Soulrend/bane and its variations? Everyone seems to play it differently.

    Posted: 14 Mar 2019 09:43 PM PDT

I'm currently leveling very slowly in my free time a soulrend trickster but between the guide I'm following and also checking poe.ninja I'm at a lose cause everyone seems to play set it up differently.

I'm loving the way it plays but when I get to maps soon and everything else I want to have a good idea of what in supposed to be looking for gear wise

Should I just follow the main guide or is there a thread or something that's working way better than the guide that i could be reading up on? I have plenty of time to change and fix my build before I hit end game grinds.

Beginner here, running out of builds that interest me after 3 characters?

    Posted: 15 Mar 2019 04:41 AM PDT

I decided to start playing PoE again after years of hiatus at the end of the the second last season for a few weeks. I've leveled a ED/Con Witch with the help of this beginners guide. It didn't really suit me, and for the Betrayal league I've chose to pick a Frostblade build as the league starter. Somehow this didn't click for me either, so after the Frostblades char was around lvl 50, I've switched to a phys Tornado character which was actually fun to play. It had reachable upgrades that I still had to work towards. I've picked a couple of other builds to play in the next (so the current) season, but they all got nerfed, so I've looked for new ones. ED/Con seemed to be still viable after the patch notes, so I wanted to give it another chance. I'm running ~T5 maps right now, and while it's okay, I'm not having a great time.

Since two days now I look for new builds, primarily on poebuilds.cc. But they mostly seem to fall in either of those categories:

    • Your melee char attacks 10 times per second while being unkillable (Tectonic Slam, Molten Strike)

    • Your character shoots a thing which spread and kills everything (Frostblades, ED/Con, Caustic Arrow, Fireball)

    • Your character places something, which kills everything (Totems, Arc, Freezing Pulse)

    • Your character just kills everything by moving (Winter Orb, Summoner)

It either seems to be like "faceroll everything and never die" or "yellow maps are the end, this build is not for boss killing" but no in between. A support build would be interesting, I guess, but I don't have a fixed party to play with. Not even anything in the guided builds section is really that interesting. I've read about a the Windripper for MF which sounded interesting, but not because it's a quick farmer, but because it just sounded a bit different.

It's not that easy to describe my "problem" but I have the feeling I'm missing part of the picture. Do you guys have any recommendations? Are all those guides just exaggerating? I'm looking for a challenge, but not for one that can't experience all content. A build that can clear decently on budget until a specific tier, but scales well with gear. Maybe one where positioning matters. Something like the D2 Wizard, where you ported around, had a frost shield, a small lighting aura and the satisfying frost orb kills when you spam them into the masses.

    Non SSF, SC btw

    Thanks! :)

Dropped Shavronne's wrappings, sell it or respec?

    Posted: 15 Mar 2019 03:31 AM PDT

Hello, I'm looking for some advice on how to proceed.

Currently I'm playing a WO CwC Ice spear Scion (Here), but I ended up dropping my (first ever) Shavs, so I'm thinking whether I should go LL or just sell it for better gear. I understand that I have to spend a lot of currency either way, but I'm not sure if it's worth it. Would I even end up with a sufficient amount of ES if I use a staff?

Herald Agony CI Trickster tank with Ball Lightning to proc 40 poison (cap)

    Posted: 14 Mar 2019 11:57 AM PDT

My idea is to use Ball Lightning to proc the maximum of 40 Stacks of the Herald of Agony almost instantly. I had this idea now at work, so I'm not at home to see the DPS values in PoB. I will use Trickster to have no problems with mana regeneration, take advantage of Ghost Dance + Escape Artist and high cast speed.

Unique items (for now): Cospri's Will (60% poison chance + hexproof + around 300 ES) + Heretic's Veil (reduced mana reservation to curse with blasphemy) + Intuitive Leap (to take minor nodes to chance dodge in Acrobatics cluster).

    Help Kraytin.

    Tree

With this tree + 2 enlightenn level 3 + Heretic's Veil I will have high reduced mana reserved. I have too 100% chance poison enemies and high cast speed.

With this I can run Discipline + Herald Agony 5L + Blasphemy with Enfeeble with around 13% mana free.

Ball Lightning level 1 + spell echo + faster casting + Increased AoE

Ball Lightning has 150 ms between each hit. High cast + AoE will significantly help to have 40 stacks quickly. I will use an abyss jewel with flat physical damage to spells to proc poison.

Bane + Despair + Temporal Chain + reduced mana.

Tree + Cospri's Will I can have 3 curse at same time. I will use Bane + Despair + Temporal Chain to help against bosses.

Herald of Agony + Minion Damage + Minion speed + faster attacks + added chaos

    Main link to cause damage.

Will it work well or is Rain of Arrow unbeatable?

Level 91, would appreciate feedback for the next most cost-efficient upgrade for my Divine Ire Hierophant

    Posted: 15 Mar 2019 01:22 AM PDT

    For PoB profile import:

    IGN: Unacceptable
    Character: PhotonCannonRush

Hoping to improve my build for T15+. Plans were to get a Devouring Diadem, Atziri's Reflection & Cowards Legacy and Onslaught boots, however since none available I thought I'd ask you for advice. I welcome tree optimization as well. I'd appreciate your feedback!

    Divine Ire variations

    Posted: 14 Mar 2019 11:03 AM PDT

I'm looking to play a Divine Ire build and as far as I understand there are at least two variants: Crit, and CWC.

Does anyone know which of these variants is better for bossing? Which has better survivability? Tankiness? Aoe clear? Looking for some pro's/cons for each variation before diving in.

    Thanks!

looking for ssf darkness farming build/advice

    Posted: 14 Mar 2019 09:52 AM PDT

I'm playing a ci occultist just like 30% of the playerbase and since my build sucks at darkness farming, sulphite is rarer than exalts and fossil drops are nerfed I'm going to make a new character specifically for farming fossils with torches.

I'm planning to play some kind of sunder jugg with a lot of regen because it has to survive depth 100-200. All the darkness farming builds I've found are <2k hp pathfinders farming 50-80 and I don't think I can make an ms pathfinder tanky enough.
If anybody has a build that is budget friendly ue viable off meta capable of farming depth 100+ or ideas for link setups/whatever it would be greatly appreciated! :)

Looking for ideas/suggestions for a glass cannon damage nuke 4+ mil dps

    Posted: 14 Mar 2019 10:32 PM PDT

Hey all! I just had a funny thought of making a character just for fun that doesn't care about defenses or anything. Can get one shot, who cares. But its primary focus is to deal the highest possible damage output in a short amount of time. Ideally used in parties where he goes in and just nukes the hell out of bosses in the 10 seconds before he dies hahahaha. 3-4mil dps or more. Blam blam boom!

    Post your ideas! He he

Looking for suggestions for T16 uber elder farmer that synergizes Mana Guardian

    Posted: 14 Mar 2019 06:40 PM PDT

Have reached lvl 92 on my ek nova and basically hit a wall without insane crazy gear such as +1 socketed gem chest with lvl 4 empower etc. Even with vaal bv 4L setup it still feels pretty bad killing bosses at the end of t13+ maps.

Current start up budget for new build is ~6-7 ex, and investing up to 30-40ex within the next month or so.

I am going to focus on the same strategy I had last league which is spamming T16 maps and farming uber elder whenever it comes up.

My friend has a decked out mana guardian so I want an es based character (he will be giving me 6-7k es)

I am currently considering CI vortex occu, winter orb/storm brand (not sure which ascendency is best atm). New chaos skills look interesting but I have not looked into them enough to see how viable or how fast the playstyle is.

I am open to more options as well, as long as it synergizes well with a mana guardian and handles Uelder on its own.

I was farming Uelder last league on life based elementalist storm brand, but es looks way too good to pass up this patch :D

Thanks in advance for all the input/suggestions

Need help with Winter Orb elementalist

    Posted: 14 Mar 2019 02:57 PM PDT

Basically, this is my current build: https://pastebin.com/NiNEtGSr

Checking flasks shows my build at 23k DPS. I know this is not accurate as the Config tab is untouched but it's a good reference to compare to this build I took from poe.ninja: https://pastebin.com/EYzHZqV1

With the same settings, this guy has 4x my damage. I know my items are shit and that mostly everything could use an upgrade, but I'm having a hard time seeing where that other builds get that much damage from. Is there something big I'm missing, or is it just small improvements here and there?

    Thanks for your help.

EDIT: Just noticed I have Paragon of Calamity to help during atlas completion, switching to Mastermind of Discord puts me at around 30k DPS. Big improvement, still far from what seems to be possible.

    Storm Burst build?

    Posted: 14 Mar 2019 03:43 PM PDT

I was leveling my WO elementalist and just so happened to pop in a storm burst and instantly fell in love with the spell. I know it isn't meta, but does anyone have a POB link for a build? Looking to be on the tankier side since I will be standing still channeling.

Best Single Target Option for Winter Orb

    Posted: 14 Mar 2019 01:57 PM PDT

I'm not using CWC like other builds and want to figure out the best 4L I can get to assist my single target DPS. Thinking either Bane (I have +1 curses) or Frost Bomb. Any recommendations for best 4 Link (or maybe a psuedo higher link with gear)?

Trickster or Assassin for a poison storm burst build?

    Posted: 14 Mar 2019 07:50 AM PDT

So storm burst is pretty damn fun and I'm enjoying my current Inquisitor build. However I want to try to scale poison with the spell since it hits an insanely fast amount. Never done a poison build so it's hard to see the path forward. Assassin seems way squishier but with the 5% poison duration per poison inflicted recently along with the phys as chaos it seems like the best for heavy stack damage. Trickster seems far tankier and you get way more cast speed which let's you get more orbs out but you lose out on insane duration and crit scaling. What are your thoughts?

    Need Help Optimizing Passive Tree

I'm looking to build a Divine Ire MoM/EB Trickster and I want to trim this down to something attainable at lvl. 80-85, but I don't know what nodes to pick over others. I also don't know when to pick up a jewel slot over another passive.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    Tankiest Bow Build 3.6?

    Posted: 14 Mar 2019 11:26 AM PDT

As title asks, I'm wondering if it's still EleHit Scion, or if there's been something else that's moved up in terms of surivivability while still maintaining the fast/ranged bow style of play.

I league started with a Storm Brand Elementalist and have around 5-6 Ex available to move onto more Red Map based farming. Brand is fine, but I loved my EleHit scion from last league and wanted to try moving that direction again.

So I guess my questions are (on a 5ish Ex budget) is EleHit my best bet for tanky bow builds? Or is there a different variant or even skill (doesn't have to be EleHit) that can provide similar playstyle while maintaining high (read "I can't dodge crap") survivability.

    Looking for build advice

    Posted: 14 Mar 2019 04:47 PM PDT

Hi, long time lurker, first time poster. I've played PoE for a few years now (in 3 different leagues) but have never completed the campaign. The farthest I've made it is Act 4 but then my builds fall apart and I end up quitting until the next season. Last league was the first time I attempted to use a build guide and I made it the farthest, but things still didn't work out.

I started a build in Synthesis last night, but I'm not enjoying it so I started looking at other builds. Now I am literally paralyzed with indecision and overwhelmed with information. I just can't decide on a build. I was hoping to get a recommendation from this sub-reddit to push me to a specific build (with a guide if possible) so I can, hopefully, finally finish the campaign and experience some end game content.

    Here are some "requirements":

    - Beginner friendly

    - Cheap to start (new league so I'm poor)

    - Quick clear speeds/fast moving

    - I want to speed onto the screen, push a button (maybe 2) and have everything just die instantly, speed to the next screen and rinse and repeat

    - Ranged or AOE preferred, but Melee is ok if it meets the other requirements. I ran Molten Strike briefly last league and got bored holding the button down waiting for things to die in the early game.

    - I'm most interested in doing maps in the end game, but some bosses would be great for loot grinding and to experience more end game content.

Thanks in advance for any help/info you can provide.

Crit conversion spell, Inquisitor, Assassin or Trickster?

    Posted: 14 Mar 2019 10:21 AM PDT

I'm thinking of making a Divine Ire or Storm Burst bosser, goal is really high dps and some life (or ES or Hybrid).

Inquisitor has consecrated ground for defense while channeling and the pretty strong crits ignore res.

    Assassin has loads of crit.

Trickster has a bunch of attack and cast soeed along with interesting hybrid options.
