I'm currently looking into what I could do for 3.9, and since I want to dodge the price inflation of everything related to the Ranger I started to list some builds that could be fun. One of them is Lacerate Glad, but as I started looking into what Glad do nowadays I saw that a heavy split happened. I used to play this ascendency when it was a no-brain Gratuitous Violence and Versatile Combattant most of the time, but now I see that most Gladiators take either and Arena Challenger. My main question isn't GV vs VC though, as I'm 97% sure I want the latter, but I just want to know what is so good about Challenger stacks. 10% speed and more damage sounds great for 2 ascendency points that aren't reliant on another node, but is it that great? | Ground Slam + Herald of Purity Berserker for league start Posted: 30 Nov 2019 05:18 PM PST Hi guys, i rolled a Gladiator using Ground Slam and a 4 linked HoP in HC SSF recently and despite all my predictions it turned a really solid build, GS is cool for clearing and HoP minions help a lot during bosses. Playing a little with PoB i noticed that if i'd picked Berserker i could've invested more into minion damage (taking Spiritual Aid + Resolute Techinque, so no crit allowed) and consequentially i had an higher dps with Ground Slam itself, even because of Berkserker ascendancy (250k GS + 80k per minion, so a totally of 500k dps with literally 0 investiment). Just a question tho, I've never played a Berserker, so how does Rage exactly works? Is it too much of an hassle to try to mantain it or it is quite easy? Is it a reliable source of damage? Posted: 30 Nov 2019 11:43 AM PST So I have played this game for a while and tried all sorts of different builds but I recently tried to get a friend into playing and was trying to recommend a play style/build to aim for based on what he likes to do (spells/bows/melee/dot dmg/tanky/whatever). And he said to me that he likes the idea of grouping mobs up to finish them off with some sort of large aoe, I guess he enjoys the setup/payoff aspect. But for the life of me I couldn't think of any builds that have this kind of play style. This idea of grouping mobs to a location in order to aoe reminds me more of the strategy you see in high end Diablo 3 gameplay and less what you typically see in endgame PoE. anyone know of any builds that have this strategy? endgame viability isn't a huge factor as this person is only just starting so this would be more just to get him involved and gain some game experience. Posted: 30 Nov 2019 07:46 AM PST Hello, I'm new to POE and I managed to create a 82% Block (Attack/Spell) Gladiator but I was using Spectral Shield Throw + Impale + Projectile DMG and it was not working well damage wise. (My Shield have only 600 armor) My question is, which Skill Gem is best suited to own Shaper/Elder compared to the above set up and maintaining the max block fantasy? Heard these are viable starters as well (NHC 3.9). Obviously patch notes will ultimately decide whats gonna work but I wanna theorycraft a little bit. | CwC whispering ice elementalist Posted: 30 Nov 2019 06:38 AM PST Hi all! I spent the last hour or so crafting my starter build for 3.9 SSF softcore. Any and all feedback is welcome. Thinking that whispering ice would be easy enough to find even in SSF I tried a variant on the pretty well-known cyclone cwc builds to minimize reliance on a six-link. The plan is to level with Freezing Pulse until I get whispering ice and then transition to cyclone cwc.
Here is what I came up with (gear just randomly taken from other guides). Soul of the Brine King/Soul of Shakari (stuns and chaos damage are weak points) https://pastebin.com/NeV0n533 (now with CI tree as well)
Rough DPS calculations for ice storm (more or less pulled out of my a**): Hit: 21k according to pob against shaper CWC proc rate: 3/sec Ice storm duration@660 int: 2,5 sec Ice storm hit rate: 10/sec This means after ramp up any given second I should have on average: 3*2,5=7,5 ice storms up This produces a total of: 7,5*10=75 shards/sec Assuming ALL shards hit and after ramp-up this yields: 21000*75=1,5M DPS
Let's say 1/3 of the shards hit to be (somewhat) realistic which still would yield a not-so-shabby ~500k shaper DPS without charges or flasks for a build that should be pretty easy to gear in SSF. [link] [comments]  |

All I want is to kill uber elder before the new patch but i'm not sure what to change to get my dps up.
