    Regarding PoE Overlay and PoE Planner using Overwolf for future updates.

    If you haven't already seen because of the massive amounts of down votes both threads received, the tools Poe Overlay and PoE Planner have partnered up with a company called Overwolf to develop their "Gaming Apps"

    Overwolf has a long loooong history of shady practices including data mining and targeted advertising. Some examples from their website:

    Overwolf merges ad experience with positive gaming experience. We use smart ad placement and timing to reach buyers' KPIs. Ads are shown while users wait for the game to load or while they browse team stats.

    I understand the creators of these tools rightly deserve to be compensated for the amount of time and effort they put into making these tools, but using bloated malware disguised as "a software platform designed to help developers create extensions for video games" is 100% the wrong way to go about it.

    I really hope these creators can find a better way to monetize their time and effort such as patreon donations & other services that don't interact with the actual tool. I have to actively navigate to the help menu of PoE Overlay to find a small link to his patreon, put it out there more! Do what wikipedia does and have a pop up every few days asking politely to consider donating to the cause, anything would be better than selling out to a garbage company like Overwolf.

    I always wondered why you have no idea who you are capturing. Those random names they have in game don't do much, why not add another line as it is when orbing them? At least for red beasts it would be great QoL improvement.

    It really sucks to only get a handful of the available threshold jewels from a single quest. This is not a new request, but seeing as lots of people want to try SSF this coming league it would be nice to FINALLY have access to build enabling threshold jewels such as the glacial hammer or double strike jewels as quest rewards.     A tool developer's opinion on monetization and why it may be necessary

    Taking Overwolf and their practices out of the discussion, I wanted to mention some reasons as to why tools may or may not need to be monetized to continue development.

    In the world that we live in, we all have bills to pay. Many of us are fortunate enough to have full time jobs in order to eat and provide shelter. A lot of us app developers find enjoyment in creating projects that the community enjoys and uses on a regular basis.

    There are a ton of projects that exist in the world today almost solely due to large corporate users/backers. Take a look at Github recently allowing private repositories for free, Cloudflare allowing a ton of functionality for free upfront, and Linux. Even though these applications hire and pay teams of engineers, project managers, business analysts, and more, they are providing something for free to a lot of their users. The people within an organization don't tend to work for free.

    At the end of the day, you can argue that tool development is a labor of love. That's perfectly fine and all, but each of us have costs associated with continued development, server hosting and maintenance, etc. We should not attack anyone that is creating something beneficial for the community as a whole on the decision to monetize in order keep a project alive. I agree that ads can suck, but it's a way that we can all help support creators without ever having to open our wallets.

    Now, if the company is actually bad and it has been proven through multiple means and not just anecdotally, then it makes sense to reach out to the developer(s) personally and make mention of this. Just keep in mind that a lot of us are here to create tools that aim to add quality of life and instead of letting the tools disappear (which I personally have seen a lot in the past), provide the developers a chance to find a way to monetize if they need to in order to continue development.

    Remaking synthesis?

    I really loved the lore of venarius and synthesis. I feel like it's been kicked out of the game just about.

    Yes you can still hunt down ways to do the content. It still doesn't feel great to do it those ways. I wish it was reworked into new content that can appear as you play.

    Does anyone else feel this way? Would you enjoy having the content and lore reworked into a new game mechanic and added to core?

    MOBA's do a great job of offering a modifier key to skills that will level them up. Maybe we could have two key-binds: one for accepting the level-up of the top skill gem of the list and a second for hiding the first skill gem in the list. That way we could level up a long list of gems quickly without taking our cursor away from game play.
