My 8 y/o daughter fell in love with PoE - My observations

    Posted: 27 Jan 2019 09:26 AM PST

For a while now my 8 year old daughter would pull a chair next to my desk and watch me play. She'd create her own names for monsters and give them little back stories. A few weeks ago, she asked if she could play, so I let her create her own character and gave her a stash tab to use however she saw fit.

    Here are my observations:

    • The only thing that matters about the character you choose is what they look like.
    • Related: Scion has pretty hair that shouldn't be obstructed with an ugly helmet.
    • Everything you pick up off the ground deserves gems. Bejewel the hell out of everything!
    • Buying and selling gems and jewelry from Nessa is a game in and of itself.
    • Related: if you sell enough stuff, you get a bunch of wisdom scrolls.
    • Managing inventory and stash is a game in and of itself.
    • Related: You CAN have too many wisdom scrolls.
    • Zombie butts are hilarious.
    • If you socket lightning tendrils in your boots, the lighting SHOULD shoot from your toes.
    • Guff has memorable lines worth impersonating.

    She beat Merveil this morning.

It's been a lot of fun watching her play. I have offered her very little guidance outside of helping her choose a couple of skills based on what she thought was cool, and then showing her where she can go on the passive tree to get more zombies, health, and damage for her skills.

When she started Act 2 this morning, one of the first things she asked me is if she was able to go back and visit Nessa sometimes.

    3h 50m 50s Level 100

    Posted: 26 Jan 2019 04:49 PM PST

We started thinking about breaking the past level 100 record set by Contrax in Legacy league (~14 hours) as soon as the power of upgraded breachstones were discovered at the start of Betrayal league. After about a month of preparation, and trying to find a time where the full group could push together, the record was broken by much more than we ever expected, with a time of 3 hours 50 minutes 50 seconds.

Pajama was boosted through the story with an 11 minute Act 5 Kitava kill, 22 minute Act 10 Kitava kill, and another 5 minutes to get to mapping level, putting the time to maps at 27 minutes. From there, Pure Chayula breachstones were run with lightning fast clear speed, finishing the full level 100.

Here's the clip of the final few seconds: the_record_for_now

    The team:

    • PAJAMA_MONSTER - All Powerful Witch

    • Tzn - Mana Guardian Support

    • Xloctis - Scion Aura Support

    • SirCrowley90 - Deadeye Tornado Shot Carry

    • Ryphe - As Himself

    • Manni - GC Miner Saboteur Boss Killer

    • itsMartini - Moral Support

As many people probably know by now, the upgraded breachstones are far too easy to access and far too powerful.

Edit: Since there are many comments/confusions showing up about real-time vs. in-game /played time I'll elaborate here. Pajama types /played at the end of the clip showing /played time. So yes, this is a /played record, as was the 14 hour Contrax previous record. Real-time would be a different category, but is usually only addressed at league/race start when everyone is playing at the same time and in a fresh economy.

New method for hiding ridiculous prices?

    Posted: 27 Jan 2019 10:10 AM PST

    https://imgur.com/a/9SPb08k

People now list items cheap, then autoreply with 'actual prices' which are way over the top.

Encountered that multiple times today, in league as well as in standard. Just a coincidence or do really that many people think everybody is stupid enough to buy for those prices?

Sure, it was always done, but usually only by very few people. Looks to me like it's spreading.

    Just Wanted To Say Thanks!

    Posted: 27 Jan 2019 09:09 AM PST

    Hello All,

I have just came from my first 8 hour session of POE, which I streamed live on Twitch. I was apprehensive to do this because I know how nasty some people could be on the Diablo streams, so I have always worried about streaming games like this.

But there was absolutely no need to worry. The community seemed to welcome me with open arms. People raided and hosted me... But the best bit of support was one person who came into the stream early on. He created a new character answered EVERY question I had about my class (Shadow). He helped me with gear, and also traded a few things. For the full 7 hours people helped me in chat, whether it be trading items or just the odd comment to help me with one of the many decisions I had to make today.

This might not seem like a big deal to you all, but to me I have personally been afraid of this game. It doesn't seem to help new players, and after a week filled with reading and watching beginners guides, I finally decided to jump in today. And it was the best decision I have made in a long time.

So to all of you that make this community great. Keep doing what you are doing. Because from the outside looking in, this game is scary!

    Thanks,

    Jack (GeekC0llective)

    Loot from 138 Tower maps

    Posted: 27 Jan 2019 07:53 AM PST

So on Thursday my group decided we would run 200 Tower maps and see what we got. We stopped short because it got boring, but I figured I might as well share what we got from 138 of these maps.

We were running each map with Carto, Div, and Breach/Harbi (Breach was far superior for drops, but we couldn't find enough). We were using the Breach Zana mod on every map. We were also targeting the 500% Quant strongbox sextant and trying to proc Monstrous Treasure on every map. We had 3 leechers at all times to boost the quant. Our overall investment for these maps was 23000 chaos (it was actually 21400 but I'm rounding up because we never bought any alchs/scour/vaal.) Mind you this was for 200 maps, not for 138. So we only ran 70% of the maps we invested into.

    Raw drops (+1743 chaos) : https://imgur.com/a/92ZwiHo

The picture is what we got in raw currency drops from the runs, plus 1743 chaos from selling some of the hydras because my quad tab was full of maps. I didn't keep track of how many maps we got, but at the 90 map mark I had a full quad stash tab full of t11-16 maps. We had 112 hydras and over 100 towers in that. After I sold a majority of the maps I decided to remove t11-14 from my filter because we were getting too many and no one wanted to sell bulk. Disregard the breach splinters, they are included in the breach picture below.

How many Nurses we got from the runs : https://i.imgur.com/5MdZMuw.png

We had multiple sets (3 maps) that dropped 12+ nurses. They drop consistently, especially with Monstrous.

We also had ~2400 wretched cards after these runs. Each of the supports had over 1200 at the end. We ended up getting 2 more Headhunters from them as well. https://youtu.be/lhNJlzDxWLc?t=46 Shows one of them. If you watch the full video you can hear us talking about the other HH pull.

Full Breachstones we got from the runs : https://imgur.com/a/Q3z4J9s

In total I don't have a set number of chaos that we profited, but I know we at least double our money invested. We ended up having ~350ex. Sorry this post was mediocre compared to others. I originally wanted to do a really clean reddit post, but didn't care enough to put in the work lol.

Cool things that happened during the runs (none of the money from these is included in any of the information above).

Had 1 House of Mirrors drop from a diviners. Had 2 Skyforth drops. We also 6 linked and vaaled a shavs that dropped and hit +2 duration gems.

If you have any questions please ask. We've run over 500 Towers this league so although I'm not the most knowledgeable on the map, I'm sure I could help.

We're going to be running Elder Arsenals next so if you care to tune in my stream is the same as my reddit.
