LocalIdentity's Path of Building v1.4.152.6 Fork

    Posted: 01 Dec 2019 12:46 PM PST

    Hey everyone,

A new update is finally out, notable changes are as follows:

    • Impale DPS numbers courtesy of edmundsmith
    • Elementalist golem buff/damage nodes
    • Support for triad grips
    • 100% Increased crit from being on consecrated ground

Other minor changes can be seen here

How the Impale DPS numbers look at the moment: https://imgur.com/a/33uAebs

Earlier today I created a custom version of the new burning arrow gem to be able to test out the new damage changes and was wondering if the community would like access to these as well. They're not 100% accurate and I am just basing the differences in level damage off other gem level scaling. Not sure how hard it's going to be to create some of the new gems though especially the ones that we've only seen low-level versions of so far.

Here's my previous post with a lot more info about the fork if you want to know more.

If you want to download my fork, head here: https://github.com/LocalIdentity/PathOfBuilding/wiki/Installing-this-Fork

Also if there has been a feature or something you have wanted to be changed in PoB let me know and I'll add it to a list of requested features or you can add it yourself below. I want this fork to be a more community-based version of PoB where many people are helping to keep the program updated.

So if you are a dev and wish to add something to my fork, feel free to make a pull request and I'll see if I can add it in.

Or if you want to request a feature, head here: https://feathub.com/LocalIdentity/PathOfBuilding

Everyone can vote on suggestions too, so myself and others who wish to contribute will know what is most wanted by the community

    A lost mirror :(

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 05:46 PM PST

Played a blighted map. Quite rippy for my build. we ended up using all portals, and when the shitty drops in the end appeared, they turned out not to be to shitty.. since it dropped a mirror of kalandra.. Quite sad for that to happen since its my first mirror.. the remains of my soul kind of vanished there :c

    Introducing poegems.com, skill gem finder

    Posted: 01 Dec 2019 12:23 PM PST

    What is it?

Poegems.com lists all the skill gems from the game, along with details about each of them such as socket colors, tags, or where to buy them already leveled. With so many gems in the game (377 as of my last count), this tool is intended to help with build-making, and simply keeping up with the game.

Other websites offering something similar are either deprecated, slow, and/or do not offer the level of granularity that is often necessary when looking for that one special gem. Less importantly, this website should be compatible with most devices.

    How to use it?

You may use filters to apply to that list in order to find the gems that could work with your build. For example, let's say you would like to figure out what Chaos damage skill to use for your dexterity-stacking character.

In order to do that, you would click on the Chaos tag to make it blue, meaning it is now activated: only gems with that specific tag will be shown in the list. Then you would also click twice on the Herald and Support tags until they are red, to remove the gems you are not interested in.

Finally, you could make sure to get only dexterity/green socket by making Green active in the Colors/Sockets filters, and remove all the gems that require intelligence by turning Blue off (so, red) in the Colors/Any filters.

And we are all done! Just press the Start the search button and look at the results.

If you are on desktop, you can get additional information by hovering your cursor over any text underlined with dots. If you are on mobile, this won't work as of now, but I'm working on it!

Where can I find your gems data?

I update the data myself using a complex crawling script. The complete list can be found here and is free to use. Check the info at the bottom right of the page to know when the data has been updated last.

    What's next?

I am currently working on an elegant system to incorporate upcoming/revealed gems into the website, as well as, possibly, filtering by league of release.

I have been working on this website for a few months, and next version should be ready for 3.9 with a number of improvements, additional features, and updated gem data (of course).

Of course, I more than welcome any question or suggestion!

So if i remember last years Betrayel league during christmas holidays im a bit worried

    Posted: 01 Dec 2019 06:15 AM PST

So last year we got the big Betrayel update right before christmas holidays and the league was great, with some little problems like the to strong chaos syndicates. Which is not really a problem for me, but the league had another big problem.

What really was the biggest problem for me, was the games performance during peek hours, since many people have holiday and play. It was so damn laggy every day during the holidays around 7p.m. in europe and im afraid this is going to ruin the experience of many players again. So is there a plan to smooth this years holiday season?

I know GGG staff is having their well earned vacation too , after a hard year and Exilecon.

The fact that GGG added a separate debuff that stacks on top of ignite for burning arrow shows that they know ignite is terrible for single target unless your skill is literally the slowest hardest hitting skill in the game (cough divine ire cough.)

    Posted: 30 Nov 2019 10:07 PM PST

Please for the love of god revert Emberwake or make a new unique that filled the old void that it used to. The current emberwake is an absolute joke and it's better to just have an opal ring with damage on it.

Ignite is probably the least useful ailment in the game for single target if it's not one of the handful of skills that are slow hard hitting skills. Yes, ignite proliferation is amazing for clear but so is herald of Ice. Chill and shock while even if you can't get the full 30/50% is still good for bosses. Meanwhile if you're playing a firestorm build you're better off with using elemental focus and pretending you don't know what ailments are.

Yes, I know that Immolate support exsists but so do added cold/light/chaos. level 21 average damage for each of the supports is as follows. Cold: 233.5 Light: 245.5 Chaos 332 Immolate: 281 It's roughly 13% more flat damage than lightning after you have a burn on them meaning you need to hit at least 8 times (assuming the first hit ignites) for it to be worth it to use over the other supports.

Other sources of flat damage for spells include (average damage) 67 for 1 handers, 90 from 2 handers, 28.5 per T1 roll on jewels. Meaning that it's almost never worth using Immolate over these options and just using elemental focus for a high more damage multiplier. There are obviously more sources of flat damage like Anger etc but I'm just using these as an example.

Currently there is ZERO reason to play a multi hit fire spell and go ignite. The fire damage over time multi is great but it doesn't change the fact that we need a reason not to use elemental focus on our fire skills.

I think a combination of a Keystone and a unique that has that keystone on it would be a great addition. Every skill should be able to use ignite if they choose so not just the most recent skills that have been buffed.

Lets be honest Burning arrow now has 6 ignites; it's just the 5 ignites after the first can't being proliferated and deal less damage. At least burning arrow will be decent depending on what they do with the threshold jewels.

    Edit: Thanks for the Gold.

PoE Layout Guide: The Ship Graveyard (Act 1)

Maybe PoE needs a map for endgame activities similar to EVE Online's career tree

    Posted: 01 Dec 2019 05:29 AM PST

EVE Online has a neat little career tree, which I believe was created and iterated on by its community, showing all the possible activities you can do, even including things outside of the game. It works well because EVE has a massive amount of content and sometimes both newbies and veterans can get lost trying to figure out what to do or how to do it. (here's one of the first versions of it).

I think PoE could benefit greatly from something similar, because it's starting to accumulate its own massive amount of content, specifically endgame content. It would definitely be smaller than EVE's, but maybe it could map all the existing endgame bosses, from Atziri to Uber Elder (and more with the new patch). The EVE tree has a legend showing the amount of risk, reward and difficulty each activity has. The PoE version could have some quick references to zone levels, fragments needed to open portals, difficulty etc.

I'd be up to start making something like that, but I don't know 100% of the endgame in PoE. I suppose this is the kind of thing that can keep being iterated on by the community. Does it sound like a good/useful idea?

[Discussion] From a slow player: This has been the best league for me so far.

    Posted: 01 Dec 2019 10:22 AM PST

As the title states, I have a slow playstyle. The first days of the league, I played several hours a day. That's down to less than an hour on weekdays and 1-2 h on weekends.

I play almost exclusively witches. The majority of those are minion necromancers. I play semi-SSF; I have one friend I trade items with, if something drops to one of us that the other one needs/wants more. I've been unlucky and unable to six-link my choice piece of torso armor so far, but in spite of that...

There is still some time left on this league, but it has already beaten all previous records regarding my achievements. It's the first league where I complete the atlas. I just met the Shaper for the first time (and yes, I beat him). I'm about to go for the Uber Elder, and it just blows. My. Mind.

As far as I can tell, the league itself was almost perfectly designed for my kind of player. I love tower defense games. To my slow style of play, the rewards are phenomenal. Especially the scarab nodes are ridiculously good.

But the biggest boost, I think, has come from the new master system. By strategically saving my Zana dailies for the highest-tier maps I own, I shot much higher, much quicker, in the atlas compared to all previous leagues. And once I could do tier 16 maps, plonking a Zana daily on top would pretty much ensure not only sustain, but that my tier 16 map pool is growing. It's just incredible how nice that is.

So a very sincere thank you, GGG. The league's been an absolute blast. I won't get all the challenges, or even close (probably around 25 or so), but I am beating personal bests left and right. It feels really good.

It's that time of the year again (P.E.T.R.)

    Posted: 01 Dec 2019 01:41 AM PST

Considering a new league is upon us, I would like a minute of your time to talk about one of the greatest injustices in Path of Exile.

It has been nearly four and a half year since the release of The Awakening. New bosses were made, who nearly all became map bosses. Their names were remembered and immortalized in the mythical endgame.

    All but one.

We at People for the Ethical Treatment of Rakangos have but one goal. We want Triskeriaki to take his well-deserved place as a map boss.

He is a good boy who has only ever done what was expected of him, and what did he get? Forgotten.

This is unacceptable. Bring back Triskeriaki, because you all know it's the right thing to do

Also because of the inevitabile hilarious rip videos to turbo gmp triskeriaki

    Posted: 01 Dec 2019 09:48 AM PST

Just figured out that enduring cry can be activated on cooldown, if you put the skill on "left-mousebutton". For me as an RF-Player, it's really useful to do so.

Looting: Shoutouts to the Logitech G502 mouse

    Posted: 01 Dec 2019 04:57 AM PST

I have been playing PoE with it for years and while my wrist is dying, the mouse isn't. At this point GGG should endorse this mouse as "Grind Gear's top pick" as it can withstand even PoE's most archaic and hellish loot-pick-up design.

    Thank you Logitech.

@GGG: Wider loot radius with the camera zoom-out in PoE2 pls. Also stacked currency drops and/or auto loot the type of currency you clicked on that lies within the loot radius. Meaning: if there are 5 alterations in close proximity we pick them up by clicking on just 1 of them. It's [the current year] and some things are just not acceptable anymore.

Part of me wishes for EU regulations to force developers into healthier game-design at this point.
