endurance charges in 3 seconds.

If you use replica or normal farrul's fur, you can alternate cats stealth to generate endurance charges.

Using enhance + empower + increased duration linked to vaal immortal call, you have 100% Vaal immortal call uptime and you cannot die.

The rest of the builds is any vaal skill since you can spam them infinitely. Since they don't need any other defenses they can get insane damage, multiple hundred million or even more than a billion.

The items those people have in their builds for trade are not worth much at all, most are multimodded or crude crafts, outside of this EXPLOIT they are worth barely what they ask for.

So if someone messages you for a build trade in standard, offering only videos, no pob and does not show his items, be very careful. This will get removed from the game soon, at least i hope so. It is truly game breaking, even for standard measures.

I'm sorry for not mentioning this is standard earlier as most would have just stopped reading (standard omegalul kinda thing)

Lesson #19: Your audience is good at recognizing problems and bad at solving them - What the design of Magic The Gathering can teach this community and GGG

    Posted: 15 Aug 2021 12:27 AM PDT

Lesson #5: Don't confuse "interesting" with "fun"

This explains the relative "failure" of some leagues, Synthesis or (the initial) Bestiary being the prime example. While both seemed very interesting on paper, they were too tedious. Throwing nets or building the Synthesis paths was interesting, but that's were it ended.

Lesson #11: If everyone likes your game but no one loves it, it will fail

I hope both GGG and Reddit realize that if the game starts to cater to the lowest common denominator, it will quickly lose it's "soul." A very good product is always slightly controversial, or not for everybody. If PoE was an ice cream flavor, it certainly wouldn't be vanilla or chocolate and it shouldn't try to be. You shouldn't want it to be.

Lesson #13: Make the fun part also the correct strategy to win

The best way to play the game should be the most fun way to play. This is why I believe build diversity is not the end all be all, what is more important is that the best builds are the most fun builds. But even more so, the best end game strategies should be the most fun ones.

Lesson #19: Your audience is good at recognizing problems and bad at solving them

This is the one that I think is most important right now, because it tells both the community and GGG. GGG should listen to the community and take their concerns seriously, but they should absolutely not take their ideas on how to fix things seriously.

These lessons are all taken from the excellent article https://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/making-magic/twenty-years-twenty-lessons-part-1-2016-05-30 by Mark Rosewater, lead designer of Magic the Gathering.

Zooming out a little more would help a lot with defenses.

    Posted: 15 Aug 2021 09:41 AM PDT

I just notice while leveling that there are places that are more zoomed out and how much nicer it would be if we had a little more field of view, I know ultra wide helps but not enough... It would help a lot to dodge incoming bs if you're playing more squeshy builds.

GGG when looking at what to nerf/buff

    Posted: 14 Aug 2021 10:41 PM PDT

Given current prices, it might not be a bad idea to double corrupt your Empowers/Enlightens

    Posted: 15 Aug 2021 09:43 AM PDT

As someone who is looking for both an Empower and Enlighten lvl 4 this league, I was wondering whether it would make sense to use a Lapidary Lens from Doryani's Institute (Alva's temple) instead of a Vaal Orb based on cost efficiency to hit lvl 4. Seems silly at first glance because quality doesn't matter at all, but there may be some hidden potential for value here...

TL;DR: You save upwards of 2.6ex on expected ilvl 4 costs by using double corrupts over vaal orbs, and you're also expected to save some currency over buying ilvl 4s from the market. This is dependent on a few probability assumptions that have floated around the community for quite a while.

Prices are based on poe.ninja data/live searches.

    Empower prices:

    1. 1.8ex for uncorrupted lvl 3
    2. ~0.5ex for both corrupted lvl 2 and lvl 3
    3. 8.6ex for lvl 4 (may be higher, lowest was 10.6ex when doing an actual search)

    Enlighten prices:

    1. 3.2ex for uncorrupted lvl 3
    2. 1.9ex for corrupted lvl 3
    3. 1.4ex for corrupted lvl 2
    4. 8.4ex for lvl 4 (may be higher, lowest was 11ex when doing an actual search)

Cost of Chronicle of Atzoatl with Open Doryani's Institute: ~50c or ~0.4ex

GET READY FOR MATH! This is where I make a few "generally accepted" assumptions on probabilities of vaals - if anyone has a well-documented source of vaal probabilities to flip this entire thing on its head, let me know!

    Method 1: Vaal Orb

    • Chance of lvl 4: 1/8 (generally accepted in community from what I've seen)
    • Possible outcomes:

-Level, No Level, No Level, +Level, -Qual, No Qual, No Qual, +Qual

    • Empower
      • Expected return on gem given you failed (selling back to market) = 0.5ex
      • Empower expected cost for lvl 4 = (1.8ex - 0.5ex) / 0.125 = 10.4ex
    • Enlighten
      • Expected return on gem given you failed (selling back to market) = (1.9ex * 6/7 + 1.4ex * 1/7) = ~1.83ex
      • Empower expected cost for lvl 4 = (3.2ex - 1.83ex) / 0.125 = 10.96ex

    Method 2: Double Corrupt

Prob(+Level on 1st corrupt & No -Level on 2nd corrupt)

    + Prob(No -Level on 1st corrupt & +Level on 2nd corrupt)

    • Given that you cannot increase/decrease gem level or qual twice in the same direction (i.e. there's no ilvl 22 or 18 double corrupts), it depends on whether the probability of hitting the second +/- level/qual is outright removed (7 other outcomes) or just doesn't affect results (8 total outcomes). Sticking with the more conservative 1/8 since the other way has many more annoying permutations
    • Expected chance of lvl 4 =

    (1/8)(7/8) + (7/8)(1/8) = 0.21875

    • Empower
      • Expected return on gem given you failed (selling back to market) = 0.5ex
      • Empower expected cost for lvl 4 (adding in cost of temple) = (1.8ex + 0.4ex - 0.5ex) / 0.21875 = 7.8ex
    • Enlighten
      • Expected return on gem given you failed (selling back to market) = (1.9ex * 6/7 + 1.4ex * 1/7) = ~1.83ex
      • Empower expected cost for lvl 4 (adding in cost of temple) = (3.2ex + 0.4ex - 1.83ex) / 0.21875 = 8.1ex
    • Expected probabilities may be very slightly lower if the probability for +/- 2 levels/quality is removed during the second corrupt. Expect the chance to at least be greater than 0.2143, which can equate to an extra 0.1 - 0.2ex in costs

    End Result:

    • Empower
      • 10.4ex - 7.8ex = 2.6ex savings over vaal orb
      • 8.6ex - 7.8ex = 0.8ex savings over lvl 4 poe.ninja prices (probably even higher given lack of inventory)
    • Enlighten
      • 10.96ex - 8.1ex = 2.86ex savings over vaal orb
      • 8.4ex - 8.1ex = 0.3ex savings over lvl 4 poe.ninja prices (probably even higher given lack of inventory)

Hopefully this doesn't pump up the prices of the economy - let's try to combat the shortage of these gems using statistics! Good luck on your gambles!

    Server providers for South-Africa

    Posted: 15 Aug 2021 09:21 AM PDT

We really need servers in SA we all have 150+ping and playing hardcore is impossible.

We have theses server providers that can host in SA:

    1. Amazon AWS in CapeTown
    2. Microsoft Azure is now available from new enterprise-grade datacentre regions in Africa based in Cape Town and Johannesburg.
    3. IBM Hosting server. ( might be wrong on this one)
    4. Coolideas.co.za (I recommend talking to these guys. They are the one of the biggest fibre providers in South-Africa. The owners themselves are also gamers and they communicate with us via a forum. They solve all the issues for their gamers and they are open to hosting the servers for you guys if somebody can be in contact with them.) connect@coolideas.co.za or on the forum : https://tinyurl.com/cnveb9su

    Edited

I really hope you can find a server provider for us we really been looking forward having servers in South-Africa for a while now.

I know Chris said last time they check they could not find a decent provide. I really hope this time around it changed

the real reason to buy a steamdeck

    Posted: 15 Aug 2021 01:43 PM PDT

I can somewhat understand why Chris doesn't want auto-pickup and its variants, but please at least give us a "stash-all" button

    Posted: 15 Aug 2021 08:14 AM PDT

It's somewhat understandable that Chris wants things to have value, value is determined how much people are willing to "bend down for it", arguments can be made if it's not worth it to you or it takes too much space just don't pick up etc etc. I'm not here to argue that.

But for the love of god, I have an inventory full of splinters and currencies and everything, I'm standing in front of my stash with them, what else would I want to do than stashing them all.

At this point I'm thinking about writing an AHK macro just to stash everything for me, personally I find it more annoying than all other issues people bring up.

Why do you personally like PoE?

    Posted: 15 Aug 2021 08:18 AM PDT

I've noticed a not uncommon opinion that people like PoE because it's not slow like it's competitors (Grim Dawn and Last Epoch). So I thought I'd say why I like PoE and leave an open ended question why you personally like PoE.

The main reasons I like PoE are: - The passive tree. It's huge and all the classes share the same tree, giving rise to huge variation and nuance. 5 identical builds could end up pathing in different ways due to considerations such as starting class, whether they want to path by more life, whether they need more attributes, whether they're planning on slotting in cluster jewels thus skirt the edge to avoid having to respec later. There's so many permutations with varying nuance to each, based on how you personally want to build the character and what gear/currency you currently have available. The other (good) ARPGs don't have this. - The gem system. So, like, you have this fireball gem right? It, like, throws out a fireball like you're some sort of badass mage. Then you can slap a fork support and now it'll fork when it hits an enemy. Then you can slap on a trap support and now you'll no longer cast it yourself, you'll throw out a trap that fires off a fireball that then forks on hit. I'm yet to come across another game, let alone an ARPG, with a modular skill system with this much freedom and success. - ARPG loot system. Every ARPG has it, Diablo pioneered it. Magics and rares with varying random affixes and a couple static named uniques for consistency. It's a standard for a reason. - Flask system. Imagine a world where you don't have to keep buying and picking up consumable potions. Now imagine these potions do more than just heal you. Truly, we live in a society. - EDIT: Completely forgot about the currency system... No gold, imagine that. An organic bartering system that arises based on the usefulness and rarity of crafting currency. That's cool no matter how you look at it, not to mention unique.

Those are the main reasons I like PoE. So far we only know that gems are going to change and that's scary, but the others probably won't change (touch wood battle royale doesn't become main mode...).

    Why do you like PoE?
