Summon Skeleton CWDT Auto-Loop Sire of Shards Running Simulator build (theory only)

    Posted: 16 Mar 2019 06:19 PM PDT

    Firstly, PoB: https://pastebin.com/cgCFKqnj

I have tried to keep the gear reasonable, with a few moderately good base rolls with room to craft resistances. 90% of the total cost of the build should be the cost of 6L Sire of Shards and 6L body armour, however (and I do mean this) using 5Ls instead is not a large downgrade and does not compromise our dps significantly since the main damaging spell does not reside in either 6L. I am using a Mark of Submission ring to provide a cheap viable alternative to a good Warlord's Mark on hit Elder ring.

    Concept Flowchart:

    1. Use one Heartbound Loop unique ring to take damage whenever we cause our skeletons to die.

    2. We stack six To Dust unique jewels, which combined with Less Duration and Swift Affliction supports cause our skeletons to last 0.2 seconds before expiring. You need to reach 98% reduced duration by fiddling with the values on the jewels and the quality of Less Duration, which is then halved by LD to leave 1% of the 20s base duration.

    3. With the Necromancer ascendancy, we summon 3 skeletons per cast, and Heartbound Loop causes us to take 350 physical damage per minion death, so this means that we take 1050 damage 0.2 seconds after we use summon skeletons. We do not use any armour or endurance charges in our build, meaning we take exactly 1050 damage with no mitigations.

    4. This damage triggers level 7 Cast When Damage Taken support gems in our staff, chest, helmet and boots, which cause; another wave of skeletons to spawn; a volley of Unearth and Magma Orb/Fireball; a cascade of Volatile Dead; and auxiliary skills such as Desecrate and Spirit Offering. Each spell has a 0.19 second cooldown due to 35% cooldown recovery speed on our boots and belt, which is low enough for the spells to be ready before our skeletons die at the 0.2 second mark.

    5. Spirit Offering consumes up to 9 corpses (and we create 9 per trigger due to CWDT Unearth with GMP and +4 proj from Sire of Shards, as well as an extra 15 corpses per 2.2 seconds due to Desecrate), and thanks to Necromancer we get 50% of the offering buff which causes us to gain 1% of our maximum Life as maximum Energy Shield per corpse consumed.

    6. Since Volatile Dead consumes 3 corpses per trigger, and pessimistically we will assume that we have no corpses from Desecrate or dead enemies on the floor, we get to consume 6 corpses per Spirit Offering for a 6% Life as ES heal. This (I believe) is boosted by modifers such as increased maximum energy shield, and we can expect to see around 200% increased ES on our character. 6% * 300% = 18% of Life 'healed' per trigger. With 5000+ Life, we gain at least 900 energy shield per trigger, which mitigates most of the self-inflicted 1050 damage from Heartbound Loop. Warlords Mark, regen, and energy shield leech all work to sustain us in and out of combat. Initially I tried building around two Heartbound Loops, but found the self-damage a bit overwhelming on paper.

    7. If we would rather not walk from place to place, we have a huge amount of cast and attack speed due to consuming dozens of corpses per second and being a Necromancer, meaning that Lightning Warp/Leap Slam would feel really good as movement skills.

All in all, we have a functionally automatic self-looping build which casts Unearth and Magma Orb(/Fireball/etc) in a nova and Volatile Dead 5 times a second. Assuming an enemy is hit only by the Volatile Dead, and then only by the ball and not the corpse explosion, we get a DPS estimation of 250k. This can easily be pushed much higher with any damage on your gear, particularly a helm enchant, more aggressive flasks, or less pessimistic calculations.

I normally don't post any of the builds I make, but I wanted to see if someone could find a hole in the logic so that I wouldn't potentially waste time levelling a character - particularly concerning whether or not modifers to energy shield affect the ES recovery from Spirit Offering. Thanks for reading.

    Really strong boss killer

    Posted: 17 Mar 2019 12:45 AM PDT

So I'm looking for something (Synthesis SC) that is really good at deleting bosses. I have a dedicated group but they're all playing clear skills so I thought it'd be fun to build something that is extremely good for bossing. If it can clear maps too that'd be sweet but if it can't that's not a concern for me due to my group, any suggestions?

Small edit: not wanting to do mines/traps/totems though

    Hell there!!

With Es being a thing this league and selfcasting being buffed, I was wondering if this build could be a thing, or if its just gimmicky and Occultist is simply better.

Which gem setup would you use. Zealotry, discipline, HoI?

Double curse Warlords Mark and frostbite on hit?

Any tips and insights will help me since I'm not an expert at all.

    Thank you all!!

If you had ~50 ex and wanted to make a nearly invulnerable mapper and boss killer.. what would it be?

    Posted: 17 Mar 2019 01:47 AM PDT

Because I am lucky enough to inherit that.

However i'm a relative newbie. Mostly I want to go fast and never die. I hate dying. What kind of monstrous powerful expensive builds can do that?

    Hyrri’s Ire Scourge Arrow

    Posted: 16 Mar 2019 01:24 PM PDT

Hi All, I don't play much cuz of work but like to make builds. Got this to yellow maps and is very strong, based on numbers in PoB with very reasonable gear I'm sure it can do endgame very well. Feel free to try and let me know how it works!

Pros: Fast clear speed - scourge arrow clears two screens away on open maps

Backup option for doors - rain of arrows is excellent at clearing doorways

Freeze the world! Freeze and shatter entire screens for a safe play style

Freeze bosses - always super fun

Huge dps - Single target is 3.8M scourge arrow plus Vaal rain of arrows usually kills bosses, betrayal mobs, red beasts by itself while slowing them to a crawlwith support mirage archer rain of arrows

    Permanent frenzy and power charges

    Great, Layered defenses: 9-10k es

50k+ evasion with +5% chance to evade

Ghost shrouds for 9% damage mitigation for what gets through - healing for 2500 Es

    Cannot be stunned

30% spell dodge, 10% attack dodge

Smoke/blind for attacks (including ranged with pandemonius)

Cons: My poison prolif scourge arrow build can more reliably clear packs and small doorways since the prolif clears everything. However this version frontloads a lot more damage and is much safer

You don't need a lot to get started, but like most Es builds you do need something - like hyrris ire and some bow. I like chin sol.

Until you get a lot of ES from Energized From Within jewels (which are expensive) I suggest going hybrid. For 95% of the game it feels really, really good but only risky place is incursion with the chaos spell dudes. Once you switch to CI game is ez. Oh also desecrated ground hurts

    PoB: https://pastebin.com/gxcUUSTR

Gems: Scourge arrow+added cold+elemental damage with attacks+infused channeling+damage at full life+cold penetration/mirage archer Playing with mirage archer SA is fun, but you can't max out the dps quite as high. It's a little smoother and then Vaal RoA becomes a little stronger. Up to you

    Vaal Rain of Arrows+added cold+elemental damage with attacks+damage at full life+cold penetration/mirage archer/conc effect

Herald of ice - I like automaton a lot War banner - so amazing for accuracy Discipline If you can fit the reservation with godly gear, grace

Blink arrow + faster attacks for mobility Can use phase run also Cast when damage taken + immortal call + Enfeeble

Gear: Chin sol is the highest damage bow. With it you can pretty easily freeze bosses at least to yellow maps (haven't tried higher)

Something that might be comparable but less reliant on close range is a rare bow with 20% more damage for socketed attacks with elemental penetration and chance for double damage

Hopeshredder isn't great we don't have much negation for the degen and it's large amount of cold dmg is additive to Hyrris ire, whereas a rare bow and chin sol are multiplicative

Chest - hyrris ire is godlike. It's a 450 Es, 2700 evasion chest for trickster with 225 added cold damage and 10% attack and spell dodge. Obscene

Helmet - get as much Es as you can, accuracy, resists. High tier gear (I don't even have in my PoB) is nearby enemies have -9% cold res. Craft pierce

Ammy - pandemonius best in slot, helps with survivability by blind/chill everything and a huge amount of penetration. Rare with ES, accuracy, res can do til then

Gloves - ES, accuracy, resists, attack speed, added cold damage in that order. Craft pierce

Boots - Movement speed, ES, resists

Belt - ES, resists, elemental damage with attacks Crystal or Stygian are both good bases Bated breath works too for big ES

Rings - ES, resists, elemental damage with attacks, attack speed

Quiver - soulstrike is great for defense. Not super required though it does combo well with bated breath. Tough to get accuracy with so many uniques though. Rare with accuracy, multi, eda, attack speed, cold damage adds a LOT of damage. Craft pierce

Bandits - points are tough to find while there are lots of rares for resists. So kill all or Alira

Ascendancy Trickster, no other options Start with the channeling frenzy power charge one Then the two ES ghost shroud nodes Last is the added chaos damage

Leveling: Helpful uniques - stormcloud, tabula, wanderlust Onslaught jewel is nice Level with ice shot or the lightning one, get volley lvl 4 then added cold at lvl 8 Lightning arrow lvl 12 or Rain of Arrows Get to scourge arrow Once you get your 3rd ascendancy start grabbing more Es gear

Grab pierce nodes on tree ASAP and then remove once you have enough gear with pierce

Flasks Wise oak, jade, stibnite, quicksilver, silver, diamond

General Tips: Proximity shield: fire a full charged scourge arrow from range at the prox shield guy, then blink arrow in and spam flasks. Everyone will be blinded, the pods explode and everything shatters

Any betrayal, red beast or boss can be trivialized by Vaal RoA and that beastly maim

For dungeon or lava chamber or other shitty areas with lots of doors, you can use rain of arrows as your primary then SA when there's room

Scourge arrow pods spread based on how far your cursor is. So for bosses stick close and put your cursor even closer. Volley lets you bring the pods closer if you feel like that route

Looking for league starter melee Scion build.

    Posted: 16 Mar 2019 08:46 PM PDT

This will be my second league, and I didn't play all that much last time, so I'm still completely lost when it comes to making builds. But as the title says, I'm looking for a melee Scion. Preferably one that is something along the lines of a Paladin, fire based warrior, or a mix of the two, but isn't cyclone or flicker strike based. Found these builds already, but cyclone doesn't seem all that fun, and flicker strike, while interesting, looks like it would give me a headache.

It also doesn't have to be meta build in quality, I'd be fine with something basic that can do some endgame content and just be enough to grind a bit of currency so I can make a more expensive build later on.

Can you help my Incinerate CWC Firestorm do Incursions?!

    Posted: 16 Mar 2019 07:00 PM PDT

Someone posted in the 3.6 Paint thread his idea of making an mana Hierophant ES leech tank. I found the idea really intriguing and made one and it is really amazing.

    https://pastebin.com/ayvy76Li

My problem is not the damage per se but the ramp up time it takes to make me get there. Which really makes me struggle in Incursions at times.

Is Incinerate CWC Firestorm that bad? Should I selfcast Firestorm? What about Firestorm-Unleash? Should I not use Incinerate or Firestorm at all?

First Build Help - Flicker/Double Strike Scion

    Posted: 16 Mar 2019 06:28 PM PDT

    All,

I am looking for some guidance in developing my first build.

Here are my goals for the build: 1. Flicker Strike as primary mapping skill 2. Physical damage based 3. Single target option (e.g., Vaal Double Strike) 4. League Starter 5. Very low barrier to sustainability, but scalable 6. Be able to complete all content eventually

I plan on playing this build exclusively over the course of the league. To that end, I plan on initially building out my passive tree to help mitigate having low budget gear, then shifting passives from defense to offense over time.

Some assumptions: • Scion, ascending to Juggernaut and Slayer with path of the Duelist (but open to discussion) • Will be using Terminus Est • A budget collection of uniques to start: Belly of the Beast, Starkonja, Carnage Heart, Belt of the Deceiver, potentially adding Thief's Torment when obtainable

Here is my current tree: www.poeurl.com/ckD2. I need to cut a bunch of passives but don't know what to prioritize.

    • Should I try to pick up more attack speed nodes? E.g., the berserk group below Constitution.

    • Should I drop the 3 nodes at Combat Stamina (West side) and pick up the three armor/evasion/life nodes at Duelist start?

    • I currently have several resistance nodes South of Scion start, including a jewel socket. I anticipate being able to drop these as my gear develops and I shore up my resistances.

    • Is it worth pursing the extra frenzy and endurance charge nodes?

    • Should I continue using Vaal Pact? Should I try to dump any nodes that give regen?

    • Should I try to work in Iron Reflexes, since I am not picking up Acrobatics/Phase Acrobatics?

    • I don't know how to best evaluate or prioritize between the various dps nodes.

    • What supports are best for Flicker Strike and Vaal Double Strike at 4-5-6 links?

    • What defensive skills make the most sense for this build? CwDt + IC + ID + Artic Armor or Enfeeble?

    • Should I work in a buffed Ancestral Warchief for supporting Double Strike?

    • Can I use Rotgut successfully with this build?

    • Is Terminus Est sufficient for Frenzy Charge sustain, or should I work in Poacher's Mark / Blood Rage?

    • Which auras would work best? Or curses on CwDt or supported by Blasphemy?

    • How much should I prioritize jewel sockets? Are there budget unique jewels I should be considering?

Thanks in advance for any guidance or insight.

    Help with Zombies in T15+

    Posted: 16 Mar 2019 05:48 PM PDT

    https://pastebin.com/A2pyWXvS

I'm trying to add some meat shield zombies to a skeleton summoner build. I'm wondering how much I need to invest in them to have them tanky enough for T15+ maps and running bosses like Shaper/Guardian/Elder.

I'm pretty sure Lvl 20 Zombie plus minion life won't be enough. But I don't want to invest much more and take away from my skelly dps.

    Any advice?

edit: should point out I'm using Bone Offering if that helps much

    Any recommendations for Lazy/Chill/relaxing builds?

    Posted: 16 Mar 2019 01:14 PM PDT

A bit of story about me and my league "start" . I started as Soulrend/Bane Trickster found it very boring and felt that Soulrend feels kinda slow(casting animation that is) . Then I rerolled a Witch and went Winter Orb... and I'm not a big fan of that one either.

I'm looking for something that's relaxing to play that doesn't require much clicking around as my wrist tends to get quite tired after clicking for a map or two.

Just kinda need some directions as what to go for.

I basically want to mostly Map/Delve and maybe kill bosses as well. Would like something that has a decent map clear. Thank you very much in advance.

Curious as to what others think about the game over all. I've played through act 1 and it was enjoyable. I'm a die hard souls fan and I played d2 religiously years ago. Recently I've been playing d3 for a few months. I found Poe and I like it way better then d3 already . The trading and crafting is cool . This game has the feel of d2 for me . I'm running with molten strike Jugg for my first one. I am curious about the pvp, I've heard mixed feelings about this .

    Changing builds, need recommendations

    Posted: 16 Mar 2019 06:08 AM PDT

I started the league with Raider/Slayer cyclone, probably wasn't the smartest choice considering the nerfs. I'm getting bored of the slow clear speed and also getting punished for making small positioning mistakes in boss fights so i'm looking to change builds.

I'm going to just spend currency on respeccing my entire skill tree, and i should have 8ex + 600c remaining to buy gear/gems.

I've never really tried other skills beyond KB,Cyclone,Arc mines,Poet pen VD so no clue as to how other skills work. I'm looking for a preferably ranged build with (priority):
    1) Fast map clear
    2) Not squishy (getting 1 shot easily etc.)
    3) High boss dps (optional)
    4) Bonus points if it has heralds since i like explosions.

    Thanks!

    Frostblades Champion Help needed

    Posted: 16 Mar 2019 12:47 PM PDT

    Hello,

after i tried two builds (Purifying Flames Inq and Storm Brand Assassin) both of wich I didn't quite enjoy, i thought myself: Time to make a melee build in this hard times, where gear for CI builds and Spell just gets to expensiv.

So i wanted to do a Frostblade Champion, because i actually never really played Frostblades to maps.

This Character should go up to red maps, at least thats what i aim for (and maybe not die all the time).

Now i looked around and am rather confused.

1st. What weapons should i go with, claw or sword?

As it seems, when you go claws, the weapons to go are two touch of anguish (or one bloodseaker) as the budget option (which should work, because i actually don't want to pay 5 ex per weapon, don't have the money for that).

When you go swords, two Scaevas or Paradoxias are the go to weapons (as cheap alternatives to the crafted ones), or eaven a pair of Varunastras.

    2nd What is the 6link

This is what confuses me the most. I actually now level this character (currently level 47).

Every buildguid and the people on poe.ninja go with Frostblades - Elemental Damage with attacks (no brainer) - Ruthless/Ancestrall Call (for bosses/trash also no brainer to take this) - melee physical damage (more damage okay)- Hypothermia (even moar damage, this one i also get) - multistrike

The last one, i just don't get, i don't know, during leveling it feels bad, i actually don't clear faster. With added cold Damage support i feel, like i have more Damage (one shoting blue packs, instead of attacking and only killing on the second hit and being looked for another attack animation)

    Am I missing here something?

    3rd Aruas

So okay this is maybe not that complicated, You ran Wrath and then either Herald of Ice/Purity with enlighten both? Or don't I do that? And when I don't have an enlighten, what to Herald to drop?

I looked at two buildguides and the people on poe.ninja just to see what general skill tree to take, but well i don't have any Idea how I would build this charater.

(Buildguides are from Wildwombat https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/1886363 and from sidefx https://www.pathofexile.com/forum/view-thread/2256050 and well poe.ninja for the few champions that are up there)

Hope somebody can help me out a little bit here.
